Ah... it's a louder, sharper tone. You know the sound of bicycle horns? when you squeeze the rubber bulb? well, make that louder and more consistant, and you are in the right neighbourhood. To be honest, the train air horn is of the same note, but several octaves lower. If you were to lighten that sound a bunch it would not be too far off.

Most modern car horns are way to sterile. It's a boring "beep." yee-ha.

I can't say I have been beeped at by a Ferrari, but I have heard the horn.
