His mom is white, dad is black... that would make him....The President. Race is not an issue to intelligent and well informed people. Politically he is a socialist. He has made that very clear by words and actions. "He is trying hard, he has good intentions", the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Ah politics, the old adage of "Believe nothing you see and only half what you hear" holds true for everyone. McCain/Obama, different sides to the same coin, except for the latest speech Obama gave in Europe, I don't think things would be much different, sadly. Everyone can argue till their blue in the face (and they usually do) about who's right and who's wrong, only time will tell. I am old school Republican and I hope the next go 'round we have someone with guts and gonads to stand strong, man-up as it the saying goes. I did not vote for Obama or McCain, I voted third party for the first time in my life. I am giving him a chance, I hope we are all happier and healthier for it. Hey, I've been wrong before, and divorce court solved that problem.

Smile, don't let it get you down.

WOW, those are incredible shots. Dump leaflets of these on the enemy before a campaign and watch em surrender. The shot of the helicopter IN the water was cool, never new they could do that, by design anyway. The high speed shots of the artillery is....WOW. Thanks pianoguy.

I am not against a color change. My 92 is white, not bad but not that exciting either. The ruby is nice. Maybe a repaint in the original color but have the painter add some pearl into the clear coat for an extra pop in the sunlight. Or maybe bright silver with a ruby Grand Sport stripe.

Or maybe Matt's, WNTRSUX. I tried to get it here in Michigan but it was already taken.

Hey Matt, have fun on your mini-vacation. The baby should be fine at home, just leave enough beer in the fridge and chips and cheese and she should be hunky-dory. I loved it when my parent left me home alone. Ah the good ole days.

Weather here is stuck on stupid. Highs during the day in the 50's and low 30's at night. Still too cold yet to get the car out but getting there.

Work seems to be picking up a bit, that's a good sign.

Have a good morning all.

I think I read somewhere that God helps those who help themselves .

The Amero soon to replace the US dollar as the money of the North American Union. We won't need border patrols because we won't have any. That smoke you smell is the US constitution going up in flames.

Obamas not totally to blame but he sure hasn't helped the situation any. Pay no attention to the men behind the curtain.

The shaft came out of the car rather easily. The problem was removing the joints from the yokes. Both sides were seized. I have replaced ujoints before and never had this problem. That is when I start asking people with more experience for suggestions.

"^^Huh?

He is trying to get the u-joint out of the Half Shaft yoke.

Anyway OP, just get anything larger in Diameter to put under the lower part of the yoke.

Then get a Socket or something shaped like that you don't care to own anymore......place it on the u-joint cap and hit it with a hammer.......hard.....

It is aluminum the cap will move easily within.

This was just about the easiest u-joint I ever removed in 30 years of shade treeing....."

Absolutely, I did just that and it should have worked like you described, but didn't budge.

Due to the lack of progress I decided to visit my local garage. It took him just under a half hour to get the job done. He said normally it is a very simple quick job but this time the shaft did not want to let go. He was all smiles when he got done, ah Victory. It cost me $36. I am happy. When an experience mechanic with all the right tools has a hard time, I don't feel so bad.

Now I get to put it all back together .

Thanks everyone.

I had an AH-HA moment when I removed the right side shaft. The outer ujoint is completely shot, I am surprised it is still in one piece. I have everything out, spindle nut was fun but got er done. I followed the advice on previous threads about how to replace the joints using a vice and sockets. I broke the vice. Are they usually in that tight? I had one of my father's friends say put some heat to it and it will loosen right up. The shaft is aluminum and I have had some bad experiences with heat and aluminum. Help please.

I started the tear down for replacing the bearings and ujoints and ran into a problem. I have a 1992 coupe. I don't have a socket the right size for the spindle nut. 1 1/4" is too small and 1 1/2" is too big. I will be going to the auto parts place tomorrow to get the spindle washers and will pick up a socket when I am there. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Dave.

Congrats Pat on the new home. Being a life time renter I have found home ownership to be akin to walking a tight rope without a net, no landlord to call when things go south. Oh well, I still love being a homeowner.

Our Power company came through and exercised their god-like powers and removed half of our maple tree in our front lawn, said it was too close to their power lines. Looked like hell so we had a tree removal company come over and remove the rest. It was 32" at the base. Today the stump grinding guy came over and finished the job. Loud and messy, more work to be done. My son made a comment on the fact that the grinder dude looks like Abe Lincoln, and he does.

Other than that it has been a beautiful day here reaching almost 70, yes. Spring is coming. Have a good one. Dave.

Eviscerated is a word I had not heard before. Time to Google.:google:

For others who did not know the meaning either...

Disembowelment as torture. If performed on a living creature, it is fatal in virtually all cases. It has historically been used as a severe form of capital punishment. The last organs to be removed were invariably the heart and lungs so as to keep the condemned alive (and in pain) as long as possible.

Thanks pianoguy, love to learn new words. As a side note, damn!

Good morning everyone.

"First order of business, I'd like to send wishes to Vetteblondie, who put her mom in the hospital yesterday. We hope she recovers quickly!"

What did you do to her? I put my sister in the hospital when I pushed her down a flight of stairs, my parents were not happy people, my sister either. Ah, that's water under the bridge. Wow, my wife has an MRI this morning, been there done that. I don't much like hospitals, been there too many time while growing up.

It is really windy here this morning but it is warmer, a step in the right direction. Here is a few pics to warm up to...

I like cruising around Ebay to look at other vettes for sale. I found this one that looks nice, salvaged, but the only thing that is not right is the ZR1 badges.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cars-T ... 65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318

I am not sure what it means to salvage and auto, is that a bad thing? They don't put into print it is a ZR1 but they don't say otherwise either, is that fraud? Just curious.

Good morning everyone. Hey Matt, I went to bed early, about the time you posted yours. Migraine got me up at 5am, not a great way to start my three day weekend. Going to take my youngest son, Hunter, to race indoor go-karts about noon. He has the day off school, seems kids have more days off for odd reasons than I did when I was in school. My oldest son Tyler is having a great time at Gettysburg. Today they head over to Maryland (Antietam) and then to W. Virginia. They got 'em running. I am proud to say I have some Friday babes to contribute, don't forget to take the test at the end.

Good morning all, funny joke Matthew, good way to start the day. The local water softener company will be by this morning to re-install the water softener system (rebuilt ours) that has not worked since we moved in. Goodbye rust, bad tasting water, and water spots on the cars. It was so bad that I did not wash the car at home last year. Today is my Friday and I am happy about that, it's been a long week. Here are a few funny pics,

Good day mates, I am getting ready to start ordering parts for the car this week, it's the only shopping I like doing. Economy is slow, I just found out the company I work for just bought 26 acres of land in Cullman Alabama to build a big 30 million dollar facility. I think it may be time to move to warmer pastures. That should be about two years down the road. Other than that, it's been a slow weekend. Have a good day all.

Oh yeah, 1992 FSM does say 164 lb.ft. for the spindle and 66 for the hub mounting bolts. 66 on the spindle would be bad. As for the wheel,I am not sure why it is bent. I have not hit anything in the short time I have owned it. The sawblades are beat up at all four corners and they put 255/40r17 on it (9.5" wheels) which I really don't like because the rim sticks out further than the tread width. I am flip flopping between Z06 (black or comp grey) or the GS A-molds (17x11) with new rubber all around.

Thanks for the response. I am planning on new wheels and tires so that is one area. Sounds like replacing the bearings was in the future anyway. I was thinking about shopping at Corvette Central.

U-joints, sounds like a good idea at about $18 each. Now, rubber or polyurethane bushings?. Are they difficult to put in?

Now for the torque on the bearings. 200 ft/lbs? FSM says 66, why so much more?

I am getting excited, summer is coming.

I had a car once with a bent axle and when driven down the road your could feel it and when placed on jack stands the wobble was easily seen. Late last season I think my right rear wheel bearing went bad. Upon acceleration it made a 'thump, thump, thump' sound that increased as I sped up. No sound while coasting or while at steady speed (i.e.: 70 mph on the highway). I tried to move the axle shaft but it was solid. While jacked up I tried to move the wheel by hand but it was solid. I did notice while installing new shocks that the rim is bent (lip). I also noticed the lower control rod has a shiny spot corresponding to the tire.

My idea is the bearing is bad causing the tire to contact the control rod while under load. The car has 143K on it. Any input would be greatly appreciated. I have the funds to fix, I just don't want to start throwing money at it hoping to find the problem. Been there done that. Please help. Thanks.

My son has gps and can tell me how fast I am traveling while sitting in the back seat. Seems an easy way to automatically fine speeders as well. Go five over and they have it immediately taken out of your checking account. hey, no more parking meters. Just pull up and park, they just charge your account accordingly. How many ways could this be used????

Welcome Curt. Wow, small world, I had saved the video of your car that I found on Youtube a while back. I loved the build and the changes it went through, especially the paint job. Sweet color, candy is a difficult color to apply and look good, great job. You bought it a day after giving birth? Wow, most people would have to sell it at that point to buy a more reasonable family car(that is from my wife's voice in my head). Kudos to your wife for her support of your Corvette lifestyle.

Since the login is not automatic I usually only do so to post. I am in and out of here several times a day. Do you think it makes a difference to log in? I wonder how many others do the same or if they are not members and really just anonymous users lurking in the shadows? Only the shadow knows.

Loved Magnum PI. I almost bought a yellow 1979 308 , glad I did not. After having my 1992 coupe a year there is no way I would have been able to afford the up-keep. Maybe someday. . I noticed the body style is somewhat the same as the C4.

Right out of the Nazi play book. Hitler would be proud. I do not know what the NRA membership dues are but I will shortly. Thanks JrRifleCoach.

Gotta love Paul Lynde. Thanks Sweet90, that's the kind of humor I grew up with in my home. It's been cold here lately, and outside it's been not too bad though. Me and the queen are having a dispute about fiscal spending. I want to help stimulate the economy (stuff for the vette) and she wants to give it all to the to the big banks( who just got a bailout). GRRRRRRR. Oh well, life goes on. I wish I had something funny to add but I got nothing. Thanks for the laugh.

Beautiful color, my wife wants me to paint my 1992 coupe that color, it is currently white. I put new shocks on mine last spring and had zero problems, gotta love it.

I have dozens of cars I would like to own and drive, who doesn't. I have always loved the front engine dragsters and I hope to someday run one. It would be a stretch from were I am now but my vette was also once only a far off dream. Here is a video of some cool dragsters. Enjoy.

Wow, those guys are incredible. I really liked the Tommy Emmanuel performance, saved that. Here is something from the movie August Rush.

Keep 'em coming.

That's about the only way to get them motivated....

As a life long procrastinator all I can say is you are spot on. Switch it now. I don't care anyway, I got Dish.

What I have been reading on this there are 13 or 15 states that want more strict standards that the fed standards. That sounds rather scary.

We used to have the free tax work done by the irs office here but they have an income limit and we evidently made too much, nice program where they do your taxes then set up direct deposit or mail it to you, all free. Well, we then started using Taxslayer (last six years). They do all the paperwork for fed and state. Then if you want to mail it just transfer the numbers to the appropriate tax forms and send or if you want it fast give them $20 and they efile it and it will be in your account 7-10 business days (they will tell you the IRS's direct deposit schedule) but here in Michigan it may take longer for the State to give up the funds. I have no problems with them. My 2 cents.

Well, we are gonna take the youngin's to go roller skating later today. I haven't been on skates since about 1978. They say inline is the way to go but I need more stability of the traditional skates. See ya.
