PM's can't be read by moderators, but they can by Administrators. I know this since one of mine was intercepted by savewave.

I have never been able to read anyone's PM's over there.

I know they will be monitoring my PM's so I won't be PMing anyone over there.

People I haven't seen post in a long time would be:

I read something recently and I just wanted to point out what I think is a REAL mod....

1. A real mod requires GOJO when your done
2. A real mod will have any of the following criteria:
a. the car will SOUND different
b. The car will be faster
c. the car will handle differently
3. Just because it's shiny does not make it a mod.
4. Stand alone simple cosmetic changes that do not require tools are not mods. Peel and stick labels do not constitute mods either on the dash on the windows, or on the bumper or intake claws.

Hence, I submit for the forum's consideration, those definitions.

Well, I don't think you're going to like this but according to the C4 parts microfiche, it doesn't have a number as it's considered a part of the spring assembly along with the upper and lower retainers. From the illustration, it's called a spring cushion. There are actually two different springs, the FE7 (BMH code) #14045786 and non FE7 (BMF) #14045785, both discontinued. As for a source for those parts, I couldn't tell you. Sorry...

I guess I was not clear in my grease post. The brush armature area is where I cleaned the grease ou. I left grease on the gears and other moving parts but not the brushes and armature.

this works regardless of where the fill is. You see, the surge tank is the fill of the rad, really doesn't matter if it's attached or remote.

In the "old days" the expansion tank was just that, expansion. It wasn't a fill.

That wasn't a fill, the cap was directly on radiator, so it was simple.

In this system it appears this tank serves two purposes, as both the fill and the expansion tank. HOWEVER, there is a second tank down in the front fender too. THAT must be the expansion tank.

So would YOU take the tstat off and fill there?

There is no way they are reading everyone's PM's.
That's like saying the Post Office is reading everyone's mail.

Sure, the ability is there. But nobody has that kind of time. There is just too much volume.

Of course now that I have said that, the ones spying from over here will be sure to monitor any that I send.

I'm really not sure if it's appropriate or even advisable to compile some sort of list. However there are quite a few guys from over there that I'd love to see over here. I'm not talking about picking them off, just letting them know somehow that there is an alternative. I'll bet a lot of them have no idea that this place exists and are wondering where all the old faces went. Just a thought...

Hi everyone. I just bought a 1992 White LT1 a week before Thanksgiving, drove it for a week and put it up (Michigan winters ya know). This car is fantastic to drive and full of surprises. I was looking for a C3 and happened upon this one and fell in love. I've been looking around here for a short while and really like the people, their sense of humor, and knowledge. I used to run a pro street 69 GTO and the electronics on the vette is a little intimidating. It's time to dust off the tools, grab a manual, and get to work. Yeah!

I have to view the stars and bars with a couple of concerns:

1. I am fully aware of the high minded belief in states rights.

2. But the racism that existed under that flag is reprehensable.

Dale, you make a very good point.
I fall in that same "limited abilities" you speak of. I know a little bit about these cars, but not in the same way as some of these "wrenches" over here.

I think we all have a little something to contribute. I will always try my best to answer any question no matter how trivial it may be. I think that is where some of the diversity will come in.

So, any new guys out there "lurking" don't be afraid to come in and ask. That's how the site will grow new members. :thumbleft:

BTW, I should mention, the car is COMPLETELY empty as I had the heads off and the intake off, and the oil cooler lines off, and the radiator out. There's not a drop of AF in the system, perhaps only in the heater core and a little in the lines going to it.

For some reason, I never started smoking (however at one time or another, I did just about everything else). I've known many people who were in recovery from alcohol abuse or drug addiction and believe it or not, almost everyone of them said giving up smoking was just as hard or harder.

My hat's off to you. Good going...

I took this note from somebody at that other forum - I can't speak from practical experience, though:

If you have a second person, you can hold revs at 3k while filling, when totally full replace cap, then let off throttle. DO NOT let off the throttle while cap is off, messy, and dangerous.

I know the original idea behind the product is to connect a LT1 computer to a L98 engine. But if this distributor can send the proper signals to an LT1 computer there should not be any reason why it couldn't work in an LT1 engine provided the LT1 is modified to accept a conventional type distributor.

I think going to a conventional type distributor that can also supply the optispark's signals would have several advantages.

I wonder if Edelbrock would produce an optional LT1/LT4 intake with a conventional distributor mounting hole?

I've never liked the optispark location, and this sounds like the most plausible solution so far to both move it and improve it.

I used the generic version of Zyban, and I am a firm believer in it. :thumbleft:

You take the drug for at least 7 days before you actually stop smoking. After about 5 days I really never even thought much about smoking. I was on that prescription for 4 months.

I have to admit, that I think quiting in the middle of winter helped a great deal. I never smoked in the house and would go outside. Well, in the winter your not out as much anyway.

It was the first week of June when I realized that I had this habit kicked. Heading to Kalamazoo, MI during the first leg of the Hot Rod Power Tour in the pouring down rain, I had a flat tire. By the time I got the spare on, I was soaking wet. I got the car to the closest service station, and they fixed the flat and got me back on the road in about 30 minutes.

After all that, if I would have had a pack of cigarettes with me I think I would have smoked the whole pack. That's when I knew I had made it.

This is a very addictive habit, and you really have to want to quit bad in order to make it. You smokers all know that. That time had come for me.

For all those thinking about quiting, it's tough but you can do it if you really want too. :thumbleft:

Dale, I started this thread to have some fun, I apologize to you, I never meant to intimidate anyone. If my limited abilities allow me I will jump right in and try to answer a question. The point I was making is this, right now there is someone "over there" who is asking what size heater hose on his car. I mean, really a tape measure is not that hard to use. That is the type of question we were making fun of.

I must be coming across like a whiner? Not my intent. I don't feel threatened or offended. I'm just making an observation. We all know the talent from that other place has migrated here. I still go to the other place. I see the stuff being posted there, pretty weak stuff, (being kind).

All I'm trying to say is, if I'm a lurker, and checking things out here, I may get intimidated and move along. The way for a site to grow is hits and users. Chasing off anything but troublemakers isn't a good plan, I don't think.

Once again... I'm cool with this, I do see the humor, I'm just trying to point out what an "observer" may see. And again, if I come across as a whiner, or the post police, sorry, not my intention.

Radiator filling question...

This is the first car I'm putting together that has the radiator cap on an external reservoir instead of right on the radiator.

So question...

Besides drilling a hole in the Tstat, which I'm not going to do, is there any tricks to filling these things, or just pour antifreeze directly into the remote reservoir?

Any other tricks that aren't in the FSM?

How does the anti freeze travel from the reservoir to the rest of the system?

Thanks

The wife and I watched the show every night. I don't think I would have if it hadn't been for that guy. He is incredible and a very down to earth kind of guy. At least that is how he seemed on the show.

I hope things get better for you Case. I went up to Lexington, KY Friday. Felt a bit down. My brother-in-law called me when I was halfway up the highway and said the appointment had cancelled. I told him I was coming up anyway, had to get out of the office. I had no intention of staying the night. Just wanted to cruise up and back in the vette.

Anyway, my cousin met us for lunch and a couple of drinks. He starts working on me to stay the night so we drive up to Indiana to a casino and visit.

Called the wife and said I would be home the next day. Didn't have a change of clothes. Just went to Walmart and boughts some jeans and necessary stuff. Picked up my cousin and off we went. We had the best conversation about his and my problems. We both lost about $700. But it was worth every $ I lost to be able to talk with someone. I feel better now than I have for a while.

My cuz and I have decided we will go spend 1 day a month somewhere just so we can visit and shoot the shit. WE have always been like brothers.

So Case, find you a good mate you can sit down with and just visit. Vent a little, laugh a little and have a couple of drinks. DON"T get drunk!! I had 2 drinks and a beer the whole night and didn't go to be until 4:00am.

Good luck and even though you don't know me like you do the others on the forum, hell we are all friends and there to help.

Keith

Currently looking for a winter ride/tow vehicle myself.

Almost bought a Range Rover, but the forum taked me out of it.

Love to get a diesel, but they really hold on to thier value.

Congrats! I'm still smoking like a dumbass, as it's one of the few things I'm good at.

Are you talking about smoking or being a dumbass?

I'll choose the latter for myself considering I am on my 2nd time around of chantex and still haven't quit.

Never can figure out why someone would build something they would never drive. Kind of like paying for a hooker so you can chat about the stock market.
