there is a relay... I will have to check where it hides, but that controls the speakers turning on.

with no sound, I would bet the relay has died.

i bought my 86 new and it only has 10,000 miles on it so i want to keep it original so i'm not going to be installing a new system. with that being said, i have no sound out of the speakers, it is a Bose system. this happened once before for about a year then all the sudden it started to work again. now i'm back in the no sound grove again. the radio seems to be working correctly just no sound. it's not like one speaker at a time went out it just a stopped playing tunes all at once. i'd like to remove the radio to see if i have a loose connection at the rear of the radio and just to investigate the situation to see if i have to send the radio out to Don's. can someone guide me as to taking the front bezel off to access the radio. it looks pretty straight forward however i'm not looking to break anything. any advice will be appreciated.
thanks
Joe

you'll hear from me...

yes, I am taking this over.

Things have been very busy in our lives right now. We have been planning and executing our two separate wedding receptions on two separate coasts!

We are already checking out software... and conversion will be important. I want to save as much of this as is possible.

And a new ISP is #2. The software sucks, the ISP swallows.

Now... lets see if this saves....

Your are correct on the shout box. Part of the "slowness" problem is this software...it really hurts bandwidth with stuff like that. Basically, this software will have to be trashed, and rebuilt without losing any of the info.

I have so much going on in my life right now that I can't devote enough time to it, so I have decided to sell the site to one of the originators of C4guru. He hopefully will get everything back on track.

BUt, if I don't hear from him soon....I guess I will be back on my own. LOL

No problem. The best handling street tire I've had on my car was the Kumho MX. I found it to be as good, and even more predictable, than the Goodyear F1 Supercar which is another great tire I've tried. And they're much less expensive too, needless to say. The Kumho doesn't have a high wear number, but for your purposes, it'll likely harden with age before you can wear it out. And although rated as a dry and warm weather tire, as long as the tread is still pretty good, it won't be scary should you ever be caught in the rain.

Me included. That's why I don't understand it. The site is fairly well known over on another (and large) forum that I'm sure we're all familiar with.
That shout box is a waste of band-width IMO. What's the point of that? It's more bother to read than it's worth, so I don't fool with it.

I have a 90 coupe 77k. Just dropped $2800 to replace head gaskets and assorted other work. It now runs great but tires are the next issue.
I am a weekend driver and put 3000 mile a year on the car. Don't drive in the rain if I can avoid it.
Handling, ride comfort and noise level are my main thing. And, ofcourse price. Also the car tends to sit in the garage more then it's driven. How do I avoid flat spots on the tires??

I'm not going to suggest any tires simply because tire noise is something that I just don't pay attention to. I've had quite a few different kinds of tires on mine and I could tell you a lot of things about any of them, but noise isn't one of them.
They do make some things that you can park on that are supposed to prevent tire flat-spotting in cars that sit. Once again, never been a concern for me. Mine is driven constantly.

Honestly, we are in limbo. There will be new owners very soon and they will take over and get it to a faster server so the wait time (which I believe is one reason some members do not return) is lower.

The site is not dead., nor are there plans to let it die. It is tough competeing with some of the "bigger" sites, but we are still hanging in there.

Good question. It's hard to offer an opinion by brand only. Also knowing the OPs specific needs and purposes would be required to offer any advice of significance.

Your 93 has 2 O2 sensors. One for each manifold, right in front of the cats.

Have you changed plug wires in a while. Inspect them for burn marks.

Yes, an opti could only screw up one side but that is unlikely.

It has been awhile since I posted an update. I appreciate everyone who provided advice. Here is the latest.

It still (My 93 LT1) starts up fine. Runs rough, Sputters a little when cold and then when it warms up it gets rougher. Occasionally it will backfire. Not bad but noticeable. The backfire appears to be only on the right bank. I changed spark plugs (Cheap Bosh ones) and replaced the O2 sensor (Bosh). It does not throw any codes.

Had some experienced mechs at my place of business check out the fuel injectors and they were fine. The mechs seem to think based on the rough idle and a smell of fuel that it was the Opti going bad. My question is this...Would an Opti going bad only affect the right side?

I don't have a book on early LT1s but knowing that your engine's is of a batchfire design, "quad drivers" sounds like it is a code having to do with that, since batchfire systems fire one bank at a time. "Drivers" is a term associated with the ECM, as in "injector drivers." You definitely need access to a factory service manual.

Napa should have it. I use the Amsoil PI injector cleaner with excellent results. Every time I dissassemble an engine, I run some PI through the system first . Valves and ports are usually cleaned up nicely.

My 91 has developed a misfire and I believe it is fuel related. I've replaced the Cap, rotor, plugs and megg'd the wires. The injectors were replaced in 2001 with factory new ones but the car mainly sat. What is the name of and where might I get the fuel injection cleaner that connects to the fuel rail and you pull the fuel pump fuse, run the car until it quits and the injectors are clean?

Free State Corvette Club's 21st annual charity fundraiser Corvette Weekend will be held the weekend of October 12-14 this year. We expect to have over 800 Corvettes registered for this event, with Fun Shows, Rallyes, Parties, and everybody's favorite: The Boardwalk Parade of Corvettes. Last year we put 627 Corvettes down the full length of the boardwalk in what was our largest parade ever. This year we're sure it'll be bigger still. Come on out and play with us!

This is a non-profit event -- all proceeds go to our very worthy charities, and we thank you so very much for your support and participation. Details: www.freestatecorvette.com

See y'all there!

Be well,

SJW

No I havent checked fuel pressure. Gonna change fuel filter sunday evening after work or monday morning. This was just brought up by a friend the other day that that could cause these problems. As far as tune up. Myself havent dont anything major like plugs and wires since i've had it. Know the car was taken care of by the previous owner. Gave me reciepts and things where he had the car maintained.

code 26 is a quad driver. that's a really nebulous code, IIRC.

what is the maintenance history like? recent tune ups? fuel filter?

have you tested the fuel pressure?

Greetings,
I have a 1985 corvette that lost its spark. It died over a year ago and I can not figure out why I can not get a spark. I have tested or replacement almost every component of the distributor yet I do not get any spark out of the plugs. I've done almost every check out of the service manual. Any suggestions?

John

ignition coil has been replaced
and the module has been replaced
everything as been replaced.

it is so hard to figure out. Everything on that distributor has been replaced. double checked... is there anything else that could cause that?

yes it is definitely spinning also the pickup coil was replaced even though it tested good. Module was replaced but that had tested bad... it failed at advance auto. computer terminal board and leads tested good (4 wire ecm cable passed continuity test). Ground seems to test okay.
