Kevin, you are a prime example of BSMEs I recruited for IBM out of Cal Poly. Before you were born - 1969-70, I recruited engineers for IBM from seven Western States colleges and universities. Those years were
not great on the economic scale, so IBM hiring focused on recent grads.
I'm pleased to tell you that IBM hired more grads from Cal Poly than all
the other schools combined.

One senior IBM engineering manager made a comment that he liked the
Cal Poly engineering applicants because they had 'dirty fingernails'.
That was not a derogatory remark concerning personal hygiene, but a
sincere compliment to the engineering department at Cal Poly. His remark meant that the Cal Poly grads came to work with hands-on experience (knowing that many engineering students worked on their cars).

At last report, Cal Poly was still turning out talented engineering grads.
Take pride in having a BSME from Cal Poly.
