Came home and the front struts for the pickup had been delivered and were sitting there next to the garage, so I decided to install them. The ones I ordered included shocks and springs and the springs are supposed to raise the front of the pickup to level it out from a 'nose down' attitude. I watched several YouTube vids on replacing these units and picked up a few tips. So I started on the passenger side and within a few minutes I had the old unit out. The new unit, however, wasn't as cooperative and I fought it for at least an hour. Finally I had to remove the sway bar end link entirely, to get the A arms down far enough to get the bottom of the shock into position to bolt it down. the problem was the 2" raise spring. Well, once I got that figured out, the driver side went off and back on within about 20 minutes. All the vids I watched only had you loosen the sway bar links, but with the longer spring travel, I needed that extra play, I guess. Anyway, I've got an appointment to have the front aligned Friday...and without a doubt, the front sits higher than it did before...by about 2" Letty, that looks like a neat spa. Tommy, you need to drive those cars more, sitting isn't so good on those. Gris, they might get back together. Got a dinner tonight to attend at the 'Senior Center", better go get cleaned up. |
