Absolutely the most Gawd-awful place in the U.S.A. to visit.

Got an antenna mast for the 67 yesterday but it needs refinished. Not sure I will be able to get it to where I want it.
Corvette vendors sell a replacement that fits a Chevy II, Chevelle , etc. for $19. The correct repo is $49 of course.

Speaking of coffee, Kipling loves it but he likes it ground up right out of the Folger's can.

Back to real life, I saw this French coffee press in Wallymart, really cheapo. But, I might get one to play with.

Thanks Joel,

Yea, it's the original, in mint condition. The cleanup on it was less than 10 minutes.

Wish it was a teak wheel but those are going for $1,000 in so-so condition.

Unfortunately, no.

There's a boatload to do first.
I'm having a real problem deciding what to do with the wiper motor, it's a cosmetic restoration and to do the cad plating the motor brushes plate has to come out, it's in there with small copper revits and I can't source them.
But the resto costs $275.

The wiper motor has to go in before the heater box, almost impossible to get the wiper bolts in with the heater there.

Then, the radio speaker goes in, then the heater then the instrument panel and only then the steering column.

And that's after I find the damn missing steering column support bracket.

Pics:
1. Shows all the parts, the column, hub and turn signal switch housing were glass beaded then painted factory (2 different colors of black.

2. The lower bearing - goofy stepped design, only used on the first 9,000 or so cars. The 2 bearings were $95 but those and one C-clip were all I had to buy. The plastic turn signal components were in extremely good condition.

3 & 4, A pile of those blue wire splices that bubba had used to crap up the harness (didn't know how to run the wires correctly). Soldered & heat shrinked.

5. Lower bearing & retainers.

6. Finished

I also recommend Hawk. I run them.

They are a huge improvement over stock.

However, they are also pricy but IMO, they are worth the extra dollars.

And they must be installed correctly with cleaning up the rotors (costs less than $10 to do) and proper bedding of the pads.

The Delco pads are just fine but not near the performance of the Hawks. I personally wouldn't run them but they'll get you stopped.

Can't sell the snowblower, I paid $100 for it.

All the water here comes from snowpack on the mountain, stored in reservoirs and lakes.

The water at my place comes from wells in a huge community system. Costs $23/month. It's very drinkable right out of the tap. The Reno city water tastes like crap.

Can't remember where you were but I've heard that western Washington and that area is a bit like it is here.

Until winter hits.

Well, nothing's perfect. And I do rum my mouth about the weather here. But, everyone else is giving their weather reports so.............

But, gotta say that this summer's been an exceptional one.

On all but about 3 days, the breeze at 5 p.m. was nice and cool, just open all the windows.

Number of days over 100 - 3.
Number of days I turned on the swamp cooler at 3:30 - 6 or 7
Number of days since May that it rained or we actually had clouds - 6
Number of days when I used the a/c in the Silverado - 6, driving the C4 - 0

It was 90 here on Thursday, lower 60's for the beginning of the week.

Winter's coming, I don't like winter any more but:
the number of times I used my snowblower in the last 3 years - 0

In all these years of driving Corvettes, that's been the same.
Drove C2's cross country, 3,000 miles, felt great every time I got out of the car. My C3 was the same.
The C4, 6 hours to Laguna Seca, felt great.

In any other car and definitely in my Silverado towing the race trailer, after 2 hours, I'm bitching, moving around in the seat, etc.

Yea, Tom, probably took an extra half hour to figure what goes where. The page in my AIM is missing which didn't help (all the reprints of the AIM are missing a few pages).

And I'm still missing the support plate to bolt the column in.

But I can't put it in any until the windshield wiper motor gets restored. And it's fighting me big time.

Yea, Tom.

I didn't ask Joe what the seats were out of cause he was screaming about the bubba wiring in the car, maybe Pontiac Fierro.

I Did IT steering column and the white gauges plus a huge stereo with big speakers and amps in the back.

Unfortunately, all the wiring is bubba, all the wiring to the gauges is individual wires, not a harness, stereo relays under the hood, etc.

The dash and stereo will be removed and sold. The stereo doesn't belong in a C2 anyway.

Joe has so damn many C2 parts, he had a complete dash with stock gauges in the shop. I'm going to restore the paint on it for him like I did to mine.

Nice thing about the car is that it has a brand new 475 horse 383 with only 100 miles on it.

Guess I'll play with the 67 today.

And run over to Joe's to see his latest purchase.

He sold the 68 427/435 for $45,000, the one I posted here for $35,000

Yep, you have to start there, you need to know if there's pressure at the injector rail.

Cupertino, yuk. I used to drive over there for a once a month business meeting (which usually wasn't worth the drive

But, if you stop by the T/G/I. Fridays on Stevens Creek Blvd., look for a brass plaque on one of the bar columns. It has the names of 2 of our guys from the office, It was put up there to honor them for the amount of drinks they bought,

What a pain in the ass, just about as bad as doing bodywork.

I only needed 3 band-aids.

The tan/gold stuff has to be glued in ( which means you have to scrape all the old chit off).
You can't get in there right without laying on your back.

And a regular sized can of 3M spray adhesive is hard to get a decent angle on with the stuff in the way. Sometimes upside down (of course it stops spraying then).
Then you have to fit the insulation around corners, into crevices, etc. And you have to nail the hole locations the first time because the stuff will tear if you try to pull it off.

Then the black, molded stuff goes in with rubber push pins but, under the dash, you have no leverage.

That's it for today, I'll work on the push pins tomorrow.

I had so much glue on my hands that I had to wash them with Goo-Gone.

I dumped 38 Band-Aids on the console of the 67 and prepared to go under the dash.

Except for Bill's Abba.

That girl left the Elvis collector and came back cause I told her I collected tin foil.

We went on to take the pop music world by storm.

Because I gave her a rise to the moon that she would never forget.

Unfortunately, one day I came home with a hundred dollars worth of tools...........

And she left me for a guy who collects Elvis plates.

You outa see what they guys go thru just to stick a racing seat in a GS for a track day, wiring under the seat, emulators for the seat sensors..........

Defeating the stupid active handling is even worse.
