That's also a sign of a bad fuel filter or fuel delivery problems. Like Andy said, codes are the first place to check. We need a little more info to help give a better diagnosis.

If the previous owner had an aftermarket radio already there is a good chance the speakers were aftermarket, as well. The installer will be able to tell the difference. That is, of course, assuming that the PO didn't use a speaker adapter harness available for the bose systems. I doubt he did though, it's not super common, AFAIK.

Good morning CGs!

How is the day so far? Getting close to the weekend for most!

I am going to a car show tonight. I have to work out quick and then hit the sack because I need to get up early. I'm meeting my buddy up there (the one who wants a vette but still can't convince the wife) and we're gonna hang out for a bit. Should be a good show. He entered the raffle to win a 1974 vette, so we'll see how that turns out.

Anything new and exciting? Hope everyone has a great day!

Congrats on the new car - start a thread and post some pics!

Good Evening CGs!

Sorry I missed chat this morning! I was so beat on my way home. I have a 25 mile drive to work, and I was falling asleep on the way back. Not exactly safe to do, but I was just so tired for some reason. Sometimes working midnights wears you down. So I got home, ate "dinner" with my wife, and went straight to bed. Feel a lot better now. Woke up, played with the rugrat, ate some grub, and I'm ready to attack my chest, shoulders, & triceps (with ab ripper!) workout. Then I'm off to work to do it all over again

Runner - I think that's cool that you have that "tradition". I don't really have any old friends out here. I moved from Detroit to Chicago about 4 years ago, and I know some people out here, but I'm closest with my wife's family (large extended family). But I have all of my "imaginary" friends on the 'puter! HA.

Everyone needs to keep Chris motivated to keep walking - so harass him about it as often as possible

Grizz - I know it's hard to get motivated sometimes. I have a couple little tasks to do on the vette, but just haven't gotten to it.

On a "neat" note, I stopped by a car restoration place today that works on all high end classics and imports. Owner showed me a 1939 chrysler he's restoring. Said it's worth about $400,000 when he's done with it :shaking: I told him I'm gonna stop by on my days off and stare at the pretties, and he said you better not or I'll put you to work...I said "ok". I could only wish. He showed me some doors and engine parts he made by hand to do restoration work on a couple of cars. Awesome. I am amazed by the level of some people's craftsmanship.

Hope everyone has a good night!

I also had a problem earlier - when my one headlight was noticeably dimmer, my battery was bad. Bad batteries can cause multiple, strange electrical problems with the C4s.

They seem a little pricey - there's a place up here that does them:

http://www.fixrim.com/index.php?page=wheelrepair

People have had good results from them.

I usually see refinished wheels running around $165-200 a piece. Unfinished 88-89 rims are usually around $50-75 a piece w/o tires, depending on condition.

Here's an example on fleabay:

Hope this helps.

I think those are one of the best looking sets of rims you can put on a C4. I prefer that color over chrome, too, so nice choice

I've had trouble using the url link in the past - apparently the coding isn't set up exactly right. It seems to forget a bracket or something.
When adding a photo just use the format "" and it should work. (w/o quotes)

Are either of the headlights dim (or dimmer)? It sounds to me like a ground, but could be a bad switch.

Any more info?

I will post some general information because I'm not 100% familiar with the 92. For wire colors, check out this site - I have used it in the past with good results.

http://www.installdr.com/Harnesses/GM-Wiring.pdf

I'm not guaranteeing it's perfect, but it's a good guide. A competent stereo shop should have no trouble with it, so I don't know why you are worried.

As far as the RCA cables in the auction you listed, those appear to be for the video portion mainly. If you look at the picture, there is a black square outlet in the back with a fuse under it - that's where the standard wiring will go. You can see the bundle of colored wires in the picture below it. You won't use all RCAs, but you could use them if you have an amp to go with it that accepts RCA inputs.

There will be an instruction manual with the head unit that details the install.

Another thing is I would replace all of the speakers while you are in there. Assuming you had the bose system, the speakers will not function properly because the impedence is different than standard speakers. And if not, I'd replace them anyway with something of better quality.

Someone with a 92 will have to give you advice on removing the interior, because I have the digidash era vette.

Good luck,

Matthew

Good morning CGs!

How is everyone's day so far? Not so bad here. We've had hot, but clear weather the past couple days, so I drove the vette to work last night. Always a nice treat Now I'm home and I'm gonna grab a little grub and do some cardio. Fun. Not really - I am not a big fan of it, but it has to be done.

Everyone else working today? Anyone playing hooky and having a fun day???

Good morning CGs!

How is everyone so far? This will be a short note, the baby is being fussy :binky:

I'm a little sore from a combination of lifting and four hours of jet skiing yesterday. What a fun hobby. But I'll tell you, once things break it's expensive like corvettes

Back to work for me tonight, and I've got a little cold or something. Very uncomfortable sore throat. I'm trying my bet not to be too close to the baby, I don't want her to catch anything.

Hope everyone has a great day.

ok, so i did a little tweaking on the audio, and got all the speakers working(that helps alot) would it help the sound out any better if you pack the rear speaker enclosures with some sort of insulation?

What is the effect that you are hoping for? Many people do use dynamat or a similar substance to help cancel out road noise which will give better sound, and it can help retain some of the soundwaves in the enclosure. Polyfill, as mentioned, is often used in subwoofer boxes that are too small of an enclosure for the speaker, to compensate for the lack of appropriate size. I don't recommend using it.

I agree the Ford GT and the Saleen are nice cars, but imho they are not "muscle cars", they are "supercars" that the average guy can't afford.

Well, I got a little nap in. Still groggy, but better than before. Now I feel like going out to dinner tonight. Texted the BIL, and I think we're gonna go out for crab if we can set up a time. Good morning CG's!

Welllllll it's friday....I'm already off for the weekend, so I hope you guys all have short days at work

Any plans for the weekend? We're supposed to have some more rain tonight and tomorrow, but Sunday I'm supposed to go jet-skiing.

I might play with the car, too, if the weather is nice. It's supposed to be 90 here today, and muggy. Ugh. We'll see how it turns out.

Hope everyone has a great day/weekend!

Matthew

I had poor experience with the dexcool in my 2003 monte carlo. The intake gasket went bad at 69,000 miles. Cost me quite a bit to get it all repaired, even with the extended warranty. I did a lot of research after it happened and found thousands of complaints online. Personally I would flush the system very well and put in regular antifreeze. I would never have it any of my cars now.

Wow - that sounds awesome. Just make sure he doesn't get frustrated and do a leg drop on your hood.

That sounds like some pretty bad luck. I hope you get it all worked out.

Haha...Bensenville actually has a Public Safety Department...This was on the news the past couple days. I saw it and felt bad for the guy, but he has a skewed sense of his car's worth.

Good morning CG's!

Wakey wakey eggs and bakey! Time to rise and shine. How is everyone's day so far? Just got home and man I am starting to get sore from my workout yesterday. It was a killer. I have to go down and do some plyometrics today. Not looking forward to it...lol.

What's on everyone's agenda for today? Trivia is tonight, but I'll likely miss it since I have to work tonight. On the plus side, it's my Friday and then I'm off for the whole weekend. Nice. I was gonna drive the beast to work today, but it's supposed to rain and since I only had it detailed last week I think I'll hold off on that. That's all for me.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Looks great Chris. I want to use vinyl or another "pleather" type material when we do mine.

Don't worry, Chris has an old pleather leisure suit you can use - he no longer wears fuschia.
