But then I'd need a place to rest the bottle and some friends to share it with. As it happens, refreshment is something that is never lacking at the neighbor's. They run a home-based business and distribute imported wine around the province. The nature of the business means, or at least meant, a lot of entertaining. The summer barbecues next door have been cut back in the past couple of years. Last night harkened back to the days of yore. On such nights there isn't much hope of going to bed at the usual time. The options then are to call the cops to shut them down, sit and stew at home or go over for the food, beverages and society. Turns out that the photographer was responsible for the chair placement - he thought it would make for a great setting. Like I said, myopia was to blame - usually a good photographer doesn't fall into the trap. The thing about our yard is that the neighbors on the other side built an addition onto the back of their home several years ago. Changing it from a rectangular shape to an 'L' shape with large windows in the new addition facing across both back yards. Great for watching the summer sun rise over the trees in the morning - provided you ignore whatever project happens to be underway in Slalom4me's back 40. Man, they've lived there long enough to know better. A wedding for one of their children was held in the back yard, too, come to think of it. Because of past history, I was less inclined to make a contribution in that instance. Hope everyone's done for the season because I've got some projects coming home in a few days. . |
