Re: THE DAY AFTER

Power outage here because of a fire in the brush up the street. The Forestry Service came in with dozers to get it under control. Unfortunately for us they ran into a wodden power pole that resulted in the power company turning off the the juice. You never realize the silence that comes with a power outage till you go outside and not a sound was to be heard. After 7 hours I decided to power up the generator to get some power to the fish pond aerator and the refrigerator. As a bonus we had lights, fans and TV. The power was restored about 1 1/2 hours later. Good thing too. I put on the heaters on to the tortoise pens and the pot bellied pigs sleeping quarters. Supposed to dip to around 50 the even colder over the next few days. The tortoises are cold blooded and need some heat after it gets below 55. the pig can take it but we're just nice. I put two water heaters over in Sue's fish pond to take the edge off. if the water temp goes below 55 the cichlids drop like flies (or iguanas). Never a dull day.
