[PR&C] My One Political Diatribe

Subject: [PR&C] My One Political Diatribe
by bogus on 2008/10/22 2:14:57

This is it. I have been thinking about this for some time, and here is goes... This is my opinion. One established by years of observing, reading and studying.

I have found that politics have made strange bedfellows for some time... the 21st century has amplified that.

I am now convinced that, as a society, we must hate something. Be it the Dallas Cowboys, other races, or cultures we don't understand, we must hate it. If only because it is different or abstract to our current or established beliefs.

Since racism has been made such a no-no, and the damned Commies have vanished (for the most part), we now simply hate each other.

In this case, political alignments have become talking points for hate and derisiveness.

For example, and I quote CNN: The comments came at a McCain rally in Concord, North Carolina Saturday before the Arizona senator or members of his staff had arrived at the event. As first reported by the New York Observer, Rep. Robin Hayes said, "Liberals hate real Americans that work and achieve and believe in God."

This has reached a point where one side is questiong the other side of their patriotism. That has crossed the line. It is the modern "nigger," really. It can be done without really pissing anyone off, except the target. It won't raise too many eyebrows, and, in this case, the only one to raise an eyebrow is the media.

Which leads to item #2.

Many people seem to believe that the media is liberal. First, liberal is not a bad word, it has simply been perverted. However, the media DOES lean to the left. I have come to the conclusion that a "liberal" media is more prone to asking the tough questions than does the conservative media. Sure, the conservative media asks the tough questions, but usually only to the left in an attempt to harden their position (yes, I have watched Fox News, but have found it to be shrill and annoying). In short, the media we have isn't always "fair and balanced" but I think does as good as those disseminating the information will allow.

Next up... my favorite, perception.

I love how the right have convinced us that the left is tax and spend. I am convinced that both are equally without sin. The last 8 years have given us the biggest debt, period. It's a word game that the right has been playing since 1981... and I am not impressed. I dread what may happen to Obama... I hope his personal character is up to snuff so he doesn't have any histories or skeletons in his closet (think Clinton).

I am voting for Obama. For a number of reasons, and get this, none are race:

1. His platform fits my belief better than the GOP
2. Palin, tho she appears to be a bright woman, is truly lacking in experience. She is so out of her element.
3. The GOP has had it's shot... and 8 years has been way too long.

There you have it. I am not going to get into other debates on this subject.
