Re: Would you buy a new GM car after all this?

That's a tough one.

I am not a GM fanboy. I only bought Hondas and Toyotas for the longest time, and was rewarded with many trouble free miles, whether the car was purchased new or had over 150,000 miles.

The C4 is the only Chevrolet product of it's era (and the C6 of the current era) I would consider. Muscle cars would be a different story.

I do like the Cadillac CTS-V. I would still consider one of those, despite the buyout and bankruptcy. I would probably wait a few months though. But that is a bunch of money I don't have. Even if that was the only car I was after, I would be inclined to look at the competition more closely after what has happened.

Lexus and Infinity make a nice product.

All of the American made vehicles I've purchased have been Fords. It was not a conscious decision to buy the brand. My '93 Probe GT was unreliable and expensive. We had tranny troubles with an '02 Exploder.

I had a '95 Ranger that treated me well. I am hoping like mad that the Lincoln LS I just bought is not a POS.

I have intentionally avoided GM due to crap interiors. I spend 99% of my time with my vehicle on the inside of it. Ford has more comfortable and better crafted interiors, IMO.

But the Cadillac interior is nicely done, so I could see myself owning one if it becomes affordable to me.

On the other hand, if I really sat around thinking about how top executives screw us, it might become hard to buy anything.
