That sounded like a much better solution. Probably a lot less messy too.

Here's a bit of info for those with early c4's. The fogs do not turn off when the high beams are turned on. It is this way for my 85.

Why do you think it needs new injectors? When the plugs were changed a few were fuel fouled. They are original. From the records that I have from previous owners they were only had a fuel injections cleaning service done once.

Question guys. My 85 needs new injectors. I do have the FSM but was wondering how hard of a job this is and can it be done over a weekend or two? Also any tricks I should know about that may make it easier. What would be the best ones to use for replacement? And if this helps, there are no mods on the car.

Thanks

Here is what I was sent. Hope this helps.

The headlight housing cover is held onto the headlight drive housing by a couple of small torx head screws just under the headlight and a phillips head screw on each outside towards the rear. You can see them with the hood open. The headlight hood plate is held on by two bolts with 9 or 10mm heads just under the headlight cover, and a couple more at the back end under the headlight bulb. If you turn on the headlights and then at the midpoint of their swing open/out, push the knob back in just until the power to the lights stops, you can get at all of the screws and bolts. You can also use the manual motor screw on top of the headlight motors to manually rotate each headlight to the midway point.

You don't need to remove anything to make the adjustment. Just loosen the headlight hood plate cover bolts a bit and tweak the plate until it sits flush. This may take a few attempts to get it exactly right, as you have to close the headlights each time to check your results. It my be a bit frustrating to get it perfect, but once you do, you will probably never have to do it again, as replacing a burned out headlamp doesn't require removing the hood plate.

There are also two bump stops that can be adjusted that look like the ones for the hood. They are what stop the headlamp assembly when rotating. These may be all you need to adjust to make your covers fit flush.

The other problem is not all of the weather stripping is available from GM anymore. I might get what I can from GM when I tackle the project and get what isn't available from an after market supplier.

I'm dreading replacing my weatherstripping this summer. Mine is in good shape problem is mine is leaking by the windshield and running behind the weather stripping. Looks like I'll wait and see when the next sale is on the set.

They are original. No screws sticking out. I was able to open it by hand using the emergency procedure. There was no grinding noise. It would start to open and just stop. Thanks agen86 for the diagrams. I'll try to look into this this weekend if it isn't raining. I do appreciate the help.

Update. I just went out and plugged them back in. Now they are working good as new. Go figure. stubborn old broad she is. Well I can't get to mad at her she gives me plenty of fun.

Ok gurus please help me out. Tonight when I turned my headlamps on the driverside would not flip. It is acting like it is stuck. I rotates about a 1/2 inch. I just ordered the FSM but in the mean time how hard is it to remove and inspect. What should I be looking for? Any help would be much appreciated. The other problem I have is I can't get it back into the carport due to the condition of my back yard. (can you say mud pit). So it may be a while before I can do things due to the rain we get here in the great NW.

Mike.

PS I"m posting here first for some help.
