CORVETTE RACING AT DAYTONA: Wrapping Up The Roar
Magnussen, No. 3 Corvette draft way to weekend’s quickest GTLM time

·       Team completes more than 1,200 miles of testing ahead of Rolex 24
·       21st season on tap for Corvette Racing
·       Goal is fourth victory on high banks of Daytona
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.(Jan. 6, 2019) – Corvette Racing completed its final test ahead of the 2019 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship with three days of testing at Daytona International Speedway, site of the season-opening Rolex 24 At Daytona.
Sunday marked the third and final day of running at the annual Roar Before the 24 around the 3.56-mile Daytona road course. Corvette Racing’s pair of Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C7.Rs completed 341 laps and more than 1,200 miles from Friday through Sunday.
The highlight of the weekend was Jan Magnussen’s fastest GT Le Mans (GTLM) lap during qualifying for garage and pit positions for the Rolex 24. With drafting help from teammate Oliver Gavin, Magnussen posted a lap of 1:42.651 (124.844 mph) in the No. 3 Corvette.
As they did a year ago during time trials for the Roar and Rolex 24, the two yellow C7.Rs worked in tandem to take full advantage of the tow that cars generate on the super-speedway portion of Daytona. Magnussen, driving with Antonio Garcia and Mike Rockenfeller, used that to his advantage to take the GTLM pole in last year’s Rolex 24 qualifying.
Gavin, who will team with Tommy Milner and Marcel Fässler, set the No. 4 Corvette’s best lap during the qualifying session at 1:43.193 (124.188 mph). It was more indicative of the single-car pace of the Corvette around Daytona.
Apart from qualifying, Corvette Racing spent Friday through Sunday working through a variety of setup and Michelin tire options for the Rolex 24. Practice time will be limited during the week of the race, which heightens the importance of data-gathering for Corvette Racing engineers.
The best-possible result in the Rolex 24 will springboard Corvette Racing’s challenge for a fourth consecutive GTLM Driver’s Championship and 13th IMSA Manufacturer’s Championship in the class.
Corvette Racing will be back at Daytona International Speedway for the 57tth Rolex 24 At Daytona on January 24-27.
JAN MAGNUSSEN, NO. 3 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R – QUICKEST IN GTLM QUALIFYING

HOW WOULD YOU GAUGE HOW THE WEEKEND HAS GONE?“We didn’t have a lot of new stuff to try out this year. We have a new tire from Michelin that we needed to get our heads around; we had some experience with it beforehand but here is where it matters. We did a good job developing the setup of our Corvette to suit the tire.”

TALK ABOUT THE LAP IN QUALIFYING.“We did exactly the same as we did last year where we agreed who was going to tow who. It was me again like in race qualifying last year. That gave us a good top-speed advantage in that session. Olly (Gavin) did a fantastic job placing himself at the right distance out of Turn Six so I could take full advantage of the tow down to the Bus Stop and then go by him at start/finish to get the fastest lap. We did the exact same thing at the Roar and the race last year, so I don’t really know why everyone else is doing the exact same thing. But it seems we’re the only one doing it at the moment, and it’s working out really well for us.”

WHAT DOES THIS DO FOR YOUR CONFIDENCE GOING INTO THE ROLEX 24?“The time today was a little artificial because of the towing we did, but we did want to try and win the session. We had one car at the front and one at the back. The difference between our cars is the difference the tow makes. We have some work to do in order to be competitive over the full race. I’m confident the guys at Corvette Racing and Michelin will give us the best chance to win the race.”

WHAT ARE YOUR CHANCES OF GOING FOR FOUR DRIVER CHAMPIONSHIPS IN A ROW FOR CORVETTE RACING?“What did for us last year was that we do work as a team. All the drivers here are to make Corvette Racing win races. That means we do work together. Very often the focus is put on one car. It’s not always the same car. If we work as a team like we did last year, then I’m sure we’ll have a great shot at getting another championship for Corvette Racing.”

WHAT CAN YOU DO BETWEEN NOW THE RACE TO MAKE SURE THE CAR IS AS FAST OR FASTER THAN TODAY?“We’ll do another session in the Chevrolet simulator, and I believe we’ll work through the program we ran here to make sure everything we do in the simulator is relevant. There’s a ton of data for the engineers to go through and fine-tune our setup. All of the drivers will hand in reports on their experiences with the different setups and the changes we think need to be done. Then it’ll be up to the engineers to come up with a good plan. We’ll have a little bit of testing at the race so we can try some different things. But we need to arrive back here with a car that’s ready for qualifying and for the race.”
OLIVER GAVIN, NO. 4 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R:“In the last couple of sessions, we were able to dial in and find something that we should be relatively comfortable with in our Corvette. We set up qualifying to get the best possible outcome for one car. Jan and I talked beforehand how we were going to do it, and we executed it really well. We knew at what lap the tire was going to be at its best. I was really mindful of where I was in positioning so Jan could come off the Bus Stop and get a really good run. It all works and came together from a good plan. It’s nice having the team work together and carrying on in the same vein as last year. It’s a great result for all of Corvette Racing.”
ANTONIO GARCIA, NO. 3 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R:“It’s very difficult to gauge after this weekend where everyone will be come Saturday of the race. We’ve done all we needed to do and ran through our testing plans. There’s not a ton on our Corvettes that we can try that is different. Everyone got good time in the car, which is great. The one area we needed to focus on most are the new Michelin tires, and know we have an idea of what to expect. We’ll analyze all we’ve done during these three days to come back as fast and as reliable as possible. If that’s enough then great. If not then we’ve done our best to perform at 100 percent.”
MIKE ROCKENFELLER, NO. 3 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R:“Overall we had a solid time at the Roar. We didn’t change a lot of things because we know the car inside and out, plus we know the track very well, too. We ran through a couple of small adjustments and tried to get me some seat time for me. I hadn’t driven the car since Le Mans last June. I really enjoyed my time back with Corvette Racing. The weather and conditions were great except for Friday night’s rain. Hopefully it stays like this for the race.”
TOMMY MILNER, NO. 4 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: “Coming here for the Roar gives us an opportunity to try a lot of things we won’t have time to try come race week. So it’s a good thing to run through all those setup options. It’s still tough to get a lot of running here even though it’s three days; we’ve had a lot of red flags and relatively short sessions. It was good to get some final laps in the afternoon session. We’ve been here many years now with the C7.R and we have a handle on what it takes to go fast here. There are always things to try and to learn. We’ll put all that information to make our best effort come the Rolex 24.”
MARCEL FÄSSLER, NO. 4 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: “It’s been important for me to get back in the Corvette to get some rhythm and get back in a racing mindset for the race. It was important to do as many laps as possible, and it was really quality time spent in the car. So I’m happy on the performance side. We’ve tested a few things this weekend looking ahead to the race. I’m happy from the weekend. We’re all looking forward with some positive thoughts and are all motivated for the race.”

Consistency Key in Corvette Racing 2019 Driver Lineup
Same pairings in pair of Corvette C7.Rs for IMSA’s 50th season

  • Corvette Racing going for fourth straight championship season
  • Garcia, Magnussen enter as two-time and defending GTLM Driver champions
  • Gavin, Milner together again for full season
  • Start of Corvette Racing’s third decade of competition
DETROIT (Jan. 2, 2019) – A new season for Corvette Racing will bring a familiar look and feel to race fans across North America in 2019 as the program confirmed its lineup today for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. It’s a roster that remains intact for the fourth consecutive year.
Corvette Racing’s four full-season drivers – Antonio Garcia, Jan Magnussen, Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner – are back together for the eighth consecutive season.
These four drivers have combined for 113 victories and 13 Driver Championships with Corvette Racing. No other driver roster in modern North American sports car racing can match that level of race- and championship-winning consistency.
For the fourth consecutive year, they will be joined by Mike Rockenfeller and Marcel Fässler in the Rolex 24 At Daytona and the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring to start the 2019 season.
Garcia and Magnussen will return in the No. 3 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C7.R as two-time and defending GTLM Driver Champions.  Since joining forces in 2012, Garcia and Magnussen have won 13 races including the Rolex 24 in 2015 and twice at Sebring – the latter two with Rockenfeller.
Meanwhile in the No. 4 Corvette C7.R, Gavin and Milner also will go for their third Driver Championship as a pairing. Like their teammates in the No. 3 Corvette, Gavin and Milner have won 13 times together. Among those are the Rolex 24 in 2016 (with Fässler), Sebring two times and the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2015.
Both of the Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C7.Rs will officially begin the 2019 IMSA season at the annual Roar Before the 24 at Daytona International Speedway from Friday through Sunday. It is the prelude for the season-opening Rolex 24 At Daytona – an event Corvette Racing has won three times.
The records of each Corvette Racing driver rank among the best in endurance sports car racing:
  • Antonio Garcia: 16 victories; three IMSA Driver Championships; winner at Le Mans (2009, 2011), Daytona (2015), Sebring (2009, 2015, 2017)
  • Oliver Gavin: 50 victories; five IMSA Driver Championships; winner at Le Mans (five times), Daytona (2016), Sebring (five times)
  • Jan Magnussen: 35 victories; four IMSA Driver Championships; winner at Le Mans (four times), Daytona (2015), Sebring (five times)
  • Tommy Milner: 14 victories; two IMSA Driver Championships; winner at Le Mans (2011, 2015), Daytona (2016), Sebring (two times)
  • Mike Rockenfeller: one victory; winner at Sebring (2017), Daytona (2010), Le Mans (2005 and 2010)
  • Marcel Fässler: two victories; winner at Daytona (2016), Sebring (2013, 2016), Le Mans (2011, 2012, 2014)
ANTONIO GARCIA, NO. 3 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: “It’s hard to believe this will be my 11th season with Corvette Racing and eighth as a full-time driver. We have been able to win a lot of races and championships during that time. Obviously Jan and I work very well together with our crew and engineers. That’s a large reason why we have won consecutive Driver Championships. The work begins again next week at Daytona. As a team, there have been important updates and progress to our Corvettes ahead of 2019. I think we can all feel confident in our ability to challenge for more race wins and championships.”
JAN MAGNUSSEN, NO. 3 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: “I can’t think of a better program to be part of than Corvette Racing. It’s like my second family, and it’s great that we’ve been able to achieve a high level of success. I can’t think of a better teammate than Antonio. We’re both highly competitive and push each other constantly. That’s the type of person you want sharing your car. With our collective group at Corvette Racing, we know that we can contend for another championship and more race wins, starting at Daytona.”
MIKE ROCKENFELLER, NO. 3 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: “It’s been far too long since I was with Corvette Racing. The is a fun program and it’s very well-run and organized. Any professional driver would want to be part of any team like this. Having said that, Marcel and I are very determined to do our part to place Corvette Racing in the best possible position to start the GTLM Championship with a win at the Rolex. It all starts with the Roar and three very important days of testing. I’m ready to get back!”

OLIVER GAVIN, NO. 4 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: “Being back with Corvette Racing and with Tommy is the best way to start 2019. It’s an amazing feat that we remain at the forefront of the GTLM championship each season. The people, the tools and resources we have within our program make all this possible. This may be the toughest season we will face with our Corvette C7.R. All of our competitors have had another year to fully develop their cars. But we know that this is only a single element in what makes a championship-winning team. We’ve displayed that many times and the Roar and the Rolex give us another chance to do so again.”
TOMMY MILNER, NO. 4 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: “It’s been a short offseason for several of us but I know everyone is ready to get back to Daytona and start a new season. Winning the Rolex and the GTLM Championship are goals for Corvette Racing each season. I’m confident that our test program since Petit Le Mans is going to put us in a great position to do that. We’ll be off and running immediately with the Roar and then ahead to the Rolex. The 2016 win with Oliver and Marcel is one I’m eager to repeat… although maybe not as tense this time!”
MARCEL FÄSSLER, NO. 4 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: “Starting 2019 with Corvette Racing at Daytona is the perfect way to get back into the groove of competition. I’m obviously very glad to return to a team that I have gotten to know so well the last few years. Tommy, Olly and I had a great end of 2018 at Road Atlanta so our goal is improve on that for the Rolex 24. Winning the race three years ago is a highlight in my career that I always will remember. It would be nice to add more with Corvette Racing this season.”

CORVETTE RACING AT SHANGHAI: All Set for China Race Debut
Gavin, Milner pleased with progression of Redline Corvette C7.R
SHANGHAI (Nov. 17, 2018) – Data collection and continued familiarization continued to be the name of the game for Corvette Racing at the SAIC International Circuit in Shanghai on Saturday ahead of the FIA World Endurance Championship’s Six Hours of Shanghai.
Both Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner expressed confidence and were pleased with the progression of Corvette Racing’s No. 64 Redline/Mobil 1 Chevrolet Corvette C7.R during the last two days, including dry running Saturday for the final practice and GTE Pro qualifying Saturday.
This is the team’s first race in the FIA WEC outside of June’s 24 Hours of Le Mans, and the program has spent the last two days collecting valuable bits of data and information from the Corvette, its Chevrolet small-block V8 and a different spec of Michelin tire from what it fields in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
Nevertheless, the two drivers were happy Saturday with the performance gains of the Corvette ahead of what appears to be a soggy Sunday for racing. Friday’s two practice sessions were both run in wet conditions with the Redline C7.R among the rest of the WEC GTE Pro competitors on pace.
The Six Hours of Shanghai will conclude Corvette Racing’s historic 20th season of racing around the world. Since 1999, the program has scored 107 global victories – including eight at the 24 Hours of Le Mans – 13 IMSA Team championships, and 12 Manufacturer and Driver titles. It also has completed more than 280,000 racing miles in two decades of competition.
The FIA WEC’s Six Hours of Shanghai will air from 9:30-11 p.m. ET on Saturday and 3-4:30 a.m. ET Sunday on Velocity. Full live streaming coverage will be available on MotorTrend On-Demand with full audio coverage on Radiolemans.com.
OLIVER GAVIN, NO. 64 REDLINE/MOBIL 1 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: “It is different here coming to an FIA WEC sprint race compared to Le Mans. The mentality is very different and the qualifying procedure is very different. You effectively have one-lap qualifying for both drivers. We made a decent step in setup from the dry practice this morning to qualifying this afternoon. And if it does stay dry tomorrow, we can make another significant step to get us close to the front-runners. But all the forecasts are saying there will be significant rain tomorrow. We’re expecting mixed conditions, and that will be good for us. We were competitive yesterday in the wet sessions. Like we’ve seen in so many endurance races, we run well in these. Our team is tested. We have an excellent team with great strategy and pit stops. The Redline Corvette C7.R is really coming along a lot closer to our performance window. Everyone on this team will do all they can to get us a good result.”
TOMMY MILNER, NO. 64 REDLINE/MOBIL 1 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: “We anticipate wet weather tomorrow and maybe a little bit of dry for tomorrow. Mother Nature is really giving us all sorts of weather conditions to prepare us! This is all a lot of data-gathering for us plus a new qualifying format. Olly and I both learned quite a bit. Ultimately it’s about going as fast as you can. As always, the race is what really matters. We certainly made a bit step between the free practice and qualifying with the Corvette, so we’re positive about that. We feel good about the car in wet based on yesterday. We’re moving in the right direction and getting closer on pace to our competition. We’ll spend tonight looking at data and come back tomorrow with a car that we feel will be right in the mix.”

CORVETTE RACING AT SHANGHAI: Venturing to the Far East for WEC Return
Gavin, Milner set to close team’s 20th season in Six Hours of Shanghai

Corvette Racing returns to FIA World Endurance Championship
Gavin/Milner pairing coming off runner-up finish at Petit Le Mans
Second WEC event outside Le Mans for Corvette Racing

DETROIT (Oct. 24, 2018) – Fresh off a strong finish to their North American racing campaign, Corvette Racing confirms Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner as drivers for its single-car entry in next month’s FIA World Endurance Championship race at Shanghai, China.

Gavin and Milner will team in a special Redline-liveried Chevrolet Corvette C7.R with the familiar No. 64 – the same number on the side of the Corvette which Gavin and Milner drove earlier this year at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the GTE Pro category. It was their only other FIA WEC appearance of the season.

The Six Hours of Shanghai will wrap up Corvette Racing’s 20th season of competition. The Gavin/Milner duo ended the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season by placing second in class at Road Atlanta’s Petit Le Mans to take third in the GT Le Mans (GTLM) Driver Championship; Corvette Racing teammates Antonio Garcia and Jan Magnussen shared the Driver title.

This will be the first race at the 16-turn, 5.45-mile kilometer Shanghai International Circuit for Corvette Racing and its two drivers although Gavin has some experience with testing and other non-racing activities at the track. As far as FIA WEC experience, this will be the second appearance in the series outside of Le Mans for both Gavin and Milner.

Milner competed for Corvette Racing at the FIA WEC’s 2014 round at Circuit of The Americas, finishing seventh in GTE Pro. Gavin raced the previous year for another manufacturer at COTA.

The FIA WEC’s Six Hours of Shanghai takes place Nov. 16-18.

OLIVER GAVIN, NO. 64 REDLINE/MOBIL 1 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: “It’s fantastic to go to Shanghai and compete in the World Endurance Championship. The last time we saw most of those competitors was at Le Mans. We know it’s tight, it’s tough and very competitive. So we’re looking forward to it. It’ll be great to see the challenge of the race in China. Going back to the WEC gives us a great chance to stay sharp in what is the offseason for IMSA. We are going there to be competitive, to run up front and to go for victory. Whenever Corvette Racing goes anywhere, it’s to win. A victory would be very, very sweet. It’s a challenge but one we’re really looking forward to. It’ll be great to see the challenge of the race in China.”

TOMMY MILNER, NO. 64 REDLINE/MOBIL 1 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: “We’re excited to challenge ourselves in the World Endurance Championship. Usually it’s at Le Mans but to do it at a place like Shanghai in more of a sprint format will be a lot of fun. It will be a big challenge – just like it is here in the U.S. But everyone in the FIA WEC is on top of their game as well. So it will be fun for us to challenge ourselves and see how we do with our Corvette C7.R.”

CORVETTE RACING AT SHANGHAI: New Challenge Awaits in China
First race in Far East for reigning IMSA powerhouse program

·      Six-hour enduro to test Corvette Racing team, drivers
·      Gavin, Milner aiming to head into offseason on a high note
·      China is second-largest global market for Chevrolet

DETROIT (Nov. 12, 2018) – For the entirety of its 20-year run, Corvette Racing has shown itself to be one of sports car racing’s premier programs. The team hopes again to prove its mettle in a completely new environment this weekend.

The Six Hours of Shanghai is part of the FIA World Endurance Championship and represents Corvette Racing’s second event in the series this year – the first being the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner will pilot the team’s No. 64 Chevrolet Corvette C7.R, which highlights Chevrolet’s Redline series of vehicles with a striking silver, red and black livery scheme for the event.

China is the second-largest global market for Chevrolet, hence the special design treatment on the Corvette. The Redline livery showcases a more contemporary look with sleek, stylish and sporty design elements on the exterior and interior of all Chevrolet Redline models.

While the C7.R may look different on the outside, it’s still part of a program that is coming off three straight Driver and Team championships in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship’s GT Le Mans (GTLM) class. The competition in the WEC’s GTE Pro category is made up of many of the same manufacturers and teams, so all of Corvette Racing is well aware of the upcoming challenge.

There is plenty to study. The track – a 16-turn, 3.39-mile circuit – will be the 28thh different venue on which Corvette Racing has competed. Gavin has some experience with testing and other non-racing activities at the track, and Milner has driven the circuit on Chevrolet Racing’s simulator.

The FIA WEC’s Six Hours of Shanghai takes place Nov. 16-18. Television and live streaming coverage will be available through Velocity and MotorTrend On-Demand in North America on Saturday night into Sunday morning Eastern Time.

OLIVER GAVIN, NO. 64 REDLINE/MOBIL 1 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: “I’ve been to Shanghai a number of times but I’ve never competed there. I’ve been there for test days and been around the circuit quite a lot. So I know it very well and I know the area pretty well. It’s certainly a fast track and challenging track. It has an exceptionally long backstraight with a fast, sweeping right-hander onto that straight. It’s going to be a great challenge for us. We’re all looking forward going back to the WEC and be part of that series again. It’s a fantastic championship and it will be a big challenge for Tommy, myself and the whole of Corvette Racing.”

TOMMY MILNER, NO. 64 REDLINE/MOBIL 1 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: “This will be my first time in China and obviously first time to this racetrack. But we’ve done quite a bit of work in the Chevrolet simulator already to get up to speed. Oliver has been to the track in the past driving a number of different cars. So I feel like we will be ready to go. It’s always something different and something special when you go to a new racetrack – especially this one, which looks really impressive in pictures and on video.”

About Redline in China

The Corvette C7.R will wear a special Redline livery for the race in Shanghai to promote the launch of the special edition in China across Chevrolet’s portfolio. The Redline series made its global debut in concept form at the 2015 SEMA Show. Inspired by a strong positive response, it became the broadest cross-portfolio special edition ever offered by Chevrolet. Last year, Chevrolet introduced its Redline special edition portfolio for China at Auto Guangzhou 2017 and announced that four Redline models will enter the domestic market in 2018. In the future, nearly all Chevrolet models in China will have Redline variants.

(My apologies for not posting the Corvette Racing news. Our house sustained heavy damage from Hurricane Michael on October 10. This also included internet access. Our trip to Petit Le Mans was cancelled and we are still trying to put our house and lives back together. I will try and update you with the latest press releases as soon as I can)

CORVETTE RACING AT ROAD ATLANTA: GTLM Title for Garcia, Magnussen
Gavin, Milner, Fässler second in Petit Le Mans on drama-filled day

BRASELTON, Ga. (Oct. 13, 2018) – Corvette Racing’s Antonio Garcia and Jan Magnussen won their second straight IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship GT Le Mans (GTLM) Driver title Saturday, and in true Corvette Racing fashion it was a team effort.

Oliver Gavin, Tommy Milner and Marcel Fässler placed second in class at Road Atlanta’s 10-hour Petit Le Mans in the No. 4 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C7.R to close Corvette Racing’s 20th season of competition in IMSA. Garcia, Magnussen and Fässler co-drove the No. 3 Corvette to an eighth-place finish – a result good enough to secure the GTLM Driver and Team championships.

It is the 12th Driver Championship for Corvette Racing and 13th Team title in the program’s 20-year history.

“Congratulations to Antonio, Jan and the No. 3 Corvette C7.R team on clinching the GTLM Driver Championship. This team never gave up all season to deliver our 12th Driver title for Corvette Racing over 20 seasons of competition,” said Mark Reuss, GM Executive Vice President and President Global Product Group and Cadillac. “And congratulations to Corvette Racing and Pratt & Miller on their 13th Team Championship. They prepared a race car that delivered consistent performance and that great combination of power, durability and efficiency.”

Both Corvettes showed race-winning pace throughout the day and into the night as both cars led multiple times in the 10 hours. But pitwork ultimately proved to play a huge role.

The No. 4 pit crew got Milner out ahead of the No. 3 Corvette’s lone remaining championship contender on his final pit stop with 48 minutes to go. That was only half the story, however.

The No. 3 Corvette crew needed just five-and-a-half minutes to repair its C7.R after a crash with Garcia at the wheel following a pit stop with less than three hours to go. Among other items, the crew replaced the Corvette’s nose, front fender and engine floor in lightning quick speed to keep the No. 3 C7.R in the race and in the championship hunt.

At that point, the focus turned to the No. 4 Corvette. Gavin, Milner and Fässler – who drove both Corvette entries in the race – fought and clawed their way to a position where Milner could pressure the sister car’s championship challenger late. The team’s effort proved even more important as the No. 4 Corvette went from fifth to third in the final GTLM Driver and Team standings.

Although Corvette Racing’s IMSA season is complete, there is one more race left in 2018. Corvette Racing will contest the FIA World Endurance Championship’s Six Hours of Shanghai on Nov. 16-18.

ANTONIO GARCIA, NO. 3 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R – GTLM DRIVER CHAMPION: "It was definitely a tough race. From Lap 1, I went in the lead and every time I was in the car I was going for it instead of holding position. It probably went from one of my best races of my career to the most embarrassing moment of my career. But that means Team Chevy and Corvette Racing did all the prep work before this race and allowed us to come back from that. Thank you to the 4 car for keeping the pressure up on the 67 car, which had to go for the win for the (championship) result. That's part of this championship - the 4 car keeping the pressure up at the end. I'm very happy. It will take me a little bit to forget that mistake, but I'm very happy for the whole team."
JAN MAGNUSSEN, NO. 3 MOBIL 1/SIRIUS XM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R – GTLM DRIVER CHAMPION: "The way it turned out, the way the 4 car went in there and really put pressure on changed things around. Fantastic. Such a massive team effort to make this happen. I'm so proud to be a part of this. We had a good car and were going to be right there in the mix and the pit exit stuff happened and put everything on its head. It looked like we were out of it, trying to figure out how to still make it happen. I think what really did it was the 4 car got sent super aggressively and changed the balance of things. Obviously the 4 car went for the win but they knew why they were doing it. It turned things in our favor."

OLIVER GAVIN, NO. 4 MOBIL 1/SIRIUS XM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R – SECOND PLACE IN GTLM RACE, THIRD IN GTLM DRIVER CHAMPIONSHIP: “It’s been another amazing performance by Corvette Racing. You look at all the stints by Tommy (Milner), Marcel (Fässler) or myself and the same on the 3 car, it was just exceptional. The strategy, the way the guys worked together was just amazing. Then Antonio (Garcia) had his problem and I’ve never seen the guys work so well together to get the 3 car back out there in a short amount of time. It was just exceptional. Everybody had such great team spirit, team harmony and everybody was pulling for that championship. Us getting third in the championship was quite a result for Tommy and myself, so I’m very happy with today.”

TOMMY MILNER, NO. 4 MOBIL 1/SIRIUS XM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R – SECOND PLACE IN GTLM RACE, THIRD IN GTLM DRIVER CHAMPIONSHIP: “We can be super proud of our effort today. The car was really good all race long. Pit stops, strategy, Olly and Marcel did great jobs in the car. What it came down to today was I think we had the car to win, we had the pace to win, but right toward the end I got stuck behind the Ford and I lost 8-10 seconds on the Porsche. A little unfortunate, but I wanted to be careful and not have any contact or interference with the Porsche on my part. In any case, everyone in the class did an awesome job. In the race we were fifth, then eighth, then sixth, and all over the place. Really impressive driving by everyone. I really wanted to win today but we can be happy with second place, and third in the championship was a bit of a stretch for us coming in. Good race today from all the guys on the 4 car to give us super pit stops and strategy.”

MARCEL FÄSSLER, NO. 4 MOBIL 1/SIRIUS XM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R – SECOND PLACE IN GTLM RACE: “My last podium finish was here in 2016, so I’m really happy and proud of the team. My first stint in the 3 car was a little tough and then in the 4 car I had a pretty good stint in the beginning. I congratulate the 3 car for the championship. It was an awesome job today, and thanks to Corvette Racing for its trust in me to drive both cars. The crew made this podium happen because they had an awesome pit stop in the end that got the 4 car out ahead of the others. For me, it was a nice end-of-season race and making the podium made for a really good day. I will do this again for Corvette Racing any time again.”

CORVETTE RACING AT ROAD ATLANTA: By the Numbers

DETROIT (Oct. 8, 2018) – Corvette Racing’s campaign in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship comes to a close this weekend at a track it has visited more often than any other during its illustrious history. On the verge of another IMSA championship, Corvette Racing is back at Road Atlanta for the 22 time since 1999 – this time for the 20th running of Petit Le Mans.

The collection of Corvette Racing’s statistics and honors at Road Atlanta is impressive – a theme that has been present throughout the team’s 20th season of competition.

  • 1: As in one team, one manufacturer and one model of car for 20 years: Corvette Racing, Chevrolet and the Chevrolet Corvette.
  • 2: Double-podium finishes this season for Corvette Racing: Canadian Tire Motorsport Park and Road America.
  • 3: Generations of Corvette Racing entries at Road Atlanta since 1999 – Corvette C5-R (1999-04) Corvette C6.R (2005-2013) and Corvette C7.R (2014-current).
  • 6: Career victories at Road Atlanta for Oliver Gavin – all with Corvette Racing. His first came in 2003 (Grand Prix of Atlanta), and five have come in Petit Le Mans (most among active drivers).
  • 7: Consecutive GTLM podium finishes for Antonio Garcia and Jan Magnussen in the No. 3 Corvette – Mid-Ohio (third), Watkins Glen (second), Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (second), Lime Rock Park (second), Road America (third), VIR (second) and Laguna Seca (third).
  • 10: Number of Road Atlanta victories for Corvette Racing dating back to 2000 – eight of those at Petit Le Mans.
  • 8: As in Chevrolet’s small-block V8. More than 100 million units have been sold worldwide and is the most successful engine in American motorsports.
  • 10: Petit Le Mans wins for Chevrolet – eight in GT and two in Prototype. That ranks third among manufacturers in event history.
  • 12: Manufacturer Championships for Chevrolet and Corvette Racing since 2001.
  • 16: Number of GT Le Mans wins in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship for Corvette Racing since the start of 2014. That’s the most of any manufacturer and team in GTLM.
  • 19: Consecutive Petit Le Mans starts for Jan Magnussen, the longest streak for any driver in race history.
  • 23: Drivers who have competed for Corvette Racing at Road Atlanta. Of those, 10 went on to win at Road Atlanta including current drivers Gavin and Magnussen.
  • 24: Tracks at which Corvette Racing has won races – Baltimore, COTA, Canadian Tire Motorsport Park/Mosport, Daytona, Detroit, Houston, Laguna Seca, Le Mans, Lime Rock, Long Beach, Miami, Mid-Ohio, Portland, Road America, Road Atlanta, Sebring, Sonoma, St. Petersburg, Texas, Trois Rivieres, Utah, VIR, Washington DC and Watkins Glen.
  • 28: Number of drivers for Corvette Racing since 1999.
  • 107: Victories worldwide for Corvette Racing – 99 in North America and eight at Le Mans.
  • 211: Event starts by Corvette Racing since 1999 following the most recent race at Laguna Seca.
  • 31,699.44: Number of racing miles completed by Corvette Racing in its 21 previous trips to Road Atlanta. That represents 12,703 laps or nearly 500 trips around Interstate 285 – Atlanta’s Perimeter.
  • 279,772.06: Total number of racing miles completed by Corvette Racing since its inception. To put that in perspective Apollo 13 – the longest manned spaceflight in history – covered “just” 248,655 miles.

CORVETTE RACING AT ROAD ATLANTA: Reliving the Pilgrim Pass
One of the greatest moments in team history at the end of 2000 Petit Le Mans

DETROIT (Oct. 4, 2018) – In the course of 20 years, Corvette Racing has produced reels and reels of highlight material. One of the biggest moments also was one of the first… dating all the way back to the 2000 racing season.

The final race of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship – the Oct. 13 Petit Le Mans – is as good a time as any to catch up with Andy Pilgrim and revisit the “Pilgrim Pass”. It was an audacious move that gave Corvette Racing only its second victory and first in one of the sport’s top endurance races.

“It was a turning point. Texas was the first win, but just like in golf we have four majors in racing: Daytona, Sebring, Le Mans and Petit Le Mans,” recalled Pilgrim, who drove the No. 4 Chevrolet Corvette C5-R with Kelly Collins and Franck Freon that day at Road Atlanta. “In those days, the Viper guys were dominant and we had to work really hard.”

Here’s how it played out: Pilgrim ran second with 20 minutes to go after closing down on the lead Dodge Viper in the final hour. After staying in the leader’s wheel tracks for several laps to go, Pilgrim made his move with two laps to go. Just after crossing start/finish, Pilgrim feigned a run on the outside of the front stretch, then made a hard move right under braking to catch the Viper off guard.

The Corvette made the first corner first with only centimeters between the rear of the C5-R and the front of the Viper. With no front downforce, the Viper went off track and Pilgrim drove away to victory.

“The leaders were coming, and I knew I had to make it work,” Pilgrim said. “I had to get the chicane perfect and Turn 12. I kept myself in his left-hand mirror so he could see me clearly on that side. I had a good run, positioned myself to the left and when he got on the brakes, I went right and stuffed it on the inside. I went down on the inside before he could react. And we never touched. The only reason he went off was I had taken all the downforce off the front of his car. I didn’t know he had gone off track!

“I flew up to Turn Two, and there’s always a light up there at the top of the hill. I saw the light in my side mirrors and thought, ‘Jeez he’s right on me!’ So I drove like a complete lunatic down through Four and Five. When I was out of that corner, I looked behind me and realized there were no lights behind me. That light at Turn Three is kind of off the track but shines on it and comes in your mirror. But I thought that was Tommy; I thought he was right on me! I came out of Turn Five and was massively four wheels off… and there was nobody there! It would have been hysterical – crashing the car being chased by a ghost car!”

The victory set Corvette Racing on a course that saw it win overall the following season in the Rolex 24 At Daytona and take the first of its eight class victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

“Chrysler was very proud of that program, and what I heard was that if the Viper guys won all four races, they were going to get some kind of massive bonus,” Pilgrim said. “They had won the three previous races coming to Petit Le Mans. But the race was our coming out party because we beat the multiple-time world champions at Petit Le Mans in that manner with that finish. Suddenly, Corvette Racing was on the scene. It was just huge, and I suppose we stopped that bonus from happening!

“Coming out of the pressroom after the race that night was amazing. There were hundreds of fans still there and yelling as we came out. It was remarkable how many people were there and how emotional they were. We were in the moment and probably didn’t really appreciate everything immediately. But now it’s 20 years later and we have thousands and thousands of Corvette Racing supporters. I’m just thrilled to be part of that history.”

Press Release:
CORVETTE RACING AT LAGUNA SECA: Points Lead for Garcia, Magnussen Going to
Finale
Seventh straight podium for No. 3 Corvette
Gavin, Milner fifth in chaotic Monterey race

MONTEREY, Calif. (Sept. 9, 2018) – For the second year in a row, Corvette
Racing will head to the finale of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar
Championship with the Driver and Team points lead in the GT Le Mans (GTLM)
category.

Antonio Garcia and Jan Magnussen placed third in class Sunday in the America’s
Tire 250 at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. It is the seventh consecutive
podium finish for the No. 3 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C7.R and
increased the points advantage for Garcia and Magnussen to nine points with
only the 10-hour Petit Le Mans left in the season.

A fourth-place class finish at Road Atlanta would give the duo their second
consecutive GTLM title.

Meanwhile, Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner placed fifth Sunday in the No. 4
Mobil 1/SiriusXM Corvette following a chaotic race that saw four full-course
caution periods in the first 80 minutes including one at the race start.
Once the race finally went green for more than a lap, the two Corvettes ran
first and second in class – with Gavin ahead of Magnussen – as a number of
different strategies began to emerge.

The pair of yellow C7.Rs swapped positions on the teams’ first pit stops for
fuel 40 minutes into the race and during the race’s third full-course
caution. Only two GTLM cars elected to stay out, and the Corvettes rejoined
third and fourth in class. The five lead GTLM cars, including the Corvettes,
all pitted again near the halfway point under the final yellow. Magnussen
handed off to Garcia during that stop, and Milner also took over for Gavin.

The race went green for the last 70 minutes. Garcia, now in the lead, made
his last fuel stop with 46 minutes left. Milner had stopped from third only
minutes later and rejoined fifth. As the race clock wound down, all the
Corvette squad could do is watch as the two lead cars made it to the finish
without stopping again.

Corvette Racing closes the IMSA season on Saturday, October 13 at Road
Atlanta’s Petit Le Mans.

ANTONIO GARCIA, NO. 3 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R – THIRD IN
GTLM: “We thought nobody could make it to the end if it was green and (our
competitors) were gambling on a yellow. They made it. It’s easy to think
about ‘what if.’ That’s what it means to be doing a little bit of something
different on strategy. I think we were on the back foot, also. We were
fighting for the championship and those two guys are not… they were gambling
on the win. It’s difficult to gamble when they can take no risks and you
take a lot of risk. That was the main thing. It is good to open up a few
more points toward Petit Le Mans. Definitely our competitors will be forced
to win. I also have the feel we could have won here and locked the
championship again, like we did last year.”

JAN MAGNUSSEN, NO. 3 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R – THIRD IN
GTLM: "For the championship, another podium is great. It's not at all what
we thought we were going to be able to do here. To be completely honest, I'm
a little bit disappointed, but it is what it is. The other cars went really,
really long on the last tank - over half of the race distance which is
pretty incredible. That's what it is. Another podium for the championship.
We are in a better position in the points than when we came here, so that’s
positive. Off to the last one at Road Atlanta and go for a win there."

OLIVER GAVIN, NO. 4 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R – FIFTH IN
GTLM: "It's tough to describe because so much happened during the race.
Right at the green flag there was complete carnage. I managed to get us
through all of that without any problems and damage. In the first green flag
session, everything went well; I was pulling away and the car was nice.
There was another caution so we came in for a stop, and there was a little
bit of confusion in our pit box about when I could go or couldn't go so the
No. 3 car jumped us. So, I thought, ‘OK that's fine. There is still plenty
of race to go.’  But then it just got a little bit ridiculous with the No.
67 car.  He got very aggressive and touched me a number of times, and he
tried to muscle his way past me coming out of turns two and into three. He
damaged his car and went off but we were able to continue. I think that did
something to our car. Then it became a fuel race. We didn't have the
ultimate pace to stay with the No. 3 car, but we were looking like we could
at least finish second or third at worse but some of our competitors managed
to really stretch that fuel and ended up getting a victory. And we ended up
finishing fifth, which I feel is pretty disappointing considering where we
were yesterday and how good the car felt at the start of the race. For our
car, maybe the track deteriorated a bit for us and the balance went away.
You want it to be the other way around. The guys did a really great job all
weekend and were really solid. We thought we were doing the right thing with
the strategy and the pit stops. Sometimes that's racing and we have to go
back and assess."

TOMMY MILNER, NO. 4 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R – FIFTH IN
GTLM: “That was super frustrating. We had a fast car all weekend. In the
race it all fell apart. We were looking OK with about an hour and 20 minutes
to go… first and second, I think. Then things didn’t quite go our way to the
end. It’s unfortunate when you have a fast car like we did and not get
anything out of it. Good job for the 3 Corvette guys on a good points day
for them today. But it could have been a lot better for all of us.”

Press Release:
CORVETTE RACING AT LAGUNA SECA: Pole Position for Gavin, No. 4 Corvette

Magnussen qualifies third in GTLM championship-leading C7.R

MONTEREY, California (Sept. 8, 2018) – Oliver Gavin captured pole position Saturday for the GT Le Mans (GTLM) category ahead of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship’s America’s Tire 250 at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. It was the first pole position at the circuit for Gavin, who will start just ahead of teammate Jan Magnussen on the GTLM grid.

Gavin set a best lap of 1:22.700 (97.421 mph) in the No. 4 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C7.R for his 22nd career pole position in IMSA competition. He and Tommy Milner are fourth in the GTLM Driver Championship standings with two events to go, and they won in class together in 2012 at Monterey.

As a program, Corvette Racing has won seven times at Laguna Seca in 19 previous appearances. Sunday’s race will be its 20th start at the 2.238-mile, 11-turn circuit near the Monterey Peninsula.

Magnussen, in the No. 3 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C7.R, qualified third in the GTLM Championship-leading entry he shares with Antonio Garcia. The defending GTLM co-champion set a best lap of 1:22.806 (97.297 mph) to slot in 0.106 seconds behind Gavin.

Magnussen and Garcia lead the GTLM Driver Championship by four points, and they won together in Monterey in 2013 and 2014. The No. 3 Corvette has finished on the podium in six consecutive races dating back to Mid-Ohio in May.

The America’s Tire 250 is set for 2:05 p.m. PT on Sunday with live television coverage on FOX Sports 1. Streaming in-car footage along with live audio coverage of practice, qualifying and the race from IMSA Radio is available on IMSA.com.

OLIVER GAVIN, NO. 4 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R – GTLM POLE-WINNER: “It’s always great to get pole position here at Laguna Seca. Thanks to everyone at Corvette Racing and the crew. It takes a massive effort from everyone on the team to get back to P1. I’m thrilled, but this is only a small step in trying to achieve what we want to achieve tomorrow, and that’s a victory. Once the green flag drops tomorrow, this is all kind of forgotten. We have a very good race car; obviously it fell in nicely for qualifying. The Corvette C7.R has been strong all year. We’ve had an amazing team, great strategy and pit stops. We just need to execute tomorrow. The competition is at an all-time high in GTLM, and to be able to beat those guys is pretty satisfying. But the real work is ahead for tomorrow.

“It’s nice to have this moment for the guys on our team. It gives everyone a nice little fill-up going into the race tomorrow. We’ll be pushing like crazy at the start and we’ll work hard tonight to make sure we have everything covered and we’re fully prepared for the race.”

JAN MAGNUSSEN, NO. 3 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R – QUALIFIED THIRD IN GTLM: “It was a good qualifying day for both cars and a great job for the No. 4 Corvette to get pole. It is very close at the front and a great way to start the race. I was half-expecting for it to be a lot worse, but I think both our cars hit the peak of the tire and got the best out of it. Let’s see if we can have a clean start and do what we need to do in the championship.

“With it being this close, there’s no controlling anything in the race. It’s about going and not making mistakes… running a good race and to the plan we set out to do. Everything you do matters: when you pit, how you conduct your pit stops… I’m not worried about that, though. That has always been one of our strongest points as a team.”

CORVETTE RACING AT LAGUNA SECA: Championship Fight Heads West
Program in contention for third straight IMSA GTLM title with two races to
go

Garcia, Magnussen arrive in California with Driver Championship lead
All four Corvette Racing drivers with multiple Laguna Seca victories
Chevrolet still in race for GTLM Manufacturer’s title
One of three tracks to play host to Corvette Racing in each of its previous
19 seasons

DETROIT (Sept. 4, 2018) – Corvette Racing begins its final push this weekend
to what it hopes is another title-winning campaign in the IMSA WeatherTech
SportsCar Championship. The defending GT Le Mans (GTLM) championship-winning
program heads west to the Monterey Peninsula and WeatherTech Raceway Laguna
Seca for Sunday’s America’s Tire 250.

It’s the 10th of 11 IMSA events for Corvette Racing, which for the first
time this year enters a race leading the Driver and Team championships.
Antonio Garcia and Jan Magnussen head the Driver standings in the No. 3
Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C7.R, with the No. 3 crew first in Team
points. Garcia, Magnussen and the No. 3 Corvette team are the defending GTLM
champions.

Corvette Racing’s Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner in the No. 4 Mobil
1/SiriusXM Corvette C7.R are fourth in the Driver Championship and have the
team’s lone victory of the year. In the Manufacturer standings, Chevrolet
stands second and 12 points out of the lead.

Corvette Racing will close its season at two tracks where it boasts
tremendous success – Laguna Seca and Road Atlanta. The former has witnessed
seven victories for Corvette Racing since 2004 and is one of three tracks at
which the team has competed in each of its previous 19 seasons.

Garcia and Magnussen are on a run of six consecutive podium finishes dating
back to Mid-Ohio in early May. They were runners-up at Watkins Glen,
Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, Lime Rock Park and VIR; they placed third at
Mid-Ohio and Road America. The duo is eager for their first victory of the
season, and Monterey would be an appropriate spot. They scored back-to-back
wins in 2013 and 2014.

Before those consecutive victories, Gavin and Milner won together at Laguna
Seca in 2012. In fact, Gavin and Magnussen are tied for second for most
victories at Laguna Seca with four each.

The America’s Tire 250 is set for 2:05 p.m. PT on Sunday with live
television coverage on FOX Sports 1. Streaming in-car footage along with
live audio coverage of practice, qualifying and the race from IMSA Radio is
available on IMSA.com.

ANTONIO GARCIA, NO. 3 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: “Laguna Seca
is always a nice race to go to. Jan and I have been fortunate to win a few
times there. Let’s see if this year is the same. We didn’t win last year but
did pretty much lock up the championship. It’s a lot tighter this year. A
good result for us would make things easier at Petit Le Mans. For us
Europeans, we feel a little bit closer to home out there. We always like it,
and the Monterey area is always very nice. We always have a good crowd and a
great Corvette Corral there. For sure we know we have a lot of supporters
there.”

JAN MAGNUSSEN, NO. 3 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: “I’ve been
fortunate to race at Laguna Seca many times. It’s always a good trip and a
good event. It can be a very tough track to read with the fluctuation in
temperatures and amount of sand that comes on the surface. But it’s like
many other circuits in our championship where you are punished if you make a
mistake. Antonio and I continue to be on a great run of races since Mid-Ohio
but we aren’t satisfied with podiums. We can’t win this championship without
winning a race as well. That continues to be our goal.”

OLIVER GAVIN, NO. 4 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: “This is a
fantastic race track and one we always enjoy going to each year. It has a
great series of corners – a tight and twisty track but a great challenge. We
at Corvette Racing has had a lot of success there as a program and one we
always look forward to this race on the calendar because of the event and
the Monterey area. This is the business end of the season. Championship
points are critical so all the teams will look to strategize and look to do
what we can to do to get the best possible result for the championship. We
always go there to win, so this will be a vital part of how the championship
plays out.”

TOMMY MILNER, NO. 4 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: “Our schedule
is full of classic circuits, and Laguna Seca certainly qualifies. It’s a
great track and one of the best areas for sports car racing anywhere in the
country. For a couple of reasons, the track can be pretty tricky when it
comes to finding grip. That makes the practice sessions important to make
sure we understand what makes the car work under braking and power-down on
corner exit. The team that can do that quickest stands to have a big
advantage come the race. Oliver and I have been quick the last few events,
but we need to put it all together in the race.”

DOUG FEHAN, CORVETTE RACING PROGRAM MANAGER: “As a steamy summer draws to a
close, there is no place better to race than the Monterey Peninsula and
WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. It’s the perfect track for a race with a
lot at stake in the GTLM championship. We have a great history here - seven
wins in 19 appearances. While we may not have the fastest car, we’ve shown
throughout the last couple of years that our vehicle engineering, our
on-track strategic decisions and our driver lineup is more than capable
overcoming most challenges we have faced. It’s a big reason why we have
Antonio and Jan leading the Driver’s Championship with two races left and
Oliver and Tommy always running toward the front. We hope that continues in
Monterey.”

CORVETTE RACING AT VIR: Second, Fourth Rows in Shot at Three-peat

Team going for fourth class victory in seven years at Virginia

DANVILLE, Virginia (August 18, 2018) – Corvette Racing will start from the second and fourth rows of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship at Virginia International Raceway following a somewhat damp qualifying session for Sunday's Michelin GT Challenge at VIR.

Antonio Garcia qualified fourth and Tommy Milner seventh in GT Le Mans (GTLM), which has headliner honors this weekend. Corvette Racing will go for its fourth victory at VIR in seven tries and third in a row.

A steady rain enveloped two-thirds of the 3.27-mile, 17-turn circuit just ahead of GTLM qualifying. As a result, the difference in conditions on opposite sides of the track made the driving and strategy tricky. Had it remained dry, Corvette Racing likely would have been in strong condition for pole position; Garcia was quickest in Friday’s second practice and Milner was fastest in Saturday morning’s final session.

Garcia set a best lap in qualifying of 1:56.760 (100.821 mph) in the No. 3 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C7.R that he shares with Jan Magnussen. The duo has made VIR its playground the last two years with consecutive victories and a pole position for Magnussen in 2016.

Garcia and Magnussen are second in the GTLM Driver’s Championship with three races remaining – four points behind the leaders – and have finished on the class podium in the last five IMSA races.

Milner’s best time was a 1:57.492 (100.193 mph) in the No. 4 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C7.R, which he will drive with Oliver Gavin. They were class winners at VIR in the 2012 American Le Mans Series race, and Milner set the fastest race lap a year ago.

Gavin and Milner stand fourth in GTLM points with a victory earlier this year at Long Beach.

The Michelin GT Challenge is set for 1:05 p.m. ET with FOX Sports 1 airing the race live from 1-2 p.m., followed by coverage on FOX Sports 2 from 2-4 p.m. Streaming in-car footage along with live audio coverage of practice, qualifying and the race from IMSA Radio is available on IMSA.com.

ANTONIO GARCIA, NO. 3 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R – QUALIFIED THIRD: “It was difficult to judge the amount of grip we would have. The differences between one side of track and the other was extreme. I felt I had to save my tires on the dry side and probably didn’t push a bit. We waited a bit to go out and only had three laps, so it was tough. We’re still on the second row, which isn’t bad considering how good or bad we would have been in the dry. We’ll see what tomorrow brings.”

TOMMY MILNER, NO. 4 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R – QUALIFIED SEVENTH: “Coulda, shoulda, woulda… Unfortunately the skies opened up right before we out and made the track really tricky. It’s easy to say that ‘if this’ and ‘if that’ it had stayed dry. But the guys ahead of me did a better job, but we have a great Corvette. Our car in the dry has been super fast all weekend. Olly and I feel good about it, and that’s the part that matters. We’ll look forward to a dry race and a good result.”

CORVETTE RACING AT VIR: Going for an Overall Three-peat
Three victories in Virginia for Corvette Racing since 2012

Quartet of drivers very much in GT Le Mans title chase
Garcia, Magnussen winners last two seasons at VIR
Gavin, Milner looking for second Virginia victory together

DETROIT (Aug. 15, 2018) – Corvette Racing’s title chase in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship takes it to a circuit where – not surprisingly – it has shown significant strength: Virginia International Raceway.

This weekend’s Michelin GT Challenge is a GT-only weekend with the GT Le Mans (GTLM) class taking top billing. It’s a situation that has worked out well for Corvette Racing in the past with the program looking for a third straight victory – and fourth in class since 2012 – at the 3.27-mile, 17-turn circuit that straddles the borders of North Carolina and Virginia.

Corvette Racing is the IMSA co-leader for victories at VIR with three – all in GT categories. Meanwhile, Chevrolet has seven IMSA victories at the track since 2002.

All four Corvette C7.R drivers remain well in the hunt for the GTLM Driver’s title with three races to go. Antonio Garcia and Jan Magnussen, partners in the No. 3 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C7.R, stand second in the championship and only four points behind. The duo have won the last two years at VIR and have finished on the GTLM podium in each of the last five IMSA races dating back to May at Mid-Ohio.

Magnussen was the pole-winner in 2016 in the No. 3 Corvette, and he also was a winner at VIR in a 2007 race for the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series. Garcia set the fastest race lap in 2012 as part of the American Le Mans Series GT class.

Oliver Gavin and Virginia’s Tommy Milner, in the No. 4 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Corvette C7.R, are fourth in GTLM points and 14 points out of the lead. They clinched the ALMS GT title in 2012 with a victory in Corvette Racing’s VIR debut and are coming off a runner-up finish two weeks ago at Road America – just ahead of the No. 3 Corvette.

Milner also won at VIR in 2005’s Rolex Series race and was a GT pole-winner the year prior. He and Gavin were GTLM winners earlier this year at Long Beach.

3 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: “We obviously would like to win three in a row at VIR. Our Corvette has been very good there. Being able to win that race last year put us in a very good position to win the championship. I hope it’s the same this year. We aren’t leading in points but we are very close. Oftentimes there is less than a half-second between GTLM cars there, so track position and qualifying will be key things. We are hopeful to carry on that momentum this week.”

JAN MAGNUSSEN, NO. 3 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: “VIR is a fantastic place and we’ve won there the last two years. We hope to find ourselves in contention again. It’s a great, old-school track that is very fast but also has a high level of risk. It’s those tracks I like best. Antonio and I really would like a win here to solidify ourselves in the championship. We’re in contention with a lot of podium finishes. We need that one win to really get our momentum going into the last couple of events.”

OLIVER GAVIN, NO. 4 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: ““Over the years, VIR has been very positive for us. We’ve all had very strong years there. The No. 3 car of course has won there the last two years. Tommy and I haven’t been far behind, and we had our victory there in 2012 to win the ALMS GT Championship. This year’s competition has been fierce, no matter which manufacturer we are racing. We need to focus and execute, which we did at Road America for two excellent podiums. But it’s getting toward the business end of the year and we need to get back to winning races. A strong and clean weekend is our goal and our focus.”

TOMMY MILNER, NO. 4 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: “From a driver’s perspective, all four of us really enjoy VIR, as do most of the other drivers in the series. It’s a lot of fun but difficult to get a perfect lap. There are a lot of places that you are unsighted in areas and really having to trust the car underneath you. These kinds of tracks and these kinds of corners reward a car that handles to your liking. Each year we have been there, we’ve been happy with our car right from the first practice. It’s a combination of all those things that when you put them all together, it’s very good for us.”

DOUG FEHAN, CORVETTE RACING PROGRAM MANAGER: “2012 marked the debut of the Corvette Racing program at VIR. Since our first trip there, it has quickly become one of our favorite stops of the year. It’s a unique track layout that has very distinct and defined sectors – one that is slower speed, another with high speeds with quick changes in direction and finally a roller-coaster ride to start-finish. As a result, it takes a very well-developed car to have success throughout the entire lap. In the last six years, our Corvettes have been just that. It’s a testament to the work done by our engineers, crew and drivers. To remain in championship contention, we will need all of that again this year.”

CORVETTE RACING AT ROAD AMERICA: Another Double Podium for Corvette C7.Rs
Milner, Gavin place second in GTLM; Garcia, Magnussen finish third in tight championship

ELKHART LAKE, Wisconsin (August 5, 2018) – Corvette Racing’s pair of Chevrolet Corvette C7.Rs raced their way to the GT Le Mans (GTLM) podium Sunday at Road America in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. With second- and third-place finishes in the Continental Tire Road Race Showcase, both teams solidified their championship standings heading into the final three events of the season.

Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner finished second in the No. 4 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C7.R on Sunday, their highest finish since winning at Long Beach earlier this season. Antonio Garcia and Jan Magnussen placed third in the No. 3 Sirius/XM Corvette for their fifth straight podium finish in IMSA competition.

Garcia and Magnussen remain second in GTLM Driver’s points after Sunday and just four points out of first place. The result for the No. 4 Corvette elevated Gavin and Milner one position to fourth and 10 points behind their teammates.

Chevrolet also remained second in GTLM Manufacturer’s points.

Sunday’s race featured a number of different strategies until the final restart with 40 minutes to go following the race’s fifth and final caution. Both Corvettes gained a spot in their opening stints to second and fourth, respectively, before fuel and tire strategies came into play.

Teams elected to make anywhere from two to four pit stops in the two-hour, 40-minute race with the Corvette Racing team electing to split their strategies. Garcia drove the first 38 minutes in the No. 3 Corvette before handing off to Magnussen. The Dane entered the race sixth but gained a couple of positions before Garcia re-entered the race with 80 minutes left.

Meanwhile, Gavin drove the same opening stint as Garcia and handed off to Milner, who made just one more stop with 63 minutes to go as the No. 4 team chose to gamble on having enough fuel to make it to the end.

Garcia came in for fuel and fresh Michelin tires a minute later, just as the race’s fourth full-course yellow came out. He came in again to top off on fuel with 55 minutes to go. When the race began again, Milner ran fourth and Garcia seventh.

Milner moved up another position to third with 44 minutes left, and Garcia began marching his way forward to fourth inside the final 30 minutes. The Corvette Racing engineers huddled in the pitlane and decided to let Garcia take a run at the then-second place No. 67 entry in the final 15 minutes to see if he could gain another position, but the clock and opportunities ran out. Milner went back around Garcia on the last lap to solidify the final order.

Corvette Racing’s next event is the Michelin GT Challenge at Virginia International Raceway on Sunday, August. 19.

OLIVER GAVIN, NO. 4 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R – FINISHED SECOND IN GTLM: “That is the name of the game here is to keep us scoring good points in this championship, and this championship is going to go right down to the wire. A double podium is very good for the team. The team really did a fantastic job and kept digging and digging to keep working on the car. The boys had great pit stops as always. That first stint for me was action-packed with the Porsches and the BMWs. There was a lot of stuff going on in turns One, Five and Six. I managed to give it back to Tommy in a reasonable state. He did a really solid job. Finishing second and third is a great team effort for Corvette Racing. I’m very proud of the effort. We’ll move on to Virginia and hope to get one better!”

TOMMY MILNER, NO. 4 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R – FINISHED SECOND IN GTLM: “Another Corvette double podium. I am very proud of this team. We work really hard to get the best car every time, and we had really good cars there at the end. We were just missing that little bit. The cars were super reliable; I could hit every curb I wanted to. We have great cars at Corvette Racing as always. Olly did a great job during that first stint. There was lot of action out there during the first couple of laps, and I was pretty nervous. He did an awesome job. He brought it in third, and we ended up second. Thanks to the whole team. It was a good team effort at the end trying to catch the Ford. Antonio was just a bit quicker than I was, and it was worth a shot letting him go by late in the race. It felt weird getting by him on the last lap, but it was a good team effort today.”

ANTONIO GARCIA, NO. 3 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R – FINISHED THIRD IN GTLM: “I’ve never won here, and I thought for sure we had a chance today. So it’s a little frustrating in that way. GTLM is so close. When it comes down a pit stop under caution, you cannot afford to lose one second. Unfortunately today for the first time in a long time, we went the other way on the first stop. That compromised our race a bit and we had to go crazy on the strategy. Before the last restart, I was last among the lead-lap cars. Winning this race from seventh with 40 minutes to go would have been amazing. I wanted to go for the win so bad. It was a gamble to ask the team to let me go after the 67 instead of fighting the 4 car. Unfortunately we were a lap short, which we didn’t get when the overall leader got by us. Thanks to Corvette Racing and Tommy to let me by and have a shot at the win. We’re still up there in the championship, but it’s frustrating that we could have won the last four races. But we are looking forward to the next three events and getting a win.”

JAN MAGNUSSEN, NO. 3 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R – FINISHED THIRD IN GTLM: “Considering the race we had and how we went up and down the order, third place for us and second for the No. 4 was about the best we could hope for. The team did a great job as usual. The car was great to drive… good as a race car. Even being close to other cars, we didn’t have a massive loss of grip. We changed strategies toward the end of my stint, but I was so happy with the car and where we were in the race. Fantastic job by Antonio as usual… he was super-fast in the end. But we were just a lap or two short to get the win. But it’s another podium. This is starting to look a lot like last year in terms of the consistency we have. But man, we want that win.”

CORVETTE RACING AT LIME ROCK: Third Straight Runner-Up for Garcia, Magnussen
No. 3 Corvette team closes in on GTLM points leaders; Gavin, Milner gain with fourth place

LAKEVILLE, Connecticut (July 21, 2018) – Corvette Racing’s Antonio Garcia and Jan Magnussen scored their third straight runner-up finish in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship on Saturday with a second-place overall finish at the Northeast Grand Prix.

Garcia and Magnussen combined to lead 138 of the race’s 178 laps in the No. 3 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C7.R around Lime Rock Park, where Garcia qualified on pole position. Saturday’s result moved the No. 3 duo to within one point of the GT Le Mans (GTLM) Driver’s Championship leaders.

Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner placed fourth Saturday in the No. 4 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C7.R – the same position in which Milner began the race.

Garcia led the entirety of his hour-long stint before he came into the pits for a driver change to Magnussen. The Dane drove a double-stint to the end and only lost the lead on the final pit stop cycle and an unfortunate off-track excursion with 10 minutes to go.

Magnussen passed a slower GT car coming into Lime Rock’s final, diving turn and slid wide on the exit of the corner. It took tremendous control for him to gather up the Corvette and rejoin without any damage.

Milner made an early jump into third place at the race start in the No. 4 Corvette and held that position until his first stop with 63 minutes running. Gavin took over and rejoined in fifth place with the goal of moving back up into podium position during the final two hours. His perseverance paid off as he went from seventh after his final pit stop with 62 minutes left to fourth by the end of the race.

The next event for Corvette Racing is Aug. 3-5 at Road America. The Aug. 5 race will air live on FOX Sports 1 at 2:30 p.m. ET with live audio coverage on IMSA Radio.

ANTONIO GARCIA, NO. 3 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R – RUNNER-UP: “It’s not what we want for sure, but a third runner-up in a row is good for our average and points. It was so close to our first victory of the season. We know how close the competition is here. The strategy was what we needed to do, and I think we knew the tire strategy and management would be the difference. The winners had a little bit more than us in the end, so there was nothing we could really do. Learning from second place isn’t that bad. We need to focus and carry on the work we are doing. Sooner or later, that victory will finally come.”

JAN MAGNUSSEN, NO. 3 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R – RUNNER-UP: “It is hard to swallow. It is tough because we had such a great car. Everyone did a fantastic job all weekend-the crew, the engineers, everybody. It was just a little bit of a longer stint for the tire compared to what the Ford had there at the end. It got difficult. He (Joey Hand) was catching me. I think I could have held him off a little bit longer than I ended up doing because I got into the marbles passing a GTD car on the inside of the last corner, and it just threw me wide off the track. He drove by and that was it.
“I know going that long on the tires was going to be a challenge. But second place isn’t bad. We caught up in the championship which is good. The car is almost in one piece. On to Road America and see if we can do better.
“Podiums are nice. They are really good for a championship, but when you lead 80 percent of the race, you want to win. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t disappointed, but for everybody it is a good result. I wanted a little bit more for all the hard work the team put in.”

OLIVER GAVIN, NO. 4 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R – FINISHED FOURTH: “This race is always a battle – mentally, physically – for the team, the car, the drivers. There never seems to be space for operate in, so there are bits of contact. There are always close calls. It seems like tensions are always pretty high here. You are always around someone. Just no space to operate.
“I had what seemed like a rather lonely race. It seemed like I was chasing people that were a ways away and slowly catching them. People were slowing pulling away from me. I was dealing with the car and the tires and just trying to manage everything the best I possibly could. We were okay. But by the end of the stints, we were really losing quite a lot of performance. Both Tommy and I seemed to fall off a cliff in terms of performance right at the end of our stints which is probably where some of the gaps appeared to the other cars.
“I really think we had a fourth place car today. The No. 3 was just that little bit quicker than us. It was good for them to score another podium. It was good points for us. We are still chipping away at scoring those points. We are still in the hunt, but we need to tidy some things up. We need to just work away at getting a little bit better of a race for both Tommy and me. We need to work away on things and just be able to put it all together.”

TOMMY MILNER, NO. 4 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R – FINISHED FOURTH: “I don’t know if you can make a plan for a race like this. I had an OK first stint; there was no damage, which was good. We missed a little on tire pressures, which made the car difficult to drive about halfway through that stint. We sort of sacrificed a little bit at the start to have better tires at the end of the race for Olly. We lost a little ground staying out a little longer and were hopefully we could make that up at the end.”

CORVETTE RACING AT LIME ROCK: Going for No. 100… Again
Sixth victory at Lime Rock Park would give team 100 victories in IMSA competition

No North American sports car team with more wins than Corvette Racing
Gavin, Milner captured Corvette Racing’s 100th all-time victory in 2016
Garcia, Magnussen enter second in GT Le Mans points

DETROIT (July 17, 2018) – In the course of 20 years, there has been a large number of milestones for the Corvette Racing program. Of all of them, perhaps none was as significant as its victory at Lime Rock Park in 2016 – the team’s 100th victory.

Corvette Racing returns to that scene two years later in search of another milestone. A victory in this weekend’s Northeast Grand Prix for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship will give the defending GT Le Mans (GTLM) champion its 100th victory in North America – far and away the most of any entrant in IMSA history.

The victory breakdown includes 16 in the WeatherTech Championship, 82 in the American Le Mans Series and one in the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series.

The odds of No. 100 coming again at Lime Rock are, statistically at least, better than average. Corvette Racing has won five times in 11 appearances at the 1.5-mile, seven-turn circuit that is as close to short-track track racing is it gets in the series.

In addition, Corvette Racing drivers have proven they can go fast in qualifying and in the race through the years: three class pole positions and seven fastest race laps including 2016 (Oliver Gavin) and 2017 (Antonio Garcia).

The two Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C7.Rs arrive at Lime Rock off second- and third-place finishes in the team’s most recent race at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. Garcia and Jan Magnussen in the No. 3 Corvette stand second in the GTLM Driver’s Championship and were runner-up at both CTMP and Watkins Glen.

Gavin and Tommy Milner scored Corvette Racing’s lone 2018 victory earlier this year at Long Beach, and they were the winners two years ago at Lime Rock. The runners-up in 2016? Garcia and Magnussen.

Another strong weekend also would aid Chevrolet’s pursuit of its 13tth Manufacturer’s Championship. Currently Chevy is second in GTLM points but only eight points from first place.

The Northeast Grand Prix begins at 3:10 p.m. ET on Saturday, July 21. Same-day television coverage will air at 4 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1. Streaming in-car footage along with live audio coverage of practice, qualifying and the race from IMSA Radio is available on IMSA.com.

ANTONIO GARCIA, NO. 3 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: “Lime Rock is very different than any other circuit we have in IMSA. It is a very short lap but a lot can happen during those 50 seconds. In many ways it is one of the more difficult races we will do this season. The strategy must be perfect, and there is little time to rest except maybe on the start-finish straight depending on traffic. Plus it is normally very hot. We are in good position in the championship again. The main thing will be not to make any mistakes or do anything that will cost us points.”

JAN MAGNUSSEN, NO. 3 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: “Racing at Lime Rock is very difficult. Usually it is very hot and humid, which creates more of a challenge. This is as close to short-track racing as we will get all season. It reminds me of the Danish Thundersport Championship that I race in Denmark - short laps with a lot of traffic. It seems like you are always fighting with other cars. So you need to be aggressive and get through the traffic while not putting yourself in places where you can lose positions… or worse, the car.”

OLIVER GAVIN, NO. 4 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: “I’ve been lucky to win at Lime Rock multiple times, and I have to say that each one was a challenge. It feels like there is something always going on… whether you are overtaking or being passed. That plus the normal humid and hot conditions add another level of difficulty. This is a very big race in terms of points with so many cars close together. While you can’t win a championship here, you can definitely lose one at Lime Rock.”

TOMMY MILNER, NO. 4 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: “It’s always an interesting race when it’s a GT-only weekend, like it is again at Lime Rock. It gives you a little something extra to race for when you’re going for an overall win. But we can’t get too caught up in that. There are so many facets of the circuit and the race that demand focus. Traffic is usually non-stop, and the slightest contact can end your day early. It can be a very physical test too with the heat and humidity working against you, as well. It’s another great challenge that everyone at Corvette Racing is ready to face.”

DOUG FEHAN, CORVETTE RACING PROGRAM MANAGER: “We are fortunate to race on a variety of tracks on the IMSA schedule each year. Every venue offers something unique, and Lime Rock is no different. While it may look pretty benign at just 1.5 miles, it has a lot to challenge any team or driver. During the race there will be an endless number of strategy options available given the very short lap times, track characteristics and this being a GT-only race. Corvette Racing has been successful at Lime Rock in the past, including our 100th win, and the expectation is that our winning ways will continue this weekend.”

PRESS RELEASE:
CORVETTE RACING IN CANADA: Top-Five Starts for Pair of Chevrolet Corvettes
Magnussen third, Gavin fifth in tight GT Le Mans battle

Corvette Racing going for 12th class victory at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park
Second race of back-to-back events for team

BOWMANVILLE, Ontario, Canada (July 7, 2018) – Corvette Racing will start third and fifth with its pair of Chevrolet Corvette C7.Rs for the Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park following an incredibly close GT Le Mans qualifying session Saturday.

The reigning GT Le Mans (GTLM) championship-winning program will go for its 12th class victory at the historic 2.459-mile, 10-turn layout Sunday. It will mark Corvette Racing’s fifth event in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship this season.

Jan Magnussen qualified third in the No. 3 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C7.R that he will share with Antonio Garcia. Magnussen, who has five of his six CTMP victories with Corvette Racing, set a best time of 1:13.934 (119.733 mph) and finished within 0.417 seconds of pole-winner Nick Tandy.

Magnussen and Garcia are coming off a runner-up GTLM finish at Watkins Glen a week ago. They won together at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in 2014 during the first year of the Corvette C7.R.

Oliver Gavin was fifth in the No. 4 Chevrolet Corvette at 1:14.080 (119.465 mph) that he drives with Tommy Milner. Gavin sought his fourth career pole at CTMP. He and Milner won together at the track in 2013 in the final year of the Corvette C6.R.

Saturday’s qualifying results should put both Corvette Racing entries in good shape to improve their championship standings. Garcia and Magnussen sit third and only four points from first place while Gavin and Milner are 10 points back in sixth place. The Manufacturer Championship is just as close with Chevrolet only five points out of the lead.

The Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix begins at 2:05 p.m. ET. Same-day television coverage will air at 4 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1 with the FOX Sports Go app showing the race live. Streaming in-car footage along with live audio coverage of practice, qualifying and the race from IMSA Radio is available on IMSA.com.

JAN MAGNUSSEN, NO. 3 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R - QUALIFIED THIRD IN GTLM: “I’m quite happy. This is as fast as we have ever been here, so obviously we have made good progress. It’s super-tight, with the exception of the pole-sitter; he was three-tenths ahead and everyone else is just about the same. Third is a good starting point for the race. Hopefully we can have a good start and make something happen. I was very happy with the car. I did more laps in qualifying than ideally I like to because I knew I was just on the other side of the peak of the tire. I could still kind of massage a little bit to improve a little. But I’m happy with P3 and all the work the guys have done on the car - Kyle (Millay, engineer), Dan (Binks, crew chief) and the rest of the crew. We’ll go to the race and see if we can get the most points.”

OLIVER GAVIN, NO. 4 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R – QUALIFIED FIFTH IN GTLM: “Right at the start, it looked like we had a good car. Tire performance was there almost immediately, but I think I might have gone a bit too hard on the tire too soon. We may also have missed it slightly on the pressures as well, so everything maybe grew a bit too quickly in terms of tire pressure and how the tire performed. There was a small communication on the radio on some bits and pieces, so it wasn’t a completely clean and straightforward qualifying session. But it was very close. We’ll work hard at it and look at the data to try and tune up the car a little more. We are definitely close and in the hunt. It’s a real battle. If you take the pole-winning car away, you see that everyone else is pretty well right there together. So that’s encouraging. It will come down to execution, and that’s what this team is so good at.”

DETROIT (July 4, 2018) – Corvette Racing may be an American team, but it also feels at home at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. Now in its 20th season of competition, the program has raced at the famed venue since 2000 and has recorded numerous successes there over the years. Ahead of this year’s Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix, take a look back at some of Corvette Racing’s best facts and figures through the years at CTMP:

  • 1: As in one team, one manufacturer and one model of car for 20 years: Corvette Racing, Chevrolet and the Chevrolet Corvette.
  • 3: Generations of Corvette Racing entries at CTMP since 2000 – Corvette C5-R (2000-04), Corvette C6.R (2005-13) and Corvette C7.R (2014-current).
  • 7: Number of drivers who have won races at CTMP for Corvette Racing. Johnny O’Connell (6), Jan Magnussen (5), Oliver Gavin (4), Ron Fellows (3) and Olivier Beretta (2) each have multiple wins with the team.
  • 7: Pole positions for Corvette Racing drivers at CTMP. Oliver Gavin leads with three with Antonio Garcia (2016) being the most recent.
  • 8: As in Chevrolet’s small-block V8. More than 100 million units have been sold worldwide and is the most successful engine in American motorsports.
  • 11: Class victories at Corvette Racing at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park – all since 2001.
  • 19: Number of victories for Corvette Racing’s current lineup at CTMP:
    • Jan Magnussen: 5
    • Oliver Gavin: 4
    • Tommy Milner: 1
    • Antonio Garcia: 1
  • 21: Tracks at which Corvette Racing has won races – Baltimore, COTA, Canadian Tire Motorsport Park/Mosport, Daytona, Detroit, Houston, Laguna Seca, Le Mans, Lime Rock, Long Beach, Miami, Mid-Ohio, Portland, Road America, Road Atlanta, Sebring, Sonoma, St. Petersburg, Texas, Trois Rivieres and Utah.
  • 28: Number of drivers for Corvette Racing since 1999.
  • 107: Victories worldwide for Corvette Racing – 99 in North America and eight at Le Mans.
  • 206: Event starts by Corvette Racing since 1999.
  • 9,958.95: Number of racing miles completed by Corvette Racing in its 18 previous trips to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. That represents 4,050 laps and approximately 40 trips from Detroit to Toronto.
  • 278,482.37: Total number of racing miles completed by Corvette Racing since its inception. To put that in perspective Apollo 13 – the longest manned spaceflight in history – covered “just” 248,655 miles.

Press Release:
CORVETTE RACING AT WATKINS GLEN: Steamy Runner-Up for Garcia, Magnussen
No. 3 Corvette on GTLM podium for second straight season; Gavin, Milner finish top-five

WATKINS GLEN, New York (July 1, 2018) – Corvette Racing endured one of its most trying races in recent memory Sunday, and the team was rewarded with a runner-up finish by Antonio Garcia and Jan Magnussen in the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen.  The No. 3 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C7.R led 30 laps at Watkins Glen International as the squad soldiered through record-setting heat in the Finger Lakes region of New York.

The result moves Garcia and Gavin to third place in the GT Le Mans (GTLM) points standings in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. Chevrolet stands third in Manufacturer points heading into next weekend’s race at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park just outside Toronto.

Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner also spent considerable time out front Sunday in the No. 4 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Corvette and ultimately finished fifth in class.

“The Corvette drivers, crew and engineers executed their race plan in extreme conditions with the same never-give-up effort that has defined this program for the last 20 years,” said Jim Campbell, Chevrolet U.S. Vice President, Performance Vehicles and Motorsports. “We picked up some critical points in the Driver and Manufacturer standings with the top-two finish.

“It’s always great to race with the support of so many Corvette owners here at Watkins Glen in the Corvette Corral and watching around the world,” he added. “We can’t wait to race at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park Motorsports Park next weekend.”

Sunday’s race featured multiple strategies over the six hours as the two Corvettes started from third and fourth. The pair of cars couldn’t match the pace of its four strongest competitors, but the race’s second half saw Corvette Racing makes its move to the front.

Magnussen began the push with a strong second stint that saw him manage his fuel enough to be the last GTLM car to pit just before the three-hour mark. By going a lap longer on fuel, it meant the No. 3 Corvette needed less fuel than its competitors 30 minutes later and moved from sixth to third.

The same caution period saw Gavin move into the lead in the No. 4 Corvette as he was able to make a pit stop just before the yellow flag came out and the pits closed. He and Milner traded single stints throughout, and both Corvettes were in position to challenge for the race lead when the final caution period ended with nearly 40 minutes left.

Corvette Racing is back in action this weekend at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park for the Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix. The race will air at 4 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1 and live on the FOX Sports Go app. Streaming in-car footage along with live audio coverage of practice, qualifying and the race from IMSA Radio is available on IMSA.com.

ANTONIO GARCIA, NO. 3 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R – SECOND IN GTLM: “I think we had very close to a perfect race. You’ll always look back and think about things we could have done differently. I had fuel reserve for the last six laps or so. I don’t know how much fuel we were able to use at the end so maybe that didn’t allow us to go as hard at the end. We had to play it more conservative just in case. Perhaps we would have been able to be more aggressive and race the Fords harder. Thinking about where we have had lately and where we have been in practice and qualifying… to be fair we weren’t dreaming about a win. We wanted a good result, and today was almost a win where we led a lot of laps. We can’t be upset or depressed by second place. That’s a top job and result for everyone at Corvette Racing.”

JAN MAGNUSSEN, NO. 3 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R – SECOND IN GTLM: “It was a tough race in many areas. The heat was a problem. The double stint early for me was not easy, but I have to say I liked the car all the race. But there at the end, we just didn’t have the pace when it mattered so we’ll work a little harder on it. Antonio did great in the heat and trying to get the Michelin tires to last – a fantastic job. The team did, as usual, everything they could in the pits to try and improve our position which they did. But second was all we could get out of it today.  I’m very happy with that for the points… fantastic. But after six hours of sweating, you want to win.”

OLIVER GAVIN, NO. 4 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R – FIFTH IN GTLM: “The race had a lot that happened. It was brutally hot, and that was pushing everything to the limit whether that was the tires, the car, the brakes, the crew, the drivers...  At points today we were over the limit with some of those things. It was a real battle out there today just to get through to the finish. Tommy did a fantastic job there at the end just to get the car home. Fifth points… is that where we wanted to be? Absolutely not. We want to be up there at the sharp end battling for the victory. But it wasn’t our day. We need to go back and look and see what we can do better. I’m glad that Tommy made it through unscathed as we leave here. It’s also good to see the sister car on the podium and get some good points for us.”

TOMMY MILNER, NO. 4 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R – FIFTH IN GTLM: “The two Fords at the start were definitely the quickest, and the Porsches were strong. Our qualifying position stymied them early. It was a phenomenal job by the 3 Corvette guys to hold on to second place at the end. Both the Porsches had a little bit of pace on us. We were struggling at the end with the brakes, so it took me a little bit to figure how to drive the car with the brakes in that condition. It’s something to look at for the future and see why we struggled there. Fifth isn’t too bad, but it’s a little frustrating when you’re a little further up for a good chunk of the race and things fade at the end.”

Press Release:
CORVETTE RACING AT WATKINS GLEN: Second-Row Sweep in GTLM Qualifying
Milner third, Garcia fourth in Corvette C7.Rs ahead of steamy Sahlen’s Six Hours

WATKINS GLEN, New York (June 30, 2018) – Both Tommy Milner and Antonio Garcia made their final laps in Corvette Racing’s Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C7.Rs count Saturday in qualifying for the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen. The Corvette Racing teammates filled out the second row in the GT Le Mans (GTLM) category for Sunday’s round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

Tommy Milner was third-fastest in GTLM with a lap of 1:42.365 (119.572 mph) in the No. 4 Corvette C7.R, which he shares with Oliver Gavin. Milner’s final pass around the 3.4-mile, 11-turn road course moved him from sixth to third and within 0.417 seconds of the class pole-winning entry.

Not long after Milner clicked off his best lap, Antonio Garcia went to fourth in the No. 3 Corvette C7.R with a lap of 1:42.497 (119.418 mph). That came after a spin early in the session for Garcia at the Bus Stop chicane. It left the Corvette with relatively harmless damage, and after some feedback from team engineers and feeling out the handling of the car, Garcia pressed on. Garcia and teammate Jan Magnussen were winners at Watkins Glen in 2014 with the No. 3 Corvette.

Saturday’s results marked Corvette Racing’s best combined qualifying showing at The Glen since the team made its WGI debut in 2014. The top six GTLM cars were within 0.667 seconds with only 0.25 seconds covering third through sixth.

The on-track competition won’t be the only thing that Corvette Racing will fight Sunday. Record-breaking temperatures will approach 100F, which will put incredible stress on the drivers along with the pit crews and engineers.

The Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen is the start of a critical three-race stretch in four weeks for Corvette Racing, which is seeking to defend its GTLM championships in America’s premier sports car series. Both Corvette C7.Rs will run in a special patriotic livery this weekend ahead of Independence Day. For the past 20 years, Corvette Racing has been proud to field an American team from an American manufacturer with an American sports car.

The Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen will air live at 9:30 a.m. ET on FOX Sports 1 and the FOX Sports Go app. Streaming in-car footage along with live audio coverage of practice, qualifying and the race from IMSA Radio is available on IMSA.com.

TOMMY MILNER, NO. 4 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R – QUALIFIED THIRD IN GTLM: “That feels like a pole position with how the lap came about there. It was pretty difficult to start with on the run with a little bit of a balance issue. I don’t know if it was knowing it was the last lap, but the balance came to me just a little bit. Maybe it went too far the other way in some sense, but I looked at the lap predictor coming out of the Carousel, and it was good. That gave me a little extra motivation to keep pushing and not make a mistake. We still have some work to do in thinking about the car and making it last in heat. But yes… third place is a great place to start from for us.”
ON LONG RUNS: “The conditions from when we did our long runs in practice was when it was not quite as hot as it will be Sunday, so it’s a bit of an unknown. Looking at our competitors, the two cars ahead of us look quite strong. We have spent a lot of time thinking about long-run pace and getting an idea about where we may stand.”

ANTONIO GARCIA, NO. 3 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R – QUALIFIED FOURTH IN GTLM: “That was lucky! I didn’t give up saving the car until I touched the wall. We don’t exactly know what the damage is, but I thought it was game over. But our engineers said everything look good, and it felt OK to me once I was rolling again. It definitely compromised things a little bit because I wasn’t quite as confident and I didn’t want to do that again. But our car is very strong. Being on the second row with both our Corvettes is very decent compared to past years. We will hope for a good race tomorrow. I think we can be strong.”
RACE OUTLOOK: “Other than the off in qualifying, we have run solidly through all our practice plans. The car is good. The conditions we were have been running in are difficult, and the conditions tomorrow will be even worse. We are doing what we need to do to prepare for the race. We are in a good spot for tomorrow.”

PRESS RELEASE:
CORVETTE RACING AT WATKINS GLEN: Back on Familiar Ground
First event for Corvette Racing since 24 Hours of Le Mans

Program looking for second victory at Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen
Four Corvette Racing drivers tied in GTLM points after four rounds
Corvette C7.Rs to show patriotic livery ahead of Independence Day

DETROIT (June 27, 2018) – Following another appearance at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Corvette Racing is back on American soil as it returns to competition in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship this weekend at Watkins Glen International. The classic 3.4-mile, 11-turn road course in the Finger Lakes region of New York is a fitting stop for Corvette Racing, which is celebrating its 20th season of competition.

The Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen is the start of a critical three-race stretch in four weeks for Corvette Racing, which is seeking to defend its GT Le Mans (GTLM) championships in America’s premier sports car series.

Both the team’s Chevrolet Corvette C7.Rs returned to home base in Michigan late last week following Le Mans. Team personnel had only four days to revert the two race cars into their IMSA configuration and restock its inventory of parts and components for the next three events.

The first of those, of course, is Sunday at The Glen. Corvette Racing’s Antonio Garcia and Jan Magnussen were victorious in 2014, and they were third a year ago in GTLM. The pairing, which will share the No. 3 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C7.R, comes off a fourth-place finish in class at Le Mans and third in the most recent GTLM race at Mid-Ohio.

Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner have one victory to their credit in the No. 4 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Corvette C7.R, and they are tied with their No. 3 teammates for fourth place in championship point. Milner and Gavin hope to rebound from a disappointing Le Mans, where they were forced to retire early due to engine overheating.

The No. 4 Corvette has finished fourth and fifth in class the last two years at The Glen, and hopes are high that the Gavin/Milner duo can climb the podium at The Glen for the first time.

Both Corvette C7.Rs will run in a special patriotic livery this weekend ahead of Independence Day. For the past 20 years, Corvette Racing has been proud to field an American team from an American manufacturer with an American sports car.

Chevrolet, Corvette on Display at The Glen
Along with its familiar yellow Corvette C7.Rs on the Watkins Glen race track this weekend, Chevrolet also will have a presence off it with its Corvette Racing Display. Opening on Friday, Chevrolet’s Corvette Racing Display again will be part of the Watkins Glen Midway with a number of Chevrolet performance and passenger vehicles on-hand for interested spectators. Out of all those, however, there is one special auto that likely will command the most attention: the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1.

Bearing a badge that is steeped in history and incredible performance, the Corvette ZR1 doesn’t disappoint. The supercar that establishes a new standard at Chevrolet for power output, track performance and technology with top track speed of 212 mph thanks to a 6.2L supercharged V8 that generates 755 hp.

Traces of the Corvette Racing program are all over the ZR1. Most notable are the prominent splitter at the front of the car and a rear wing for additional downforce. Both were developed out of lessons learned from motorsports.

Also among the lineup of Chevrolets at the Display include:
Performance and production models such as the Chevrolet Camaro 2SS 1LE, Traverse High Country, Silverado HD High Country, Equinox Premier and Malibu Premier.
A Corvette C7.R show car
Samples of Chevrolet engines, performance parts and accessories available to fans for purchase from their local Chevrolet dealer
A variety of Chevrolet and racing related activities for adults and kids
Commemorative Corvette Racing 20th Season t-shirts for fans who sign up with Corvette Racing.

ANTONIO GARCIA, NO. 3 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: “After a disappointing result at Le Mans, the best thing we can do is focus on what will make us successful at Watkins Glen. We did a good job at Le Mans and didn’t make any mistakes. So that can give us confidence going back to IMSA competition, and we need to replicate that at The Glen. A lot can change in the next four weeks, to be sure. Watkins Glen is a track that I really enjoy. Hopefully we have the pace to fight for the win.”

JAN MAGNUSSEN, NO. 3 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: “Watkins Glen is a really tough race – a six-hour sprint race. In a lot of ways, we are going back to what we know with the IMSA process and competition. Things were a little different at Le Mans in that respect. But at the Glen, we’ll be back among the usual teams and competition that we know a little better. This is the start of a run of races where a lot can happen in the points. Let’s see how it shakes out for us.”

OLIVER GAVIN, NO. 4 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: “Watkins Glen starts an important period of our championship. It’s always a fantastic track to go to – high-speed, really physical and demanding. It’s great fun to drive there. We always get fantastic support there with the biggest Corvette Corral of the season. That’s always wonderful to see all the Corvettes parked at Turn One. We’re starting a really important part of our year. The guys on the team will have their work cut out for them getting things ready for the next month. But everyone on this program works exceptionally hard, and I’ve no doubt we all will be ready for The Glen.”

TOMMY MILNER, NO. 4 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: “In some ways, you can get a little caught off-guard by Watkins Glen because we spend so much time focusing on Le Mans. But it’s not long after you get home that you’re off again to Watkins Glen. There is some adjustment when you arrive at The Glen. We’ll be back in high-downforce configuration, which is a bit of a change for us. It’s a shorter weekend than Le Mans, and things happen quick. In a lot of ways it’s a big adjustment but a lot of it at the same is similar – same team, same car, same co-drivers.”

DOUG FEHAN, CORVETTE RACING PROGRAM MANAGER: “In our 20 years of competition, Corvette Racing has been fortunate to race great tracks throughout North America. Four years ago, we were able to add one of the best when we raced for the first time at Watkins Glen. It’s a classic American circuit that is perfect for our type of racing. We’re hopeful to rebound from a difficult Le Mans with another strong showing for our fans at The Glen. It’s an important weekend ahead of Independence Day. We’re proud of our heritage as an American team with an American car from an American manufacturer. That’s about as patriotic as it gets!”

Corvette Racing: C7.Rs May Be With Us For A Little While Longer
By
Mitch Talley

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

That axiom appears to be true for the Corvette Racing team, which has racked up eight GT wins out of 19 tries at Le Mans.

Corvette Racing program manager Doug Fehan says this year won’t be the last for the Chevy Corvette C7.R to compete, despite debuting at Le Mans and IMSA four years ago.

He believes another axiom might be true, too: You’re not getting older, you’re getting better.

“I don’t like to refer to it as an old car,” Fehan said of the C7.R during an interview with Motorsport.com, “but it has many years of participation here at Le Mans, which is not a bad thing.”

In fact, Fehan said they went faster the night before this interview in the C7.R than ever before, “which means that development pays off. Improvement in tires, aerodynamics, chassis – all those things.”

That’s why he says he’s “not concerned” that the C7.R is getting some age and faces increasing competition from newer models.

“At the end of the day the BoP is designed to be able to level that playing field [so] I’m not concerned with the age of the car at all,” Fehan said. “Not at all. Its durability and reliability and performance have been well-proven. We feel pretty confident in bringing them out as we know they’re dependable.”

The team that spends the least amount of time in the pit box usually wins – not necessarily the fastest car, Fehan pointed out.

He believes work by Michelin developing a new tire for the C7.R’s fifth season at Le Mans is “first and foremost” behind the gains made by his team this year. “That’ll be an interesting development,” he said, “(but) we know it’s better.”

He also said the team has seen “some gains” in aerodynamics, braking, and overall handling with the chassis and is tweaking different setups, caster, amber, “getting all those things to work in unison. That’s what we’ve been working on.”

With all the rumors about the C8 possibly making its debut in 2019, Fehan played dumb, at least to the media, saying he expects to see the same C7.R version “for a while.”

“Eventually there will be an eighth-generation Corvette,” he said. “When they introduce that car, we’ll be racing it. But I don’t think that’s going to be for a while.”

Press Release:
Corvette C7.R to Race in WEC in Shanghai

Its first race in Asia will close Corvette Racing’s historic 20th season
Corvette C7.R racecar features special Redline livery

SHENZHEN – Chevrolet announced today that Corvette Racing will close its 20th season of competition in grand style by competing in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) 2018 race in Shanghai. The C7.R racecar, which will wear a special Redline livery for the competition, will be the first factory-run Corvette to race in Asia.

The 6 Hours of Shanghai will take place from November 16-18 at the 16-turn, 5.45-km Shanghai International Circuit. Built in 2004, the venue plays host to a number of motorsports’ top championships, including the Formula One Chinese Grand Prix.

“Corvette is a global icon that we are excited to be bringing to race in China – the second largest market for Chevrolet,” said Scott Lawson, general director of Chevrolet for SAIC-GM.

The WEC is one of the world's key sports car series that features racing at venues across the world with all races being at least six hours in duration. The Le Mans 24 Hours endurance race is the WEC's most famous stop and it features twice in the 2018-2019 calendar. It tests not only speed and driving skills, but also the stability and fuel economy of cars in extreme driving.

“Corvette Racing has proven itself as a world-class racing program,” said Mark Kent, Chevrolet director of Motorsports Competition. “Competing in the Shanghai race provides us an additional opportunity to test ourselves against the top manufacturers and teams in the FIA WEC.”

Corvette Racing team highlights:
Winner of 107 races around the world
12 manufacturer championships in International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) competition
11 driver’s championships in IMSA competition
11-time class champion of the Sebring 12-hour endurance race
Eight-time winner of the Le Mans 24-hour endurance race
Three-time class champion of the Daytona 24-hour endurance race
Captured wins in Daytona, Sebring and Le Mans endurance races in 2015

Racing has been part of Chevrolet’s DNA since the brand was established by race car driver Louis Chevrolet more than a century ago. This performance-inspired DNA continues to influence the entire Chevrolet lineup today.

Redline
The Corvette C7.R will wear a special Redline livery for the race in Shanghai to promote the launch of the special edition in China across Chevrolet’s portfolio.

Redline made its global debut in concept form at the 2015 SEMA Show.

“Chevrolet is strengthening its brand in China by boosting our product lineup and our overall customer and ownership experience. We have begun rolling out our more youthful and sporty Redline edition to help us reach younger customers,” said Lawson.

Press Release:
CORVETTE RACING AT LE MANS: Hard-Fought, Fifth-Place Finish for No. 63 Corvette

LE MANS, France (June 17, 2018) – In 19 years of competing at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Corvette Racing has experienced both disappointment and achievement. The constant in each case, though, is the drive of those on the program to give maximum effort each and every appearance.

That was on display again this year at the 86th running of the French endurance classic. Corvette Racing showed its mettle in the face of adversity as it fought for a ninth class victory at Le Mans. It wasn’t meant to be as Antonio Garcia, Jan Magnussen and Mike Rockenfeller finished fifth in the GTE Pro category with their No. 63 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C7.R.

“All race long, the Corvette Racing C7.R teams never gave up,” said Jim Campbell, Chevrolet U.S. Vice President, Performance Vehicles and Motorsports. “We know all the lows and highs of Le Mans, including our eight class victories here. We race at Le Mans to win, and we also race to learn. That is no different this year. The learnings from Le Mans will help us as we strive to continually improve. We look forward to getting back on track at Watkins Glen.”

Campbell added: “Our race team appreciates the support from Corvette owners and fans from all over world.”

The No. 63 team scraped and clawed for positions the entire 24 hours. Garcia began the race ninth, and the Corvette never fell below that the entire way. Despite lacking overall pace all three drivers, the crew and race engineers worked tirelessly to hover around the top-five before the Corvette settled into fifth place inside the final quarter of the race.

The tale of the No. 64 Corvette began to unfold early. Gavin fell back to 15th at the start but rebounded nicely to 12th before experiencing trouble with the right-front suspension. He handed over to Milner after a double-stint; however the team brought the Corvette back to the pits and into the garage after Milner reported severe handling issues.

The stop resulted in four laps lost, but it didn’t take the fight out of the No. 64 team. From 17th place, the Gavin/Milner/Fässler trio put in solid stints to go along with excellent stops and brake changes from the Corvette crew. Well into the third quarter of the race, however, the No. 64 Corvette began to show signs of an engine overheating condition that ultimately resulted in the car’s retirement from the race.

There’s little time for rest and recovery. Corvette Racing returns to competition in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship with the Sahlen’s Six Hours at The Glen from Watkins Glen International on June 29-July 1.

ANTONIO GARCIA, NO. 63 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: “This is classic Le Mans. You only want to win! This is the kind of race you either win or lose. We fought all the way to the end. The level of competition is so high that you see five, six or seven cars within the final two hours that have a chance to win. The safety car periods didn’t help us, and that makes the race even more full-attack. It makes things very intense and hard. We were unlucky with losing some track position earlier. Once you fall behind and get into slow zones, it’s difficult to compensate to make up time. Plus with new pit stop and stint-length rules, there is very limited strategies. But we can be proud of what we did. Other cars were faster over the race, and all you can do is congratulate them.”

JAN MAGNUSSEN, NO. 63 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: “It was a tough race against tough competition. The team did a fantastic job before as well as during the race. The car felt really good from Sunday morning onwards, but during the night it was tough. It would have been a different race for us, of course, had the safety car situations panned out differently, but that’s how it is and there’s nothing you can do about it.”

MIKE ROCKENFELLER, NO. 63 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: “At the end of the day, starting ninth and finishing in fifth in the toughest GTE Pro class this race has even seen is nothing to be ashamed of. Obviously our goal was different and at certain stages in the race we were really competitive. Unfortunately the safety cars split the GTE group in two and basically decided the race, which is a bummer except of course for the ones that got lucky. It’s part of the race of course, and it’s happened here before. Apart from that it’s been a great experience for me to do my first Le Mans with the Corvette team. I’ve learned a lot and still have a lot to learn about the Corvette. In the end we did our best, made no mistakes, not on the track nor in the pit, so we have nothing to be ashamed of.”

OLIVER GAVIN, NO. 64 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: “It’s disappointing and unfortunate that we’ve had this overheating condition. It was fantastic work by the team and crew to get over a number of hurdles… a suspension problem and some other little issues. But you see how deep they’ll go and how hard they’ll go to get it back on track to let us compete. We will learn from all the things that have happened today to come back stronger and better. Le Mans is a brutally tough race. You sometimes feel that things just don’t go your way. But there are also many times where things have gone our way - eight victories and a fantastic win for Tommy and I in 2015. We were hoping to have another one today but unfortunately not.”

TOMMY MILNER, NO. 64 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: “It’s a frustrating end for us given the time and effort that is put into this one race when it doesn’t go according to plan. I know it’s frustrating for all of us on the team. Having the issue we did early in the race set us back, but the car felt really good during the race and was still able to have some fun with some of the cars around us. Even so, the result isn’t wasn’t we were expecting. Our Corvette was competitive at all stages of the race. We’ll learn, improve and be better next year.”

MARCEL FÄSSLER, NO. 64 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: “It was quite tough for everyone working on the team. The Corvette has shown it is quite reliable and it has shown that for many years. Unfortunately racing can be hard and tough for anyone at time. It shows again how proud everyone can be when you are honored to win this race; it shows how much you have to bring together to be successful. You cannot take things for granted. The race is tough and the competition is high. You can only win if every part comes together 100 percent. This was not our weekend but I know we will come back stronger next year.”

CORVETTE RACING AT LE MANS: Garcia Improves in Final Qualifying Session
No. 63 Corvette to start on fifth row, No. 64 C7.R on seventh row Saturday

LE MANS, France (June 14, 2018) – Corvette Racing will roll off from the fifth and seventh rows of an extremely deep and challenging GTE Pro field when the green flag flies for the start of the 86th running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans on Saturday. Already with eight victories and 19 consecutive event starts to its credit, the team hopes it can add to its record come Sunday afternoon.

Two final qualifying sessions Thursday helped set the 60-car field, which features 17 production-based entries in the GTE Pro category. Antonio Garcia improved his time from Wednesday’s lone session by a half-second Thursday in the No. 63 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C7.R.

A three-time Le Mans winner, Garcia set his best time of the week – 3:50.242 (xx mph) – in the opening half of the final qualifying session Thursday. It moved the No. 63 Corvette, which Garcia will drive with Jan Magnussen and Mike Rockenfeller, from 11th to ninth on the GTE Pro grid.

The No. 64 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C7.R of Oliver Gavin, Tommy Milner and Marcel Fässler will start 14tth in class, thanks to Milner’s time Wednesday of 3:50.952 (131.979 mph).

Thursday’s first qualifying session featured two red-flag periods – including one that brought an early end to the period – and multiple yellow-flagged zones. The two Corvettes only recorded two laps at full speed during the 90 minutes, and even those saw traffic impeded both entries.

The second session was cleaner with a number of cars able to better their times. Rain fell inside the final hour, however, which put further improvements out of reach. Even after the prime window closed for fast laps, Corvette Racing engineers and crew worked toward fine-tuning the race setup package for Saturday and Sunday in hopes of contending for a ninth victory.

The 24 Hours of Le Mans will air live on the Velocity Channel and MotorTrend On-Demand with coverage of the Test Day, practice/qualifying and the race on RadioLeMans.com.

ANTONIO GARCIA, NO. 63 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: “We continued to work according to the plan we’ve worked with since yesterday. It’s a shame though that we had so many yellows and slow zones, as well as two red flags in the second qualifying session; each time it stopped our rhythm. We got extra time for the third qualifying session, but that was then cut short by the rain. We made some progress with the car and gathered loads of data. With all we collected, we are confident we can make the right decision for Saturday. So I’m kind of happy with where we are. The only downside was that Rocky (Mike Rockenfeller) didn’t get as much seat time as we would have liked… again because of all the yellows and then the rain. We’ll see what happens Saturday and Sunday. It will be a long and tough race.”

PRESS RELEASE:
CORVETTE RACING AT LE MANS: Date with Destiny Dawns
Ninth Le Mans class win would add another highlight in 20th season

DETROIT (June 8, 2018) – With a successful Test Day in the rear-view mirror, it’s time for Corvette Racing to turn its focus toward the focal part of its season – the 86th running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It’s the 19th consecutive appearance for the team at the French endurance classic… and undoubtedly its biggest challenge.

The two Chevrolet Corvette C7.Rs, fresh off eight hours of testing Sunday, are part of a 17-car field in the GTE Pro category. A victory would be the ninth for the program at Le Mans and quite possibly the most impressive.

Corvette Racing was 10th and 11th in class on the Test Day with Oliver Gavin quickest in the No. 64 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C7.R. He wasn’t too far ahead of Antonio Garcia in the No. 63 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Corvette; the two cars were separated by just 0.038 seconds around the 8.47-mile circuit.

Incredible competition is nothing new to Corvette Racing, which has swept the last two IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship titles in the GT Le Mans (GTLM) class for manufacturers, drivers and teams. Those championships have come against many of the same marques and entries that the team will face at Le Mans.

Already this year, Corvette Racing has tasted success with a class victory on the streets of Long Beach for Gavin and Tommy Milner. They will team with Marcel Fässler in the No. 64 Corvette while Garcia, Jan Magnussen and Mike Rockenfeller – who returns to Le Mans after last appearing in 2012 – are together in the No. 63 Corvette.

Garcia and Magnussen are coming off a hard-fought, third-place finish in the team’s most recent IMSA event at Mid-Ohio in May. The two Corvettes already have one 24-hour race under the belts with a third- and fourth-place finish in January’s Rolex 24 At Daytona to open the season.

To illustrate the closeness in GTLM, all four Corvette drivers are tied in points and only 10 markers from first place. Chevrolet is third among manufacturers but only three points out of first.

Turning toward Le Mans, the team’s history and success there is well-documented: the eight victories in 19 appearances is a level of success that no active program in the last two decades can match. Corvette Racing has won in three generations of Corvette race car – C5-R, C6.R (in two categories) and C7.R.

Each of the six Corvette Racing drivers own exemplary records at Le Mans:

Antonio Garcia: Three victories in 12 appearances – 2008, 2009 and 2011; runner-up in 2014; third place in 2017
Jan Magnussen: Three victories in 19 appearances – 2004-06; runner-up in 2003, 2007, 2008 and 2014; third place in 2017
Mike Rockenfeller: Two victories in eight appearances – 2005 and 2010; third place in 2012
Oliver Gavin: Five victories in 17 appearances – 2002, 2004-06, 2015; runner-up in 2003; third place in 2001 and 2008
Tommy Milner: Two victories in nine appearances – 2011 and 2015
Marcel Fässler: Three victories in 12 appearances – 2011-12 and 2014

The 24 Hours of Le Mans will air live on the Velocity Channel and MotorTrend On-Demand with coverage of the Test Day, practice/qualifying and the race on RadioLeMans.com.

ANTONIO GARCIA, NO. 63 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: “This race will be even more difficult this year with more brands and new cars in our category. In the end, Le Mans is long enough to work your way back if you lack just a little pace. If that’s minimal, then we can still challenge. Lacking more than that at Le Mans can be very, very painful because of the safety car rules and length of the lap. You can run your own race, but as we saw last year you really have to race your competition. Between us, the Aston Martin and one of the Fords, we all went throughout the race without a mistake in the pits or on the racetrack. With more cars than last year, it makes the odds even higher that there will be more running a trouble-free race this year. That puts a bit more pressure in the way that if you make a mistake, not just one car is going to pass you; it will be a few. For sure you need to raise your game. Every little mistake is going to cost a little bit more.”

JAN MAGNUSSEN, NO. 63 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: “When you have an older car like we have with the Corvette C7.R, all of the big stuff has been developed. Now it’s about fine-tuning what we have. When we were testing, there were different things we are able to try because we know the car so well. You tend to dig a lot deeper to find alternative setups that we may be able to run in certain situations. It also will be good to have Rocky back with us. There definitely is an advantage to having the same drivers from Daytona and Sebring to race at Le Mans. We get to know each other a lot better, and a lot more time in the car is never a bad thing. It won’t be as new to him having that experience already this year.”

MIKE ROCKENFELLER, NO. 63 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: “I’m very excited to go back to Le Mans. It has been awhile. There are some things in life that you take a little bit for granted, and when you don’t have it you realize how much you miss it. So I’m very proud to come back – and to come back with Corvette Racing. This will be the toughest competition I have faced at Le Mans with the number of entries and number of them who could win the race. In years past, it has been six or seven when I was in prototypes. Now it’s 17! For me – and for every expert and fan of Le Mans – the proper race and the real fight will be in GTE Pro. So it is great to be in there. I really prefer to be in that situation.”

OLIVER GAVIN, NO. 64 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: “Racing in IMSA has prepared us really well for going to Le Mans. The level of competition in North America is exceptionally high, and I’m confident that any of the teams from IMSA would be able to compete at the front with any of the WEC teams; there’s no real difference in the level of racing in WEC versus our GT Le Mans class. It’s the case at Le Mans that there are more cars than ever before in our GTE Pro category. The bar is just a little bit higher now, which is crazy to say because that has been the case the last several years. But this year is another level. It’s an all-manufacturer class with all pro drivers. There are no weak links. Each team will bring their best game and best strategy for the event. There will be nowhere to hide. Out of 17 cars in our class, there will be six to eight that have very good races. And of those, there will be three or four that have perfect races and will be there on the lead lap going into the last hour. I just hope at least one of our cars are in that mix and able to fight for that victory.”

TOMMY MILNER, NO. 64 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: “It seems like every year the competition in our class gets stronger. Over the years, we’ve seen that we’ve raced against some of the same teams, the same drivers and same crews over again. In our case, that experience is invaluable. We go into the race a little unsure of what to expect but each year I’ve felt like the challenge of being successful at Le Mans becomes more and more difficult as teams get more experience, new cars come out and things like that. Perhaps we adjust our own expectations. For sure it feels better when you look on the timing screen after a not so good session and you’re seventh or eighth. This year if you have a bad session, it’ll be easy to see yourself 15th, 16th or 17th. It will be a mental challenge not to get worked up. If the pace is not too bad and you’re a half-second or two seconds down the order a bit, you can’t get too flustered. That will be one of the bigger changes from years past. But I’m excited thinking about the race and the competition we’ll face. We will fight with someone on track at pretty much every part of the race.”

MARCEL FÄSSLER, NO. 64 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: “For me, winning Le Mans this year would be amazing. I’ve been lucky to win overall but I really want to win in this classification. On paper, the challenge of our competitors will be very high. Seventeen cars is a pretty big category, and they are all-manufacturer teams. Everyone will be going for a win. If you really are the one which wins, you will have a great deal of satisfaction. That makes it super hard for everyone, but the satisfaction would be enormous if we are the ones.”

DOUG FEHAN, CORVETTE RACING PROGRAM MANAGER: “The Test Day illustrated what we already knew to be true: this year’s GTE Pro race will be the most difficult one in Corvette Racing history. Since we ended the testing session, our engineering team in Le Mans and in America have been analyzing our performance to see where we can make gains and what adjustments the crew can make to both Corvettes. It’s fair to say that the work between the test day and the first practice session is just as important as any throughout the year. We may not know until we hit the track again where we stack up, but no team will give a greater effort than Corvette Racing.”

CORVETTE RACING AT LE MANS: Consistent Corvettes Complete Testing Program
Gavin sets team’s pace in No. 64 Corvette C7.R w/ No. 63 entry not far off

LE MANS, France (June 3, 2018) – Corvette Racing ran through its scheduled testing items Sunday during eight hours of track time ahead of the 24 Hours of Le Mans as the team looks toward what it hopes is a ninth class victory in the annual French endurance race. At the end of testing, just 0.038 seconds separated both the bright yellow Chevrolet Corvette C7.Rs around the 8.47-mile Circuit de la Sarthe.

Oliver Gavin was the quickest Corvette Racing driver during the annual Le Mans Test Day in the No. 64 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C7.R with a lap of 3:54.179 (130.177 mph) lap. Driving with Tommy Milner and Marcel Fässler, Gavin set his best lap in the final hour of the test, which was run in dry conditions, although weather did threaten throughout the final four hours.

The lap was good enough for 10th place in the 17-car field of GTE Pro entries, which features cars from five manufacturers. It came after an extended stop to repair a suspension component on the No. 64 Corvette while Milner was at the wheel. The team pulled both Corvettes into the garage to inspect and make the necessary fixes to get both cars back out on circuit inside the final hour.

Antonio Garcia was the fastest driver with a 3:54.217 (130.115 mph) in the No. 63 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C7.R that he shared with Jan Magnussen. Mike Rockenfeller, who missed the Test Day due to a prior racing commitment, will join the duo for race-week activities. Garcia’s time slotted him just behind Gavin in 11th place.

With eight victories in 18 previous Le Mans starts, Corvette Racing has long been GT racing’s prominent program in endurance racing. That is backed up by eight additional runner-up finishes in the event. All totaled, Corvette Racing has 107 victories around the world and swept the last two Manufacturer, Driver and Team championships in the GT Le Mans (GTLM) category of the IMSA WeatherTech Championship. Gavin and Milner won earlier this year at Long Beach for the team’s first victory of 2018.

Corvette Racing returns to the Le Mans circuit for opening practice at 4 p.m. CET/10 a.m. ET on Wednesday, June 13. The 24 Hours of Le Mans will air live on the Velocity Channel and MotorTrend On-Demand with coverage of all on-track sessions available on RadioLeMans.com.

ANTONIO GARCIA, NO. 63 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: "It was a good day… very useful. We managed to get quite a bit done. The biggest thing is trying to catch up with the European-spec Michelin tires, which are quite a bit different from those we run in the U.S. We just ran our program and got all the data we needed, so now we look to finding a better package for next week."

JAN MAGNUSSEN, NO. 63 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: "We got a lot of the things done that were on our list, working on the car's balance. It was difficult to find a clear lap, but I'm very happy with where we are now. A lot of work has been centered around the European Michelins and figuring them out, but all in all it's been a very good test."

OLIVER GAVIN, NO. 64 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: "This morning the track was very dirty as it always is in this test, but the car was okay straight away. We worked through a number of changes while the track slowly improved, as did our lap times. We're mid-field in terms of pace but we stuck to our plan. We had a suspension problem which cost a chunk of time this afternoon, which means I didn't drive at all after lunch, bar four laps near the end of the day. It's a little frustrating of course that I haven't been able to do as many laps as I would have wanted to, but the most important thing is that all three of us set similar lap times and have the same feedback for the engineers. Now we have to debrief and prepare for race week."

TOMMY MILNER, NO. 64 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: "It's always great to be back at Le Mans; there's just no place like it in the world. It's always fun to go down the Mulsanne Straight again for the first time! It's been a good test for us. We had one problem with a part failure, but we didn't do any substantial damage to the car. We're always looking for ways to make the car go faster, so maybe we stepped outside the boundary a bit. The guys will look at it and find out what happened."

MARCEL FÄSSLER, NO. 64 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: "It was quite a good day as we went through some test points which were important to us. It was not our target to go for the ultimate lap time; instead we concentrated on sorting out things which will be important for our race pace. Overall I think it was a good day."

DOUG FEHAN, CORVETTE RACING PROGRAM MANAGER: "The brightest spot is we dodged inclement weather. The team worked diligently to go through a myriad of set-up options as well as get to grips with the new Michelin compounds. Everybody is pleased with the progress we've made. We'll spend the next week digesting that information and developing a new plan of attack for the week after. Judging by the times we saw today, it looks like it's going to be a very close competition."

It’s especially true for Corvette Racing and its following, with the world’s premier GT racing program back for the 19th consecutive year. Corvette Racing’s record at Le Mans is impressive, to say the least…

1: As in one team, one manufacturer and one model of car for 20 years: Corvette Racing, Chevrolet and the Chevrolet Corvette.

Press Release:
CORVETTE RACING AT LE MANS: Dress Rehearsal Up First with Annual Test Day
Pair of Corvettes set for eight hours of running ahead of 19th straight Le Mans appearance

Program looking toward ninth class victory at Le Mans
Team coming off third-place finish in GTE Pro in 2017
Focal point of Corvette Racing’s 20th season

DETROIT (May 30, 2018) – Corvette Racing has made its annual venture across the Atlantic to Le Mans, France – for the 19th consecutive year – ahead of this year’s running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. First up: Sunday’s Test Day at the 8.47-mile Circuit de la Sarthe for eight hours of track time ahead of the French endurance classic.

It is the only time that Corvette Racing – and the other 59 teams entered for Le Mans – will get on the track ahead of raceweek from June 13-17. It may seem like plenty of time to run through a test program, but eight hours goes by quickly on such a long track, not to mention cycling through each of the drivers during the day.

The Corvette Racing team has been diligent in its preparation for this year’s race after finishing third in the GTE Pro category in 2017. It spent two days at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin earlier this month to fine-tune and analyze setup options, as well as continue testing its race-specific Michelin tire. The spec and tire options for Le Mans – as well as the FIA World Endurance Championship – differ from what the team runs in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

For this year’s race, Corvette Racing is relying on a group of six experienced drivers to battle in a 17-car GTE Pro field that is stacked with the world’s best production-based teams and manufacturers. Antonio Garcia, Jan Magnussen and Mike Rockenfeller will team in the No. 63 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C7.R with Oliver Gavin, Tommy Milner and Marcel Fässler partnering in the No. 64 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette. Five of the six drivers will be present for the Test Day with Rockenfeller having a prior commitment that will prevent his participation.

Each of the six Corvette Racing drivers own exemplary records at Le Mans:

Antonio Garcia: Three victories in 12 appearances – 2008, 2009 and 2011; runner-up in 2014; third place in 2017
Jan Magnussen: Four victories in 19 appearances – 2004-06, 2009; runner-up in 2003, 2007, 2008 and 2014; third place in 2017
Mike Rockenfeller: Two victories in eight appearances – 2005 and 2010; third place in 2012
Oliver Gavin: Five victories in 17 appearances – 2002, 2004-06, 2015; runner-up in 2003; third place in 2001 and 2008
Tommy Milner: Two victories in nine appearances – 2011 and 2015
Marcel Fässler: Three victories in 12 appearances – 2011-12 and 2014

63 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: “We’ve had a good amount of time on the Michelin tire that we will use at Le Mans; it’s a different one that what we use in IMSA. So I think we are as prepared as we can be. We know what to expect at Le Mans, but like always we won’t know what we really have until we get on track for the Test Day. We will use that to fine-tune things and really get the last bit of things out of the car. I feel pretty good about where we are. Like every year, no one knows how we will stack up against the competition. We’ve done everything we can up to know, so we’ll see if that’s enough.”

OLIVER GAVIN, NO. 64 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: “We got some decent driving in at Road America for our test, and at the end of things we got some good data and preparation ahead of Le Mans. You’d always like to do more because Le Mans is the one that everyone in our group puts a huge amount of emphasis on. We want to win every race we enter, but this one has a little something extra to it. You are operating at 100 percent the whole way – the drivers, the engineers, the crew, the guys setting the tire pressures, the fuelers… it’s so many people within the whole of the team that make all of this work. Everyone has to bring their A-game. Otherwise, we don’t win. There’s only one outcome that everyone wants from Le Mans: being on the top step of the podium. Anything else doesn’t really matter.”

TOMMY MILNER, NO. 64 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: “This is our fifth year with the Corvette C7.R at Le Mans. Each year through testing and competition, the team analyzes everything they can and have a laundry list of items that we’d like to improve on for future years. Comparing how the car felt this year in testing to what we had in years past, I think we’ve made some big gains in the package as a whole. It seems like a nicer car to drive, so that’s a big positive. It’s not exactly a one-to-one transfer from testing to the race due to differing temperatures and track conditions. Building off what we learned in previous years, we feel like we’ve made a good step this year. Hopefully that transfers well to the race.”

MARCEL FÄSSLER, NO. 64 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: “I’m happy to be back in the Corvette at Le Mans with Olly and Tommy. Hopefully the timing is right for us to challenge for the win to the end. My personal goal is to win Le Mans in this class. I was really close in 2009 with the team, and last year we had the tools to do so. We will be very prepared. We have the car, the team, the drivers, the mechanics, the engineers… everything that is needed to win Le Mans.”

DOUG FEHAN, CORVETTE RACING PROGRAM MANAGER: “We are back at Le Mans for the 19th consecutive year, and I can confidently say this is the single greatest challenge Corvette Racing will face in all our years coming here. All it takes is one look at the GTE Pro entry to see why. You have multiple cars from the best teams and manufacturers in GT racing, which is a tremendous testament to the importance of this race and our category. This is where it’s at! From a competition standpoint, we have spent a lot of time and laps in testing finding every possible area where we can extract tenths and hundredths of a second. That is how close this race stands to be and how much we want to stand on top of the podium for the ninth time.”

Press Release:

CORVETTE RACING AT MID-OHIO: Garcia, Magnussen Back on the Podium
Hard-fought third place for No. 3 Corvette in return to Mid-Ohio

LEXINGTON, Ohio (May 6, 2018) – Jan Magnussen and Antonio Garcia earned a podium finish Sunday in Corvette Racing’s return to Mid-Ohio Sports Car in the Acura Sports Car Challenge at Mid-Ohio. The duo piloted their No. 3 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C7.R to a third-place finish in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship’s GT Le Mans (GTLM) class.

The result vaulted Garcia and Magnussen into a fourth-place tie for the GTLM Driver Championship with Corvette teammates Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner. They placed eighth in GTLM on Sunday in the No. 4 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C7.R as the team returned to Mid-Ohio for the first time since 2012.

Chevrolet is third in GTLM Manufacturer points – three points out of first place – as Corvette Racing takes a break from IMSA competition to travel to the 24 Hours of Le Mans for the 19th consecutive season.

The Garcia/Magnussen duo began fifth, but Garcia gained a spot on the opening lap. The close level of competition and constant traffic around Mid-Ohio meant the No. 3 Corvette held its position for the middle of the race.

It wasn’t easy, especially for Magnussen who was part of a three-way fight for third place in class inside the final 40 minutes. He hung tough and made his move going into the first corner with 27 minutes left to move into podium position.

Milner and Gavin started eighth, but the No. 4 Corvette moved up through the field with a strong start from Milner. He drove the opening hour before handing off to Gavin. The No. 4 squad had some of the worst luck with traffic and opted to pit with 70 minutes left in hopes of catching a caution period to gain track position. Unfortunately the race went green for the entire two hours and 40 minutes. Gavin eventually had to take a late splash of fuel two laps from the end.

Corvette Racing’s next event is the 24 Hours of Le Mans on June 16-17. The team has won eight times in the French enduro.

ANTONIO GARCIA, NO. 3 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R – FINISHED THIRD IN GTLM: “That was hard to watch, because I really don’t like to be watching! I prefer to be in the car. But Jan did a really, really, really good job. The whole race went according to plan. Fifth wasn’t good enough to be up front and fight for the win, but we started to make up positions like we always do. We started to see that strategy was a key thing here. We kind of managed to fight the Fords and we lost some time fighting them on everything. That is what probably allowed the 25 BMW to go crazy on strategy and that is when they went ahead of us. We learned from that, too. We are usually the ones doing crazy strategies like they did. It paid off for them. When you are in the lead pack, you need to do what we did. We got some good points over our competitors. I’m happy on how everything worked against the actual pace we had today. Porsche really deserved that win.  Next time I will be a little bit faster in qualifying so we can fight for the win.”

JAN MAGNUSSEN, NO. 3 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R – FINISHED THIRD IN GTLM: “For how things developed, this is not a bad result. Obviously we would like to have had the pace of the Porsche and BMW today but we kind of got in the middle of them, so only one of each got ahead. It was a good race… good strategy and good pit stops from the crew as usual. We had a good race car. It was all-around fun. I had really a fun battle with Joey (Hand). We got a little racey but it was good fun. Hopefully we get to have more good racing like that throughout the year. I really enjoyed it.“

OLIVER GAVIN, NO. 4 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R – FINISHED EIGHTH IN GTLM: “We had to gamble a bit today. We were chasing a chassis imbalance all weekend, and we tried something in the warmup. But things just didn’t go our way with the start and traffic. Tommy really got balked in a couple spots, and it seemed like that happened more often than not to stop our progress. Then we had to come in with two laps left for a splash of fuel. It was that sort of day. It seemed like we had similar pace to everyone else a lot of the time but there wasn’t enough pace to get by anyone. It’s a bit of a frustrating day but we’ll move on and learn from this for the big one - Le Mans.”

TOMMY MILNER, NO. 4 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R – FINISHED EIGHTH IN GTLM: “I was pretty happy with that first stint. We’re staying in touch with the cars ahead of us, depending on traffic. Maybe we were a little off but we were close enough where we could race of the most part. It’s definitely tough at Mid-Ohio. There aren’t a lot of tracks where you have a car that you’ve felt like you’ve worked on all weekend, and this is one of those. The racing was good and fun. It was chaotic at times with passing GTD cars and being passed by P cars. We struggled a little bit with balance, but I don’t think we’re alone on that. I didn’t seen anyone out there who was super happy with their cars.”

Press Release:
CORVETTE RACING AT MID-OHIO: Ready to Charge… Rain or Shine
Two Chevrolet Corvettes to start from third and fourth rows

LEXINGTON, Ohio (May 5, 2018) – With an eye toward a questionable raceday forecast, Corvette Racing will head into the Acura Sports Car Challenge at Mid-Ohio prepared for both a dry and wet race. The two Chevrolet Corvette C7.Rs will start from the third and fourth rows of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship’s GT Le Mans (GTLM) field.

The team’s task of winning for the ninth time at Mid-Ohio is not an impossible one. Corvette Racing won in its last appearance at the 2.25-mile, 13-turn circuit in 2012 with Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner coming from sixth place to do it.

Saturday, Antonio Garcia qualified fifth in the No. 3 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C7.R at 1:18.114 (104.063 mph) while Milner wasn’t far off at 1:18.452 (103.614 mph) in the No. 4 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Corvette. Garcia will drive with Jan Magnussen, and Milner is back at Mid-Ohio with Gavin.

While the qualifying positions aren’t ideal, there is the knowledge that Corvette Racing is confident in both its dry- and wet-weather setups. Friday’s two practice sessions were run in mostly rainy – and windy – conditions while Saturday stayed dry for final practice and qualifying.

Sunday’s forecast calls for dry conditions early with an increasing likelihood of rain in the afternoon… just as the two-hour, 40-minute race will enter its closing stages.

A victory would be the 108th for the Corvette Racing program and its 100th in North America.

Corvette Racing is in the midst of its 20th season of global competition. Mid-Ohio is one of 21 tracks where the team has claimed at least one victory.

The Acura Sports Car Challenge at Mid-Ohio will air live at 1 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 2 and the FOX Sports Go app. Streaming in-car footage along with live audio coverage of practice, qualifying and the race from IMSA Radio is available on IMSA.com.

ANTONIO GARCIA, NO. 3 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R – QUALIFIED FIFTH IN GTLM: “I did so many laps exactly the same that it was a bit annoying. It felt like no matter what I tried, the lap time was the same. So far the weekend has been reasonable. We have been reacting to the track a little bit, and we don’t know how it will develop like we do at other tracks where we have been often. I’m not happy with the result but I think we are close enough to be competitive tomorrow.
(Rain chances) “That always seems to be a question mark about this track: when it will rain, how hard it will rain and for how long. We cannot do anything about that except react to it and be in the right spot.”

TOMMY MILNER, NO. 4 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R – QUALIFIED EIGHTH IN GTLM: “A lot of people, like us, haven't been here in awhile. We seem to have a bit of a struggle with car balance. We are throwing big changes at it to try and improve. We made another big jump there in qualifying but obviously not enough. We’ll keep working at it. I feel like we are sort of headed in the right direction, so that is good. We haven't lost ourselves yet… we are making steady progress. Our position isn’t ideal but the pace isn't that far off, knowing how the car felt in qualifying. It felt to me like there should and could be more performance in the car. We just need to find it and unlock it."

Press Release:  CORVETTE RACING AT MID-OHIO: Back to Another Famed Circuit
Team’s first event at Mid-Ohio since 2012

Corvette Racing with eight class victories at Mid-Ohio
Gavin, Milner winners at Corvette Racing’s last Mid-Ohio visit
Corvette Racing coming off victory No. 107 in program history

DETROIT (May 1, 2018) – Corvette Racing returns to one of its most successful venues this weekend when it visits Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for the fourth round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. It’s the first time at the historic track for the program since 2012 with Corvette Racing looking for victory No. 108 – and 100th in North American competition.

Mid-Ohio, site of Sunday’s Acura Sports Car Challenge, has seen years of Corvette Racing dominance since the team’s first trip there in 2001. With eight class victories – including seven straight from 2001 and 2008 (the team didn’t race there in 2003) – no team in the IMSA paddock can match Corvette Racing’s level of success at the circuit.

Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner were victorious in the 2012 Mid-Ohio race for the American Le Mans Series, and the duo is coming off a second straight Long Beach victory three weeks ago in their No. 4 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C7.R. The result vaulted them to second in the GT Le Mans (GTLM) Driver’s Championship, the same spot where Chevrolet sits in Manufacturer points.

Three Mid-Ohio victories are part of Gavin’s collection of 50 victories with Corvette Racing to lead the program all-time. Third in that group is Jan Magnussen, who partners with Antonio Garcia in the No. 3 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C7.R. Magnussen has 35 victories with Corvette Racing and was the 2008 ALMS GT1 Mid-Ohio winner with the team.

3 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: “Mid-Ohio is completely different racetrack than we have competed on so far this year. I’ve had good races there, but who knows how things will go now that it is a different time of the year. In the past we’ve had very hot races there and some thunderstorms. But this time of year will be very different. I do like the venue, and the last time I was there was my first year as a full-time Corvette Racing driver. As a team, we won the last time we were there. Experience is a good point for us, and have more than most at Mid-Ohio. Let’s see what how we can use that.”

JAN MAGNUSSEN, NO. 3 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: “I’m really looking forward to getting back to Mid-Ohio. For a long time I was upset that we didn’t race there. It’s a great, historical track with some great experiences – old-school with a great layout. The flow is really great but it’s a challenge in other places where if you really go for it. When you’re putting everything on the line, it can make a huge difference how you run around there. The trick is to not go over the line. It has great flow and some decent undulation. Where you place the car suddenly matters a lot because it will go light eventually as you go over the crests and ridges. It’ll be great going back there.”

OLIVER GAVIN, NO. 4 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: “The last time Tommy and I were at Mid-Ohio, we won there. So we’re looking forward to going back. I’ve always enjoyed the circuit. There are spots on it that are frustrating because there isn’t a lot of grip. You feel like you’re aiming from the grippy patches to the grippy patches on certain parts of the track. It lends itself pretty well to multi-class racing, and they’ve been exciting in the past. Mid-Ohio has generally been quite a good place for me. I’ve got good memories there and are pleased we’re going back there as a series. Hopefully we can have a good weekend there.”

TOMMY MILNER, NO. 4 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: “I’m excited to go back to Mid-Ohio. It’s sort of like experiencing a new track for the first time. We’ve had a long history of success there. The last time we were there, Oliver and I won in ALMS GT so we’re eager to replicate that. It’ll be good for the fans to have this level of sports car racing back at the track. Certainly our cars have moved on a bit since we were last there six years ago. It will be interesting to see how our GTLM cars will attack the circuit. It’s always been a track for high levels of downforce. There’s a lot of flow to the racetrack, so based on the improvements we’ve seen in the cars and our Michelin tires, it’ll be fun to see how fast the track is for us. It seems that it can be difficult to pass in some places with a close succession of corners. Finding some place to go a bit quicker than our competitors and getting around is going to be difficult. It’s an incredibly rewarding track when you have a good car and everything is working right.”

DOUG FEHAN, CORVETTE RACING PROGRAM MANAGER: “Our return to Mid-Ohio couldn’t come soon enough. This is a great, classic American track that really fits really well with the natural topography. It also is the closest track on our schedule to Detroit, and it felt like home for us with eight Corvette Racing wins in the ALMS era. We’ve won here with the C5-R and the C6.R – where we also debuted the GT2 version in 2009 – and we’d like nothing more than to put the C7.R in Victory Circle in its first race here. It won’t be easy as it never is in our category, but we like our combination of handling, braking ability and performance – along with a dose of good fortune – to put us in good position to contend come Sunday.”

CORVETTE RACING AT MID-OHIO: By the Numbers

DETROIT (April 30, 2018) – It’s been awhile, but Corvette Racing is finally heading back to Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

The return is a fitting one for the team in the midst of its 20th season of competition. No team in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship has the level of history and success at Mid-Ohio than the Corvette Racing program. With the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Showdown looming, here are a couple of facts and tidbits to peruse…

1: As in one team, one manufacturer and one model of car for 20 years: Corvette Racing, Chevrolet and the Chevrolet Corvette.
3: Class victories at Mid-Ohio for Oliver Gavin, the most among Corvette Racing drivers. He and Tommy Milner won in 2012 – the team’s last visit to the track.
5: Class victories at Mid-Ohio for former Corvette Racing pilot Johnny O’Connell, the most among team drivers.
6: Years between Mid-Ohio events for Corvette Racing.
7: Consecutive victories at Mid-Ohio for Corvette Racing between 2001 and 2008; the team didn’t race there in 2003 as it was not part of the American Le Mans Series schedule.
8: Class victories at Corvette Racing at Mid-Ohio – more than any entrant in IMSA at the circuit.
8: As in Chevrolet’s small-block V8. More than 100 million units have been sold worldwide and is the most successful engine in American motorsports.
9: Number of drivers who have competed at Mid-Ohio for Corvette Racing – Olivier Beretta, Kelly Collins, Antonio Garcia, Oliver Gavin, Jan Magnussen, Johnny O’Connell, Andy Pilgrim and Tommy Milner.
12: Manufacturer Championships for Chevrolet and Corvette Racing since 2001.
16: Number of GTLM wins for Corvette Racing since the start of 2014. That is the most of any manufacturer and team in the category.
16: Number of victories for Corvette Racing drivers at Mid-Ohio.
21: Tracks at which Corvette Racing has won races – Baltimore, COTA, Canadian Tire Motorsport Park/Mosport, Daytona, Detroit, Houston, Laguna Seca, Le Mans, Lime Rock, Long Beach, Miami, Mid-Ohio, Portland, Road America, Road Atlanta, Sebring, Sonoma, St. Petersburg, Texas, Trois Rivieres and Utah.
107: Victories worldwide for Corvette Racing – 99 in North America and eight at Le Mans.
201: Event starts by Corvette Racing since 1999.
5,282.31 Number of racing miles completed by Corvette Racing in its 11 previous appearances at Mid-Ohio. That represents 2,347 laps.
274,113.88: Total number of racing miles completed by Corvette Racing since its inception. To put that in perspective Apollo 13 – the longest manned spaceflight in history – covered “just” 248,655 miles.

CORVETTE RACING AT LE MANS: Iconic Team Going for Ninth Class Win
Familiar entries and lineup for program’s 19th straight appearance

Rockenfeller, Fässler join full-season roster at Le Mans
Corvette Racing an eight-time winner in French enduro
Biggest race of Corvette Racing’s 20th season

DETROIT (April 18, 2018) – Corvette Racing will look to write another chapter in its history book at the 24 Hours of Le Mans this year as the team today confirmed its GTE Pro entries into the annual French endurance classic. The French countryside will echo with the sound of the familiar Chevrolet engines in both the team’s Corvette C7.Rs as Corvette Racing tackles Le Mans for the 19th consecutive season in search of a ninth victory.

The lineup for Corvette Racing will look familiar those that followed the team in the first two events of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. Antonio Garcia, Jan Magnussen and Mike Rockenfeller will team in the No. 63 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C7.R while Oliver Gavin, Tommy Milner and Marcel Fässler share the No. 64 Corvette. The rosters for each car were the same at the Rolex 24 At Daytona and the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring to start the IMSA season.

“Corvette Racing is honored to compete for the 19th consecutive year at the 24 Hours of Le Mans,” said Mark Kent, Chevrolet Director of Motorsports Competition. “A consistent lineup of drivers between our IMSA campaign and Le Mans gives us the best chance for our ninth victory. All six have multiple Le Mans victories. That along with the experience of the Corvette Racing crew and engineering team are what we believe to be the optimum combination of talent to win again at Le Mans.”

Gavin and Milner are coming off the team’s first victory of 2018 at Long Beach.

CORVETTE RACING AT LONG BEACH: Gavin, Milner Go Back-to-Back!
Seventh victory for Corvette Racing, Team Chevy in IMSA at Long Beach

50th victory for Oliver Gavin with Corvette Racing
Garcia, Magnussen battle back to finish fourth in GTLM
107th all-time class victory for Corvette Racing

LONG BEACH, Calif. (April 14, 2018) – Corvette Racing’s Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner raced their way to back-to-back victories in southern California by claiming the Bubba Burger Sports Car Grand Prix of Long Beach for the second year in a row. The duo won by 2.157 seconds in their No. 4 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C7.R.

It was the 107th class victory all-time for Corvette Racing and the first of its 20th season of competition. The team also won for the 16th time in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship’s GT Le Mans (GTLM) class.

“This team just does not give up,” said Jim Campbell, Chevrolet U.S. Vice President, Performance Vehicles and Motorsports. “ While we didn’t have the ideal starting position, Olly and Tommy took advantage of every opportunity on track and the crew executed in the pits. Congratulations to the No. 4 Corvette team for back-to-back wins at Long Beach.”

Gavin also won for the 50th time with Corvette Racing – the most of any driver in program history. He now has five victories at Long Beach… three of them with Milner.

Antonio Garcia and Jan Magnussen finished fourth in the No. 3 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C7.R in what ended up being a comeback drive for Garcia. A mechanical issue dropped him from second to eighth on a restart with 52 minutes left.

Gavin started the race fifth and drove the first 40 minutes before handing off to Milner during a full-course caution period. The No. 4 Corvette crew leap-frogged the No. 66 Ford in the pitlane, and Milner joined third among GTLM cars that stopped during the yellow.

The first car in class out of the pitlane was the No. 3 Corvette, which gained two spots on the stop. Magnussen started fourth and moved to third on the opening lap. Things looked to be going the way of the No. 3 Corvette until it didn’t go in gear on the restart. Once Garcia got under way, he went from eighth to fourth in the span of 36 minutes. He ended less than two seconds from a podium position.

Meanwhile, Milner went from third to second with 37 minutes left and took the lead for good 15 minutes later. It was a much more conventional victory than a year ago when he and Gavin won after the track became blocked in the final corner, and he got around the stuck No. 3 Corvette.

Corvette Racing’s next event is May 4-6 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

OLIVER GAVIN, NO. 4 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R – GTLM RACE-WINNER: "Amazing the way that all came around.  Yes we had a little bit of luck, but Tommy had to drive brilliantly at the end there and stay out of trouble. There were a number of incidents there. Man, we could have gotten taken out. We could have gotten in the wall. Tommy just navigated.  We had a great pit stop. The guys did an amazing job at the stop. We jumped a number of people and put us in position there we we could challenge for that victory. And we got it! That is our first win in season No. 20 for Corvette Racing. And it is my 50th victory with the team. That is pretty amazing. I am just thrilled."

TOMMY MILNER, NO. 4 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R – GTLM RACE-WINNER: "There is something about Long Beach. Something about having magic here. I don't know what it is. We had it today. We had it last year. Whatever it is, I want to keep it. Really tough race today. The track was really, really tough with the marbles off-line. Super difficult. I almost threw it away on the last corner, last lap. Really, really tough conditions. But, Corvette was great. Michelins were great. They were super strong right to the end. Just had that little bit of magic, little bit of luck and that's all we needed today!"

ANTONIO GARCIA, NO. 3 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R – FOURTH IN GTLM: “Another year and it happened again at the Hairpin. It’s a shame. We were having a little bit of a difficult week because we weren’t as strong as we have been in the past. But you never know here. Jan did a great job in qualifying and in his stint. The pit stop was incredible to get us out first. The only car in front of us didn’t pit so I thought the race was done. But things happen. I happened to Jan on the recon lap, and for no reason it happened again when I went back to power on the restart. You feel very helpless… I hit every button inside the car, and it took forever to get back in gear. From that point, I knew the race was gone but I had to carry on. Things were super slippery with a lot of marbles and pickup. I tried to pressure people and they kept making mistakes. We made up some good positions. It was shame I couldn’t get on the podium because I thought I had more pace than the Fords. At the end of the day, Corvette Racing won this race. It’s good for the Manufacturer’s title. Olly and Tommy deserve this win. It’s just a shame we couldn’t make it a 1-2 but that’s Long Beach.”

JAN MAGNUSSEN, NO. 3 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R – FOURTH IN GTLM: “That’s not at all the result we were hoping for. It looked very good after the pit stop when Antonio got in the car. We had a small issue on the restart that put him from first to last. After that, he did a great job of recovering as best he could. Getting fourth-place points is much better than last year, but if things had gone a little differently we could have won. But we’re a two-car team; the No. 4 Corvette took advantage of that and other people’s mistakes, and Olly and Tommy did a fantastic job to get back-to-back wins here. We have some work to do now. Hopefully we can start turning this around to look like championship contenders in the second half of the season.”

CORVETTE RACING AT LONG BEACH: Second and Third Rows in GTLM Qualifying
Defending GTLM champions will go for seventh class victory at venue

LONG BEACH, Calif. (April 13, 2018) – Corvette Racing will go for its seventh victory on the streets of southern California from the second and third rows of the GT Le Mans (GTLM) category following qualifying for Saturday’s Bubba Burger Sports Car Grand Prix at Long Beach.

Jan Magnussen qualified the No. 3 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C7.R fourth Friday and Oliver Gavin fifth in the No. 4 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C7.R for the third round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, which will air live on FOX starting at 4 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT.

Magnussen, a two-time winner at Long Beach, set a best lap of 1:17.293 (91.661 mph) in the Corvette he shares with Antonio Garcia. Not far back was Gavin, last year’s GTLM winner with Tommy Milner, at 1:17.533 (91.377 mph). Gavin is a four-time class winner at Long Beach to lead all IMSA drivers in victories at the 1.968-mile, 11-turn venue.

Corvette Racing is the defending GTLM race-winner after Gavin Milner won last season on the final lap. It is one of six victories for Corvette Racing since its Long Beach debut in 2007. No team in IMSA has won more times at America’s longest-running street race.

Friday’s qualifying session laid the groundwork for what could be another extremely tight race in GTLM. The top six cars were within 0.680 seconds.

The Bubba Burger Sports Car Grand Prix at Long Beach will air live at 4 p.m. ET on FOX. Live audio coverage from IMSA Radio is available on IMSA.com.

JAN MAGNUSSEN, NO. 3 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R – FOURTH IN GTLM: "Not exactly where we wanted to be, but at least we improved the car from the final practice to qualifying. I don't know what was wrong in the last practice. The car just didn't have a lot of grip, but we found some speed for qualifying. P4 is not great, but it is not bad. We just have to see what we can get back when we get going.
"At Long Beach, qualifying is important because you can kind of dictate the race a little bit if you can get a lead. But if you can't get pole, you better have an awesome race so that is what we are going to do."

OLIVER GAVIN, NO. 4 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R – FIFTH IN GTLM: "It's been an interesting day. We've gone through a number of setup changes. I don't think we had the ultimate pace to be on pole here, but I felt we could be on the front row. I think I was attacking the circuit but sometimes during that qualifying session I was just was overdriving - flying over curbs, getting too aggressive like though the turns Nine, 10 and 11 areas. I had a number of laps that were really good up to through Turn Nine and into 10, then the lap would unravel through the last two corners. It just got very, very frustrating. It was either through 10 or 11 that I would do something wrong. So, I have to get back and look at that. But we are P5, and we proved last year that we can fight and battle from there. We genuinely have a good race car. I've just got to get it figured out how to get through 10 and 11! I will go back and look at that and have it figured it out by tomorrow. It’ll be good.”
