Now that was funny. My Italian is not so good but I did love the screaming and I believe at one point she recommended he have sexual relations with himself with arm gestures to drive the point home. LOL. Wow she talks alot. There is no way I would bring my wife out on the track because I would have the same thing happen but in English. Video is so much fun.

Good Morning, sunshine and clear skies here is Southwestern Michigan. Finally Friday. Not much planned for this weekend. Here are a couple of pics I found rather appealing, hope they are up to guru standards.

I was thinking about doing this myself until I get new wheels. Here is one of a few I have saved over time.

Good after noon all, fun post today. I liked Knight Rider but as cars go I wanted the Cody Coyote from HardCastle and McCormack (?).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LYI5UT_hXzA

Kids have been in school a few weeks and I am busier than ever, thought I would have more time online. Last week I was real sick and didn't feel better until Friday afternoon, which since then it has been raining until today. Wow, glad thats over. It's still cloudy but is supposed to be clear the rest of the week.

Watched Michigan get spanked by Notre Dame, not much else to say about that.

Well, it's about time to get ready for work. I'll be putting in a lot of OT from now on to pay for my winter vette projects. My list will be about 8 g's, I will be entering budget negotiations soon with my wife, wish me luck(I think it will cost me a new kitchen remodel).

Have a great day, Dave.

There is another vette that looks like my 92 where I work, even the same color, however because of my schedule I have not been able to talk to the owner. It has the A-mold rims and insignia of the ZR1 but it does not look any different than mine. I thought all the ZR1s had the top mount brake lights, this one has his in the rear bumper like mine. The rear wheels are not 315's either. I would love to have a look under the hood, I have never seen a LT5 in person if that is what is there. What do you think?

I am curious for your reason to remove the air bag. Are you installing an aftermarket steering wheel? If so, post some pics. I have no complaints about my steering wheel in my 92, air bag is a good safety item, but I have found several steering wheels that look great and I have been considering using one. I would love to have one like in my wife's new Malibu. It has all the buttons for stereo and cruise at your finger tips, really cool. :thumbleft:

Good morning all, TGIF. I don't have much planned for today, lift some weights and then off to work.

Tomorrow my wife and I will be going out with my dad and giving his firearms a good work out. He has a variety of handguns and rifles(need to be dialed in for hunting). My wife has never fired a weapon before and is looking forward to shooting a handgun. He has a 9mm that is fairly friendly, I think she will have fun. He has a .357 I really like.

Hot chick Friday,

Replacement of mine was not too bad, these guys are right on with their advice. Patience will go a long way and a FSM would be helpful, helped me. I am so glad I did mine, makes a world of difference in looks and function. Unfortunately, the previous owner neglected this to the point the felt had worn away and the pad rusted, scratching the crap out of my window. Like the man said, Git-R-done. :thumbleft:

"Big Weenies" mod. I've never heard of that one. I would be interested in whats involved. I will be replacing my wheel bearings soon and I want to go with the 315's, maybe this is something I should consider?

Excellent answer and your spot on about the humidity. That gives us some points of interest to look at. I live in a rural town and like the space out here.

I was born and raised here, Michigan is nice. Lots to do if your into hunting and fishing, which I am not. Winters have not been kind to the snow skiing and snowmobiling enthusiasts. We want to choose were we live instead of living by default. My wife's best friend is moving to Oahu, Hawaii in two weeks and it has us thinking. BTW, want to have a giggle, google rent in Oahu, LOL, wow.

Thanks :thumbright:

Edit: Reno, sounds cool. Gonna give that a serious look as well. I did not know about difference in weather between Utah and Arizona.

'Grass is greener' will keep it real. thanks.

Hmmm. Sweet Emotions?

Good Morning All, don't have much planned for today. Maybe a bike ride with the kids.

I think I'll also dust off the weights and give it a go. It's been a long time, used to go to Worlds Gym before the kiddies came along. Matthew, talking about hitting the weights has inspired me to start working out again. I used to have a 54" chest, 20" arms, and a 31" waist, fourteen years later....chest about the same, arms a little smaller, waist..well..no comment.

Sunshine, blue skies, low humidity, It's gonna be a nice day.
Cheers all.

Good day CG's, my wife and I are contemplating moving to Colorado, Utah, or Arizona and want to know what areas any of you like. We have been doing searches online for various info but nothing beats word of mouth. We want to be close to the mountains, not so much the desert areas. We are looking at moving in a year or two. Any feedback would be helpful. Thanks.

Finally Friday and this time I am prepared.

It looks like my plans for this weekend may have to be changed. This is the weekend of the 28th ST. Metro Cruise and it is now steadily raining and looks like it will continue through out the weekend, bummer. Upside, at least I don't have to do yard work.

I am currently having a problem with my ride, seems the window switch is no longer working and I can't put up my window, glad I have a garage. I went to Corvette Central to see what one of those little plastic switches cost, Holy Crap $169. That and it needs new rear wheel bearings (going HD tappered) it may be down for a while. Uhhh....god I love driving that thing.

Here's another pic to leave you with.

See Ya, Dave.

That may have been before my time but I still did those things in my youth. I really miss the drive-in A&W and the drive-in movies, both are long gone here. Still lots of car action around though, this weekend is the 28th St Metro Cruise here in Grand Rapids...something like 250,000 people.
Thanks Notorious, cool video.

Good afternoon gents, another beautiful day here in western Michigan.

It seems my 14 year old son broke his hand, still don't believe it was an accident but rather a quick burst of anger and punched something. The doctor says he will be fine but gets to wear a cast. I told him he needs a good cover story for school in two weeks, to impress the girls. "I got mad and punched a wall" doesn't sound too slick.

The boys and I usually go bike riding on the local trails on Wednesdays but its not safe for "lefty" to ride so we'll have to find something else to do.

Well, the days a getting shorter and the nights are getting cooler and it's soon college football time. U of M, go blue.

I've got nothing else and it's time to get ready for work.
Later, Dave.

Your welcome. I have received a lot of help here and it is nice to be able to return the help. I have been considering doing this to my 92 and had these saved for reference. You can pick these up as decals to see if you like them before committing to paint. I had never seen a Grand Sport in person, but did run across an early C4 done up and it looked really cool, now if I could only make up my mind on what color I like best.

Dave.

You said it, "The most wonderful time of the year".

My 14 year old will be a freshman this year, not too thrilled going back.

My 7 year old will be starting the 3rd grade, and very happy to go back...he's a real prodigy. He loves to read and learn new languages(loves learning sign language, German, and French, not Spanish which they have to take in school) which he must get from his mother.....loves cool cars, gets that from me.

September 2nd is the happy date. :thumbright:

Good afternoon everybody.

Ok Matthew, I'll jump in.

My oldest just left with grandpa for a weekend of camping leaving me with my 7 year old son. That means since the vette seats two, he and I are taking it to work today (my wife picks him up there-opposite shifts ya know), and it is warm and sunny here in southern Michigan today.

Sorry, no hot chick pics to add but I shall endeavor to be better prepared for next Friday, ahhhhh research.

Have a great day and keep the shinny side up,

Dave.

1" is not bad. Isn't the backspacing on the 11" ZR1 wheel 36mm? If you add the GS flare would that not net the same affect? Anyway, they are cool, and I like the 900, very much in my price range. Thanks for posting the pics. :thumbright:

Gaskets?....what gaskets would that be? I recently replaced the radiator on my 92 and the previous owner had put on a K&N filter and I do not remember seeing any gaskets during tear down. I figured the same thing you did, it's on there already, why not leave it. Hmmmm.

Well, the rotor is flat and bled the brake lines and they did need it (looked like tea coming out of there), but this did not help with the noise. This is a learning experience, trouble shooting that is. Thanks jim420.

CentralCoaster, is this a safety issue I should be concerned with? I've never heard of this problem with any car before now, but I don't know of too many people who have an IRS. I searched the threads here and found the ones with the tapered bearings, I just may have to go that route. Are they difficult to put in? Thanks.

I have a 92 coupe. I am still having a problem with the left rear wheel area. It usually makes a scrapping sound like when you've let the brakes go for too long and they start the metal on metal grind but the surfaces are smooth and I have found no sign of metal shavings or fresh marks. When I make a moving turn under slow speeds I hear a popping sound. My kids say they can hear this when I leave the driveway on my way to work everyday. I put it up on stands today and had my son rotate the tire while I was under the car looking for anything not right. I've checked for play in the wheel (bearings) and movement of the half shaft (joints) and they seem in good shape. Caliper binding? I am not sure what avenue to take to fix this , any suggestions would be very appreciated. Thanks.

After I bought my 92 coupe I did an online search for anything about Corvettes and came across Digital Corvettes. They had a lot of info and being rather friendly, I hung around. One of the posts recommended C4guru.com as a good source for C4 enthusiasts. I lurked for awhile here then joined. It felt comfortable like the local garage hangout on Saturday night where you can have fun and learn a bit. Interesting people with a good sense of humor. I still cruise around DC but I consider this home. :thumbright:

It is a 92. The parking brake gets my attention. The cable running to the caliper has a kink and the housing is split and it looks like the housing has been rubbing on something. The parking brakes have not worked since I bought it. How should I proceed? Could I disconnect it and zip tie it up out of the way to check?

My wonderful wife surprised me with car parts for my vette. The shocks were shot when I bought it and it sat about 1 inch lower on the left side, really bugged me. I was torn between KYBs and Bilsteins. KYBs are a good brand at a good price but I had really wanted the Bilsteins. She managed to order a full set of Bilsteins, adjustable spring bolt set (to level and lower my ride), and a brake pedal pad (also missing when I bought it) all from Corvette Central....without me knowing. I had been studying up with the FSM and the great threads here on the guru. Thanks Andy for the Tech library article for the front shocks:thumbright:. The entire job went off without a hitch (never had that happen before, especially with a car with 142,000 miles). Oh Yeah, that hit the spot. I am geeked with the results:banana21: . I would like to thank my wife, Angela, and everyone here for sharing their knowledge.

Knocking sound from the Left rear wheel area

About a week ago I noticed a knocking sound when I accelerate quickly but not if I drive "nice". There is no rattle, cluncking, or vibration while cruising on the highway.I checked for anything loose when I put in my new shocks and adjustable spring bolts, nothing. A guess would be it's brake related. Is there something with the rear brakes that could cause binding under load? I do not feel any problems while braking, it brakes rather well. It is loud enough to be heard from a distance, the guys at work informed me. Thanks.

Mine went in with no problem, just peel and stick. :thumbright: BTW, Remove them before cleaning the window, I used Windex to clean the hatch and when I was done my son pointed out that most of the printing was gone. I'm glad I asked for three. Live and learn.

I've had all of mine removed. All four(not at the same time) only used novicane to numb and then he used a set of pliers that looked like needle nose pliers and pulled them out. It surprised me at how big they are. He packed the area with gauze and prescribed some 800 mg Ibuprofen for the pain. Next day I was good to go. No problems with all four. My daughter had hers removed surgically, not pleasant.

:goodpost: Congrats Case, very cool. How did you manage to end up in the driver's seat? 1 of 24, that's a score.

I get out of work at midnight and I have a 20 mile trip home, 14 of that is highway. Last night, full moon and clear, I was on my way home and noticed I had the highway all to my self and the thought of dropping the hammer immediately came to mind. I rarely ever do it but every now and then when there is no traffic, highway only, I like to indulge. As quick as the grin came to my face at the thought, I felt this overwhelming "feeling" of DON'T DO IT! I kept to the speed limit, I never saw anyone all the way home, and nothing happened. Experience has taught me to never ignore things like this and I usually encounter what it is that would have been the disaster, but not last night. Well, better safe than dead. :thumbleft:

Bravo. Absolutely, her crew chief and pit crew should all have a hand on that trophy. I'm sure none of her competitors willingly helped her win.

Bogus is right on. My first purchase (guru recommended) after bringing the vette home was the FSM (bought from Helminc.com). I have always bought Haynes manuals, nice for pictures but rather vague and not year specific. The FSM is worth every penny. :thumbright:

I'm seeing it...wow. Looks like he's a gym teacher but must have been a mathematics major in college, lots of geometry going on there.

I need to order some parts from Corvette Central and I'm not sure if there is a banner ad for them and I wouldn't want guru to miss out on a commission. Is there a central location to find them? Thanks. :thumbright:
