First the good stuff: GeigerCars has upgraded the 6.0L V8 with a supercharger, added a new ECU and piped in a new stainless steel exhaust system, bringing the magic numbers up to 556 horsepower and 564 lb-ft of torque.

GeigerCars also upgraded the suspension, dropping the ride height by 100 millimeters and adding new anti-roll bars. The most obvious addition, though, are the rims. Forget about dinner plates, this sick puppy rides on freakin' flying saucers: giant chrome 30-inch rims, 10 inches wide at all four corners. The mammoth wheels are shod with 315/30R 30 Pirelli Scorpion Zero tires. The wheel and tire package alone costs ?28,000, but GeigerCars also offers packages with 20, 22, 24, 26 and 28-inch rims. (Remember when 18 inches were considered big?) Bringing all that heft to a stop, GeigerCars have outfitted the HUMMER GT with a ?10,000 brake system with 15-inch cross-drilled discs with 8-pot calipers up front.

Inside the cabin, GeigerCars outfitted the truck with faux carbon trim and a full multimedia sytem with sat-nav, DVD player and television receiver showing on twin LCDs. Finally, outside, the HUMMER GT was painted in the baby blue and orange livery of the classic Porsche 917 of McQueen LeMans fame, complete with Gulf logos above the rear fender. The party piece, though (as if the blingtastic sport-ute needed more), are the front doors that can be opened normally or upwards, scissor-style.

With all the do-dads and bolt-ons listed here, the HUMMER GT sells for a jaw-dropping ?133,900, and will propel itself to sixty in 7.9 second flat. This HUMMER really is "like nothing else", and if all that flash won't get you noticed, nothing will

This photo was taken last September at Our Lady's Grotto, at Mount Saint Mary's University in Emmitsburg, Maryland. The site is also known as the National Shrine Grotto of Lourdes. The cemetery is located near the shrine, which traces its linage to the very beginnings of the spread of Catholicism in America.

First-term Sen. Barack Obama has the charisma and ambition to run for president, but is he ready to answer the tough questions? Foremost among them is whether he will run in 2008, and he's not denying it. But the mania surrounding the Illinois Democrat's book tour is reminiscent of the Colin Powell mania in 1995, when the general leveraged speculation of a presidential run into huge book sales. And that's not all they have in common

Star Fleet Capt. Jean-Luc Picard commanded it. Now some Trekkie owns it.
A model of the Starship Enterprise used in the pilot and title sequences of "Star Trek: The Next Generation" sold for $576,000 Saturday at an auction of costumes, sets and props from 40 years of the "Star Trek" sci-fi franchise.

The 78-inch-long miniature of the "Enterprise-D," built by Industrial Light and Magic, debuted in 1987 in the episode "Encounter at Farpoint," and then was used in many subsequent episodes, as well as the film "Star Trek Generations."

More than 1,000 items from the archives of CBS Paramount Television Studios went on the block over three days at Christie's auction house, and by early afternoon on Saturday fans of the series had forked over more than $4.9 million for set furniture, pointy Vulcan ears and other props.

Some Christie's employees taking bids by telephone wore Star Trek uniforms, and a live feed of the auction was carried on the History Channel's Web site.

Other top sellers on Saturday's action included a replica of Capt. James T. Kirk's command chair from the bridge of the spaceship on the original "Star Trek" series.

The painted wood chair was only a re-creation for a 1996 episode of "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" that mixed action from that newer series with old footage, but it still sold for $62,400.

I guess they can no longer be called non-violent criminals.

Inmate awaiting child porn trial beaten to death in jail
John Derek Chamberlain, 41, of Mission Viejo was in shower when inmates attacked, officials say.
By KIMBERLY EDDS
The Orange County Register
SANTA ANA ? An inmate awaiting trial on child pornography charges was beaten to death in a shower at the Theo Lacey Branch Jail by a group of fellow inmates Thursday night, officials said.

John Derek Chamberlain, 41, of Mission Viejo was arrested Sept. 14 on suspicion of having child pornography with intent to sell. He pleaded not guilty Sept. 18 and his trial was scheduled for Oct. 24.

Chamberlain was awaiting his trial in a section of the jail that houses nonviolent criminal offenders, sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino said. He was in the shower at about 6:30 p.m. Thursday when an unknown number of inmates attacked him, he said.

"They kicked him ? they beat him while he was in the shower," Amormino said. "Then they dragged him to another location near his bunk and they beat him some more."

Chamberlain was transported to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he was pronounced dead at 7:30 p.m.

"Not every move is being monitored," Amormino said. "They are being held for nonviolent crimes. The guard isn't standing there watching them shower."

A total of 140 inmates were being held in that section of the jail at the time.

Sheriff's investigators are interviewing the 140 inmates who are being held in that section of the jail at the time.

A sexy woman went up to the bar in a quiet rural pub. She gestured
alluringly to the bartender who approached her immediately. She
seductively signaled that he should bring his face closer to hers. As
he did, she gently caressed his full beard.
"Are you the manager?" she asked, softly stroking his face with both hands.
"Actually, no," he replied.
"Can you get him for me? I need to speak to him," she said, running her
hands beyond his beard and into his hair.
"I'm afraid I can't," breathed the bartender. "Is there anything I can do?"
"Yes. I need for you to give him a message," she continued, running her
forefinger across the bartender's lips and slyly popping a couple of her
fingers into his mouth and allowing him to suck them gently.
"What should I tell him?" the bartender managed to say.
"Tell him," she whispered, "there's no toilet paper, hand soap, or
paper towels in the ladies room!"
