C3 Technical:: Has anyone installed an LS in a C3?
You all are missing my point... Let her drive the car under extreme supervision. If you trust her enough to keep the car, then you trust her enough to drive it at a slow speed.

My brother took me out for a morning exercise drive. He would, on a Saturday morning, go into the bowels of his development and run the shit outta the car. Then drive it home. Maybe 30 minutes? Kept the carbs from bogging and the plugs from fouling.

After he scared the hell outta me, he then said, "wanna drive it?" Uh, yea (like I would say no?). I drove that thing like it was made of ice.

I let my teenaged great nephew drive my C6 a few years back. He was VERY respectful.

The only exception? My niece... she drove my 1992 Prelude Si into a tree back in 1994. I must add, she was 20 and she had her future husband with her. I hoped she would show restraint, hell, I expected it. She paid for that, both through a long term guilt trip and via her wallet.

I did this tutorial on inspection and rebuilding of the D44 Trac-Lock's a few years ago.

http://www.corvetteforum.guru/modules ... topic_id=17573&menumode=2

Will

C3 Technical:: 1969 L-89 - need advice choosing a cam
I know right !?!? My dad had never been interested in having a 'show car' - just because he didn't want anyone nit-picking his car, he said. It wore a primered L88 hood and ran an L88 intake and 850 dbl pumper since early 70. But he kept the tri power setup and it was always in a garage. One day recently he decided to do a total restore back to original. The interior, including carpet, was in such good shape it was just removed and cleaned. This cam swap was a major ordeal for many reasons. I got advice from a number of people but went with the recommendation from here.
I estimate six months before it hits the road again, but I'll certainly list where input came from.

Perhaps it's the same on the Corvette.

Mine was missing since I got the car 10 years; but with the poked-and-stroked BBC, I've never really needed it.

That sounds about right... And at that point, they were not required until 1981.

I know that certain "clean" cars didn't require them... my 76 AMC didn't have one... my Mom's 78 Audi Fox didn't have one...

Very good work.

There was some mention of compression ratio, having huge gains to a bump of half a point in compression or so. There would be some gains, but I don't think it would be huge. And I think you could get that with just a swap to a steel shim head gasket probably.

I think being able to obtain that horsepower goal without having to buy the expensive gas is a very good idea. Good job!

Thanks Bearcat! He has not changed a thing on it.
