Cold here. Took the dog for a walk this morning and it froze me down to my bones. Guess that's winter.

Had a multi-state taekwondo training day today. Almost 200 kids from 7 states and Canada in one spot. Good experience. Jacob did alright. I was hoping seeing some top tier kids would light a little fire under his butt but he's still not there yet. It's not a technical skill issue, it's a drive / desire / aggressiveness issue. He'll get there one day but everyone is different.

Letty, any win is a good win in my book.

Marcus, speaking of haircuts the wife took Jacob to my new barber this week. Same thing, guy is about 75 years old. She said she had never seen someone cut hair that fast. That's how it was done. Hard to find nowadays.

Daughter had opening weekend for her first high school musical. She was ensemble with a small part but did well. I think she enjoyed herself and all the kids worked their butts off for practice and did a great job. I went this afternoon and the wife is going this evening.

Gloomy and rainy here as well. Can't believe it's December already. Year end is right around the corner.

Wildwoods are probably around $2500 for that setup. Now is when Tommy can complain about the price and tell us when he started driving they used their feet to stop but Wilma was always yelling at him anyway.

Had TKD class this morning. A couple of really good kids in there, a couple of average ones. I can see the really good ones going far.

Woke up to cold weather and snow. It's been snowing lightly all day long. Cloudy and glum. I guess winter is here. I didn't get a chance to do a final wash and winterization for all of the cars. Oh well. I'll make do with what I have.

Still waiting on a part for the alternator so the Vette is still down. It's time to put it away anyway but I wanted one last wash and fill up. Oh well.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. We took a little trip to St Louis over the past couple of days. Watched the parade this morning and then drove home. Just finished a little dinner with just the four of us. It's been a good couple of days.

Sorry I've been busy this week and have not checked in. I will have to catch up on posts later.

My back is improving a little bit after the accident. Still seeing the chiropractor. The insurance company is not in any hurry to fix my car. They were supposed to call me this week but never did. I left a voicemail but haven't heard back yet.

I drove the Corvette to work the other morning. Got a mile or two away from the house and the alternator took a crap. Of course I was already on the freeway and I had to make a big loop around. I was able to nurse it back home and pulled in the garage with about 9 volts left so I barely made it. The alternator is at the rebuilder right now and he said the inside is fried and he can't figure out why. Hopefully we can fix it with parts otherwise I need a new one.

TB, sorry to hear the news about your father-in-law.

Competition went ok yesterday. He was pretty nervous and wasn't aggressive during his sparring matches like I told him to be. Can't teach that, just something you're born with or you learn over time. Hopefully it will come to him. I was still proud of him for his first time and he came home with a couple of medals so he was happy.

RR#2 has a tkd tournament today, his first ever. Normally you start a little sooner but covid messed everything up. He seems a little disinterested so hopefully he steps up when it's time to perform. He has the potential to do well, it's up to him.

I've been busy this week. Finally got a call back from their insurance company for the claim. It's open and pending but moving slow. Got the estimate done yesterday from their independent appraiser but haven't heard back yet. My back has been hurting so I've been to the chiropractor twice this week and made two more appointments for next week. They can pay for that, too.

Have to cut back on TKD classes. I'll try to teach a couple but won't be able to participate.

At parent teacher conferences this morning for RR#2. Had conferences for RR#1 last night. All is well of course. They are both good students.

Haven't heard back from the insurance company yet. Guess I'll have to call them again today. Their definition of 24 hours is different than mine, apparently.

Cool and rainy here. I need to get the sprinklers winterized today. Shouldn't be too much trouble.

Dreary here. Had a rough day yesterday. Took RR#1 out for some driving lessons. She's nervous as is and needed to do some highway driving and merging. Got off the freeway and when stopped at the bottom of the ramp got rear ended by a private ambulance trying to beat the light. Great. Probably 3k in damage but no injuries. He swerved at the last minute so it sort of glanced off the back corner. Still not fun. She was pretty traumatized but better that I was with her. I am waiting for their insurance company to calle back.

It is cool here and has been raining for the last 3 days. There's more rain in the forecast coming up. Still been driving the Camaro and the rain. It does surprisingly well with drag radials. Traction control only kicked on a few times.

Speaking of cars, good news and bad news for the mustang. I went to my buddyy shop on Monday and I did a bunch of work. A new clutch cable seemed to fix the problems I was having with clutch engagement. Unfortunately when you drive it the brand new flywheel is vibrating. So I need to take the transmission back out and I'm going to put on a used OEM flywheel that I have instead of the aftermarket. Unreal. Luckily I can do that myself but it's still not on the top of my list of things to do.

Tommy, most of my investments are still recovering from the covid market bitch slap. A few more years and they should be back to normal. I talked to the vice president of one of the investment funds I'm in a while back and he basically said no need to worry because historically the market always recovers. So that's what I'm going on.

Happy Friday to everyone. Weather dropped somewhat drastically today. Was in the 80s in the beginning of the week. About 55 now with a high of 60, it will be cooler over the weekend.

Today is RR#2's bday, officially a teenager if the attitude wasn't already a sign. We gave him his big gift last night, a 3D printer he's wanted for a while. He was excited. Party this weekend.

Had another warm day today, it will cool off this weekend.

After a long search I was able to find some used emissions hoses and valves for the Camaro's secondary air injection system. Got those installed yesterday and no more check engine light. It's unusual to drive it without seeing it on...

TB, a massage sounds good right about now. Did the insurance company give you a reasonable payout for the car?

The high school had a band competition 2 hours away yesterday near the Iowa border. Long day for the kids but they did very well and won first place in their division (AAA) and overall grand champs. The wife went and said you could have heard the screams (of joy) a few blocks away. Good for them.

Started draining the pool last night so I can get that covered up later. I guess it's finally time even though it will be in the 70s today. Snow is just around the corner, I'm sure. Still driving the cars until that happens, though.

Made it over to Mom's house early and got a chance to cut down the dead tree in the front. Although it was dead it was a hardwood tree and wasn't quite as easy as it looked. That Milwaukee chainsaw works well but I burned through a few batteries in short time. Gas is definitely superior but this is convenient. As I was cutting all of the limbs into firewood one of the new neighbors walked by. I asked if they needed any firewood and she said yes we do. So her husband pulled up his pick up truck and took everything that I cut down except for the twigs and small branches. That was great for everyone.

Time for a workout now and then evening kids activities. Always something.

Did a TKD class last night. Had to show the young kids what an old man could do. Let's just say they weren't prepared for the level I brought (old style vs new style sparring). I'm paying the price today but ibuprofen helps.

Cool and rainy start to the day. Surprisingly it is supposed to warm up over the next few days and be in the upper 70s or lower 80s.

I have an eye doctor appointment shortly. I think my prescription is changed slightly since the last time I was there a few years ago. I guess it's time for new glasses.

Supposed to do a brake job on my uncle's car when I get back home. Hopefully no surprises there.

TB, the new car sounds nice. I'm sure it will serve you well.

Cool here but supposed to warm up this week.

I don't watch football but I know the bears lost. As usual lol.

Gas is right at $4 a gallon for regular, premium is a buck more. Everything is expensive. We took the kids out to dinner last night at a new place that opened up. A bar/restaurant. Two appetizers, four entrees, two sodas and two drinks with tip $130. Seems pretty standard anymore.

Woke up at 4:30 to heavy thunderstorms and a phone alert about 60 mph winds and hail. Ended up taking the Honda to work instead of the Corvette. Everything has cleared up since then. Saw a few tree branches down here and there but nothing major.

RR#1 got a small part in the school musical. So that means play practice, band practice, and tap dancing. We also have to schedule some more driving lessons. Something to do every night and weekend. Wife is already running around frantic so this just adds to it. We'll get by.

Wife drove BIL's truck over here today for me to look at the check engine light. I scanned it and it came back as an overretarded passenger side intake camshaft. Did some more testing and it appears that the variable valve timing solenoid is bad. Happens when you don't change your oil frequently enough. It's about 2.5 hours to replace. I told him I can do it one day. My friend who owns a shop told me if that's bad the whole engine is not far behind because it needs timing chains and variable timing phasers (4 of them). You also do the water pump, belts, and plugs at the same time to the tune of around $3800. Sheesh.

Was a cool day today high was only upper 60s or lower 70s. Unusual based on the temps the last few weeks. We should see upper 90s this weekend, though.

Drove the vette to work this morning and it got a bunch of nasty dirty water splashed on it on the highway. Had to come home and spray detail the entire car.

It was a hot one today, lower-mid 80s. Supposed to be 90 again in a few days.

You guys are right, nothing is cheap. Took the kiddo shopping for sweat pants for back to school. $45-50 in every store for a decent pair. Insane. Luckily we found some on sale and walked out with four pairs for $75. Still too much if you ask me.

The heat here has subsided, cool weather has moved in. More like fall temps for right now and I'm ok with that.

Picked up a nice used stainless steel magnaflow catback for the Camaro to replace the obnoxious one that is on there (drone is annoying). The hangers need to be moved / replaced for my setup and I need to have some pipes custom made to fit the center mount exhaust. I'll have the shop do all of that. Me and exhaust is like TB and plumbing.

Its pretty wild to think it's already the end of August. I was thinking about it last night and it feels like tomorrow will be 2024.

Going to be a hot one today around 100. The schools all cancelled any outdoor events or extra curricular activities.

I need to get the Vette over to the self car wash today to clean the engine bay and undercarriage.

Weather has been cooling off here but will be in the 80s today and tomorrow. Fall is my favorite season, I enjoy the sunny days with cool nights. Great driving weather.

Kids started school on Thursday. So far they like their teachers. That's a good sign.

Got the car back today, he fixed the hose and filled up the trans. Tow was part of my insurance package. Stopped by his house for a bit after work and BS'd. All is well in the world.

Getting mad doesn't solve the problem. Fix it and move on. Car didn't burn so it's ok.

New fuse box came in the other day for the Corvette. Got a chance to install it yesterday and it fixed the fan problem, ran like a champ. Took it for a drive on the highway. I was doing about 60 and I went to pass a car. As soon as I gave it some gas I saw a huge plume of smoke coming from the back of the car. Great. I checked my gauges and everything was good. I was able to limp it off the highway about a mile down and then it wouldn't go any further. I assumed the rear trans line quick disconnect broke but upon inspection I found the that line to my trans cooler in front of the car popped off and blew trans fluid all over the engine bay and underside of the car. Luckily trans fluid doesn't burn until it's really hot but it sure made a smoke show. Had to call a tow and they took it up to the shop that did the work. I was on the phone with the owner after it happened. He'll get it fixed up.

Little cooler here today, windows open and AC off. Not bad. But that means winter is just around the corner....

Cost of new cars is pretty insane, Tommy. Seems like we will give my accord to RR#1 next year as her first car because she doesn't want my mom's car. I was looking at the price of low mileage Tacomas and they're a hair under $40k for a CPO before taxes and fees. Great. Can't wait.
