Sound deadening seems to be worthwhile |
Subject: Sound deadening seems to be worthwhile by pianoguy on 2008/7/20 15:05:17 I got my car buttoned up this morning after putting in some Xtreme Dynamat. I had found it on amazon.com a while back, I think it cost me about $140 for a 36 square foot kit and a door kit. The stuff is pretty easy to work with. I didn't attempt to cover every square inch of the car - I did the floors, doors, bulkhead behind the seats and most of the rear wheel wells - I have enough left to do the console, didn't feel like ripping that all out right now. I'll be ripping apart the interior again someday to do install a new sound system, so can add more later if need be. Anyway, I took it for a quick spin, and it seemed quieter and more solid - I was finally able to isolate a little squeak that had bugged me for a while, but could never figure out where it was coming from above the din. The funnest part of the job was getting a bunch of little cuts on my hands, and then wiping down panels with denatured alcohol before applying the deadener. I never quite remember to wear gloves at the right time |
