I will confirm what as already said. Canvas drop cloths are permeable and whatever drips down can sleep through.

I would use a tarp and throw some old junk towels on top to absorb anything.

I was stuck with where my tool boxes could go and other storage as well. My "shop", on the other hand, was carefully planned. 24 x 31 and I knew where I wanted things...even things I didn't have at the time of building my shop. I did/do have the advantage, at the time to be able to do scaled drawings and made little scaled cutouts of all the machines, cabinetry and boxes that I wanted, then moved them around to see how they fit the best and most convenient.

How tall are you ceilings? Are you putting in a lift? (highly recommended). I could do some scaled drawings for you if you'd like. Let me know and I will get with you on the details.

Thanks, Tom. We could put a lift in this garage, but we've already got two four-posters in the detatched garage, so that's definitely not a near term thing.

Interesting that drains are not allowed. You cannot hardly get a garage in a house without a drain in my neck of the woods. Yes, it comes in very handy in the snow season. All you have to do is let the water drain and once the floor is dry, broom or leaf blow the salt and grime out!

Thinking about it, my basement garage has 2 drains!!

Jacks & stands are versatile.

But it's all about the way YOU want to work.
