Subject: Re: I need photos of your C3 for the guru webpages! by dstaley on 2009/2/13 22:59:36 The transmission vacuum modulator is just a spring-loaded vacuum diaphragm that controls a spool valve. When engie vacuum is low, the modulator increases line pressure, which delays upshifts and makes them more firm under higher load. An adjustable one let's you tune the sensitivity a little bit, which I believe allows the upshifts to be tuned on the order of 2-3 mph. It's not a huge adjustment range. My '76 still has the original TH350, so there isn't any lockup clutch in the converter. The kickdown cable is unaffected. |
