I'd like to have a DNBFS day/weekend, but I landed in the middle of a 40-page book layout for my old employer, the local paper here. They're putting out a 'concierge book' that will be in all the hotel rooms, and of course they wait until the last damned minute to give me EVERYTHING. I have to build the ads, do the book layout, covers, etc. And, they wanted this to the printer by the 6th...I don't see that happening. They forget I have a day job and on those days I will only work about an hour in the evening. I don't like having to kill myself to get these things done when they've had two months to be getting me stuff. Also have some cop motorcycle group logos and tshirts to design and a photo enhancement job for a friend of mine. Anybody want to come wash the vette, fix my blinker light and my headlight and clean the house while I do all this other crap?

Got hot yesterday, then dark and rained a monsoon, then the sun came out and it was very nice, then cold last night and I ran the heater, now hot as hell here today. I hate this mess.
Bored at work, need to go to the gym, and need to get going on a book I'm working on at home for a client. I'd much rather be on the beach....'have a good one all...

They make wireless headsets you can use, Tommy.. better yet, hand her a beer, point her to the easy chair OUTSIDE to talk on the phone....
I was bored today at work, got a little carnation bouquet from the radio station people for my bday, and bought myself a pink donut with sprinkles and bout the time I decided to eat it, I got busy and ended up tossing it. My ass didn't need it anyway.. Came home, did some freelance work and gonna call it an early night. Didn't sleep too well last night. Great news on your knee progress teebee....

I have trouble making up my mind, lots of beautiful cars in here but I think I like the Durango Boy's car...
And, thanks for the compliment on mine - I like the painted console trim, hinged rollbar and all the other stuff, but I have more fun with that cam (Now if we have a 'before and after' pic mine'll shock ya!)

For once I slept great. Just not enough of it. Didn't want to come back to work today, the drive yesterday wore me out, and I'm caught up here at work so it will be a long day today. I hope the boss decides to take off and stay home, he brings stress in the door with him and I'm not up for it today. I'd like to go back home and sleep some more...

I hope everyone had a wonderful day, I am pooped. Just got home from the drive back up from Pensacola. Gonna have a Corona and relax a bit. Thougth I might sit outside but it's 100 here today. Thought I'd wash the bugs off the car too when I got home... NOPE, ain't gonna happen.

Have some more that I did take after detailing it when I did get it at the lake near the house back in September. One of those is the one I'm using in my avatar, if you look close you can see that red bar under there. I tried to upload pics but it just keeps 'processing' and won't upload .... Have a nice one or two taken this past Halloween with beautiful fall colors in the trees too

Any one of yous around Pensacola or know of any Vette things or car shows around here? I can't find anything but Leo's Corvette and that wasn't what I expected. Thinking about going back to bed, plan to go to beach later and shop a little, sun a little, have a couple cold ones and come back to the house, maybe wash the car...

and am I the only one with my mind in the gutter or what? Look a that ad with the kid holding that in front of the grown up man. I was emailed another ad from that time era the other day that was supposed to be telling folks that sugar is not really bad for them or fattening and shows a woman licking an ice cream cone head. Hmmmm. a LOT of those old ads got away with stuff like that. Well I hope everyone has a great holiday weekend, I ran off and am in Milton. FL, near Pensacola. Anyone near here? Is there any vette places here that I can go prowl around at? I drove in daytime this time and man stuff sure looks different. I'll be going home in the daytime Monday also and made notes of a couple of things I wanted to stop and see. Was too sleepy coming in to mess with stuff. Worked my arm into that tiny hole around my headlight on the C5 also to change the blinker light up there and it was simply loose all this time. Figures. Anyone need two new bulbs? Ugh... more shit for my storage bin...

The town I'm from used to have an old "Western Auto" store that had everything - way better than Sears. But he died, no more store. My mother bought us each one of those Craftsman look alike lawn mowers (Murray) from Wal Mart of all places and mine lasted over 12 years. I finally had to ditch it last year for a new one. I bought a Craftsman 6.7HP mulcher/mower for under $200. The same price would only get me a 4hp basic mower in the other brands Sears carries. So far, so good. My TV however is another story. Got a HAIER, wont' do that again. It was like 40% off, couldn't say no as I was wanting a 42" anyway. About a year later I had to replace all the boards in the thing $500, it was just out of warranty. Hpoed they'd give me a little slack since I found out it was a common problem. Neither Sears nor Haier offered any help. Plus, no local parts, no local person to deal with, all I could find was a German website. Four months went by before I got it fixed. Ended up spending $400 on a smaller 26" Olevia and it's been perfect. Even better quality. Craftsman tools are fine too, but no more than I use them for stuff around the house or for tiny things on the car like plug and wire changing, etc., generic tools have done just fine for me. Matter of fact up until I got a new one for my birthday last year, I was using a cordless 18v drill I got from Fred's of all places, I paid $17 for it. The drill still worked fine, it's the battery that played out after three years.

I hit the grocery store at about 10 last night. I didn't know until just recently that our Kroger was open all night long. Of course the close down the fish and seafood counter. We have a new store that I plan to try out. The one that's three blocks from my house is way too expensive same as the gas station at the end of the road. Figures, I live in the hood where most people are black, mexican, white trash and unemployed and where they have to get food and fuel costs much more than across town.
Up too early but figured since I was awake I'd get up and go to the gym.

Up way too early, nice day here though, need to go to the tax office... also need to go the gym but ducked out early yesterday - big wave of tired hit me 2/3 through. Not felt good since... And, Upon reading the cereal box this morning, I notice that a 'serving' is LESS THAN A CUP of cereal with 1/2 cup milk. Yeah. Like THAT'S gonna get anyone through an entire morning. Whoever wrote that must be a celery stick... MOST people eat their cereal in one of the bowls that came with their dishes, a normal average sized bowl. I guess that's 40 servings? And how will 1/2 cup milk even keep the cereal from choking you?

The son of a coworker of mine was killed a bit back by a man who was texting and driving. It resulted in the creation here of "Paul's Law" - I worked with his mother for 16 years.
that pic scares the poop out of me too, I text and drive some, not like I used to and still working to get out of the habit - it only takes a second to make a deadly mistake.

Same applies to the cost of diesel at the pump.. Not sure about where you guys are, but here it's HIGHER than regular gasonline... why???? Used to be much lower - thus the incentive to use diesel powered engines. You tell me there ain't money grubbers in that industry... preying on those who are trying to be 'green'....

If this statement is true:
I read around and Valvoline claims the refining process is easier using used oil vs crude and you end up with the same quality standard. then why does it cost more? I'd be all over recycled products and being 'more green' if they'd make it like it should be. If it takes less effort/cost to recycle something then it should be therefore cheaper to purchase.

Well, I no longer have a mother, nor am I a mother, so I'm waiting on Father's Day when the cool shit is on sale....
I did, however get a 'happy mother's day' wish from the Wal Mart check out lady, then a friend's wife offered the wish, then my aunt wished me 'happy future mother's day'.. (I'm wondering what she knows that I don't), and then an older man friend brought me a mother's day for grandma card, a scratch off losing lotto ticket and a candy bar... (inside joke, I was visiting at his shop one day and someone came in thinking I was his granddaughter, he said "no - she's m grandmother...") Anyway, just a lazy day here, a Friend is up from Florida and we drove around the old home town visiting old friends and such and then I cooked some steelhead trout, crab cakes and veggies.... candy bar for dessert.

We might get the grill out later..

Wow, thanks for the information.
I have some out of state company this weekend but do plan to still look further into this. I have been told that the C5 will run hotter than the C4 and it's normal. Still bugs me. After changing the thermostat, I let the car idle for quite some time, the temp never got over 198. While driving, it runs 205-414 or so. Letting it sit, stop and go and all that the other day at 95 degrees outside it hit around 237. Later I drove around the train switch yard here and looked for a graffiti one to take a photo of and inbetweeen the trains and in the gravel, it hit 250, I drove home. But, the other day at 255 the lights on the dash came on and said 'coolant over temp'. Changing the thermostat has seemed to help some.

That sucker never got over 195. Figured if an oil cooler cools the oil, then it should keep the engine cooler thereby keeping my coolant cooler??? Obviously I know nothing about this stuff...

I do not make much but what savings I had took a tank with the economy. An already small 401k dropped by more than half. Once it came back, I moved it, then when mom passed, wasn't much savings there either but had her bills plus mine to cover for a year while house was on the market, once house sold, I added that to the small pile. After losing three family members at one time, then the live in leaving at the same time as well as my job disappearing - I figured life is too damned short to hold on to what little I had that might not be there depending what president we have ruins the economy further. I moved some into an IRA, then paid off some things with some of it, bought the truck and the '02 Vette. I figure as long as my job pays my bills and I have a little bit of savings, by damned I will enjoy what I can of what I have - afterall - what damned good is a Vette if you can't drive the damned thing when you're 90? I have always wanted a convertible, now I have one and yes, I enjoy it all I can. That's what life is about. I work 3 days a week at my day job, and I freelance at home for extra cash. As long as I have everything I need and some of the things I want - I'm fine. I'll never be rich so what the hell?

Beautiful day here today also - can't wait for the next two hours - then I'm off till Tuesday
No real plans this weekend, but if I had an extra couple hundred dollars or three I'd drive down to Pensacola. Chagned the plugs and wires and thermostat on the Vette this past weekend, that seems to have helped a lot. But - this one runs hotter than the '96, any ideas to help keep it cool while idling? A friend has offered to send me an oil cooler that he's not gonna use - will that do it?

Those are some beautiful landscape photos... I would like to do that here at my place.
Gonna be hot here today (record for our area they said), the 'super moon' last night really wasn't all that 'super' from here. Looked more like a normal full moon. But, it was pretty and at least nice outside. My arms and crap are sore and bruised from the car yesterday, planned to clean the air filter and dust off the rest of the car today and take it out for a bit. Have a good Sunday...

Y'all are making me feel old with all that talk of incomes in years past. I remember my mamma working for Singer Co. down the street when I was a kid, she made $1.25 an hour.
I'd also like to have one car back if I could - when I was married the first time, he got a 61 Impala SS, black "batman" car. One of those "kid got it, drove it once, went off to the war, came home in a box story". I wanted a fix up car so his dad found me a 67 Firebird with a 400. I never got to work on it, we split, I had nowhere to keep it and he was hooked on dope and his mom and them needed money. I let them have it to sell to help them out. His fully restored Impala ended up back with the original family. Speaking of cars and working on them - whoever it was that told me that replacing plugs and wires on a C5 is easier than it is for a C4 is flat out full of shit. That crap took up a large part of my late afternoon/evening, along with the thermostat which was very easy. And, as frustrated as I was, imagine my frustration what the ticking noise I was hearing was when I started it, only to discover #5 didn't have it's plug wire on at all, it was laying on the ledge beside the car... ugh.....

good evenin... hot and sunny here all day then just as I was leaving the gym a huge cloud followed me home with high winds, cool air and sprinkles. Now it appears the sun's coming back out. It's Arkansas, if you don't like the weather hang around a bit, it'll change. Speaking of - the lady that threw her ticket away should get HER money from that machine company that told her it was a no good ticket. The other? Finder's keepers... it was in the trash...
But on an upper note for the day - had to get some asthma relief meds at Walgreens and for those if you are under 40 they card you. They carded me. I was thrilled. Now I know I"m getting old... kinda felt like 21 again there for a minute..
