So Gris.... if an AR-15 is chambered for a 5.56 Nato round can it shoot a .223 shell? what is the difference there? I think one won't shoot in the other but can't remember.... I've got a guy who has a lot of .223 rounds who would sell me some but I want to make sure they will work. These are new rounds.... please tell all....

Marc, the way it was explained to me is there are arms chambered for .223 and those for 5.56mm. The 5.56 is the physically and only slightly larger of the two, so it will take the .223. But chamber’s for the .223 will not accept the 5.56mm. I hope I don’t have that backwards. And please, Correct me if I’m wrong.

AS I RECALL THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS IN THE THROATING OF THE CHAMBER IN MILITARY WEAPONS. NEITHER THE SIERRA MANUAL #V NOR THE NOSLER #6 BOTHER TO MENTION ANY DIFFERENCES, OTHER THAN LOADS FOR BOLT ACTIONS VS AR'S.

PRETTY ACADEMIC, I'D SAY, BUY THOSE ROUNDS IF THE PRICE IS RIGHT, MARCUS.
