It is actually the Zenith Elprimo escapement, but modified. Because Rolex wants the day to be at 3-o-clock, they deleted it from the Zenith design. Zenith puts it at 4 or 6. The Elprimo escapement runs at 36000 beats per hour; the Rolex version, IIRC, is at 28000. They slowed and recalibrated it. The best part? A new Zenith is about $7k... a used one about $2k. |
