C1 Photos/Fun Stuff:: RM Sells A 1962 Race Car ...

Goes to show that some Corvette owners dreams are really big dreams. Bet ya the owner of that Corvette was peeking into the car hauler all night saying "I can't believe I just bought that Corvette.". Unless they bought it over the phone. Then they'll be saying that when it comes off the car hauler.

C1 Photos/Fun Stuff:: 57 Vette Search
Another source would be the NCRS.

To be honest, the internet isn't the best place to find a C1 owner. Most of them are much older and don't use this as a tool beyond email. Several times, I have been totally blown off by C1 owners, because they don't see the value of social networking.

You may also try a DMV search. What state did you sell it in in 1972? I would start there, it might cost $30.00 or so for an offline paper search, but you have a date of sale, so that would narrow it down.

From there, they would be able to track when it sold next, perhaps...

Another option is to ask someone to run the VIN through something called "Nlets". This would require police or DMV assistance. Nlets = National Law Enforcement Teletype System... yea, sounds old, but that's how the cops communicated...

In my former life, I could have looked this up. Now... here is the rub, more than likely all they could give you is a state of current registration. From there, you would have to go digging for the owner.

I am not 100% sure Nlets can legally be used for this, tho. I don't honestly remember the rules... it's been WAY too long, so don't be surprised if someone says no way.

You may also want to track down Corvette Clubs and send an email to each of them... but that's a lot of clubs.

One final thought... the National Corvette Museum may have something that could help.

Good luck.

C1 Photos/Fun Stuff:: Took the 62 for a spin
Quote:

pr0zac wrote:
wow that thing runs.. i mph'd similar to that with my cammed 355 lt4 but my 60 ft's could come close to your auto.

The combo runs pretty good for what it is. I like that the engine can do it while fitting under a stock hood. The ET and MPH are both being held back by my low shift points. The trans shifts about 900 RPM too soon.

The combo has 3 things going for it: stroker crank, HR cam, and AFR heads. The intake is less than ideal given the low shift points, moderate cam, 3.36 gears and low stall converter. I'd like to run an RPM airgap, but it won't fit under hood. When I tested the old combo at the track, the Team G was worth .2 seconds and almost .5 MPB vs a Weiand 8120 low-rise dual plane intake. So, I doubt I could improve the ET with a swao to the 8120, or an old C3B I have.

Great looking ride. I bet that looked a little out of place over there!
