The Elites are a good hedder, from all accounts. The only difference is that they are 1-5/8" vs 1-3/4" of the high priced hedders. Only makes a difference if you are building a very high performance engine.

Hey Andy, were did you find McJack's? I never heard of them. Do you know anyone who is running a set?

Man, I am glad my car is a six speed. It took me about half a minute to realize what he was saying. At first, I just thought that Pete looked older then I had pictured him.

I have a set of J55's on my car, w/ slotted rotors, S/S brakes lines. Hawk HPS pads, and Synthetic fluid. Believe me, the brakes are amazing; but if you are starting from scratch, as you appear to be, I would follow Jeff's advice and go w/ the C6 calipers. You can never have enough surface area.

Three or four, not banned yet. I guess I don't like drama that starts over there, I haven't been there much lately. I think I like it better here, again no drama.
Have you guys noticed that, since Frank stepped down, all of the mods over there are C5 and C6 owners? I asked a mod why that was, and got some BS answer. It kind soured me on the place.
Hey Andy, how about a special avatar to denote the fact that the member has been banned from CF?

I agree w/ Tommy. I can count on two hands the friends I lost/got serious hurt on motorcycles. Were I live, many people have them, and people ask me why I don't get one. After what I have seen and been thru, I would never own one.

I do remember seeing that test pattern. It was for channel 6 in Philadelphia. I think the first show to come on Saturday morning was Birdie the Bunyup. It was a puppet show, staring Birdie. I have no idea what a Bunyup is/was, kind of looked like a dog. His nemesis was Sir Guy T Guy.

Man, I am I old or what?

Very true, and I never would have guessed that until I ran on them full time to prove to myself. Point-and-go driving is a good thing.

In my opinion, good advise everywhere in this thread.... proof positive it can be done.

Yes, thank you everyone for your input.

I guess my plan now is to get the rear in, in April.

The next step is to pick up these?
http://store.summitracing.com/egnsear ... 5+4294904730&autoview=sku

I'm going to keep the stock rims I guess. See what I can do with the brakes. New bias springs perhaps. Wish I knew for sure if the C5 brakes would fit.

Anyone disagree with that plan?

John.
You need to go for a ride in my car; J55 brakes w/ slotted rotors, S/S brake lines, Hawk HPS pads, and synthetic brake fluid. Then you would have no issues w/ the wheels fitting on the car.

If you guys can come 1/2 way, say DE, I'll do it next weekend. The 13th? Again, weather permitting. This time of year rain can turn to ice fast, it's a fine line. I don't need an excuse to drive....Cold beer, steak, I can do that.

It's only an hour and change, c'mon...

Do you guys remember Boris Badenoff and Natasia? Remember the way she said "moose and squirel" in her Russian accent? One night in a bar in Chiacgo, a friend an I had a Russian bartender. My buddy asked her to say "moose and squirel". It got to the point were everytime she walked by she would say it, to stop us from bugging her. She got a great tip.

BTW, I feel your pain. The first year I had my car, I found a rat (not a mouse) was living in our garage, and was sleeping on my intake, or at least using it as aplace to potty. I was lucky to get him before he did any damage.

Good Luck, Randy

Wow, those are some impressive numbers, given the size of the heads; w/ your Dart 210's and a mini ram, your engine should make 550 hp no problem.

Can't wait to see the pic's.

and here is the real rub - the goo WILL break down over time. You can't get the old seal clean enough to provide enough bite to get it to stick for more than a few months or so.

It's a stop gap at best...

If Wilcox is offering $50 for a rear seal, get it.

I also highly recommend Honda Pro-Silicone spray for the seals. It's cheap and works VERY well.

Austin - Welcome!!!

Thanks! I'd rather be driving my car than messaging, of course, but at the temps we're having, the time to drive is before 9am. So I'll enjoy the next best thing. John

John,

I hear that! I am from Delaware, and live in LA now... it's much nicer here in the summer than in Delaware. No humidity!!!

Andy, is that true? No humidity? That hard to believe, I thought you were pretty close to the water there.
Hey, has anyone read the directions for installing one of these seals on Wilcox's web site? I am getting my car painted, and the rear window seal needs to me replaced. Just wondering how hard it is to do. I may have the painter do it, not sure.

Or perhaps a really fubar'd solenoid could short internally?

Get a look underneath at the starter wiring, see if anything's melted.

I had this happen to me one day while working on the stereo system of my '82 Mustang. The starter solenoid shorted out and the engine started to turn over slowly as I was sitting in the car. This is why you should always disconnect the battery before doing any electrical work. I changed out the solenoid, and the car was fine, no melted wires.

You can't to that if you have an oil cooler, the union for the hose that runs down below the engine is located under the A/C compressor.

Looks good though. Love the blue hoses. Its a shame the don't make them for '90+ Corvettes.

Other then cutting up the manual seat tracks, any ideas on how to lower the seats?

I have a '90 that I switched from conventional to Mobil 1, and the engine did start to leak oil, from around the distributor. Also, the '90 may have an oil cooler on it (mine does) that will make the switch unnessary. I don't drive my car enough to worry about how many miles between oil changes, I just change it twice a year.

OK, here is my idea on how to do this. I saw a post over on CF were a guy drilled holes into the metal piece that runs along the top of the rear bulkhead. I am going to remove the carpet from back there, use a piece of cardboard to make a template that fits against the bulkhead. I'm going to cut some 3/4" plywood to fit, and then decide were to mount the amp. I will then drill holes for the amp and counted sink them, so that when I attach the plywood to the bulkhead, the four screws will stick out from the bulkhead. I can the cover the plywood w/ sound deadener, and the rug, and then mount the amp, useing some stand off's, so that it is not resting against the rug.

What do you guys think?

It's just fiberglass with corrugated/reinforcement ribs running vertically and a gas tank close behind it. I don't see why you can't attach 4 studs to it with washers and then stick your plywood onto that with your amp. Or mount the amp directly.

Thanks , CC

Andy is correct, the Bose does Blow, it you care about your tunes, replace it. It is a bit of work, but not that hard. If your not sure what to do, just ask us, we have done it to our cars, we can get you thought it.

BTW, in the end, the $$$ is about the same, but the result is light years ahead.

I am using frost king for that, but to really help with the noise, put a thin layer of the mat stuff and then add carpet padding... the dense stuff, mastick? I don't remember.

That will dull the roar.

What kinda tires?

Goodyear Eagle F1 GS tires

I think the Second Skin Overkill Pro will help kill the tire noise, I am also going to remove the rear wheel wells and line them w/ the RaaMmat. What I really wanted to know is if anyone has attached a piece of plywood to the rear bulk head and hung an amp off of it. If I put it on the floor, I will have to build something to protect it, so I can throw a bag or a couple of cases of beer back there.

Thanks for the responce guys, three more then over on CF.
