I remember the water pipes to the washer freezing because it ran on an outside wall but that was a lifetime ago. Brought Buddy in for his wound check up. $35 for 5 minutes of work. People doctors don't charge for a follow up wound check. Working on packing as Sue tries to direct from afar. Have to wash the Suburban and get the fishing rods out and checked. Start the boat since I changed the fuel filter/water seperator. And whatever else falls into place. Shopping later for pet supplies. Gotta get going.

Ya, I'm not feeling up to snuff either. My blood pressure and beats per minute look great. Guess it's the meds that make me feel like $#!+. LOL, I felt better before the change in meds but my bp was all over the place. No bone rolling here. Edibles in the late evening. Worked on the boat today. Put on a new set of tires on the boat trailer since Sue asked me around 5 times if I thought he tires were good enough. Figured better safe than sorry. Painted the lower unit, greased and oiled everything and secured a high through fitting with some marine grade silicon. Broke out the suit cases. Started getting some dry goods ready. Caught up on the laundry. Tomorrow I'll start loading the Suburban with fishing gear, food, and clothing. It's about an hour drive but takes 3 hours on Saturday. People going into the Keys are replacing those that are leaving. This is our annual week in Lower Matecumbe Key just south of Islamorada. Fishing, hanging with friends, and relaxing. And eating ..... Lots of eating. This might be one of our last getaways with our longtime petsitter. She says she'll be available till late April or May. She hasn't committed to our two week Alaska cruise dates in late April. Might try to sneak in a March getaway for a few days. We shall see. My sister wanted us to join her family on a May 27th 4 day cruise but think on that we will have to pass. All this vaction planning is making me tired.

09:30 to 06:00 AM for 7 years. 1980-1987. There was a bar close to home that opened at 07:00AM and another beer joint at 09:30 AM that I frequented. Of course I would get a little loose before I even went to work.

The gate at the nursery acted up last evening at closing. Fortunately the gate/fence people were on their way home from a job and they stopped in and fixed the problem. Sue and I are both keeping the doctors and medical insurance companies busy. Doctors offices didn't have clearance. Insurance company said they need 5-15 days to clear a proceedure. Their cost saving measures wind up creating delays. Multiple mechanical issues need attention. Pushing most of it back till after vacation. We'll only be an hour away so if something does mess up badly we can get home to deal with it. My blood pressure has been getting better but you'd never know it by the way I feel. Of course Sue does her fair share to keep it elevated. This getting old shit is getting old. Very warm today (80's) but a decrease in temps is in the works. Looks like it will be in the 60's in the Keys next week and 50's at the house.

Marcus, did you reap any benefits from the oyster stew? Keep on keeping on. That's what I always do. I do my best to maintain a positve outlook though at times that can be a challenge. Happiness and peace is all I seek. Seeking means you have to look for it.

I have two of these trying to decimate my pond. I look out and see if he's there then I release the kraken (my 3 dogs). They run and scare better than I do. He keeps coming back though. Egrets are smart and devious and won't be denied an easy meal. The battle will continue till they migrate.

Buddy our dog got into a confrontation at the fence with the neighbors dog that tried to pull him through the fence. Two+ inch tear below his right shoulder. Bill is $1017. Let the shitshow continue. Both dogs are equally responsible but the neighbors dog is a killer. There is no doubt had he got him under the fence Buddy would have been a goner.

Ya, but I keep playing. Gambling is a distraction for me. Watching the wheels go round and round and the different symbols churning in my head blocks out the other things that I can do nothing to change. And of course on many nights "I can't win for losing". But there are those other nights when I come out a "Winner". In gambling even is also considered a win. Sue just came home and I'm ready to go. She did good last week. Made up for my losses and had extra to spare. A Saturday night to Hard Rock has become pretty routine for us. We stick within our allotted budget. No trips to the ATM. They give us incentives as well.

Congrats on the recognition tee. Well deserved.

Just 4 or 5 months back I was living at ease. Fast forward to 2024 and I've got a missing son, stuff breaking down like crazy, Sue with health issues and we're losing our petsitter. That will make getaways difficult if not impossible unless we take seperate breaks. That's one of the truths we share about life. If all is going well ..... just wait. As usual I will take baby steps forward until perhaps one day in the future I will once again be at ease. Until then "Damn the torpedoes. Full speed ahead." Breathe in. Breathe out.

I'll be sharing the same birthyear birthday with you in July. Brad would have been joining us too, Sadly, he only joins us in spirit.

I got a ton of stuff going and only a small shovel to move it. My energy level is down and I'm adjusting to new meds. In any case I'm sure something will get done.

Florida is used to clearing the grocery shelves when hurricanes approach. That and gasoline runs. Lines and tanks that run out of fuel are not uncommon. Drizzling right now. Cool and clammy. The afternoon was lost on getting the 91 from the mechanic's shop to the muffler shop. Took over 2 hours for the tow truck to show up. The front y pipe and cats were removed so I really couldn't drive it over there. Sounded Nascarish when I cranked it up. Getting a y pipe with a single cat to replace the old ones. Supposed to be a little louder and a little more free on the airflow. Between both shops we're spending $1600 on it on keeping it roadworthy. It's only money. Right?

My daily routine contains a number of expletives but none are deleted. I started today with a job that should have taken less than 5 minutes. Nope. Easy job had to turn in to more difficult one. Got er done though. No snow predicted here today, or any day for that matter.

Got a bunch of boxes from amazon today that held chain link fence privacy covers. Several hundred feet so I guess I have some work to do besides my other work. Online shopping has it's benefits. I only have to trudge the stuff in from the gate. With the help of my golfcart of course.

Being a gambler I learned this early in life. When all else fails .... bluff.

Went to see my primary care doc this morning. He recommended a couple of imaging test that I agree with. Abdominal aorta and cartoid duplex images. Plus he modified my heart meds. I think he knows what he's doing. He and his assistant are pleasant as well. Washed the boat and my back yard shipping container yesterday. Both look a lot better. Today I should do a few things but the pillow keeps calling me for a nap. Let's see if I can fight it off. I don't think I will succeed though.

Sue and I are both animal lovers. Right now Sue has 5 cats and 4 kittens she is feeding. Offspring from the cats she didn't have fixed last go round. One time she had over 20 cats that had made the nursery their home. Got down to 2. Now the number is growing once again. At home 3 dogs, a cat, a cockatoo, 12 tortoises, 20 koi and several hundred cichlids. She was not crazy about me keeping Buddy, the mini pincher mix but he's a cool dog that gets along with all the other critters and plays up a storm with Snoopy, our dachshund mix. Projects are waiting. Gotta go .......

Worked on the boat this morning and got the water out of the fuel tank with a siphon. Started and ran the motor. The boat is due for it's annual workout down in the Keys in two weeks. I had a bunch of work done on it last April and got a new depth finder. It's raining now messing yp my day but it is supposed to clear soon.

Marcus, I wonder how your product might work on Mary Jane.

Tire is old and splitting. It's gonna take more than fix a flat. And of course, it's a 2 wheel wheelbarrow. Gonna check the nursery to see if I can find a replacement or two off the old ones.

Young Matt ain't so young anymore. LOL Cleaned up fallen branches and stuff aroud the back yard. Sound the wheelbarrow bucket was in need of repair. Fixed that and the tires won't hold air. Figures. Getting ready to cut the grass at home. It's warming up so we'll be in the low 60 to low 80 range once again over the next few days. I try to do something everyday. Eating the elephant one bite at a time. Still plenty of meat left. Months worth for sure. Oh well. Nothing will get done unless you do it. At the rate I'm going I'll be dead before I ever catch up.

DNBFS? I rarely have a day like that. Maybe a little mixed in with my routines. Enjoy. Sue had been hounding for a new bed for at least a year. Finaly got around to shopping and buying the bed she wanted. What was nice was the matress was $400 off and came with a free remote controlled adjustable bed frame (reg $299). I had them drop it off on the front walk for free and assembled it myself because I'm a cheap bastard and didn't want to give them $99 to assemble it. Gave the old bed to Sue's worker who needed it for his daughter. Keep moving forward even when procrastinating. Plenty to do. Time to get to it.

In other news. Their is a potential buyer for the nursery. They are talking 80% down and hold a note for a 5 year balloon on the 20% balance. The realtor supports the potential offer and so would we. Today is the last cool day in the forecast for now. A warm up is expected here. Today we started off in the low 50's. Sonny-boy is still on the lamb. Who knows? We certainly don't.

Nice weather day today. Not too hot. Not too cold. Dropped off the 91 in the shop. I'll comment more when I find out what's wrong with it. Waiting on the new mattress. Due in the next couple of hours. Doing a few other things that need to be done.

As I mentioned previously, our Christmas decorations have already been put away. I got Chistmassed out early this year. Sue wanted to watch a Christmas themed movie last night and I declined. Told her I've had enough of Christmas for this year. Went to CVS a couple of days ago to pick up some meds. At the pick up window they had a large display of Valentines candy ready for sale. For a couple of years on the international news front it seemed like reporting on the subject went by the wayside. It gave us the illusion all was good in the world. We need to do that again.

Saturday as well. Cool outside. The weather gurus told me there is a 30 temperature difference between north Florida and south Florida. We started today in the 50's. Up by Tallahassee in the low 30's. The Corvettes look a lot better with the nose bras. Covers up the worst imperfections in the paint. Can't hurt what is already damaged.

Definitely not driving them enough. They are withering on the vine. Now if I had a new car, say a C-8, I have a regular 120 mile round trip that would fit perfectly into the profile. And I could go hang out with my good friend in Sebring that also owns a C-8. He goes out with the Corvette geezers for breakfast every now and then. He is also 68 and is the young one at the tables. I'm kinda liking a convertible with a Z-51 package. Sue would be ALL IN. Though Sue's 87 911 is also not getting lots of mileage either. She does take it out every once and awhile though. Maybe twice a month.

Washed the Corvettes and the Suburban yesterday. Put a nose bra on the 91. Going to put one on the 90 as well. They will cover some deteriorating paint and cosmetically make the cars look so much better. Dismal morning with rain till this afternoon. So, I'm going to run some errands this morning and pick up a few things I need. That way when the rain stops I can get a few things done. Went to run the 91 yesterday and out of the blue she just lost power. Runs at idle but no acceleration. Fuel filter or a wire disconnected methinks. AND the brake lights aren't working. Have to get leaking tire checked on the 90 and the A/C has to be recharged. It has a slow refrigerant leak. Not even getting into the 928 yet. All this has me thinking I need a vehicle the a 3 year 36,000 mile warranty. ....

I see it took 36,000 gallons of water to put out a Tesla that caught on fire recently... it's like a little Nuke meltdown... some are recommending burying the car in dirt till it burns itself out..... 500 to 1000 gallons to put out an ICE car fire on average.... just saying.....

get ready Guru's....

I was thinking zero gallons if you let it fry to a crisp. What about CO2 or foam? Maybe instead of water they could use a flamable liquid. You know. Fight fire with fire. [insert missing flame thrower emoji here]

Time to ramp up efforts to sell 3 cars. Someone has been hounding me to prep them for presentation. Today I will wash and drive them all. Sue has an interested party in the 91 vette convertable. The paint is aging and clear is starting to break down in some areas on the vettes. The body on the 928 needs to be redone completely. I bought nose bras for both vettes to enhance appearance. Everthing runs but as in any 30-40 year old cars there is stuff that needs attention. I know if I put them out by the nursery they will sell. That's what's on my plate today. Never a dull day.

Oh the stories I could tell ...... but won't.

We had a good crowd over for Christmas. Not too big, not too small. 25 people ate and enjoyed each others company. It rained off and on throughout the day so we were pretty much restricted to the patio. Got uo this morning and decided I have had my fill of the Season for this year, so I put all the inflatables and stuff around the house away. Getting back to normal, if there is such a thing. We had deboned chicken, brisket and shrimp to choose from and a number of sides and desserts. Sue looked in the fridge last night and found a cake she forgot to put out. We have enough leftovers to eat for a few days. Next up, New Year's Eve and Day. Probably go to the casino for that and sleep NYD away. Onward we go.

Was overcast here today too, sun in and out. We went to next town to fix the old motorhome of our electrician's son, they need to sell it. Needs a new neutral safety switch. I'm negotiating with the old man as we need a new 3ton heat pump thing. I have electric. He has a complete package, an old unit from a local church, not used much - it's gas. For $350 for all of it plus his install will run me about 1000. I think I'm in. We don't use it much either, and gas for us will be cheaper to run when we do need it.
We also decided to flea market after that and hit the local Abilities Unlimited and I saw an MCM dinette - upon closer inspection, it's a 1965 Heywood Wakefield. 6 chairs, table with 3 leaves. Table top needs redone, one chair needs a repair. It lists for $5k on Charish.com, which I know is overpriced but heck, I paid $70 for ALL of it. I have a big double pedestal chunky set (6ft expands to 8, 6 chairs) I think I'll sell and use this more streamlined set. Same amount of seats and don't take up near as much room. Bless Arron and my shenanigans. We took chairs home, then all the way back for table top, then another 40 mins to the next town so he could eat Italian and then shopped more and came home. I don't know how to refinish a table top but I reckon I'm bout to learn.

This is the set on Charish.com

Remember VB, what comes in will one day have to go out. Ask me how I know.

TWAS THE DAY BEFORE CHRISTMAS---

And I'm working my ass off like I do every year. Told Sue this was the last year for the party. I might change my mind but the party gets smaller every year. Still might have a small gathering in years ahead. Sue's in the kitchen. I finished the yard pretty much by Thursday and yesterday finshed pressure washing. Did some house cleaning yesterday as well. Today was more house cleaning for me. Pretty well done with that now as well. Sue complained about which vacuum cleaner I was using. I told her she is one of the few women that would complain about a husband cleaning house. Few small things to do. Tomorrow set up a few games and set up the coolers and help with the food layout. A lot of work for a party that will only last about 4 hours. From 1-5 PM

Merry Christmas my friends and to even those that aren't.

New electric gate opener being installed today. They are pouring the pad now. They will come back later to install the motor and chain. That's what we 're getting for Christmas. One of those unplanned gifts.

Grey skies but no rain. been busy. yesterday turned out to be a consultation, not surgery. Two MOHS surgery dates in late Jan and mid Feb. MY FIL's house got broken into. They smashed his custom sized sliding glass door to gain access. Alarm was not set because of a alarm dead battery. They got off with a .45 cal handgun and other undetermined things. The scumbags were driving a U-Haul van. No doubt they cased the joint but didn't take much. Party prep continues. Have all the seating covered. A place to sit for over a hundred. lol Expect somewhere around 30. All time high was about 95 people I believe but that was several years before covid struck. Lots of those no longer with us. And if they are with us they are with us in spirit.

The gate security light died. It's only a year old or so. guess the wiring got wet with the deluge we just had. The wind and rain has died down today. Maybe we can resume what Florida is best known for as The Sunshine State. Not sure if I had three things break yet but we had a power outage yesterday afternoon that totally f@(%ed up my plans. I had to start up the generator to keep the air bubbles flowing in the fish pond. Runs all the 110/120 stuff in the house as well. Like the old saying goes. Do you want to make God laugh? Tell Him you've got plans.

Dreary day. Sue called me for some help at the nursery tightening cable lines that hold up trees. It's been drizzley and windy for three days. Tomorrow it's supposed to be worse. Sunday doesn't look great. Still, there are things that must be done, rain or shine. I have 4 days to try and get stuff done before MOHS surgery on 4 locations. I'm thinking that's gonna put a damper on what I can do before the party on the 25th. And Sue keeps calling me with honey-do's. What else can I say but f@(% it. It is what it is .......

The world was better when it went to pot. Many people today are just wacky. That's why it's great to be older and retired. You can just turn it all off.
