Shopping for a new car now. 1990-2001 SOHC Saturn's get nearly 40mpg hi-way with the 5 speed. Built in the USA! :thumbright:

Not the most exciting thing to drive, but thats what the vettes for on the weekends.

Just paid $45 to fill up my 4-cylinder Grand-Am. It gets 24 in town, 32 hi-way. At 20,000 plus miles a year I need better. (Or more money)

In high school, 20 bucks would fill my truck and buy a road trips worth of snacks...

I am installing a mini ram. I will be removing the EGR since the new manifold has no provision for it. At a later date I will be installing headers and will be removing the air system. Have any of you gutted the air pump before? What is involved? Of course I know I could go with the eliminator.

The TB I have uses filtered air from in front on the throttle plates for the IAC. The IAC opens/closes a path from there to behind the throttle plates (into the plenum).

I kind of confused things asking about the other ports in the plenum at the same time. I'm pretty sure I won't need them. I have no EGR and PCV can be directly ported to the plenum.

The Dow ind. rose 189.20 points to 12570.22, helped by S & P's affirmation of bond firms.

Wheat surged $4.75 to $24.00 a bushel as supply concerns sparked a rally on the exchange.

"Nearly half of adults in the US have switched from the faith in which they were raised or have dropped any religious affiliation". from the Wall Street Journal.

Some companies are holding off on destroying recalled beef, hoping it can be donated or returned to stores....also from the Wall Street Journal.

Have a great day.

I saw a bad ass Fiero a few years back...

Resized Image

It's called the IMSA Fiero. It's cool. It was white and yellow... the body kit was the same as in this photo, but this one was most certianly set up for racing. the one I saw was a pure street car with, I assume, a TPI of some sort - there was a TPI logo on the fender.

It had a wide body, deep rims... real nice...

The Northstar conversion is brilliant... 300hp DOHC V8, a fairly good A4, in a drive package that fits where the V6 did without adding a lot of weight.

That's

A friend of mine has 2 Fiero's just sitting around gathering dust and leaves....maybe I'll....nah......too many toys now.....

Shadow,
Did you ever move a thread on Corvette Florida where the members couldn't see it?

Shadow,

Have you ever moved a thread out of the reach of the public on your Corvette Florida?

Last edited by DropTopCE on 2008-02-25, 18:32:02; edited 1 time in total

Sorry DT, didn't see your first question, and to answer it, yes, I have

...and if it's the one I think you're talking about;) ...I put it back;)

...and I sent a PM to the person that caused the short lived removal, and , there was no editing It went back on the public forum "as is."

Fortunately, due to the nature of our CorvetteFlorida.com forum there's not a lot of adversity We're a pretty close knit bunch who actually hang out at shows and such together. As a matter of fact, there was a group of our guys and gals that did well at the Punta Gorda show on saturday

Even then, as with any "family", you're going to occasionally have dissention It's just a fact of life.

We dont' do a lot of bannings, we DON"T EDIT, and seldom remove or lock a thread other than SPAM or PORN.

There have been a few, but mostly stuff that I wouild expect other mods to lock or delete as well....things that have gotten out of hand, or become personally threatening. We had some kid come on right after the site got started, took a little flak for something he said, and started threatening our members

Say bye bye Even his dumb arse got a PM from me. I started to call his daddy as well (yes, he was a punk kid) and let him know what his motormouth kid was up to but decided it wasn't worth the time and effort.

I'm not saying that a thread shouldn't be locked, deleted or moved. I'm saying it shouldn't be EDITED and if so, with rareity, and that people deserve a reason for some things. Not a "justification" (if you are a mod/admin, it's ultimately your decision), but a notification that it's been done and a warning if appropriate

Ramrods got it right there. :thumbright: A completely new to forums and/or Vettes section in BOLD font so you can't miss it. I have never visited forums on the web before so it is all new to me. A safe place to ask questions about posting or vette newb questions that maybe shouldn't go in the tech area. Walk before you run.

this is tragic...

Why can't people understand there are more thing than the last 30hp? There are budgets to consider.

Not everyone DESIRES that last 30hp, either. It's one of the thing that I railed against in regards to gutting catalytic converters.

You can get Edelbrock heads for the price of one AFR... and guess what? Your car is back on the road that much faster.... At the cost of what? 30? 40hp? Wow.

Clean the entire pan with simple green and rinse with a hose.

The inside needs to be lightly oiled so it won't surface rust... it just looks ugly, too.

The outside, clean with laquer thinner and then paint. Use high-temp engine paint from a rattle can. Works surprisingly well. I would warm the paint and the pan... if you can put the pan into a slow oven, say, 100F, that will help a lot... the paint can be rested in a bowl of hot water before use.

It fits between the exhaust pipes so that the pumpkin sits right on the rubber pad that is glued to the top of the device. It works like a charm.

I remember a gas war when it got as low as 19.9 cents a gallon - the going rate was about 25.9 at the time. We could pool our change and drive my '62 Chevy with the 6-banger all night long. And that was manly gas, not this wimpy oxygenated lead-free stuff - LOL! So the thought of 50 cents seemed ludicrous when the oil embargo hit. And yeah, they sure were sneaky about phasing out any "service" at the service station. They used to check your oil, wash the windows, empty the ashtray, and check the tires if they looked low. *sigh*

What ever you do, don't lube the shafts up with WD40 like I did years ago on an 86 I owned. I thought it would make the hatch go up and down much smoother. The only thing it did was to make them totally collapse. Too slippery.

The cheapest I remember as a kid was 24¢ a gallon. Also, even after it went up, I rember the gas attendants would pump an extra 8-10¢ in it and not charge you for it.
