Invitations? Don't we just call people up and tell them to come if they got time?

Good Morning! Back to the grind. Temps should be a little better today. My daughter and her fiance are flying into Omaha this afternoon so I will there to pick them up. They are here to finalize the wedding location and plans and get her dress picked out. Why does all this sound like money to me?

Hope everyone has a safe and prosperous day!

Thanks Brad! I am relieved that I am not a post whore. In my calculations I have made approx. 2.2 posts per day since I signed up back in 09.

On the other hand your are showing an average of 4.954 posts per day using the same slide rule. Hmmmmmmmm! Is that P.W. territory? Just asking.........

Tommy is hitting the bell with 9.102 texts per day but that is his job and how he makes his living.

Good Morning Guru's! The sun is shining but its only a trick the temp is minus brutal and the wind chill is even worse.

Tommy take care today it's going to be hot down there, take your sunscreen. I have had 6 spots cut off me and dozens of potential spots frozen off. I have worked or played outside all of my life and I do work at being more careful now.

Matt we love to go to Stuff Mart and get more stuff. We figure we will just build on to the house to hold it all. I have to agree with you that my stuff is way cooler than her stuff. Actually we have had to have the "we have got enough junk around here talk", but then she always wants to go out and look at my shop like there is some corellation there.

Reflections on hitting 1000 posts. A year and a half ago I was needing answers about my car and googled Corvette Forums and actually ended up on another forum that was not CF. Wife came in one day and saw several of the avatars and said that wasn't working for her and I didn't like the way they did business anyway so I looked again and that is when I found the Guru.

I got some good answers and a lot of encouragement and so I slowly started to learn all about my C4. I am still learning and enjoy the interaction between a good group of folks. My question is when do you know your a post whore?
Not that I really care I'm addicted now (or so my wife says)and look forward to hitting 2000 posts and beyond!

thanks for all the help, I will need more! Have a good day guys!

Consider carefully how much you want to spend on your car. Most of the money you spend will never be recaptured. If you are going to keep the car and love the car then the money will be well spent. There is no end to what you can spend to go faster!

Then when the engine is strong will the tranny and rear end hold up to the power? I am not trying to discourage you, but these are all things that I have considered in modding my own car. My car is a 90 with 55K and is worth 8 to 10K one a good day. I will be doing exhaust mods this winter and clean up the intake side next winter. Gain should be 40 to 45 hp and 25 to 30 ft/lbs of torque.

That's as far as I want to go on this car. If I want more I will take the money and move up to the C6 cars and put my money on the new platform. I'm just saying.......

You have to consider if you want to get all you can out of your stock engine which can happen with a few mods like exhaust and other mods as mentioned above. Or go the whole built to the nuts bucks up option. Or sell you car and go get an LS3 car and put your time and money in it.

You are only confused now because your Vette is broken. Soon you will rediscover your first love and see the tarted up little foreign car for what it really is.

Always in motion, the future is! In the 70's it was the coming ice age and when funding for that ran out then we heard about global warming and the money poured out.

The earth has gone through cycles forever, there is no reason to believe that will ever quit. I think maybe the ice age gets my vote as I look outside.

Uhh, and while you are at it pull the pan and check the bottom end. If you start adding to the top you will need the foundation to handle it.

I wish I could have hydro therapy not to mention all that great food.

I remember the blizzard of 48. Not that I was born yet but I have heard my old man talk about it every time we would get any weather, that I actually think I can remember it.

He and Ma were on their way back from Montana after Christmas break headed to Lincoln where they went to college on the GI bill. They got caught in Hot Springs S. Dakota and were there a week staying with people who put them up. No cell phones, no TV, food ok because the woman canned garden stuff and meat. They wouldn't take any money for it either.

I told told my Dad at least it wasn't Wall S. Dakota. Brad will understand that. I have seen the pics of the snow and it was impressive.

Dad would then launch into how he almost died at Kadoka S. Dakota one year of food poisining and I do remember that, I must have been about 3 or 4.........but that is a story for another day.

No school here much to the delight of my wife (teacher) and Ultraboy. Everybody did their P90X workout and now are having turkey bacon scrambles. Mmmmmmm!

Brad if that was a crime in my house I'd be doing life without parole!

Very cold here and lots of wind. I am going to go fishing with Tommy in my mind today and I don't care if I even catch anything.

Bill, good luck with your plumping. Is that like eating 2 pizzas instead of one.

Spring is coming and the Corvettes will be rolling. Have a good day guys!

Strangly enough, they showed up on Ultraboys menu along with stuffed crust pizzas and crab rangoons. After I got my reading glasses on I saw that he had tried to print real neatly under the shrimp stir fry and butternut squash soup.

Tom, I think the 90X is just double what the P90 does. Do you go for an hour or 1/2 hour? On most days they will go through the excercises and then do them all again. I do ok on the first half hour but it gets real sloppy on the last half. Ya sometimes I just lay there like a slug.

It gets worse, they have a program now called Insanity, where you are supposed to get ripped in 60 days. No old guys in those ads.

Morning gents! Snowy cold gray but I feel goooood! Just did my P90X workout so I got that oxygen debt high going. Actually for me it was a P30X. Do your best forget the rest! The whole family has bought in and the hardest part is the food prep and staying on target there.

Ultraboy has put on 25 or more lbs since he broke his arm and a lot of it is fat. He is working out but not enough aerobics so to get him to do the P90 we all had to agree to do it. We eat not so good some times because we don't want to take time to fix something so it's down to the fast food joints to stock up on fat. We like the system because it is all laid out with the excercise and meal plans each day. We took before pics and we will see what we look like in 90. I don't think I will post them on the Guru.

Let's start the week off by kicking some ass and getting some work done. Have a good day!

Hi gang! Cold and clear out. Spent most of the day in Lincoln yesterday doing some shopping. It was in the 40's most of the day until the cold front came in.

As I was going from place to place I spotted a C4 prowling thru a parking lot. I was going in that direction so followed them in. The car was Silver Matallic and looked to be a in the 88 to 90 range. I pulled in next to them and waited as a spry 70 something woman got out of the drivers side and got her cane out. I rolled down the window and said I liked her car and asked what year it was. She came right over and we started talking Vettes. This one was an 88 that they drove around town and it had grocery bags in the back. They bought it new.

She said they had a 96 at home in the garage. I could see that she needed to go so I said goodby and took off. As I left I saw her helping an elderly man out of the passenger side whom I take it must be her husband. It was a nice car, bone stock I'm betting and I really liked the color. I told her I had a 90 with the Charcoal Met.

It amazes me the variety of folks that get bitten by the Vette bug. Looking at this couple you would think they would be driving a mid 90 Buick Lesabre. I hope I see them again I am sure they have an interesting story.

Have a good day boys and girls!

Yikes! I wonder how much those guys get paid? Would I climb it for a new Z06? Maybe a ZR1. I'm suprised that there isn't more movement of the tower at that height.

A strange beginning to the Sat thread. Why am I up so early? Going in to Star City today to get stuff. We are almost out of stuff. Watched the Mecum auction last night and always wonder what it would be like to have that kind of money to go and bid whatever to buy a dream car.

Trouble is I have had a lot of dream cars and let them go a long time ago. Nuts! Have a good day off guys!

Ahh Matt, I remember those days or nights. It seemed that it would be good for awhile then we would get into a period where it wasn't so good. To encourage you, this is the easy part, it gets worse. Just kidding!

Dave, good luck on your move, hope it all goes well for you and yours.

Friday is the best part of the week for me with the promise of the whole weekend ahead of us. Got stuff to do, people to see and a living to make so I best be about it. Enjoy Guru's.

Top of the morning to everyone. Nice here today in the 40's. We will be grilling steaks out on the deck. I clicked on a link yesterday and all the avatars are gone and I really miss them. All except one of them that is. Any idea how to restore them back to normal?

I like to see what folks come up with and I miss the bs meter. Why did I click on that link, why?

More work and more meetings and get some parts ordered for the Vette. That's my day. Hope your day is good also.

Wow, that is amazing - who'da thunk it after all those years!

BTW that '63 of yours was a beauty!

I hung my head and cried when it drove out the driveway.
Had to have the cash, business to build and kids needed shoes.

I thought I would send her a note saying thanks and sorry I barged in on her. I could ask a few questions and see if she would write back. I will let her know that I would like to come back and see her this summer when I go see my mom again.

I really would like to document that 69. The 58 I think like Tommy says is a memorial. 20 years ago I was only looking at the C1's and C2's and only remember glancing at the 69.

I think you are right Tommy! The kid died in 84 or 85 and they drug that 58 home and it has never moved since. I stopped down the road about a mile after I left her place and there was a farmer working on a corral fence. I started up a conversation about the price of corn and then asked him about the old woman. I am really wishing he doesn't say, what old woman, she has been gone for years!

Thankfully he said yeah, she never leaves the place and her daughter must bring her food. There is no indoor plumbing, so I am like how do you take a bath......and...never mind!

He did say that he thought she had a new TV though.

I'm thinking I should call the county and let them know what is going on there. Or not.

Back in 1989 I was living in Kansas and had found a 63 roadster under a tree in a guys back yard. It was all there just wore out and as I later discovered a rotted frame.

Before and after, nice car one of only 400 with triple tan that year. 300 hp 4sp with tinted glass.

As happens when you get into a project and guys start dropping by to chat and look at what is going on, you start to hear Vette stories. You know the Big block that the guy died in and they were selling for $100 because they could't get the smell out of. I have heard those all my life along with WW II Harleys packed in cosmaline.

One day a guy stopped in and we talked about how I found my 63 and he said "you know I once heard of an old lady up by some little town that has a bunch of old Vettes just sitting around in her farm yard". I'm like yeah yeah, hand me that 1/2" would you. He said I will find out and call you.

About a week later he shows up and says, want to go for a little drive? I said sure what's up? He says, I think I know where those Vettes are at. Let me grab my coat says I. We drove about a half hour and then turned off on some back roads and finally came to this old run down looked like abandoned farm house and as we pulled in the drive I saw several old cars sitting around and over to the side a very rough looking 63 split window. Holy shit, I mumbled as I stumbled out of his pickup and ran up to the cars. No engine or tranny but it had a blue interior and it had no paint and had sat out so long that the fiberglass mat was starting to delaminate.

Along with that was a 62 roadster and a totaled 58 roadster and a 69 big block coupe. Unbelievable! On the way up my friend had told me this farm kid had a thing for Vettes and was collecting old ones and was going to restore them in his barn. He was in town drinking one night and took off in his 58 and somehow got it rolled over and it killed him and totaled the car. The 58 was there covered with black plastic.

It was then that an old woman came out on the porch and yelled at us to get away from her cars. We went over to talk to here and try to buy the cars. She was pissed and wouldn't have anything to do with us so after awhile we left and I went back to my project and pretty much forgot about it all.

Jump ahead 21 years I am in Kansas yesterday seeing my Mom on her 88 th birthday and after heading back I got to thinking about those cars and if I could find that old place. So I took off and started looking and after awhile I drove past it and then stopped and backed up. The drive in was snowy and grown over and I drove in and as I looked ahead I could make out the black tarped lumps with snow and junk laying over the cars. I jumped out and waded through the snow hoping that I would find that old 63 split under one of those piles. My hearts pumping and I'm trying to tear the plastic back far enough to see what cars were there.

Turns out the 58 was still there and the 69 big block but the 63 and 62 were gone. I looked in the sheds and old barn but didn't see much. I am standing there thinking about how to get the cover off that 69 to look at the engine when I hear, "Hey get away from those cars!" I look up and there at the back door of that delapidated abandoned old farm house stands that same old woman, only now she is ancient. Holy cow! I'm just staring at her, my mind is blank. My jaw has to be open about a foot.

You still live here? I ask incredulously. I start walking over to her real easy like so as not to scare her or get shot. I told her I was here 20 years ago looking at the Vettes, she is just staring at me. About now the Twilite Zone music is starting to play in my head. I'm thinking I should be getting back to the real world. What happened to the 63 and 62 I asked. Nothing for about 10 seconds then she says "I got family". Ok, do you want to sell the 69? Those cars arn't for sale she says. Ok, well good to see you again do you need anything? Food, is your heat on anything? No, gotta new TV, she says. Good, good, well gotta go nice to see you. I did not want to go in and see her new TV.

Long story but a true one here are some pics of the cars that I took with my blackberry yesterday.

As hard core republican as I am I still have to like the guy. He had a good upbeat speach and if words could turn to action then we might get somewhere. At least everyone is talking and sitting together......you gotta start somewhere.

Good morning! Took yesterday off and drove to Kansas to take my Mom out for lunch. It was her 88th birthday and I took our Yorkshire terrier along since she has always loved dogs but can't have one of her own. We had a great day and I took her some flowers. She is doing well sharp as ever and always looking forward to some event. Old school republican she was eager to hear what the President had to say in the State of the Union address.

On my way back I stopped off at an old abandoned farm house that I had been at 20 years ago that has some corvettes under wraps and to my suprise...... You can read my post on that later today, very interesting story.

Now I have to make up the work I missed yesterday but it was worth it. Let's roll Guru's, we're burning daylight!
