Mid sixties. My dad was at May's Drive In in Bloomsburg, PA. All the guys were hanging out with their cars. I think my dad had a Triumph TR3 at the time. White with a black top. A guy pulls in in a new Cobra. Everyone just about shit themselves looking at the car. The guy casually eats his food, and prepares to take off. He pulls slowly out of the parking lot, and eases the power on in first gear. Continues slowly up the road and smoothly shifts into second gear. Everyone at the drive in is pissed that they guy didn't show off a little. Then, he puts the car in third and FLOORS IT! The tires broke loose, billowing smoke and the car blasted off up the highway. COOL. |
