Wife drove BIL's truck over here today for me to look at the check engine light. I scanned it and it came back as an overretarded passenger side intake camshaft. Did some more testing and it appears that the variable valve timing solenoid is bad. Happens when you don't change your oil frequently enough. It's about 2.5 hours to replace. I told him I can do it one day. My friend who owns a shop told me if that's bad the whole engine is not far behind because it needs timing chains and variable timing phasers (4 of them). You also do the water pump, belts, and plugs at the same time to the tune of around $3800. Sheesh. Hope everyone has a great day! |
