Re: Lets talk GUNS

Ok, I'll try to get my responses in....

As far as lasers go....I'm not saying they aren't used. They are used in the military in laser guided tracking, etc, with great results. Some special ops teams might use them, but the regular soldiers aren't issued lasers on their m16s. Most swat teams will use optics like the eotech. This is for quick target acquisition as well as accuracy. But iron sights are just fine for most applications. If you want to put a $500 scope on your m16, go for it.

I'm not against lasers. I think they are a waste of money. I shoot great without one. I do, however, have trijicon night sights on both of my glocks which are a necessity, imho. The stock sights suck. I think that proper practice techniques will make you more proficient than a laser. If you want one, go for it. I think the psychological effect against an intruder is almost worth it for home defense.

As far as the guns, I really like the mark III. Shoots nice. True the 45/22 conversion is also a good option, but I've never shot one. Also, it costs almost as much as a mark II or III.

As far as Berettas I've had a couple. Sold my .25 jetfire with tip-up barrel which impressed me for a mouse gun. Still have an old beretta .380 that I like. I shot my buddy's well used 92 which had great balance and I shot an incredible pattern with it. Marines issued the 92 for many years. Never tried their shotguns.

Sorry, I was not clear when I said ruger 9mm. I meant the brand new ruger sr9. It's their version of a polyframe semiauto.

I do have the ruger lcp (already had recall done )
and I like it. For a tiny gun that weighs so little it's a nice shooter.

I don't have one brand that I'm loyal to or think is the best. Every manufacturer/pistol has pluses and minuses. It's finding the balance that suits your needs.

John, I think we all agree that there are a lot of good choices out there, and you should try to shoot a variety of them to see what you like. Good luck.

Matthew
