bmwgsa, what is standard tuning on one of those? E A D G, like bass/guitar or something different?

I'm working of getting all that pounded into my old brain, however....

It's not a chromatic type instrument per-se.. It's more of a modal instrument.

I've been playing with the different modes (mixolydian, ionian, aeolian, dorian, etc...) - all interesting.

Primarily, MD's are tuned to D-A-dd (mixolydian) or D-A-AA (ionian).

Noting it is interesting - for instance, walking the bass line it goes D (open), E, F#, G, A, B, C, C#, D
