This is a little premature, but what about this one:

Was listed for 11,500 - now 8,990

http://ww2.collectorcartrader.com/details.php?adId=90259265

Resized Image

81,000 miles

Air Conditioning, Power Steering, Power Windows, Power Brakes, Power Locks, Tilt Wheel, Cruise Control, T-Tops, AM/FM, Cassette, Bucket Seats, Limited Slip Rear, Dual Exhaust

1979 CHEVROLET CORVETTE, I purchased this car in 1987 in Arizona and have garaged it since it was purchased. I have been restoring it over the past 21 years. During that time, I have added new drive shafts, dual SS exhausts, a \"Be-Cool\" aluminum radiator with dual Deralier electric cooling fans. have replaced with new front a arms, trailing arms, steering box, shocks. This year I placed brand new o-ring calipers. I have had the transmission professionally rebuilt with heavy duty parts and the motor has also been professionally built. The motor has a 4 bolt main and 10:1 compression with roller rockers, a 268 competition cam, windage tray, forged pistons with total seal rings, three row timing chain, heads are brand new \"world products\" 194 heads which flow like camel back heads and SS valves and screw in studs. The motor has approximately 2000 miles on it. I change the oil 2 times per year weather it needs it or not with Schaeffers Semi- synthetic Oil and Hastings dual filter. I have a 1980 corvette aluminum intake manifold with rebuilt Rochester carburetor with a K%N high volume air cleaner. I did this for the gas mileage, but if you replace intake and carburetor you will have a real screamer. Interior has been replaced with custom fire proof aviation vinyl and was repainted about 8 years ago. Due to being garaged, has some dings in the paint and will need some touching up. Under carriage is clean and has no sign of rust on frame. The air-conditioning will need to be recharged as I have replaced the hoses. I also have all aluminum shielding, radiator, and extra parts that I can sell separately

Sounds like the theft deterrent feature of the radio. Do you know the reset code?

I don't know if the radio is the same for the later C4s and the C5s. If it is, there is an unlock procedure on CF. Maybe it will help?? Sorry if it doesnt, but worth a shot. Otherwise the dealer can unlock it.

Not much here. Tried to work on the vette a little today, but I had trouble getting under it with only my ramps. My buddy has a lift in the garage so I'm gonna try to go over there later when he gets off work. Trying to adjust the shifter cable.

Nice weather today, so I got the garage cleaned up a bit and went for a short cruise. Other than that it's about time to hit the weights.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Who's the funny looking guy with the glasses....jk. Looks like you did well for yourself - I approve. Next time you're back in the US be sure to bring me some real Labatt Blue. It was always better when I drank it over there. (I grew up in Detroit and we used to border jump all the time to drink in college)

Aqua -

I missed this thread first time around. I think you are seeing there are a lot of opinions on stereos here.... I have personally had several different brands, most higher end. I had eclipse, didn't care for it personally, but they are good quality. I have also had clarion which I liked, pioneer was my favorite. I would check circuit city, see if they have any open box deals. Sometimes you can get a good deal that way and they will install it if you don't feel inclined. You are on a budget, after all (aren't we all!).

Regarding aesthetics, the PO put a silver headunit in mine and it looks like ass. The only silver thing in the whole dashboard. It's not a very high end unit, either. I have to redo the entire thing because they butchered it putting it in, too. I'll get to that later.

Let us know what you decide.

I just ordered my new outer door seals from Corvette Recycling (a vendor on CF) They have NOS outer seals for a good price. There's a discount code, "DoorSeal", so they are $60 total.

LOL - sorry, didn't mean to piss on anyone's cornflakes, just a fan of truth, justice, and the American way....or something like that. If it makes you feel better I'll post some pictures of targets I've shot or something like that. I'm a redneck at heart....speaking of that....where's pappy?

BTW, the manager of a bank in Ghana just sent me the deal of a lifetime. He wants to give me 40% of 6,000,000 just to use my bank account at a temporary tax shelter - I'll go in half with you if you're interested.

Wait...you mean everything people send in an email isn't true??? Damn it. There goes the new C6 convertible.....

I get that feeling every once in a while. But you never know. Better safe than sorry. I'm gonna try to make it to the dragstrip this year and might try autocross to see if I like it.

Besides, even if you were just speeding, you don't want to be one of those jags who posts "I was going 110 in a 55 and that asshole cop wrote me a ticket" like over on CF every other day. I can't stand that.

Brut - thanks for the tips. I'm trying to learn as much as I can about C3s so I can help him out. I'm just gonna keep my eyes open and read up.

Kentucky - sounds like a good price. I think he wants to find something local so he can go look at it, ponder it, drive it, ponder it some more....if we can't find anything I'll give you a shout.

I have a friend who saw my vette last year and decided he wanted one. He likes the C3 bodystyle, so I told him I'd help look. He is not mechanical, so I'd be looking for a solid car that most of the work has been done on. He'd be driving it on weekends and would like to spend under $10,000. I suggested 78-82, as I've seen some pretty good deals out there and could probably find one reworked and in good shape for that price. I told him that some of the older (emissioned) vettes are not rockets, but he doesn't care, it's more about looks. What do you guys think?

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Well, today starts the weekend. Yeah for me.

Hope everyone has a good day. I plan on enjoying the vette this weekend!

Anything else new and exciting with anyone?

I have a friend at work who has been bit by the corvette bug after seeing mine last year. Spring is here and he's asked me to help him find a C3. I'm no C3 expert, but I'm always willing to learn more! Any good advice from anyone? Is there a good C3 guide like Bogus' C4 guide?

Hope everyone has a good day!

I've put in panels similar to that. It's not too bad of a job, a little more cutting involved if your walls are out of square. I still prefer tile in the shower, looks better to me. Post some pics when you are done.

Sounds like you are talking about the weatherstripping around the A-pillar...that's one piece that starts about where the door mirrors are and goes up the side of and all around the top of the windshield and to the other side. It's a long piece. The other pieces I think you are referring to are the targa top weatherstripping pieces, those run front to back on the top itself. Check them all for cracked and worn spots and make sure your window has a tight seal. Might be time to replace some weatherstripping.

Right now it's between $3.55-3.65 in the Chicago suburbs...go into the city itself and downtown it's another 30-40 cents a gallon

That's unfortunate. Was he living there for free as the article suggested? Was he insured for all of the belongings? Hopefully so.

Best wishes for him and his family.

A lot of the Polaks around here drink Sterling Vodka, at least at parties....I think it's Depends on the party, too. For birthdays, Xmas parties, any party for that matter, a bottle of booze is a perfect gift. I've gotten Skyy, Sterling, Grey Goose, Belvedere, Absolut, Smirnoff, a bunch of others. There are a lot of good brands out there. I'm not really good for recommending different ones, I usually stick to beer and the homemade stuff. I seem to remember Belvedere was good, though.

Back to work tonight for me. Went to the dentist today. Did a few errands. That's about it. At least the weather is nice.

Pat, if you want the good stuff, call me next time you're in town. I'll get you a homemade bottle of Polish Spirytus. That's where it's at. It isn't a Polak party w/o it.

Regarding LCD:
Haven't there been interference issues with the distributor? I thought I read about someone who had that. Might make sense if it only happens on high revs???

Space. She wants to keep the space of the rear hatch or I would to a single 10". So a compromise will have to be struck. It's like a lot of things... the 8's will provide a nice bass that isn't overpowering, but should still sound good. It's no different than not being able to run headers... you lose 20 hp, so?

I figured you were going to build the box into the rear cargo area under the floor with the sub pointed straight up. That way you wouldn't lose any "normal" space, just the tray storage area. Plus, with the rear glass design, the soundwaves will bounce and travel forward. Were you planning on building free standing boxes towards the rear?

On all the other levels, I didn't know you were an audiophile :thumbright: Three-ways shouldn't be a problem afterall. Just more work than I plan on putting into mine when I redo the stereo.
