yes. This thread is over.

Enough is enough.

A few thoughts before I lock this mess:

1. Horsepower is such a nebulous number. The rating process varies from one dyno to another. The only way we are going to be sure there is a REAL difference is if the same dyno is used. This is why the automakers use large, river cooled dynos so the results are most consistant.

2. Horsepower loss is a favourite of mine. I love the estimates of 20% or whatnot, but I find that hard to quanitify. Think about this one for a second, if an alternator can be a fixed draw of 5 hp (for example), where does the driveline stop drawing power to run it? I am guessing that most automatics are easily powered with about 40-or-50hp. I expect manuals are down a little, 20-30hp. or so.

So... that's that, folks. Until John can fully document his concept, we need to leave it alone. Fair enough?
