The jack stands had been recommended on DC and I have seen them used on all the hot rod shows so I got them, they go up to 31" and are huge, very stable. I crawled under there today and I also have the tin running between the pipes, right in the way.

Ramrods got it right there. :thumbright: A completely new to forums and/or Vettes section in BOLD font so you can't miss it. I have never visited forums on the web before so it is all new to me. A safe place to ask questions about posting or vette newb questions that maybe shouldn't go in the tech area. Walk before you run.

I just bought four 12 ton jack stands and I am ready to lift it up and was wondering the best way myself. The price seems reasonable. Are there other alternatives I might use until it arrives? :me2:

Welcome. I have a 92 coupe and your 69 roadster is one of the favorites on my wish list. That is a sweet ride, can't beat a BBC. :thumbright: I look forward to some pics when you can.

My father is 60 and while growing up I heard about how he and his best friend were going to buy a 66 vert after graduating and drive across the US, never happened. I decided at 38 I had waited long enough so I found my 92 coupe and bought it. I invited my dad over to surprise him with my 'someday' Corvette. He was happy and said he would like to drive it a least once and I said sure. I have always respected and looked up to him and when I was at his house recently I gave him a set of keys and said its available whenever you get the urge to have some fun. LOL, you would have thought I just told my 14 yearold son the same thing. He had a grin from ear to ear and said 'you mean like for a whole day if I want?'. Man, that felt so good. I can't wait for summer!

Your pharmcist is right on. My mom used to give that to us when we were kids, called it a 'Hot Toddy'. I haven't had it in years because I don't keep whiskey in the house (don't like it much).

The hinge on my fuel door is broken. It's been that way since I bought it and since a new one is quite expensive I have been trying to score one on Ebay. I finally bought one tonight using the 'buy it now' option. Every one I've tried to bid on has been bought up at the last second. I've seen quite a few sell, is this a common problem?

I found out about this site from DC. I check over there regularly but I consider here home. I've never visited chat rooms before so this is all new to me. I just bought the 1992 FSM from Helm and that has plenty of info so until I get my hands dirty I don't have many questions. If most lurkers are like me then it will be just a matter of time to get confortable, open a beer and shoot the breeze. I have got quite a few odd questions about my 92 and I will post em. Ah, ice cold Sam Adams. Oh, I vote everyday.

I have not had any luck with Ebay. My left side hinge is broken on the fuel door and I have bid on three different auctions and lost in the last few seconds. The door is just fine and I don't want to spend $180+ for a new one just to get the hinges. They come around rather often so I hope I finally land one.

I'm in. I would not have any adverts on my car including the dealers but I would happily make an exception. Order up. :me2:

I really like the stock headlights on my 92, and for the money I could easily find a project to use it on to go faster. In the end it is your money and your car so if you want want it....go for it. :thumbright:

My wife and I use Taxslayer every year. Nominal fee to electronically file and have it direct deposited. Usually less than two weeks for the refund. After paying child support for 16 years I have learned to adjust the W4 so my return was only $50 or less and is still that way, used to really irritate my ex.

I've heard that the stands to go for are the 12 ton stands from harborfreight.com. They are currently $70 for a pair. I will be buying some very shortly and I would also be interested in anyones feedback on stability and price. I am rather paranoid about safety. I have used concrete blocks in the past but have read that was a very bad idea. Learning something new everyday.

You are right about the driver friendly part. It only had two seats, rode rather hard, and was not easy to get in and out of. Oh! Sound like the vette. LOL. It had 5.38 gears, tube chassis from the firewall back with full roll cage, and ran on the bottle. Fun car but not a Corvette. I've seen the prices for the old muscle and I'm sure you turned a profit. As for modern Corvette, I was looking for a C3, 80-82. I test drove them and enjoyed it but when I got behind the wheel of the 92, it was magic. You can't beat that huge hood flipped open to draw spectators. BTW, is there a graceful way of getting out of the vette?

As for pictures, I'm working on getting pictures of the goat scanned and I'll post them. I have current pictures of the vette but they need to be resized smaller and I'm not sure how to do that. Any suggestions?

This is an excellent thread. I have painted dozens of cars using pearls, candies, and metallics. My first car was my mothers which was...light silver which came out ok and I have gone from there. I haven't painted a car since the late 80's and the info on the HPLV is great. I am hoping to paint my vette next year and will be doing some practice jobs on my other vehicles. I had a buddy who wanted me to spray his Nova with a medium blue metallic, he said he would do all prep work and all I had to do was lay on the color. The greatest painter using the most expensive paint will not make a lick of difference unless the prep work is good. His was not good and I told him to work some more and he said it's ready, just paint it. Wow, how many coats would it take to fill 100 grit scratches. Genius is in the detail, you can do it.

Well, it has the beige interior, auto (not easy to find a six speed), stock everything right now. According to the RPO codes it is supposed to have a solid top but mine has a clear blue one. My wife is not too excited about it but my two boys are. I got rid of the goat before my oldest was born so this is deep in the cool zone for them, me too.

Hi everyone. I just bought a 1992 White LT1 a week before Thanksgiving, drove it for a week and put it up (Michigan winters ya know). This car is fantastic to drive and full of surprises. I was looking for a C3 and happened upon this one and fell in love. I've been looking around here for a short while and really like the people, their sense of humor, and knowledge. I used to run a pro street 69 GTO and the electronics on the vette is a little intimidating. It's time to dust off the tools, grab a manual, and get to work. Yeah!
