Morning .....it's Friday! Not much here today. I'll get something done, go to school and teach those little boogers something. Grandson was a force again in the football game last night and middle grandson has a game tomorrow, so Saturday morning (at least) is shot.

Just like a real B29, it takes more than one guy to fly the thing. That's cool. I wonder what type of engines they use, sounds like weedwackers.

Bill, no matter how big the shop is, it isn't big enough...Right? That's one of those theorems that educators should teach....I do. Don, what did you use along with the P-C? Don, when I read your description of the tree, my first thought was Hackberry, not knowing whether or not they were native to your area, apparently they are. What does the bark look like, that might narrow it down.

I cleaned the pickup up last evening, while listening to the Royals get beat again.....no comments required from you Brad. . So this morning I get up and guess what?....It's raining, oh well it was nice sitting in the garage. Matt, sometimes when the kids want something it's better just to give in and let them experience things.

Kids are calm again today...well at least until the ms kids get here.

Wife and I go to maybe 2 movies a year. I'll watch them on TV, when I have the time. I've not seen Avatar, not sure I really want to. I watch Roy and the Router Shop too.

Another nice day here looking for 85* and light breeze. Kids are reasonably calm...well I do have the ms kids this afternoon and so my day will be wrecked after that. I have a pickup truck to do a little detailing on this evening.

Andy, what version of XP are you using to install? If you are using XP w/sp2 or sp3, then it probably won't recognize the key from the IBM or even the number I gave you. The computer is old enough that it probably has an original version of XP.....The numbers are different for those. If you can find an older version of XP to install it will probably take your number.

OK after re-reading your post, I think I may have misunderstood....you have the product key, it's not accepting the original key, using another XP-Pro disk to install....right?

Huummmmmm, XP -Pro should be XP-Pro no matter how it is installed. I'll have to do some checking.

Andy, IF you could put the old drive back in and get it up and running, there is a little utility that will go out there and find the original product key. Once you have that, you should be able to punch in that KEY and it should go ahead and activate. Let me do a little looking to see what the name of the program is.

Morning gurus....beautiful day out here, little or no breeze, 66*. Kids are reasonable this morning.....I missed a faculty meeting...crap....forgot all about it until I got here, 20 minutes late. What are they going to do, fire me? Nothing planned except to go home after school.

Hope you have a great day.

Hey guys, just got on to the internet....have to steal a wireless connection as the in-laws don't even own a computer. Wife and in-laws are getting ready to feed the crew. Only thing I have to do today is drive home. Cold front moving through a little later. Wind is really blowing, from the south, and will turn to the north when the front moves through.

Ron, that's the way that they sell new dishwashers, pisses me off. Let it burn the hose down and then sue them. I have my issues with Regis and Kelly....what a waste of time. Me I'm watching "Dirty Jobs".

Have a great day.

Evening gurus...Went to the funeral, it was nice and the pastor related a good analogy to judging about her demise. The best part of the whole weekend was driving the Corvette.

This evening we are spending time with the in-laws. Matt, my ankles have finally healed, hope yours heal quickly.

Yea, I know exactly what you mean, build or fix this or that. And in my case if they want something printed, I have the districts only large format printer. As word gets around I'm getting calls from MS and GS teachers asking if I can "Make a couple of posters".

Brad, glad that it has been a painless process. I haven't had to deal with an insurance claim for a while.

Well this is a kick in the head. I have to teach complete sentence structure, so I ask," I teach technical writing as apart of my course." No Ron everything has to be in complete sentences. Tech writing now is endless, no more dots, or insert a into part b. or Mitre off set 1 degree at 45.
So I start splitting verbs in a complete sentence.
Oh and by the way is there anyway to teach metric system instead of that other way you teach, ya mean "standard" units of measurement. This is coming from a counselor.
No this is not going to happen all my machines are calibrated in standard units. Went completely over his head. That little prick!! It stays the way it is, let the academic wing handle the problem!
The metric dim. my kids know is 9mm Luger/9mm parabelum

They still leave me alone, as far as the complete sentence thing goes, and just ask that I continue our technical writing. When appropriate, I require complete sentences, but those situations are rare.

As far as the metric system, well, I do what I can in my drafting class. About half of the drawings I have them do are metric. As far as the shop....well, like Ron, everything is calibrated in U.S. Standard (inches down to 1/32"). No way would attempt to convert all that to metric or make the kids convert, it's just plain stupid to do that. Frankly, I like the metric system, but when everything is standard, it makes no sense to try and force the kids to convert. My counselor and principal pretty much leave me alone.

Morning guys....very nice morning here, 46* looking for a high of 80. Matt, I had that problem three days ago, no idea where I got mine either. Very annoying to say the least. Ron, I'm glad that I don't have to face those kinds of problems here, don't think I could take it. Yea "bastard file" always brings snickers. Got to get going here....later.

Back from watching the grandson play tonight. He played pretty well...there are only 20 boys out, so he played both ways. He made a difference in the game, forcing some plays making some things happen. They won 20-0.

BTW, I was right, the middle schoolers were bouncing off the walls in class. Dam* I'm glad there is not a game every day.

Hey guys, I'm with Matt on this one, Dawn sounds like bad news, Tommy...... Ron....I didn't even try to not laugh, kids were looking at me strangely....so what's new? Finally getting into a little rhythm here. First middle school football game today, so they will probably be bouncing off the walls....I can't wait for the afternoon. (ha-ha)

Long weekend coming up, plans got changed last night. Supposed to get together with family at my little brothers, but Weds, my older brothers' wife's sister committed suicide...funeral Saturday. Apparently, no previous signs of problems, so they don't know why. So we will be attending a funeral and seeing most everyone who was to be at the little brothers place. Just not anywhere near the fun factor.

I hate the start of school....busy, busy busy. Sounds like everything is pretty normal for everyone. I have a meeting tonight, so one more evening shot to h3ll. Tomorrow my grandson has his first football game....at least it is here. he has grown some since last year. 13 years old, 6'2 1/2" 230...that's as big as me...well actually he weighs more than I do. He's going to be a big boy.

Hey guys, it's been a very busy day at school. I'm home now but have to go back and work volleyball match. I came home to check on the grandsons as my wife is in a meeting until about now and then will come home to be with them until their mother gets home. They are working on their homework. it's hot here today 96 right now.

Last night had the second night of the club golf tourney, last week I played way above my head and ended up in a flight of guys way above my normal game. And several that I'm pretty sure sandbagged so they could win money...I never expect to win anyway. Well last week I shot 38 (on nine holes, par 35) Last night the wind was howling 35-40 mph, so I only shot 42, finished out of the money, but not last, so I'm happy.

Well I got to go get ready for V-ball.

Bill, you are right the standard (the seats which the C5 Z06 has) seats in a Z06 are not very good. The sport seats, like I have, are much better. They didn't put those in the Z because they weigh more and they were trying to keep weight down as much as possible.

Guys, got up this morning and headed for home after a late night (2am) up talking to classmates at our reunion. It was really pretty nice to see some of these folks. Headed back to the In-laws and when getting there find that the MIL was worse than she was Friday night with the shingles, so my wife and FIL took her back to the E-room at the hospital. They gave her another anti-biotic. By the time we left, she was doing a little better. I had shingles a couple of years ago (on my back) and I felt like a horse had kicked me, hers are on her face and she has swelled up the one whole side of her face. The Dr today wants here to go see an eye Dr, tomorrow to make sure the virus hasn't gotten into her eye. So far she says that she can see fine, but I guess this can cause blindness. Say a little prayer for her.

We drove on home...met a Sheriff patrolmen, I knew he was there (radar detector) but he flashed his lights at me and gave me the slow down sign as he went by.....so I did, until I left the county and then bumped it back up to 70. Maybe he liked Corvettes... who knows. Tomorrow eve I have the second half of our club tourney, I hope that I don't have a bad night, like it sounds that Brad had. I don't really expect to win, but I want to play respectable.

Sorry for the long windedness tonight, just lots going on. See you tomorrow. Sometime when I have more time I'm coming back to this thread and study the instructions that Bill is giving.

Good morning guys.....Wife, FIL and MIL got back after about 2 1/2 hours. MIL has a case of shingles, it has presented itself on her face. At least it's not worse. she has other health issues (being in her mid 80's), but really is holding up well.

We will need to go to pick up some Rx for her this morning. And later we will head off for our reunion. Tommy, Matt, thanks for the well wishes. Hopefully Tommy, you'll get your drive in. Matt, who was the swimmer that you met? My girls swam competitively for years and my oldest still follows swimming very closely....grandkids now swim competitively. Bill, have a good day at the track.

evening guys, It's been a long day. Busy at school, so I didn't have time to check in here. When I got home I got the Corvette out and ready to head for the in-laws. Nearly three hour drive here. Before we get here, the wifes sister called and said Mom wasn't feeling well. So when we got here I was unloading, the wife came into the house and by the time I came in with the lugage, my wife says they are taking Mom to the hospital. So I'm here alone, stealing internet access from a neighbor. We have a class reunion tomorrow.

Morning guys, two periods down....four to go. Beautiful day here 69* looking for a high in the mid 80's. Should be outside, but alas, it's not to be. Not much else going on. Someday, I'll come up for Carlisle, I believe it has to be one of the great shows anywhere.

First day down only 174 to go. I think it's going to work out pretty well. My classes are bigger than last year, just not sure yet whether I can handle the middle schoolers bouncing off the walls.

Morning gurus.....I spent yesterday in meetings all morning and then again in the afternoon. We (the VocEd dept) are in the middle of redefining our programs and transitioning to "pathways" from the old VE2 crap. What I am finding out is I need to teach about 8 different classes, only problem is we have a 7 period day and by law I get a "planning period", so that means I'm not spread thin enough.....what BS. More crap because the Federal & state govt have gotten their hands into the education system and f@*ked it up royally.

First and second periods over. So far so good, kids are pretty mundane thus far. They really don't have a chance to say much the first day or two. The weather here is just perfect, looking for highs in low 80's and a little breeze. Hope you have a great Weds.

Erin, when I bought tires for my C5, I found that the Michelins were actually cheaper than the Kumhos. Speaking comparable tire for tire. If you live that close to TireRack, I'd certainly go down there and pick their brains.

BTW, I love my Michelins.

Thanks Tommy.....but I'm a realist, even the guys I'm playing with sandbag some, they'll come back next Monday and shoot 4-6 strokes better. I'll do my best, but I'm figuring that I've just donated.

Ron, that sounds like a very profitable afternoon. We had mens night tonight, but this week is the first night of the club championship. So that means we don't play a scramble, but play our own ball for the round. Then next week they flight us according to our score this week. Well, I played the best round I've played in more than three years....sounds great, but that means I'll be playing with guys way above me next week, talent wise and I've just donated $40 to someone else. Two of the guys I played with tonight that I beat, will play guys I should be playing. I just can't sandbag. Even though I knew I was play out of my league tonight, I just couldn't "take a dive". Me and my dam* principles.

See you guys tomorrow!

Morning gurus.....late for me, but Ive had meetings all morning, so this is my first time at the computer. Our new Supt. is not the depressing speech giver the last one was. I'm almost looking forward to school this year. I left the district wide meeting in a good mood....last year I left mad and cussing, ready for retirement. Well, I did retire, but I'm back by choice and things look better with new leadership. Middle-schoolers are difficult to gain attention, but adults are much worse, the best to you today Brad. AAAHHH runzas, now you're making me hungry.....As for the "big butt", I've gotten past that, because of the perks we get because of it. Many are painting the lower recessed section right above the exhaust pipes black (similar to the way the C6's are from the factory) to reduce the "big butt" appearance...seems to work reasonably well.

Well, I got to run. Have a great day!

I'm a bit younger than Ron, I'm a late-comer to teaching and started only in 79. I have meetings for next couple of days and then I have kids Weds.

Our new Supt. bought a house just down the street from me, and today as they were walking to church (I've got the Corvette out cleaning it up), he hollers at me "Are you ready for school to start?". I answered "If I'm not, do I have to come in tomorrow?" He said "Yes" so I told him "I guess it really doesn't matter then does it?"....We both laughed.

Hey Erin, I've got a daughter who graduated in 2000. See, Ron and I have lots in common. Yea, kids act differently, but in reality, kids are kids, and have been for at least the 30+ years I've been teaching. The thing that has changed most is the government stepping in, telling us how and what to teach. I'll be ready tomorrow, come hell or high water.

Good morning gurus....I went to bed late last night. Stayed up watching the Royals playing a double header with the White Sox. Fridays game got rained out, so the umpires decided to play a double header last night...started the first game at 6:10. First game went to 11 innings and the second game didn't start until after 10pm, I fell asleep in my chair before the game was over, I don't even know who won....Chicago, I'd guess, they were ahead when I fell asleep.

I was really tired anyway from golf yesterday, the team didn't play that well (didn't expect to), but I made good contact with the ball and hit the ball very well.

Rick you're up later than me! Pete, have a safe trip home. Brad, don't go and get too much done the wife will begin to expect it . Bill.....WAKE UP! LOL Matt, have a nice run, I think I'll veg out here today.

Need to clean the dust off the Corvette as I took it to golf yesterday and drove down a dusty road to the course, that's my plan for today. You gurus have a great day.

Morning guys...Not much here today. I'm up, sort of. Better get use to getting up at this time as Monday the grind starts again. I get to play golf in our league faculty tournament. It's not a serious tourney, just a get together to have some fun at the beginning of a new year. A good way to spend the Saturday.

I hope everyone here has a great Friday.
