Trae, the vinyl you used, was it the standard stuff they use for lettering? I've heard there is low adhesive vinyl available.

Most guys (like Foose) use 3M mask on a roll cut on a computer. It's certainly less expensive than vinyl but you have to have a source to cut it. I've been wanting to ask Andy if his vinyl machine would cut it.

It was the standard stuff - the guy I used apparently didn't have anything specifically for masking.

For the most part, it worked well. However, the part masking the white was on for a few days and was really starting to stick. When we removed it, some of the adhesive stayed on the hood. We dabbed it with some turpentine to soften it, then it wiped right off. Not really a problem, but it was an annoyance.

Everywhere else, the standard vinyl worked perfectly, maybe because it was only on long enough for the paint to tack up. But I can definitely see the benefit of a low adhesive. If I take on another project like this, I may seek out a local source. Thanks for the info.
