You see, when Dave McClellan was designing the C4, he wanted to use a t-top bar. GM brass come in and say get rid of the bar. He says sure, give me $1m to fix it. They say no. He says no. They threaten his existence. He figures out a "fix" and that is the huge ass door sills. But it still wasn't enough, because the firewall cantilevers on the sills!

This is where the targa truss comes in. Well worth it in my opinion.


Dave, had mentioned this issue in BG when I was there. There was not a lot of information given. His response was "This was not designed to be be a targa car."

What is the difference in the frames between the targa and convertible?
