Both could be power, neither could be.

However, if they are, they should move fore/aft and up down with little more than an electric motor whine....

I have the Springfield Armory 45 and really love it. I also have a Ruger P90DC and have shot SIG P220 45 a lot. I like the SA the best especially since I have an Insight Tek gear X2L laser/flashlight on it:

If you have never shot with a laser, you need to try it. It eliminates the parallax associated with lining up the rear sight, front sight and target. I would never buy ANY pistol anymore that does not have a Picatinny rail on the frame for a laser/flashlight. In addition, think of the impact of someone trying to rip off your garage and you put a laser and/or a flashlight on the face or chest of the intruder after he hears the slide chamber a round.
I have many friends that are Marines or other Military and they all think that a 9 mm is a waste of time. Even the FBI went back to 45's for the hostage rescue teams. I really think a 45 is the way to go unless you are a small person with small hands. I really do not think a 45 recoils that much, especially compared to a 44 Mag and up to a 500 S&W (which is ridiculous). I also have a Ruger Redhawk in 44 Mag and it does give you a healthy kick but my wife shoots it and she is not very big.
