I was in college, and we had a young daughter at the time. I felt like a single parent. My wife slept while I went to school, and I slept while she was at work. I took my daughter to daycare in the mornings, so my wife could sleep. And I took care of my daughter pretty much by myself in the afternoons. My wife was an assistant manager at the time, and worked 12-16 hour days, and travelled about an hour to work one way. She had weekends off, but it was really hard for her to be awake and coherent during the day. It was a pretty bad time in our lives. So bad that I barely remember it. I just remember it happened. All the details are fuzzy. One thing I DO remember is that one morning, I was heading for an 8am class. I parked my POS Chrysler Lebaron in a parking garage, took about three steps away from the vehicle, and for some reason, I turned around... When I did, I nearly hit the ground. In a tired daze, I had forgotten to take my 2 year old daughter to daycare, and nearly went to class and left her in the car. I wanted to kill myself. Anyway, like I said. Bad times. Glad it's over. Hopefully you'll get acclimated to the shift change easily! |
