She was a WW II victim living in Europe at the time running from the Russians and the Germans. She once told me she had the greatest respect for a penny. She didn't even have 2 cents to take the bus home from her work. She used to bathe with her girlfriend in the bathhouse renting the tub for an hour and doing her laundry at the same time. My older sister was born in a labor camp. I was fortunate to be born in the U.S. in 1955. My mom got into the country being married to a veteran, my father. I was struggling financially up to my 40's. A sick wife, a sick child and later my second wife going through medical issues most of her adult life. I'm not whining or complaining. I learned to make lemonade early in life. I always had a roof over my head and food on the table. I've been broke more times than I care to remember. In that whole time I was only unemployed for about a month of my entire life. Life is full of surprises. Through it all I can say "Life is good.". |
