I did a thing just now and fingers crossed and prayers it has an impact.
You all know i care for a cousin in the nursing home and you guys have been faced with this issue yourselves.
I've also found myself in a "caregivers for compromise - isolation kills" facebook group where family members are rallying state by state for changes in visitation laws/procedures/legislation for skilled care long term faciliteis.
Florida just opened theirs with new outlined protocols, (pdf available) so good news there. Each state is trying.
Turns out I did a veteran's wrap design for a really nice man 7 years ago, not knowing who he really was, as I'd never met him before. Dave Wallace. For some reason, the bell didn't ring in my head.
He just came back into have it put on his new truck and the nursing home visitation subject came up. We discussesd. He asked for my cell, email, etc and handed me his card (SENATOR Dave Wallace) and his personal cell and instructed me to keep in touch with him as he is currenlty working with the DHS and was unaware of some of these issues. Was so excited! Hope good things come from it. Put a huge smile on my face.
