CORVETTE RACING AT VIR: Tough Going for Pair of Chevrolet Corvette C7.Rs

Garcia, Taylor finish seventh in GTLM; crash results in ninth place for Gavin, Milner

ALTON, Va. (Aug. 24, 2014) – Antonio Garcia and Jordan Taylor led Corvette Racing’s effort at the Oak Tree Grand Prix with a seventh-place finish Sunday at Virginia International Raceway. The result keeps Garcia in the lead of the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship’s GT Le Mans driver standings and the No. 3 Chevrolet Corvette C7.R entry first in the class team championship.

Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner in the No. 4 Corvette C7.R were ninth in Sunday’s race after Milner was forced off track midway through the race and lost four laps. Two races remain in the inaugural TUDOR Championship season. Corvette Racing has four class victories on the season – the most of any team in GTLM.

Gavin and Milner looked to be the stronger of the two Corvette Racing entries in the race’s first half. Gavin opened with a strong stint that saw the Brit move from ninth at the start to fifth by the time he handed off to Milner. The American was battling with the eventual race-winning Ferrari just prior to the halfway point when he was hit hard from behind by another GTLM competitor.

The impact pushed Milner far off the track and heavily damaged the left-front of the Corvette C7.R and ended their podium challenge. The Gavin/Milner duo hoped to replicate their 2012 American Le Mans Series class victory at VIR.

Taylor started the No. 3 Corvette C7.R in place of Jan Magnussen, Garcia’s regular teammate. As a precaution following a crash involving Magnussen in Saturday’s practice session, the Dane and Chevrolet Racing management agreed he would not race.

Sunday morning’s warmup marked the first laps in the Corvette C7.R around VIR for Taylor, who drives for Corvette Racing at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. He drove a measured stint following a careful start and was second when he pitted at the 53-minute mark to hand off to Garcia.

The Spaniard drove a solid double-stint and led with 50 minutes left when he made his final stop for fuel and tires. Try as he might, Garcia was unable to advance from seventh place. The result meant that Chevrolet fell out of the lead in the GTLM manufacturer championship.

The next TUDOR Championship race for Corvette Racing is the Lone Star Le Mans on Saturday, Sept. 20 from Circuit of The Americas in Austin, Texas. The team also will field a Corvette C7.R in the FIA World Endurance Championship’s six-hour race on the same day.

GTLM QUOTES

ANTONIO GARCIA, NO. 3 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

“This was a very difficult and frustrating day. First of all, it disappointing not having Jan race but we were fortunate to have Jordan. He did a great job in his stint, especially for not having been in the car on this track. The Corvette Racing team was great on our pit stops. There were no mistakes. The result is what it is. Everyone on the team did what they needed to do. We got the maximum result we could out of the car.”

JORDAN TAYLOR, NO. 3 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

“It was difficult. I don’t know what I should have expected. Jumping in the car for the first time on the day of the race is tough. I’d never taken the start before. I was a little cautious and a couple of guys got past. When things settled in, I think we had good pace. Once we saw where we were, we started saving fuel and made up a lap or two on some of the other guys. It put us in decent position for what we had.”

OLIVER GAVIN NO. 3 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

“The start was a little bit messy. It wasn’t a fantastic start for the Falken in front of me. The Ferrari ran wide out of Turn 10, and when he came back on just as I was coming into 11, he bombed me. Then I got side-by-side with one of the Porsches on the way down into Turn 14, and he didn’t give me enough room. As he was trying to go through on the outside, we touched and we both were sideways; he lost the rear and spun around. It was just a racing incident. After that, it was a matter of catching the Falken car. It was good racing with Bryan (Sellers) and he gave me lots of room; it was decent and fair. Jordan (Taylor) was good with me. He was trying to get a feel of things being brand new and fresh with the car. and gave me plenty of room at Turn 1. We both tried to get through that first stint without any contact or problems.”

TOMMY MILNER, NO. 4 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

“The breaks continue to go against us. I was racing hard with the Ferrari going into the brake zone off the backstretch. I had to give up the position and in doing so lost another spot before being hit hard by an impatient Porsche. That was our race. I had to come in and have most of the left-front replaced. It’s a real shame because Oliver had a good stint to put us in the position to challenge the front-runners.”

CORVETTE RACING AT VIR: Quite a Comeback After Crash During Practice

Crew repairs No. 3 Corvette C7.R as Garcia qualifies sixth; Milner ninth in No. 4 Corvette

· Corvette Racing team turns around No. 3 car to qualify after crash during morning practice

· Garcia only 0.05 seconds off front row in rebuilt Corvette C7.R

· Good position to continue fight for TUDOR Championship GTLM titles

ALTON, Va. (Aug. 23, 2014) – Corvette Racing’s No. 3 Chevrolet Corvette C7.R qualified sixth Saturday for the Oak Tree Grand Prix at Virginia International Raceway – barely two hours after a crash in the final practice session for this weekend’s round of the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship. Antonio Garcia set a best time of 1:44.105 (113.078 mph) in a car that was rebuilt as a result of Jan Magnussen going off track after sliding on fluid from another car.

The No. 4 Corvette C7.R will start ninth in the GT Le Mans (GTLM) class after Tommy Milner qualified the car with a lap of 1:44.812 (112.315 mph). He and teammate Oliver Gavin won the 2012 American Le Mans Series GT event for Corvette Racing.

Magnussen was running in the top-half of the GTLM class during the final practice when he slid and spun under braking early in the lap. He was transported, evaluated and released from the track medical center.

Less than two-and-a-half hours after the damaged Corvette returned to the paddock, crews members from both the No. 3 and No. 4 teams replaced the engine support cradle, sway bar, suspension, steering column, air jacks, rocker, assorted bodywork, body tray, left door and windshield, among other items. The No. 3 Corvette C7.R rolled to pit lane 15 minutes before the qualifying session began.

Garcia and Magnussen arrived at VIR with the GTLM points lead on the strength of four consecutive victories earlier in the season. Chevrolet is first in the manufacturer standings, and the No. 3 Corvette leads in GTLM team points.

Giancarlo Fisichella was the fastest qualifier at 1:43.797 (113.414 mph).

FOX Sports 1’s live television coverage of the Oak Tree Grand Prix at VIR starts at 4 p.m. ET Sunday. Live coverage of qualifying begins at 12:30 p.m. ET Saturday on IMSA.com.

GTLM QUOTES

ANTONIO GARCIA, NO. 3 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

“Corvette Racing worked hard as a group to put the car together. It wasn’t Jan’s fault this morning - going off like that. Everything after that was a gift. At some point we were thinking we wouldn’t race, to we thought we could race, and then every single minute went in our favor instead of against us. We went from not racing to thinking maybe we can make qualifying but the car might not be really good. Then we had time to get it ready - although maybe not 100 percent. But this crew gave me the confidence to do it even if I had to be progressive in my laps. I couldn’t go hard on the first lap just in case there was an issue. At the end of the day, the car was there. With the pace we showed in Practice 3, (the crash) was kind of a shame. We could have been P2 with four- or five-hundredths more. I was capable of doing those laps. The good thing is that not only are we ahead of the all the GTD cars, we’re mid-pack in our class. It’s a good starting position to keep pushing and fighting for the championship.”

TOMMY MILNER, NO. 4 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

“We’re a little confused, to be honest. The car didn’t feel too bad to be honest. I wasn’t going as quickly as I had gone before in the last practice, so that wasn’t a good sign. My best lap was my best one, so it seemed like the more we ran the better the car got. We’ll have to look at the tire pressures and data to see where we missed it and go from there. We made a change in the last session and didn’t get a great read on it, but it felt promising initially. Maybe that was part of it - I’m not sure. We have a good car for the race, which we always do. The track surface has more grip as we go along, so that will help.”

DOUG FEHAN, CORVETTE RACING PROGRAM MANAGER

“There are moments in life that make you immensely proud. What we witnessed today in the two hours and 20 minutes from when the Corvette Racing team got back a car that seemed not raceable to bringing it out for qualifying – and turn laps consistent with those that qualified on top – is one of the most amazing and proud moments I can remember. These guys are simply unbelievable.”

CORVETTE RACING AT VIR: Championship Stretch Run Begins

GT-only race means Corvette Racing will go for overall win in TUDOR Championship

· Overall race victory would be first for Corvette Racing in IMSA

· Gavin, Milner were winners at team’s inaugural race at VIR in 2012

· Chevrolet, Corvette Racing clinched last two ALMS titles at VIR

DETROIT (Aug. 19, 2014) – Corvette Racing’s first two years at Virginia International Raceway brought Corvette Racing championship bounties. This weekend, the team has a chance for another landmark in its history – an overall victory in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship. Corvette Racing will try and make that a reality this weekend in Oak Tree Grand Prix at VIR.

The ninth TUDOR Championship race for Corvette Racing is set for 4:05 p.m. ET on Sunday and features the GT Le Mans (GTLM) class – in which Corvette Racing competes – and the slower GT Daytona (GTD). After this weekend, only two events will remain. Heading to Virginia, Antonio Garcia and Jan Magnussen lead the GTLM driver’s championship as does Chevrolet in the manufacturer standings. The No. 3 Corvette Racing entry heads team points.

As was the case in 2012 and 2013, Corvette Racing comes to VIR with two entries. But unlike those two years, the vehicle of choice is the new Chevrolet Corvette C7.R – Garcia and Magnussen in the No. 3 Corvette, and Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner in the No. 4 C7.R. In its first season with the C7.R, Corvette Racing has won four straight GT Le Mans races in mid-season and placed second in class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The last two trips to VIR for Corvette Racing ended with championship-clinching results. In 2002, Gavin and Milner won the American Le Mans Series’ GT class by 20 seconds in the No. 4 Corvette C6.R. It was the fourth of the year for the duo and delivered three additional trophies: ALMS GT driver, manufacturer and team championships. In addition, Garcia set the fastest race lap in the No. 3 Corvette despite the car being caught up in a multi-car crash on a frenzied start.

The 2013 race provided a similar bounty. A third-place finish at VIR for Garcia and Magnussen landed Chevrolet a second straight GT manufacturer title and consecutive team titles for Corvette Racing. The driver’s championship for Garcia and Magnussen came a race later at Road Atlanta, but their podium result at VIR gave them a comfortable margin heading into the season finale where they claimed the GT championship. It marked the final appearance at VIR for the Corvette C6.R.

Fast-forwarding to this year’s Oak Tree Grand Prix, there’s no reason to think the new Corvette will be any less competitive than the C6.R. Starting at the Rolex 24 At Daytona, the Corvette showed consistent performance across different types of circuits. Gavin set the fastest race lap at Sebring as the No. 4 Corvette dominated but fell short of a victory. At Long Beach, Garcia and Magnussen won their first race of the year; Magnussen captured pole position and Milner set the fastest race lap.

Garcia and Magnussen added another victory at Laguna Seca – their second straight at the track – and Garcia was the fastest qualifier. After finishing second and fourth at Le Mans, Garcia and Magnussen continued their winning ways at Watkins Glen and Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

FOX Sports 1’s live television coverage of the Oak Tree Grand Prix at VIR starts at 4 p.m. ET Sunday. Live coverage of qualifying begins at 12:30 p.m. ET Saturday on IMSA.com.

GTLM QUOTES

ANTONIO GARCIA, NO. 3 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

“You need to have good braking and traction performance at VIR. The corners do not have as long a radius (as Road America) which means it comes down to how long you can roll through the corners and stay brave enough to keep it on track. VIR is one of those tracks where you don’t want to go off. All the combinations and fast sections are very challenging. You are constantly cornering and always turning. Managing traffic is still important if you have the fastest cars or not. You can be stuck behind someone and not have a way to get around for quite awhile. The GT Daytona cars are almost as fast as us on a straight so it may be a matter of them passing us before the braking zone.”

JAN MAGNUSSEN, NO. 3 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

“The track itself is different from anywhere else we go. It’s very interesting and very old school. To me, it’s incredible driving there and a very huge challenge. It’s a technical race track and super quick. The Corvette does well there because in the past – and we still do – because the car performs well with good mechanical grip and with aero.”

OLIVER GAVIN, NO. 4 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

“It can be a very technical track and a very fast track. The first few corners are technical in nature, then you come up the hill into some very fast sweepers. That requites high-speed balance and making sure your car has good downforce. Then you go to the Oak Tree Corner, which is the slowest turn on the track before going down a very, very long straight. So you’re trying to strike that balance of drag over downforce. It’s always that balancing act. It’s a huge challenge and that’s what everyone relishes when they go to a track. It’s a tough one to get right. If it wasn’t, it wouldn’t be as much fun.”

TOMMY MILNER, NO. 4 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

“It’s going to be great going back to VIR. They’ve made a bunch of changes this year to a number of places. They’ve repaved the surface and have added some runoff curbing and some room for runoff in some important corners. It was always a challenge there to be on the right line or you risked having some big moments. I don’t think they’ve taken any of the challenge away; they’ve made it a little nicer for us on the track for us drivers with multiple classes where you need that extra six inches of road to keep close to your competitors. I’m excited to see how that works.”

DOUG FEHAN, CORVETTE RACING PROGRAM MANAGER

“VIR is an old-school track that has quickly become one the Corvette Racing team looks forward to. The last two years have been good for both Chevrolet and Corvette Racing with championship-clinching results in each. This season, the GTLM title is as close as ever. After four straight wins in the middle of the season, we’re anxious to get back on the winning track and widen our points advantage. The hope is that VIR will be the track where the Corvette C7.Rs can fight for a victory again.”

CORVETTE RACING AT ROAD AMERICA: Second Straight Win for Action Express Racing

Fuel strategy pays dividends again for Prototype championship leaders

· Three Corvette DPs in top-five at Road America

· Corvette Racing Corvette C7.Rs sixth, seventh in GTLM

· Chevrolet leaves Road America leading Prototype, GTLM manufacturer championships

ELKHART LAKE, Wis. (Aug. 10, 2014) – Action Express Racing played its strategy to perfection once again Sunday as Joao Barbosa and Christian Fittipaldi won the Continental Tire Road Race Showcase at Road America. It was the second straight victory in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship for the No. 5 Corvette Daytona Prototype, and Barbosa and Fittipaldi increased their lead in the Prototype driver’s championship.

The victory was the first at Road America for the Corvette DP program and extended Chevrolet’s lead in the Prototype engine manufacturer championship.

Fittipaldi led the first 18 laps and Barbosa the final 15 as the lead cars made their final pit stops with 38 minutes remaining. Barbosa had pitted with a little more than an hour to go and benefitted from three caution periods in the race’s second half as Action Express Racing’s fuel and pit strategy worked just as it did in the last race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

"Congratulations to Joao Barbosa, Christian Fittipaldi and the No. 5 Action Express Corvette DP team on the victory today,” said Jim Campbell, Chevrolet U.S. Vice President, Performance Vehicles and Motorsports. “Their win was special since it was the first at Road America for a Corvette DP team."

Richard Westbrook and Michael Valiante were fourth for Spirit of Daytona Racing in the No. 90 Corvette DP after starting 48th. From the rear of the grid, Valiante made it up to fifth prior to the team’s first stop 59 minutes into the race.

Marsh Racing scored its best finish of the season with a fifth-place result for the No. 31 Corvette DP of Eric Curran and Burt Frisselle.

Jordan Taylor in the No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Corvette DP led with 46 minutes to go but crashed under caution with 30 minutes left due to a steering component malfunction. He and Ricky Taylor finished 10th in class.

The next race for the Corvette DPs is the Lone Star Le Mans on Saturday, Sept. 20 at Circuit of The Americas in Austin, Texas.

Sixth, Seventh in GTLM for Chevrolet Corvette C7.Rs

Corvette Racing’s two Chevrolet Corvette C7.Rs placed sixth and seventh in a hectic GT Le Mans (GTLM) race. Antonio Garcia and Jan Magnussen led the team’s charge in the No. 3 Corvette C7.R with Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner in the No. 4 Corvette following at the finish.

The result was enough for Magnussen and Garcia to retain their lead in the GTLM driver’s championship, as did Chevrolet in the manufacturer standings and the No. 3 Corvette C7.R in the team championship.

Both Milner and Garcia were jostled around on the opening laps. An early stop for two tires and fuel was a strategic move but it was undone by a tire going down due to debris on Garcia’s No. 3 Corvette and a one-minute penalty call on Milner for leaving pitlane with the exit closed.

Things settled down in the middle part of the race with Gavin running as high as fifth before a late-race incident with another GTLM competitor moved him back down the order.

The next TUDOR Championship event for Corvette Racing is the Oak Tree Grand Prix on Sunday, Aug. 24 at Virginia International Raceway.

CORVETTE DAYTONA PROTOTYPE QUOTES

CHRISTIAN FITTIPALDI, NO. 5 ACTION EXPRESS RACING CORVETTE DP

“Definitely, back-to-back wins is awesome. I want to thank the team, Chevy and ECR Engines… what an effort by this whole group. We were suffering some brake problems early in the race, but we managed to fix it on the first stop. Joao drove two very strong stints that put us back up front again. We also had a small encounter with the No. 10 car, but it went the way it went. I don't know what to say. We can't be happier than this. We have to turn the page and move on to the next race, and just continue to do what we have been doing."

JOAO BARBOSA, NO. 5 ACTION EXPRESS RACING CORVETTE DP

"It was definitely when I got in the car for my last stint, the team said, ‘It is going to be really tight so save fuel as much as you can.’ That is what I was doing. Luckily we had the last few yellows that made us good to go until the end on fuel. The team said go full bore, go on whatever map you want, and go as fast as you want, so I had a blast at the end."

MICHAEL VALIANTE, NO. 90 SPIRIT OF DAYTONA RACING CORVETTE DP

“We just took a risk with the strategy and followed the No. 10 and the No. 01 on strategy, and in hindsight, that is what cost us the race. Had we stopped (earlier), we would have won. At the start, the main thing was to try and stay out of trouble and not lose too much time to the leaders. I was able to get through without any incidents and make up positions, and we came in to the pits in fifth so the race was going really well for us. But you win some, you lose some and it ended up we just didn't make the right call with the strategy. On to COTA.”

RICKY TAYLOR, NO. 10 WAYNE TAYLOR RACING CORVETTE DP

“It was good. We had a very good car. It was unfortunate with what happened with the No. 5. We both braked really late. I was committed and he was committed. Unfortunately we touched and it’s lucky we both didn’t go around.”

ERIC CURRAN, NO. 31 MARSH RACING CORVETTE DP

“I got a pretty good start and moved up from eighth to the top-five, and we were able to run in the top-five for a little bit. Those P2 cars, once they get rolling they have a lot of speed, and one of the P2 cars got by me. Then I had to follow the DeltaWing, which has some big straight-line speed and then holds you up in the corner. But this 31 Whelen Corvette was working really well. We still have some work to do. It’s the first season for us with the Corvette DP. There is some more time and speed to come from it.”

JIM LUTZ, CHEVROLET CORVETTE DAYTONA PROTOTYPE PROGRAM MANAGER

“It’s great to score our first victory with the Corvette DP at Road America. The engineering and strategy by the Action Express Racing team was perfect. The number of cautions and debris on the track throughout the race made things difficult. But all four of our Corvette DPs showed well throughout the day. It’s always good to leave a track holding a championship lead, and that’s what Chevrolet has managed to do in the Prototype engine manufacturer’s standings.”

GTLM QUOTES

ANTONIO GARCIA, NO. 3 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

“It was quite a nightmare out there. The debris puncture on our tire put us out of sequence; we were already out of sequence a little bit. I found myself trying to defend even on new tires. The car was good but we were getting hammered out there.”

JAN MAGNUSSEN, NO. 3 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

“It was a very hectic and crazy race. We tried a gamble early by taking two tires. The second caution coming out soon after that hurt our chances, along with a piece of debris puncturing one of our tires. We scored the maximum amount of points that we could today, which was the goal. We will turn our focus to VIR now and hopefully be in better position to fight for a win and podium.”

OLIVER GAVIN, NO. 4 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

“It was another day that kind of summarizes our year. The call for two tires early was a good one but unfortunately the penalty pushed us back down the order. My stint started well and I could run pretty good lap times and stay with the cars directly in front of me. The incident with one of the Vipers ruined any chance we had for a good result. It’s a shame as the team did a fantastic job getting us up to fifth. But we will regroup and be ready for VIR and hope for a repeat of our 2012 victory.”

TOMMY MILNER, NO. 4 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

“It was a pretty rough couple of laps at the start. Both the driver’s side and passenger’s side and the rear bumper and front bumper all had contact. In some places, I was trying to make room for myself around people who didn’t want to give me room. It’s how the racing is, trying to get around PC cars. The car wasn’t bad.”

CORVETTE RACING AT ROAD AMERICA: Front-Row Start For Action Express Racing

Fittipaldi leads Corvette DP charge with second in qualifying; Gavin sixth in GTLM

· More momentum for Prototype championship leaders Fittipaldi, Barbosa

· Gavin leads Corvette Racing qualifying efforts in No. 4 Corvette C7.R

· Chevrolet aiming to retain lead in Prototype, GTLM manufacturer championships

ELKHART LAKE, Wis. (Aug. 9, 2014) – Christian Fittipaldi and Action Express Racing led the way for the Corvette Daytona Prototype contingent in Saturday’s qualifying session for the Continental Tire Road Race Showcase at Road America. Fittipaldi was second in the No. 5 Action Express Corvette DP during Prototype qualifying with a lap of 1:55.961 (125.670 mph) at Road America.

Fittipaldi and teammate Joao Barbosa are coming off a victory two weeks ago at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in the previous round of the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship. That win moved them into the lead of the Prototype driver’s standings. Another triumph in Sunday’s two-hour, 45-minute race would be their third of the season, having also won the season-opening Rolex 24 At Daytona.

Wayne Taylor Racing’s Corvette DP will start behind Action Express on the grid. Ricky Taylor’s time of 1:56.175 (125.438 mph) was good enough for fourth in qualifying. He will drive with brother Jordan.

The success of the Corvette Daytona Prototypes have Chevrolet leading the Prototype engine manufacturer’s championship after eight races. Corvette DPs have four victories on the season including three of the last four rounds.

Ryan Dalziel was the fastest qualifier with a 1:55.166 (126.537 mph) lap.

Corvette Racing: An Uphill Battle for Corvette C7.Rs

Back at the site of its first test nearly a year ago, Corvette Racing’s two Corvette C7.Rs qualified sixth and eighth in the GT Le Mans (GTLM) class Saturday. Oliver Gavin was the quickest Corvette driver with a lap of 2:04.650 (116.910 mph) in the No. 4 C7.R that he drives with Tommy Milner.

Jan Magnussen in the No. 3 Corvette C7.R set a best lap of 2:04.738 (116.827 mph). He and teammate Antonio Garcia lead the GTLM driver’s championship with a class-best four victories this season, all in succession. In addition, Chevrolet leads the class manufacturer’s standings.

In addition to its initial test last August, Corvette Racing tested at Road America in early May ahead of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The two Corvette C7.Rs ran in a lower downforce package than what it is using this weekend. Corvette Racing also has been consistently good in race trim this year, and the team’s focus has been on optimizing the balance of the cars over longer green-flag runs.

John Edwards set the fastest time in GTLM qualifying at 2:03.747 (117.763 mph).

FOX Sports 1’s television coverage of the Continental Tire Road Race Showcase starts at 6:30 p.m. ET Sunday. Live coverage of qualifying begins at 4:20 p.m. ET Friday on IMSA.com.

CHRISTIAN FITTIPALDI, NO. 5 ACTION EXPRESS RACING CORVETTE DP

“I wanted to be starting on the front row and that’s where we’ll be. All in all it was a good qualifying run. We have a solid car underneath us. Tomorrow is a long race and we’ll definitely try our very best to continue racing like we’ve been racing so far. An attitude of trying to win the race by all means and we’ll see what we can get out of it. Right now we’re thinking about championship points and it’s time to keep moving forward. We’ve been happy the whole weekend and I think we have a good car underneath us for tomorrow.”

JAN MAGNUSSEN, NO. 3 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

“Qualifying was difficult. Obviously eighth place in qualifying is not where we like to be, and it’s no fault of the efforts of the team. Fortunately, we traditionally have been very good for the races and over long runs, no matter our qualifying positions. That has been the focus of our practice sessions this weekend. Hopefully it will make a difference in the outcome tomorrow.”

OLIVER GAVIN, NO. 4 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

“We have focused quite hard on getting a good race car here. For a longer run we are in pretty good shape from what we can see from practice so far. I feel reasonably confident that we're going to be getting better as the race goes on. I felt as I was qualifying the car was coming, coming and coming, and I felt like the next lap was going to be a bit better. That is a promising sign for the race. In practice we had the same thing. So I'm quietly confident that we are going to get the maximum out of our car here for our team this weekend. It is going to be tough - very, very tough. You just look at the gap between us and the cars on the front row and it is pretty substantial. I remember here a couple of years ago when there was a two-tenths split between the first seven cars. Now we are in the position where there is a second split between the top six or more which is kind of disappointing and frustrating. It is what it is, and we can only work with what we've got. I think that Chuck (Houghton, Corvette Racing engineering manager) and all the guys on the No. 4 car have maximized that over the weekend, and we have made good use of our time on track. We haven't been hit by too many problems or issues, so I feel that we are a ready as we can be for the race."

CORVETTE RACING AT COTA: Adding American Flavor to WEC Round

Milner, Taylors to team in Corvette C7.R for Six Hours of Circuit of The Americas

· All-American lineup in lone U.S. race for FIA WEC

· Entry sponsored by Konica Minolta and Michelin

DETROIT (Aug. 8, 2014) – Corvette Racing will field a Chevrolet Corvette C7.R in the Six Hours of Circuit of The Americas on Saturday, Sept. 20 in the only race for the FIA World Endurance Championship in the U.S. The Corvette C7.R entry will have a distinctive American flavor with Tommy Milner, Jordan Taylor and Ricky Taylor teaming in the GTE Pro class at the venue in Austin, Texas.

The All-American trio will also compete in the weekend’s TUDOR United SportsCar Championship round, albeit on different teams – Milner with Corvette Racing in the No. 4 Corvette C7.R as part of that series’ GT Le Mans class and the Taylors in their Wayne Taylor Racing Corvette Daytona Prototype. The two-hour, 45-minute TUDOR Championship race will precede the six-hour WEC round that will offer the challenge of starting in the daylight to finish under the stars.

The TUDOR Championship, sanctioned by the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA), is North America’s leading professional sports car series. The FIA WEC is a global championship that features the 24 Hours of Le Mans, sanctioned by the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO).

Konica Minolta, full-time sponsor on the No. 10 Corvette DP driven by the Taylor brothers will co-sponsor the WEC effort along with long-time Corvette Racing technical partner Michelin.

“Chevrolet and Corvette Racing pride themselves on competing against the best sports car manufacturers and teams in the world,” said Mark Kent, Chevrolet Director of Racing. “This is a great opportunity to race in both the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship and FIA World Endurance Championship at Circuit of The Americas. The event will shine a spotlight on Chevrolet and the Corvette brand domestically and internationally.

“Chevrolet is fully committed to help grow the stature of sports car racing in North America," Kent continued. "It is important for us to support our partners in the TUDOR Championship as well as the FIA and ACO during one of the biggest weekend for sports car racing in North America. We greatly appreciate Konica Minolta and Michelin as without their support, this FIA WEC entry would not have been possible.”

CORVETTE RACING FIA WEC QUOTES

TOMMY MILNER

“Doing two races on the same weekend will be somewhat difficult. It will be made a little easier by going to and from essentially the same car. But I’m definitely looking forward to the challenge. It will be fun to have Ricky and Jordan in the car with us. Jordan obviously has time in the Corvette C7.R from Le Mans, and Ricky has time from last year at Le Mans in the C6.R. For Jordan, I’m sure driving the car in a full downforce spec will be quite a bit different than what he experienced at Le Mans. We’ll be helping them get going early on with lots of bouncing back and forth. It’s a challenge but I’m looking forward to it.

“It’s a great opportunity for the three of us to compete in this race for Chevrolet and Corvette Racing. I obviously know Jordan and Ricky pretty well. While the three of us will do everything we can do win in the WEC, our primary focus will be on the TUDOR Championship. We each are contending for championships in our respective classes, so doing what we can to score maximum points there is our primary focus.”

JORDAN TAYLOR

“This is an amazing opportunity. To be racing a Corvette in the FIA World Endurance Championship on American soil, with an all-American lineup… it couldn't be any cooler. It will be my first time racing in the WEC, other than doing Le Mans the past few years, so it's going to be a bit of a different feel racing in more of a sprint race format. We'll be representing America on a world stage. I can't wait.

“We're obviously racing for the championship in the TUDOR race, so we'll have to keep an eye on our main competitors to try and maximize our points. The WEC race is a one-off for us. We have nothing to lose, so we'll be there with one goal – to win. It's two different mentalities; both have their challenges.”

RICKY TAYLOR

“It is a very important weekend for us on many levels. For me it will be my first opportunity to drive for Corvette Racing and my first time in GTE Pro. I am really looking forward to getting to know the team and working with everyone on a race weekend. With three American drivers in an American marque, we have a really special opportunity here.

“We plan to sit in the car at Road America to figure out if we need to make a new seat. Jordan has been great; he keeps saying how much the car has improved and that I will be just fine in the car. Most of the learning will come after the first free practice when we are able to compare data and I have an idea of what the car does.”

CORVETTE RACING AT ROAD AMERICA: Back on Hallowed Ground

“America’s National Park of Speed” the next challenge for Corvette teams in TUDOR Championship

· Corvette C7.Rs back at Road America for second time in 2014

· Corvette Daytona Prototype teams seek first Elkhart Lake victory

· Chevrolet enters with lead in Prototype, GTLM championships

DETROIT (Aug. 6, 2014) – Four Corvette Daytona Prototypes and the Corvette Racing team’s two Chevrolet Corvette C7.Rs will contend for class victories this weekend at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.

One year ago, the landmark 4.048-mile, 14-turn track served as the site of a coming together of U.S. sports car racing as the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) and GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series competed on the same weekend. Fast-forward to the present day and the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship is headed back to Road America with Corvette Racing ready to make an impact of its own.

Corvette Racing: In a Familiar Place

Whether it’s for testing or racing, Corvette Racing has plenty of laps in-hand at Road America. Since 2002, the team has six class victories to its credit at the circuit – the last coming in 2008. Corvette Racing also routinely tests at Road America ahead of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. In addition, it’s where the team conducted its first test of the Corvette C7.R last August.

In 2013, both of Corvette Racing’s two entries made the GT podium in the American Le Mans Series’ race. Class champions Antonio Garcia and Jan Magnussen were second in the No. 3 Corvette C6.R with Oliver Gavin – a four-time pole winner at Road America – and Tommy Milner third in their No. 4 Corvette.

The ALMS’ GT class has transitioned into the TUDOR Championship’s GT Le Mans (GTLM) class with many of the same competitors. Garcia and Magnussen lead the class championship with four victories this year in the No. 3 Corvette C7.R. Meanwhile, Gavin and Milner are fifth in the No. 4 Corvette.

Corvette Racing’s performance also has Chevrolet in the lead of the GTLM manufacturer standings. The No. 3 Corvette heads the class team championship.

Corvette DP: Overdue for Road America Victory

Two weeks ago, the Corvette Daytona Prototype program scored its first victory at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The four Corvette DPs will look for a repeat at Road America, a place Chevrolet would very much like to capture an overall victory. The Bowtie brand continues to lead the Prototype manufacturer standings with three races to go.

Action Express Racing’s Joao Barbosa and Christian Fittipaldi enter Road America as the Prototype championship leaders following their win at IMS in their No. 5 Corvette DP. The duo placed second in last year’s Road America round and led the Corvette DP contingent.

Burt Frisselle finished third with brother Brian in a second Action Express Corvette DP in 2013. This time around, he will fill in again for Boris Said in Marsh Racing’s No. 31 Corvette DP alongside Eric Curran. Spirit of Daytona Racing’s duo of Michael Valiante and Richard Westbrook, who set the fastest lap of the 2012 Rolex Series race, look for a fourth straight podium following a win, a pair of runner-up finishes and a third-place in the last four races.

Wayne Taylor Racing’s Jordan Taylor and Ricky Taylor fell to second in the driver standings after Indianapolis behind Barbosa and Fittipaldi. The Taylors are two points back in the championship.

FOX Sports 1’s television coverage of the Continental Tire Road Race Showcase starts at 6:30 p.m. ET Sunday. Live coverage of qualifying begins at 4:20 p.m. ET Friday on IMSA.com.

GTLM QUOTES

ANTONIO GARCIA, NO. 3 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

“Road America has a great reputation not just in America but Europe as well. It has a little bit of European style to it with the layout and length. Plus there are a couple of large areas of gravel runoff areas for runoff. It is very fast and requires a car that has the right balance between downforce and low-drag. Corvette Racing has a very good history at Road America in the ALMS and with our testing program for Le Mans. Jan and I finished second last year in the final race there with the Corvette C6.R. I am hoping the testing we have done with the C7.R last year and in May will give us that little bit we need to capture victory.”

JAN MAGNUSSEN, NO. 3 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

“The first time I was at Road America was in a Champ Car. The place demands a lot of respect. It has some very fast corners like the Carousel and the Kink that if you get it wrong – especially in the Kink – it will mean a big crash. It’s also a place where if you are a little brave and skilled, it can make a difference. But I think that’s why the track appeals to so many people and they have it as one of their favorite tracks in the world. When we go there for our Le Mans testing, we are testing low-downforce packages. That is the key to a fast lap time at Le Mans. I think we’ll run the cars a little differently for this race because we will make everything 100 percent for Road America and not Le Mans.”

OLIVER GAVIN, NO. 4 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

“It’s one of those circuits that as long as you are using a bit of controlled aggression and you’re pushing the limits – maybe you have to exit and use a little bit of curb here and there – it does make a difference. You can chip away and gain ground on the car in front. It is a tough track to race. It presents a compromise between how much downforce you run to how little drag you want. There are some circumstances where you can go around Road America quicker in a low-downforce setting versus a high-downforce setup. So you have both ends of the spectrum where certain cars are quicker in certain sections due to the amounts of downforce and drag. It’s a perfect mix.”

TOMMY MILNER, NO. 4 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

“While there is quite a bit of start-stop and some hard brake zones, Road America still has a great flow and rhythm to it. As we’ve seen over the years, it’s a great track for us. Because we have these big brake zones, it allows us to make our passing opportunities. It’s a great track for sports car racing and one that has a lot of history. We tested the car before Le Mans in quite a different spec than what we would run for outright lap time at Road America, which is basically adding downforce to the car. That seems to be the quicker way around the track. You wouldn’t run as much as you would at a place like Long Beach but certainly a lot more than what we ran at the test earlier this year. But you can pull some information from the tires we ran on the test days and how the responded to the track surface; that sort of data is helpful.”

DOUG FEHAN, CORVETTE RACING PROGRAM MANAGER

“There are so many reasons to love Road America, not the least of which is the racing. Four miles of extreme speed, huge elevation changes and some of the greatest corners in North America make this place one of our favorites. Not to mention this is the site of the very first Corvette Corral. Our fans here know exactly what challenges we are now facing. Rest assured, we are going to collect as many points as we possible can to stay atop the rankings in the run for our third straight championship.”

PROTOTYPE QUOTES

RICHARD WESTBROOK, NO. 90 SPIRIT OF DAYTONA CORVETTE DP

“Road America is one of my favorites. For me, it's the North American version of Spa Francorchamps. We always have had good pace in Elkhart Lake but Lady Luck has not been on our side the last two years. Road America has a bit of everything: some slow-speed and high-speed corners including the Carousel, which is one of the best corners out there. Good aero balance is key for this corner but it is very hard on the tires. With our recent strong runs, we are in the title hunt so another podium will be needed to continue to stay in contention for the last two events.”

MICHAEL VALIANTE, NO. 90 SPIRIT OF DAYTONA CORVETTE DP

“With so few races left, we have to keep pushing hard to close the gap in points. Road America is a great track and getting a good lap in there is awesome for the drivers. I think the Kink is probably my favorite corner.”

JIM LUTZ, CORVETTE DAYTONA PROTOTYPE PROGRAM MANAGER

“Road America is one of North America’s great race tracks. Winning there is no easy task, and everyone within the Corvette DP program is anxious to make that happen this year. Its long straightaways mix with a combination of low- to medium-speed corners and high-speed bends that the mettle of every driver. The key to success at Road America is aerodynamic balance – the amount of downforce and drag a team chooses. As always, we’ve worked with our partners at Pratt & Miller, ECR and our teams to develop the best possible optimum setup for our Corvette DPs.”

CORVETTE RACING AT INDIANAPOLIS: Action Express Kisses The Bricks

Barbosa, Fittipaldi give Corvette first Indy win; Corvette C7.Rs place fourth and fifth in GTLM

· Fuel strategy makes the different for No. 5 Action Express Corvette DP

· Podium streak continues for Westbrook, Valiante

· Garcia, Magnussen maintain GTLM championship lead

INDIANAPOLIS (July 25, 2014) – Joao Barbosa and Christian Fittipaldi made history Friday by taking the Corvette brand to Victory Lane at Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the first time. The duo drove their No. 5 Action Express Racing Corvette Daytona Prototype to a win in the Brickyard Grand Prix for the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship.

The Action Express team chose to gamble on fuel at the end of the race and went the last 52-plus minutes on the same tank of fuel as Barbosa took the win by 48.964 seconds. It was the first win at The Brickyard for the Corvette DP program.

In GT Le Mans, Corvette Racing’s two Chevrolet Corvette C7.Rs finished fourth and fifth in their first race at Indianapolis.

"Today's win by Joao Barbosa and Christian Fittipaldi in the No. 5 Action Express Corvette DP was a great example of teamwork,” said Jim Campbell, Chevrolet U.S. Vice President, Performance Vehicles and Motorsports. “Joao and Christian optimized their performance while also managing fuel efficiency each lap. Smart driving, fuel management and crisp pit stops resulted with their first win at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. It was great to watch the team kiss the bricks after the win.

“Also congratulations to Richard Westbrook and Michael Valiante on their streak of four straight podiums including one win in the No. 90 Spirit of Daytona Corvette DP.

“The No. 3 and No. 4 Corvette C7.R drivers and crews again demonstrated their ‘never-give-up attitude with strong runs that netted them fourth and fifth finishing positions despite numerous challenges during the race,” Campbell added. “It was a total team effort focusing on maximizing their opportunity for good finishes and championship points.”

Corvette DP: Fuel Strategy Wins Out for Action Express Racing

The race both started well and ended well for Action Express Racing. Fittipaldi in the No. 5 Corvette DP led from the outset, going from fourth at the start to first after the first two corners. At the end, Fittipaldi and Barbosa added an Indianapolis victory to go with their season-opening triumph in the Rolex 24 At Daytona.

Michael Valiante and Richard Westbrook made it two Corvette DPs on the podium. They were third in the No. 90 Spirit of Daytona Racing entry. Through eight races, Corvette DPs have been on the class podium 14 times.

The result increased Chevrolet’s lead in the Prototype engine manufacturer championship. Fittipaldi and Barbosa also moved back into the lead of the driver’s standings ahead of Wayne Taylor Racing’s Jordan Taylor and Ricky Taylor, who teamed to finish fourth.

GTLM: Fourth and Fifth in First Visit

Antonio Garcia and fellow class championship leader Jan Magnussen saw their four-race winning streak in the TUDOR Championship’s GT Le Mans (GTLM) class come to an end with a fourth-place finish. Magnussen in the No. 3 Corvette C7.R was running in the top-five early before he was hit by a slower car and spun just past the 20-minute mark.

After dropping back to 10th after the collision, Magnussen worked his back up to third before handing off to Garcia with 53 minutes left. The Spaniard was able to maneuver around Oliver Gavin in the No. 4 Corvette for fourth in the closing minutes.

Gavin and Tommy Milner went from 10th in class at the start to finish fifth. It was the best result for the duo in the No. 4 Corvette C7.R since a third-place showing at Long Beach in April. Milner gained four spots in the first 10 laps and held a steady pace throughout.

Garcia and Magnussen maintained their lead in the GTLM driver’s championship, as did Chevrolet in the auto manufacturer standings.

The next round of the TUDOR Championship is set for Sunday, Aug. 10 from Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wis.

PROTOTYPE QUOTES

JOAO BARBOSA, NO. 5 ACTION EXPRESS RACING CORVETTE DP

"I was saving fuel the whole time once I go in the car. We knew that would be the difference between one less pit stop at the end. That proved to be just a perfect decision. I was struggling a little bit in the beginning. It was hard to keep the other cars behind me. I was able to keep a good pace. The Corvette DP was awesome. Action Express did an excellent strategy, excellent pit stops and gave me the lead at the end for the last hour. I was able to manage the fuel consumption, the traffic, avoid mistakes and bring it home. I am very proud of winning at Indy with such a great bunch of guys at Action Express. It is awesome to win here - such a great place with such great history. To win Daytona and Indy in the same year - what an unbelievable achievement and feeling."

CHRISTIAN FITTIPALDI, NO. 5 ACTION EXPRESS RACING CORVETTE DP

"It was definitely a smart, exciting race. Action Express gave me a very, very good car. We had the consistency; we had the speed throughout the race. I just had to keep it cool at the beginning of the race for my stint. I had to push but couldn't afford to make any mistakes. Obviously Joao went out for a longer stint, and he did an excellent job, and he brought it home. We are really, really happy. This took a monkey off of our back, like we were knocking at the door a couple of times. I don't know what to say. It is fantastic And I think we are unofficially back in P1 in the points right now. It couldn't have been better."

MICHAEL VALIANTE, NO. 90 SPIRIT OF DAYTONA CORVETTE DP

"We came here not with a great car, and the team did a fantastic job making as many gains as we could before the race. We were close. Richard and I talked and wanted to make sure we got on the podium today because we didn't think we had the car to win. We achieved that goal, but we are going to have to roll off the truck better the next couple of rounds if we want to contend for a championship. We have a four-race streak going, but we want to be back on top."

RICHARD WESTBROOK, NO. 90 SPIRIT OF DAYTONA CORVETTE DP

"We are just keeping this incredible run going. Since Detroit, we've been on the podium - second, first, second and now third. That is where we need to be if we want to be vying for the championship. That is our goal now. So yes, I am pretty happy. It would have been nice to have a bit more pace. We'll come after them at Road America. It was so close at the end. It was a tough one, but it has been a good Indy for us compared to last year. It is just 200 percent better."

JIM LUTZ, CORVETTE DAYTONA PROTOTYPE PROGRAM MANAGER

“Congratulations to Action Express Racing, Joao Barbosa and Christian Fittipaldi on their second victory of the season. It took a terrific team effort by the drivers, engineers and crew to put the Corvette Daytona Prototype in Victory Circle both at Daytona and now at Indianapolis. Having two Corvette DPs on the podium here is no small feat. More importantly, Chevrolet was able to extend its engine manufacturer points lead heading to Road America.”

GTLM QUOTES

ANTONIO GARCIA, NO. 3 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

“Who knows… (without the contact) we may could have fought for the podium at the end. We’ve been fighting really hard the whole season to be up there. We were not necessarily the fastest but we did it by being smart. Today we had probably the slowest car out there and still managed to place fourth and fifth. I hope there will be a time where there will be a Corvette fight like we had except for P1 and P2. It was fun and really good but would be even better if it was for a win.”

JAN MAGNUSSEN, NO. 3 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

“It was such a shame about the contact out there. I'm not sure what happened. I think the guy on the inside lost it and hit me, and spun me around. Up until then, the car was pretty decent. We were fighting with everybody. Traffic was really bad out there. It is really, really hard to do anything other than follow the guy ahead. I don't know if the car got damage, but it seemed we lost a little bit after the contact. We'll have to maximize our points score today. Hopefully we will have a better race at Road America."

OLIVER GAVIN, NO. 4 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

“I think we’re gaining on the car. Chuck Houghton (No. 4 engineer) worked pretty hard on that overnight. Tommy drove a great first stint. It was pretty crazy there especially when Jan spun around, there was a lot of smoke everywhere and Tommy did a great job of missing that. When I got in, we knew it was going to be tough to the end fighting with Antonio. I had a little bit of a braking issue. I got balked up in traffic too on one lap and Antonio got by. This track makes for hectic and crazy racing. Both our cars finished with plenty of bumps and scraped. We certainly made some progress and it was good to get a good, solid fifth place with no problems. Onward to Road America to see what we can get there.”

TOMMY MILNER, NO. 4 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

"That was a long stint but a lot of fun. Sometimes you are in the car for a long time, whatever that was, and you are racing nobody or anything, and it is boring. But that was the complete opposite of boring. That was chaos. It was just madness on the race track everywhere...every lap. There may have been three or four laps total that I did that were very calm. But it was a lot of fun. The car felt good, so the guys did a great job getting the car to where it needed to be for the race."

CORVETTE RACING AT INDIANAPOLIS: Garcia Qualifies Sixth in GTLM
Action Express Racing’s Christian Fittipaldi fourth-fastest in prototype qualifying

· Antonio Garcia leads the way for Corvette Racing qualifying sixth – second through sixth separated by one tenth of a second

· Christian Fittipaldi fastest Corvette Daytona Prototype driver in No. 5 Corvette DP

· All Chevrolet Corvette DPs post top 10 qualifying efforts

INDIANAPOLIS (July 24, 2014) – Corvette Racing’s two Chevrolet Corvette C7.Rs qualified sixth and 10th for Friday’s Brickyard Grand Prix at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Antonio Garcia was sixth-quickest Thursday in qualifying with a lap of 1:22.593 (106.309 mph) in the No. 3 Chevrolet Corvette C7.R he drives with Jan Magnussen.

The Garcia/Magnussen pairing enters the race as the championship leaders in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship’s GT Le Mans (GTLM) class, and Chevrolet leads in GTLM manufacturer points. The No. 3 Corvette is on a four-race winning streak in GTLM – Long Beach, Laguna Seca, Watkins Glen and Canadian Tire Motorsports Park.

Tommy Milner was 10th on Thursday in the No. 4 Corvette C7.R with a lap of 1:23.237 (105.487 mph). Corvette Racing will take the green flag for the first time at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Giancarlo Fisichella was the fastest qualifier in GTLM at 1:22.378 (106.587 mph).

Fittipaldi, Action Express Racing to Start on Second Row

Action Express Racing led the Corvette Daytona Prototype contingent in Prototype qualifying Thursday. Christian Fittipaldi piloted the No. 5 Corvette DP to a fourth-place starting position with a time of 1:18.102 (112.422 mph).

Fittipaldi and co-driver Joao Barbosa are looking for their second victory of the season after taking the a season-opening victory in the Rolex 24 At Daytona. Richard Westbrook and Michael Valiante in the No. 90 Spirit of Daytona Corvette DP posted the fifth quickest time of Thursday’s qualifying session with a lap of 1:18.188 (112.299). The paring notched a victory earlier this season at Watkins Glen.

Jordan Taylor was seventh in qualifying in the No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Corvette DP. Eric Curran rounded out the Chevrolet-powered cars in the top 10. Curran will pilot the No. 31 Marsh Racing Corvette DP from the ninth starting spot. Ryan Dalziel was the fastest qualifier at 1:17.603 (113.145 mph).

Live television coverage of the Brickyard Grand Prix starts at 5:30 p.m. ET, Friday on FOX Sports 1.

GTLM QUOTES

ANTONIO GARCIA, NO. 3 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

ON HIS QUALIFYING RUN:
“We were two tenths off which I think I proved again that we took 100 percent out of what we had. So we have confidence toward the race. Anything can happen so we might be sixth, but we are only a tenth off second. It’s very close out there. There is a lot to be gained or lost in traffic. I think that is where Corvette Racing will gain on everybody, and if we run a smart race we can go for a fifth victory.”

THIS IS THE FIRST TIME YOU’VE RACED ON THIS TRACK. ARE THERE A LOT OF GOOD PASSING ZONES?
“I don’t know. I never run really tight or really close with other GTLM cars. I think traffic is going to be the key thing – not only speed. I think the traffic factor will be more than 50 percent of the race.”

TOMMY MILNER, NO. 4 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R
ON HIS QUALIFYING RUN:
“It’s first time here for us, and we obviously came here this weekend with some rules changes that were pretty much stacked against us. The No. 3 Corvette C7.R guys have been fast all year, qualifying up front. Now they can do no better than sixth. We are obviously on the back foot there, but I think we just missed it with the setup on our car. We were okay earlier today. We have been struggling all year a little bit with pace in our car. I think we got a little bit off plan with what we kind of set out to do this weekend. It seemed to work but I think it hurt us here in qualifying. It’s so close in GTLM that if you have a bad session,, that is it and you are at the back. It’s not where you want to be, but the car seemed good in practice on old tires compared to our competitors. It seemed like we were quick. At least from last there is nowhere else to go but up. That is what I’m looking forward to tomorrow.”

PROTOTYPE QUOTES

CHRISTIAN FITTIPALDI, NO. 5 ACTION EXPRESS RACING CORVETTE DP

ON HIS QUALIFYING RUN:
“It was good. I think we made progress during the whole day. I hadn’t been here so the track was new to me. Although I had been here last year there had been a couple of changes. We came up to speed pretty good. We did decent strategy in qualifying. We waited three or four minutes to go out. I think it was the right thing to do. I hit a little bit of traffic. I can’t complain. Maybe my limit here today was a 1:17.8, but I wasn’t going to run a 1:17.6 – no way. We will get them tomorrow. We have a fast Corvette DP. We know who we are fighting against in points. Just go for the battle tomorrow.”

CORVETTE RACING AT INDIANAPOLIS: Looking to Kiss the Bricks For First Time

First race at IMS for Corvette Racing team; Corvette DPs going for first Brickyard GP win

· Corvette Racing visits IMS for first time riding four-race GTLM win streak

· Corvette Daytona Prototype teams claimed pole positions in previous two IMS rounds

· Chevrolet continues to lead both Prototype, GTLM manufacturer championships

DETROIT (July 22, 2014) – There is no shortage of Chevrolet racing history at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. It dates all the back to 1920 with Gaston Chevrolet’s victory in the Indy 500. More than 90 years later, a new page will go into the history book with Corvette Racing’s first race at the famed circuit. The team’s two Chevrolet Corvette C7.Rs will race alongside four Corvette Daytona Prototypes in Friday’s Brickyard Grand Prix for the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship.

The inaugural season of the TUDOR Championship has been a good one so far for Chevrolet and the Corvette brand. Chevy leads both the Prototype engine manufacturer championship and the auto manufacturer standings in GT Le Mans (GTLM).

Corvette Racing: Another New Stop

Antonio Garcia and Jan Magnussen ride a four-race win streak with their No. 3 Corvette C7.R into Indianapolis. The duo hasn’t lost since the Long Beach round in April and have surged into the lead of the class’ driver’s championship. They won the American Le Mans Series’ GT championship in 2013.

Garcia has raced once at Indianapolis – 2012 for Spirit of Daytona Racing in a Corvette DP where he finished ninth in class with Richard Westbrook. Magnussen, with experience in nearly every major championship around the world including Formula One, has not been to Indy before… much less raced there. Taking their Corvette to a new venue worked out well earlier when they won in team’s first visit to Watkins Glen last month.

In the No. 4 Corvette C7.R, Tommy Milner has experience racing at Indianapolis during the 2004 Formula BMW season. Teammate Oliver Gavin has not raced there in his storied career. The Gavin/Milner pairing stand fourth in GTLM points and come to the Brickyard in search of their first victory of the season. Their Corvette has suffered from a chassis imbalance that the team worked to remedy following the last TUDOR Championship race at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

Corvette DP: Hoping for a Brickyard Breakthrough

Four Corvette Daytona Prototypes are looking to put Chevrolet in Victory Circle for the first time at the Brickyard. It would add to a season that has seen Corvette DPs sweep the overall podium at the Rolex 24 At Daytona and win twice more in the TUDOR Championship.

Speed has been no issue for the Corvette DP at the Brickyard. Jon Fogarty was the fastest qualifier in the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series’ inaugural Indy round in 2012, and Jordan Taylor followed with pole position last season. The best result in each season was third place: Ricky Taylor and Max Angelelli in 2012 for SunTrust Racing, and Jordan Taylor and Angelelli in 2013.

The Taylors hold the lead in the Prototype driver’s standings and have finished on the podium in four of the last five races. Action Express Racing’s duo of Joao Barbosa and Christian Fittipaldi are second.

Richard Westbrook and Michael Valiante will try to keep their string of strong runs going for Spirit of Daytona Racing. The pairing won at Watkins Glen and came in second at Detroit and Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. In the Marsh Racing Corvette DP, Eric Curran will drive alongside Burt Frisselle, who replaces the injured Boris Said.

Live television coverage of the Brickyard Grand Prix starts at 5:30 p.m. ET, Friday on FOX Sports 1.

GTLM QUOTES

ANTONIO GARCIA, NO. 3 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

“It’s a new track for most of us, and it’s new for GTLM. We need to work on learning the track layout and how the surface will work with our car and gathering as much information and data as possible to prepare and have a good car right away. The first session is going to be a time to learn and retrieve as much information as possible to go forward from then on. It will be a time where track time is important. The way you anticipate and work your way to a setup has to be spot-on. It isn’t that different than what we faced at Watkins Glen. We came in with a good, basic setup to start with but we had to work a lot to get the car really good from practice to the race. The entire team worked hard to make that possible and we expect the same for Indy.”

JAN MAGNUSSEN, NO. 3 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

“It will be a new track for me. Being such a short weekend, there is a lot of pressure to make the most of things, get in there and get to know the track. It will be good to go to Indy. I’ve never been, even as a spectator, so it will be a really cool experience. . When you’ve been driving for as long as I have, you don’t get to go to a lot of new places. You usually always have some experience in one car or another. So that will be nice. If we can carry on how we have so far with our Corvette, it will be a fantastic first weekend.“

OLIVER GAVIN, NO. 4 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R – QUALIFIED 4TH

“I was at Indianapolis a couple of years ago for a GRAND-AM race and got to drive the track briefly in a safety car but I didn’t run there at all. I believe the circuit has been modified a little bit since then. It’s an amazing place with so much history. It has that coliseum feel and should be interesting for us to go there. I don’t know how the circuit will suit our form of racing. But it will be good to go there. This is obviously something that Corvette Racing has been keen to do since the two series came together. We are getting to go to these great tracks and places like Daytona, Watkins Glen and now Indy. That’s only good for everybody in the series. Everyone is excited.”

TOMMY MILNER, NO. 4 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R – QUALIFIED 4TH

“For us to go for the first time with our Corvettes to Indianapolis is pretty special. It’s a great facility with a lot of history. Hopefully we can build some history of our own there. In my case, I’ve raced there before so some of the layout is similar so it’s not all new to me although a lot of it is. It will be the first time there for all of us in the GTLM class so we’re all going in kind of blind. These days with all the simulations that we have all the engineering programs that we and everyone else in our class has, we should have a setup that is pretty close and then it will be up to us drivers. It will take us a little longer to fine-tune our driving lines and brake points. But it’s a fun challenge and a phenomenal race track. The history there is incredible.”

DOUG FEHAN, CORVETTE RACING PROGRAM MANAGER

“There aren’t many race circuits in the world with a history as deep as Indianapolis. For more than 100 years, it has been a focal point of the American racing landscape. Having the opportunity to bring the Chevrolet Corvette C7.R – in its first season – to race in front of such a knowledgeable and passionate fans and Corvette owners is a tremendous opportunity. Chevrolet has a prodigious history at IMS. We are excited to write a new chapter in Indianapolis and Corvette Racing history!”

PROTOTYPE QUOTES

JOAO BARBOSA, NO. 5 ACTION EXPRESS RACING CORVETTE DP

“We’re expecting to win at Indy because that is always our team motto – expect to win. It’s not going to be easy because this championship is very competitive. But we had a very good test at the track. We have a very good car and team so I’m confident we can get back on the podium soon.”

JORDAN TAYLOR, NO. 10 WAYNE TAYLOR RACING CORVETTE DP

“The track has a few changes from the last time we raced there. We've got a slightly different configuration and it's been resurfaced on the infield. I always enjoy going to this race, and I've always enjoyed driving on the track. It's got mostly low-speed corners but can make for a different challenge to get the lap time out of it. It offers a pretty big challenge to the engineer as you're mostly in low-speed corners through the infield, then it's offset by the long front straight.”

BURT FRISSELLE, NO. 31 MARSH RACING CORVETTE DP

“I hope to jump in and help make this unexpected driver change as smooth and seamless as possible. I'm thrilled to be back racing at such a historic venue in the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and then one of the best circuits in the United States at Road America. I am grateful that Action Express Racing gave me their blessing to join Marsh Racing for the next two rounds and I'll give Marsh Racing, my co-driver Eric Curran and the No. 31 Whelen Corvette my absolute best effort!”

TROY FLIS, TEAM OWNER, NO. 90 SPIRIT OF DAYTONA CORVETTE DP

“We didn’t quite get off to the start we wanted at the beginning of the season but it seems we’ve found our stride and the results are finally reflecting what this team is capable of. We have a couple of these Indianapolis races under our belts now and we’re ready to go. It would be incredibly special to win at the Brickyard and to be the ones kissing the bricks at the end!”

JIM LUTZ, CORVETTE DAYTONA PROTOTYPE PROGRAM MANAGER

“It is always an honor for our Corvette Daytona Prototype teams to race at Indianapolis. Chevrolet power has a rich history at IMS and hopefully another chapter is added this weekend. The circuit is somewhat different than what we saw in GRAND-AM the last two years. The new layout with a chicane on the speedway oval, should move the advantage in the race to the P2 machines. Our Corvette DPs were fast on the previous configuration as evidenced by consecutive pole positions. It should be another competitive and exciting race in the Prototype class.”

CORVETTE RACING IN CANADA: Garcia, Magnussen Earn Hard-Fought GTLM Win

Corvette DPs take two spots on overall podium at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park

· Second victory in a row at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park for Corvette Racing

· Westbrook, Valiante finish second overall for Spirit of Daytona

· Chevrolet maintains leads in both Prototype, GTLM manufacturer championships

BOWMANVILLE, Ontario, Canada (July 13, 2014) – Antonio Garcia and Jan Magnussen kept the momentum going for Corvette Racing and the Chevrolet Corvette C7.R with a victory Sunday in the Mobil 1 Sports Car Grand Prix presented by Hawk Performance at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

Garcia, Magnussen and the No. 3 Corvette C7.R won their fourth consecutive race in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship’s GT Le Mans class. Garcia finished 11 seconds clear of the second-place Viper as he and Magnussen extended their lead in the GTLM driver’s championship, along with Chevrolet’s and Corvette Racing’s advantage in class manufacturer and team points, respectively.

“Today was an exciting day for Corvette Racing at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park,” said Jim Campbell, Chevrolet U.S. Vice President, Performance Vehicles and Motorsports. “The win in the GTLM class did not come easily. Strategy, teamwork and persistence of Antonio Garcia, Jan Magnussen and the Corvette Racing crew were key to the win. The No. 3 Chevrolet Corvette C7.R also showed improved performance each time it was on the track throughout the weekend.”

Magnussen started and ran second for the majority of his stint before the class leader went off track just before the first round of pit stops. Magnussen pitted a lap later and handed off to Garcia, who had to fend off several challenges from the Viper before race traffic stabilized the Corvette’s advantage.

“Congratulations to Antonio, Jan and the Corvette Racing team on a hard-fought and well-earned victory today,” said Mark Kent, Director of Chevrolet Racing. “It took strategy, skill and even just a little luck. Today’s result is a tremendous achievement and continues to grow the championship lead in the GT Le Mans class.”

The story was not as bright for the No. 4 Corvette of Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner. Running third 30 laps into the race, Milner was hit and spun by a slower GT Daytona car in heavy traffic at the exit of Turn 3. Milner had light contact with the tire barrier but was able to continue albeit in sixth position. Gavin and Milner, last year’s winners at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, finished seventh class.

Spirit of Daytona, Wayne Taylor Racing Finish on Overall Podium

Corvette Daytona Prototypes filled two of the three podium positions in the TUDOR Championship’s Prototype class as Michael Valiante and Richard Westbrook placed second in the first race at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park for the Corvette DPs.

The finish for No. 90 Spirit of Daytona Corvette DP backed up its victory two weeks ago at Watkins Glen. Wayne Taylor Racing’s Jordan Taylor and Ricky Taylor were third Sunday and maintained their lead in the Prototype driver’s championship standings.

The two Corvette DPs battled in the final 30 minutes with the cars running nose-to-tail for multiple laps before Westbrook began to pull away slightly in the waning moments.

Oak Racing was the race’s overall race winner.

The next round of the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship is the Brickyard Grand Prix, set for 5:45 p.m. ET on Friday, July 25 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

GTLM QUOTES

ANTONIO GARCIA, NO. 3 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R – GTLM RACE WINNER

WHAT IT IS ABOUT THIS PLACE THAT SEEMS TO WORK WELL FOR THE CORVETTE?
"I don't know, but we end up winning. As you see, last year and this year it was really close between us and the Viper. During the first stint, we were bumper-to-bumper. During the second one, I went out with a little bit of a lead – like three seconds. The most it went was eight seconds because of traffic. So it was really hard. (Before the race) I was expecting safety cars. And I was also counting on them to help save just a tiny bit of tires to have at the end. But everything ran perfect. The Corvette Racing team did a perfect job everywhere, in every single situation."

JAN MAGNUSSEN, NO. 3 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R – GTLM RACE WINNER

THREE MONTHS AGO WOULD YOU EVER OF THOUGHT THAT WE WOULD BE TALKING ABOUT THE NO. 3 CORVETTE C7.R HAVING FOUR WINS IN A ROW?

“No, not in this category. It’s such a tough category and every tenth of a second counts. For us to be here now with four wins in a row is just an absolutely fantastic result. We owe it all to the team and everybody behind Corvette Racing to first of all give us a fantastic race car, but also making sure that it runs every time. Our engineers are making really good decisions every time we are racing. I’m just super pleased and very proud to be part of this.”

OLIVER GAVIN, NO. 4 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R – FINISHED 7TH
ON THE RACE

“We came into the weekend confident but today despite a tremendous effort by everyone at Corvette Racing, we again faced frustrating challenges. It seems that no matter what we try, nothing is giving us the positive results we need to turn this season around. That combined with Tommy’s unfortunate hit by a slower car is the epitome of our season. Our luck has to turn around at some point. Hopefully it comes at Indianapolis.”

TOMMY MILNER, NO. 4 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R – FINISHED 7TH
ON HIS STINT AND ON-TRACK INCIDENT

“We came up on two slow guys in GTD cars who didn’t know where they were or what they were doing. They caused a big pile of cars behind them. There was nowhere for me to go and nowhere for anyone to go. They were kind of two-wide and just blocking the road. I had a little bit of a gap for the two or three GTD cars that were behind me. I got a decent run through Turn 2 and the guy in the Ferrari just came up on the situation; he may have gotten squeezed a little bit by one of the other cars in the group. It obviously wasn’t on purpose but it was a bad situation made by two guys who didn’t know what was going on. It’s like they were saying, ‘You go ahead. No you go ahead. No you go ahead.’ Then what happens is that I get hit from behind. That’s sort of our luck this year.”

DOUG FEHAN, CORVETTE RACING PROGRAM MANAGER

“Anybody who watched the Watkins Glen race would have to notice the similarities between there and Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. The tracks are both very quick. The No. 3 Chevrolet Corvette C7.R crew simply has it figured out. The car is hooked up, the drivers are performing flawlessly and the crew showed a total team effort with great pit stops. If you look at the traffic at the end, Antonio was masterful working his way through it. That’s what really created the opportunity to win. It was just a great opportunity by everyone on this team.”

PROTOTYPE QUOTES

MICHAEL VALIANTE, NO. 90 SPIRIT OF DAYTONA CORVETTE DP – FINISHED 2ND

“We had some gearbox issues on the downshifts early on. I got passed by (Christian) Fittipaldi; it just wasn’t selecting the lower gear. It seemed to be OK as long as we are patient with the downshift. Other than that, the car had good pace. On the first stop we had an issue and lost about 12 seconds. But I knew then we had the pace to finish second or third.”

RICHARD WESTBROOK, NO. 90 SPIRIT OF DAYTONA CORVETTE DP – FINISHED 2ND

"It was pretty good racing with Jordan (Taylor).I don't race hard enough with him. We always seem to avoid each other on the track. So it is good to have a battle with him. It is a good day for us. P2 - we'll take that. It was nice to put the No. 42 (Nissan Morgan -winner) under some pressure. You never know. He had a quite comfortable spot but I wanted to put some sort of pressure because with all the traffic, you never know what a little bit of pressure can do. It wasn't our today, but it was really enjoyable racing. My first time at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, and I actually loved it."

RICKY TAYLOR, NO. 10 WAYNE TAYLOR RACING CORVETTE DP – FINISHED 3RD

"I'm okay. I've had a virus for the last three or four days and I haven't really been keeping up with my fluids, but I'm okay. The medical center guys took care of me, I'm fine. It was a good day. We got good points. The 90 (Spirit of Daytona Corvette DP) gained on us. They are proving to be really strong this year. We'll go on to Indy and hopefully get back to our winning ways."

IT WAS A GOOD COMEBACK FROM AN EARLY OFF: "The off was not a good mistake. But, it worked out to be the perfect timing if you are going to have an off. It put us off sequence, but we still only had two stops, so it is good."

JORDAN TAYLOR, NO. 10 KONICA MINOLTA CHEVROLET CORVETTE DP – FINISHED 3RD

“It was a tough race. We were flat-out the whole time. We were off strategy so we had to push really hard and it was tough. The car wasn’t the fastest so we were fighting a lot. We were happy to get track position in front of the No. 90 (Spirit of Daytona Corvette), but it was just a matter of time for them to get by us. We had no chance to battle the No. 42 or the No. 1 car. Considering how bad of a day it was, it was pretty good for the points.”

JIM LUTZ, CHEVROLET DAYTONA PROTOTYPE PROGRAM MANAGER

“Second and third in the first race for the Corvette Daytona Prototype at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park are solid results. As we suspected, the track ended up favoring the P2 cars but our teams still came through with great efforts. We are glad to maintain the championship lead in the Prototype engine manufacturer standings and head to Indianapolis with continued momentum.”

CORVETTE RACING IN CANADA: Garcia Second in GTLM to Lead Qualifying Efforts

Gavin fourth in GTLM; Westbrook third in Prototype qualifying

· Garcia, Magnussen on GTLM front-row for shot at fourth straight win

· Westbrook third overall in Spirit of Daytona Corvette DP

· Chevrolet leads both Prototype, GTLM manufacturer championships

BOWMANVILLE, Ontario, Canada (July 12, 2014) – Corvette Racing’s two Chevrolet Corvette C7.Rs qualified second and fourth for Sunday’s Mobil 1 Sports Grand Prix presented by Hawk Performance at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. Antonio Garcia was second-quickest Saturday in qualifying with a lap of 1:15.278 (117.596 mph) in the No. 3 Corvette C7.R he drives with Jan Magnussen.

The Garcia/Magnussen pairing enters the race as the championship leaders in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship’s GT Le Mans (GTLM) class, and Chevrolet leads in GTLM manufacturer points. The No. 3 Corvette is on a three-race winning streak in GTLM – Long Beach, Laguna Seca and Watkins Glen.

Oliver Gavin was fourth Saturday in the No. 4 Corvette C7.R with a lap of 1:15.470 (117.297 mph). He and teammate Tommy Milner won last year’s race in a thrilling finish.

Kuno Wittmer was the fastest qualifier in GTLM at 1:15.206 (117.709 mph).

Westbrook, Spirit of Daytona to Start on Second Row

Spirit of Daytona Racing led the Corvette DP contingent in Prototype qualifying Saturday, thanks to Richard Westbrook’s time of 1:09.642 (127.113 mph) in the No. 90 Corvette Daytona Prototype. This is the first time at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park for Westbrook and a number of the Corvette DP drivers.

Westbrook and Michael Valiante won the most recent round of the TUDOR Championship two weeks ago at Watkins Glen. It was the second straight race victory for the Corvette DP and third of the season.

Christian Fittipaldi was fifth in qualifying in the No. 5 Action Express Racing Corvette DP with a lap of 1:10.298 (125.927 mph). Gustavo Yacaman was the fastest qualifier at 1:09.167 (127.986 mph).

Live television coverage of the Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix presented by Hawk Performance starts at 2 p.m. ET, Sunday on FOX Sports 1.

GTLM QUOTES

ANTONIO GARCIA, NO. 3 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R – QUALIFIED 2ND

“We definitely wanted to get pole again. But the track was really different to what we found in practices. It was very difficult to interpret how the car would behave. It was probably warmer and different rubber was down, and probably we were expecting something else on the track. It was very tricky to modify your driving style to the conditions. I think probably I didn’t do a particularly super good lap and probably putting together a good lap I think we could have gotten pole. But that probably happened to everybody, not just me. They were tricky conditions for everybody, but tomorrow is another day. I think it’s going to rain. We just need to concentrate on that. We will see if it rains in warm-up so we can get some information on this track in the wet and if not just do what we always do at Corvette Racing - just try to get in front and interpret what the conditions are going to be like and just try to get the most out of the C7.R.”

OLIVER GAVIN, NO. 4 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R – QUALIFIED 4TH

“I think that we have worked away at it this weekend. Tommy, I and our car have had a difficult few races. We have managed to get to the bottom of it - the chassis imbalance - so now the car is a lot more predictable. We have fixed a lot of that, but now we are playing catch-up with running a setup that is a little bit alien to us. But the car was pretty fast and pretty good. We took a bit of a stab at the setup for qualifying, again because we are still playing a little bit of catchup. It wasn’t bad in some areas but by no means perfect. I think everybody has got one eye on the weather. Thinking about, ‘OK well how was the car in qualifying and really how is it going to be in the rain tomorrow.’ I think nearly every single weather forecast we have looked at has given us like 90 percent chance of rain. I think that at some point in the race tomorrow it will be wet. This place in the rain it’s going to be fun.”

PROTOTYPE QUOTE

RICHARD WESTBROOK, NO. 90 SPIRIT OF DAYTONA CORVETTE DP – QUALIFIED 3RD

“When you first get out of the car and they say P3, you feel a bit miserable because when you are out and qualifying and racing, you want to be at the front and starting on the front row. But when I reflect on it we have to be happy with that. It’s not necessarily a track that is perfect for our car, so to be that close I’m delighted. It shows how far we have come in a short space of time. We seem to be consistently at the sharp end of the grid now. We need to continue that for the rest of the season.”

CORVETTE RACING IN CANADA: Aiming for Canadian Tire Motorsport Park Repeat

Team seeking fourth straight GT Le Mans victory in TUDOR Championship

· Gavin, Milner enter as defending race winners

· Garcia, Magnussen lead GTLM driver championship

· Watkins Glen victory moved Chevrolet into manufacturer points lead

DETROIT (July 9, 2014) – After winning a round of the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship at an unfamiliar venue, Corvette Racing heads this weekend to more recognizable surroundings. Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP) plays host to the TUDOR Championship as Corvette Racing goes for an 11th victory at the storied road course just outside Toronto.

Following a victory in the last round at Watkins Glen International, Corvette Racing will arrive at the circuit formerly known as Mosport International Raceway with championship leads in the TUDOR Championship’s GT Le Mans (GTLM) driver, team and manufacturer standings. Antonio Garcia and Jan Magnussen rank first in points after their third straight series victory but teammates Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner are the defending race winners.

Last season, Milner held on in a pressure-packed final stint to win by 0.267 seconds in the final year of the Corvette C6.R. This year’s race sees the Canadian debut of the Chevrolet Corvette C7.R, which has proven itself as a front-runner at each TUDOR Championship round to date.

Canadian Tire Motorsport Park is one of the most daunting on the schedule. The 2.459-mile, 10-turn layout is known for high speeds and high risks. The first three turns, drivers say, are among the biggest challenges on any track in North America.

The circuit has been like a second home to Corvette Racing since its first race there in 2000. Its 10 victories there are the most at any circuit – a tie with Road Atlanta – and the team has won two of the last three races there. Three of those wins were by Corvette Racing star and Canadian legend Ron Fellows, now a co-owner of Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

The character of the track hasn't changed much since its first race in 1961. Through the years, CTMP has played host to Can-Am, Formula 5000, USAC stock cars, IndyCar, Trans-Am, Formula Atlantic, and of course the American Le Mans Series and IMSA. Most notably, the circuit was the site of the Formula One Canadian Grand Prix eight times between 1967-77.

Live television coverage of the Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix presented by Hawk Performance starts at 2 p.m. ET, Sunday on FOX Sports 1.

ANTONIO GARCIA, NO. 3 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

“Canadian Tire Motorsport Park is similar to Watkins Glen in that it is a track where you need good momentum over the lap. They are both classic circuits with a very old-school feel and very fast. For a driver, it is a big thrill to race there because of the speed and history. Corvette Racing has a strong history there with a number of wins and I hope Jan and I can continue that. It would be great to get my first victory there. Winning three races in the TUDOR Championship in the first year of the Corvette C7.R is remarkable. We knew we had a great team behind us and a good car that is being developed all the time. Even while we are racing, we continue to test new things.”

JAN MAGNUSSEN, NO. 3 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

“I do enjoy going to Mosport every year and I am glad it is part of the TUDOR Championship. It’s very fast and incredibly challenging especially on the first part of the lap – Turn 1 and Turn 2. You have to be fully committed each lap. It’s where I won my first sports car race in a prototype in the ALMS. So the track has been a good place for me and of course for Corvette Racing. We go there with a lot of momentum – more than I think we could have expected when the year started, I have to say. Three straight wins is a great feeling with the new Corvette C7.R. First in the driver, team and manufacturer championship is a good place to be.”

OLIVER GAVIN, NO. 4 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

“In a funny way, Watkins Glen should be a pretty good barometer for how things will go at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. You need downforce there to be quick, but you also have that very long backstraight where you need decent straight-line speed. It’s always a little bit of a toss-up between how you much downforce you run and how much drag you run. You have to decide before the start of the race which strategy you’re going to go with, particularly with where you are on the grid and whether you’re going to have pass cars or whether you feel you have the pace to drive away and fight from the front. There is plenty to think about going into the event and while we are there in order to maximize the performance of the Corvette C7.R. So it should be a fun weekend, as it always is.”

TOMMY MILNER, NO. 4 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

“It was a great race last year – one of the races I feel was one of my best. To have that much pressure from a car that was quicker than us in the Viper… pushing me hard and running qualifying laps for an hour. The last couple of laps were definitely exciting. I had a disabled car that slowed me up into Turn 1 and that allowed the gap I had built up to go back to basically zero. So over the last two laps I had to defend in a lot of places. I used every bit of road and every car I could on the last lap to try and stay ahead and was just barely able to. I don’t think I was able to breathe until after the checkered flag. It was definitely a great feeling. It came at a time where we had a couple of bad races, but Oliver and I had been pushing hard to get some points and it reinvigorated our championship challenge. We’re hoping for the same this coming weekend.”

DOUG FEHAN, CORVETTE RACING PROGRAM MANAGER

"When it comes to testing a driver's mettle, there is no more demanding track in North America than Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. It is super quick and may very well be the fastest track we visit all season...and, from my perspective, Turn Two is one of the most challenging corners in all of road racing. We have had some serious success there and this week's race should be a real shootout. I would encourage everyone to come out and see some great racing and all the improvements to Canada's best professional racing circuit."

CORVETTE RACING AT WATKINS GLEN: Third Straight Victory For Garcia, Magnussen

Win equals GT Le Mans championship leads; Gavin and Milner fourth after penalty

WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (June 29, 2014) – In its 15 years of existence, Sunday marked Corvette Racing’s first event at Watkins Glen International. The team made its debut one to remember with a dominating GT Le Mans (GTLM) victory in the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen for Antonio Garcia and Jan Magnussen in the No. 3 Chevrolet Corvette C7.R.

The duo led most of the day to earn their third straight class victory in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship. In the process, Garcia and Magnussen moved into the lead of the GTLM driver’s championship, as did Chevrolet in the manufacturer standings and the No. 3 Corvette C7.R in team points.

“The Corvette C7.R team's first race at Watkins Glen was exciting given the challenging track and intense competition that kept the pressure on all race,” said Jim Campbell, Chevrolet U.S. Vice President, Performance Vehicles and Motorsports. “Antonio and Jan drove a great race and the crew executed quick pit stops. We are thankful to come out of The Glen with a GTLM class win and the class championship lead.”

Garcia and Magnussen also won the third round of the Tequila Patrón North American Endurance Cup – a four-race championship made of the TUDOR series’ four endurance events.

The Garcia/Magnussen combination led 154 of the 185 GTLM laps. Magnussen drove the opening stint and took the lead from the pole-sitting BMW on the first lap. Despite holding as much as a 30-second lead at various points, the final minutes were tense ones. A full-course caution with 25 minutes left brought the Corvette inside its fuel window for the rest of the race. A final yellow period just after the restart meant a final-lap dash that saw Garcia hold off the second-place Viper by 0.185 seconds.

Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner finished fourth in their No. 4 Corvette C7.R after running second to their teammates for most of the day. A stop-and-go penalty inside the last hour for what race officials judged to be avoidable contact halted their podium charge.

The day wasn’t a complete loss. Gavin and Milner moved into the lead of the Patrón Endurance Challenge with just the 1,000-mile Petit Le Mans remaining at the end of the season.

The next round of the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship is the Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix presented by Hawk Performance from Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. The race, which Gavin and Milner won last year as part of the American Le Mans Series, is set for 2:05 p.m. ET on Sunday, June 13.

ANTONIO GARCIA, NO. 3 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

“The car was really good. I was running perfect. Jan (Magnussen) made perfect start and pulled a gap. Then we got a caution but we made the gap back up from zero to almost 20 seconds. Whenever I was able to go full-on we went up to almost a 30-second lead. Strategy-wise we were like two or three laps short (on fuel) I believe. We decided because the Viper … maybe they gambled a little bit more at the beginning so they were out of sequence to stretch their fuel to start with; they were good to go to the end. We decided to go too, and it was hard. To go through traffic, it was really difficult to save fuel. At the end we would have been OK to the end (without the last caution). That yellow obviously helped us a little bit more just in case. We weren’t really on it, but I believe Corvette Racing again did a perfect race. I think we led everything but qualifying.”

JAN MAGNUSSEN, NO. 3 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

“I have to say I am so pleased for how things have gone for the team this year, with the No. 3 car especially, but how we have developed a new car and we keep finding better things to do with it. We are finding better race speed over one lap over the whole distance and making the Michelin tires last for the whole stint. We have a fantastic race car. It’s a very competitive category and you have to be on your game with everything you do. There is no room for any mistakes otherwise you lose it.”

(First race in the Corvette C7.R at The Glen) “I have been here before in other categories, the GRAND-AM GT and also the GRAND-AM DPs earlier. Driving the Corvette C7.R around here is just a fantastic feeling. It’s such a fast race track. It’s almost like there is a part missing of the corner – normally you would have a big braking zone downshifts and everything getting the car ready to rotate and then shoot out the corner. Here that little bit is gone so basically for every corner you barely touch the brake, downshift, back to full throttle. It’s all about the momentum here to build the speed, and that is where dealing with all the traffic was very important; you didn’t get bogged down too much because it would kind of ruin your rhythm. I think both of us did that really well today.”

OLIVER GAVIN, NO. 4 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

“Certainly we made a step forward with the car after yesterday morning. We went back to basics with stuff, we changed a lot chassis-wise with the car. So was it the perfect setup? No because it was just really a bit of a stab at it, but it was good enough to race and be in the hunt. I genuinely think we should have had a second-place. Tommy (Milner) did a great job at the start and really got us in a fantastic position. It looked like we were going to be able to race cleanly for second.

(Race impressions) “On the double stint that I did, the first on the medium tire was good and I hung with Jan (Magnussen) pretty much. And then on the harder tire it was trickier. It made it a lot more difficult. But we were still there still in second-place looking like we were going to be able to fight for that and then Tommy (Milner) just got a crazy decision with the penalty. We went back and forth for a long time and it’s a great shame that it ruined our race. We went from second to fourth and I think we should have really had a second. That would have been a great result for the team and the guys. They worked so hard over the whole weekend.”

TOMMY MILNER, NO. 4 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

“First and foremost, I’m very proud of our guys. After Oliver (Gavin) and I were not very happy with the car in practice they put a lot of work into trying to fix the car and it seems like that we have done that. The car was certainly quite a bit better in the race. We were just kind of behind the eight ball – just needed some more practice time to kind of fine tune it, but I think we are back in the ballpark again. That is obviously really encouraging for going forward.

(Race impressions) The race was pretty good. I had a really fun start there. It was just a shame that I got a penalty for something that I don’t believe should have been a penalty. Obviously the race control saw it differently. We can only just move on and kind of put that behind us and be proud of what we achieved. Obviously a great job by the No. 3 car guys; they executed very well. Our guys did as well. We had great pit stops, great strategy calls… they did everything right. We deserved a podium today, but we had it taken away.”

DOUG FEHAN, CORVETTE RACING PROGRAM MANAGER

“Today was emblematic of one of my key racing axioms – 25 percent great car, 25 percent great team and 50 percent good fortune. We had all those in our corner today, backed up by flawless pit stops and a great strategy by our engineers. With plenty of power from GM Powertrain, you add all that up and it’s a victory in our first visit to Watkins Glen International in the Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen. I couldn’t be more proud of our guys for standing on that top step. Everyone worked very hard to earn this one.”

Here is Olly's report:

Challenges faced and resolved at Watkins Glen
29/06/2014
In today’s 15-minute GTLM qualifying session for tomorrow’s Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen at the iconic New York track of Watkins Glen, Tommy Milner in the No.4 Corvette Racing C7.R qualified 7th with a fastest lap of 1:44.783. Pole position went to the No.55 BMW ahead of the No.3 Corvette of Jan Magnussen.

Milner’s team mate, Olly, commented: “We’ve had a really big issue over the last few events with a handling imbalance in our car, probably since before Laguna Seca. We haven’t been able to get rid of it and it was an issue even at Le Mans. The decision was taken today before the last practice to change some structural things on the chassis such as cradles, and we think we’ve made a big step forward. The reports back from Tommy were very positive because in this morning’s session when I was driving the car was very tricky and hard to drive. We were at least a second off our sister car and we seemed to be struggling.

“We made the changes and it was looking good but then there were the red flag interruptions, which caused the same problems for everybody, but then the fire bottle exploded in the car! It was like someone had taken a can opener and just taken the whole top off it. It was extraordinary and no one at the team had ever seen it before…we were all sitting there on the timing stand wondering what else could possibly go wrong. Maybe that’s the turning point for us!

“Tommy did a brilliant job in qualifying. We went back to basics with the car’s set up and, with all these other structural changes that had been made to the chassis. We’re now starting a way down and are going to have to work away to find a decent balance. Tommy had quite a lot of understeer in that qualifying session so did a fantastic job to get us into p7, just three tenths from the No.3 car. We feel like we’re in the fight at least and we’re going to work away with the car in warm up and we’ll see where we are in the race. It’s certainly a lot more positive than it was this morning. It’s been a difficult few events for us but hopefully we’ve now turned the corner.”

CORVETTE RACING AT WATKINS GLEN: Magnussen Qualifies Second in No. 3 C7.R
Corvette DPs second and third at head of Watkins Glen Six Hours grid
2014-06-28

· First event at Watkins Glen for Corvette Racing
· Last-lap run by Magnussen takes second in GTLM
· Fittipaldi leads Corvette DP contingent in second overall

WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (June 28, 2014) – Corvette Racing’s Jan Magnussen qualified second Saturday in the GT Le Mans (GTLM) class of the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship for the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen. The Dane turned a lap of 1:44.376 (117.268 mph) in the No. 3 Chevrolet Corvette C7.R that he shares with Antonio Garcia. Sunday’s race will be Corvette Racing’s first event at Watkins Glen International.

Magnussen’s best lap was his final one and moved him from fourth to the outside front row by a scant 0.001 seconds over the third-place BMW.

Tommy Milner in the No. 4 Corvette C7.R was seventh in class with a lap of 1:44.783 (116.813 mph) and will drive with Oliver Gavin. Corvette Racing is on a two-race winning streak in the TUDOR Championship with Garcia and Magnussen standing second in the class championship.

The Watkins Glen event is the second endurance race in three weeks for Corvette Racing, which finished second and fourth in class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Chevrolet stands third in the GTLM manufacturer standings but is only four points out of first.

In the team championship, the No. 3 Corvette C7.R is second and five points out of the lead. The No. 4 Corvette stands fourth.

CORVETTE DP: Fittipaldi second overall for Action Express Racing
Action Express Racing’s try at a third consecutive Watkins Glen victory will begin from the outside of the front row in the Prototype class. Christian Fittipaldi was second-fastest in Action Express Racing’s No. 5 Corvette Daytona Prototype. The Brazilian set a best lap of 1:38.560 (124.188 mph) in the car he shares with Joao Barbosa.

A victory wouldn’t just be the third straight for the team at Watkins Glen, it also would be the second of the year for Barbosa and Fittipaldi. The duo won with Sebastian Bourdais in the Rolex 24 At Daytona.

Michael Valiante was third in Spirit of Daytona’s No. 90 Corvette DP, which he drives with Richard Westbrook. Valiante was just 0.132 seconds off Fittipaldi’s pace at 1:38.692 (124.022 mph). The pairing is coming off a runner-up finish at Detroit.

Chevrolet leads the Prototype Engine Manufacturer standings by six points.

Live television coverage of the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen starts at 11 a.m. ET, Sunday on FOX Sports 1.

GTLM QUOTES
JAN MAGNUSSEN, NO. 3 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R
“I’m quite happy with the result. It’s not pole position but this is a long race and it seems like we have a pretty good race car. We have done some consistent long runs so far. It would have been nice to find a little more time but both BMWs were very strong. We will see what we can do with them in the race. It’d be cool to win one of the races of the Patron North American Endurance Cup but the GT championship is what matters and we have to make sure we get the most out of tomorrow.
“We didn’t come here and test. We had Le Mans. The session we did yesterday was purely to gather data and prepare for today. I’m happy with the progress we’ve made. Now we can go back to find a little bit more that can give us the upper hand in the race.”

TOMMY MILNER, NO. 4 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R
“We’ve struggled the whole weekend the car. It was bad again on the first day here and we decided to change a lot of fundamentals on the car. The No. 4 car crew worked really hard to get it out for the second practice. Unfortunately we didn’t have a lot of running; traffic is unbelievable. But we had clean runs in qualifying that’s the best the car has felt in quite awhile - since Sebring really. We’ve been a little lost as to why we’ve struggled so much but I’m really proud of our guys for working as hard as they have to get the car better. But now we’re in the ballpark.”

DOUG FEHAN, CORVETTE RACING PROGRAM MANAGER
“Considering our lack of any testing data at Watkins Glen, starting second in GTLM is a great achievement. Jan Magnussen’s last qualifying lap was important in that it does split our BMW competitors. Although the track is new to Corvette Racing, we are well experienced in what it takes to win endurance races of this length. We are confident in both our Chevrolet Corvette C7.Rs.”

CORVETTE DP QUOTES
CHRISTIAN FITTIPALDI, NO. 5 ACTION EXPRESS RACING CORVETTE DP
“I’m pretty happy. It’s not like at other places where we didn’t get a clear run or we made a mistake on the setup. The car is very good and this is our reality. For the same reasons that some tracks have gone our way, I am now competing against a car that has 300 pounds less than mine and has good horsepower and this place has a lot of corners. In one aspect, I’m a little surprised we qualified second. I’m happily surprised. We will take it. The car is very good and let’s work hard tomorrow in the race to get a three-peat.”

JIM LUTZ, CORVETTE DAYTONA PROTOTYPE PROGRAM MANAGER
“Second and third in qualifying for two of our Corvette Daytona Prototypes are not bad results. It appears the P2 cars have an advantage over one lap in qualifying trim but we will see where things stand in race trim and over long runs. We are confident in the experience of our teams at Watkins Glen.”

CORVETTE RACING AT WATKINS GLEN: One Word…FINALLY!

Landmark first trip to historic road course for ALMS champions

· Corvette C7.Rs face new challenge at Six Hours of The Glen

· Garcia, Magnussen go for third straight win in TUDOR Championship

· Coming off second, fourth in class at Le Mans

DETROIT (June 25, 2014) – It’s only about an hour’s flight from Detroit to Watkins Glen International. But over the years, the two have been worlds away from the perspective of Corvette Racing. With the advent of the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship however, that distance is no more. America’s leading production-based racing team gets its first shot this weekend at the famed road course during the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen.

The event is the second endurance race in two weeks for Corvette Racing, which finished second and fourth in class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans with its two Chevrolet Corvette C7.Rs. Antonio Garcia and Jan Magnussen – runners-up at Le Mans with Jordan Taylor – are on a two-race winning streak in the TUDOR Championship and stand second in GT Le Mans points in their No. 3 Corvette C7.R.

Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner in the No. 4 Corvette are tied for third in the championship and look for their first victory of the season. They were fourth at Le Mans with Richard Westbrook.

Although the team has not raced at The Glen, the four Corvette Racing drivers aren’t complete strangers to the circuit. At the fore is Garcia, who hasn’t missed the Six Hours since 2010 when he finished third overall for Spirit of Daytona. Magnussen was a GT winner in 2005, and Gavin (2000 overall) and Milner (2011 GT) have runner-up finishes.

Climbing back on the podium – much less the top step – will require plenty of skill with a little luck. Sunday’s race marks the first since Sebring in March where all four TUDOR Championship classes will share the track at the same time. The grid stands at 55 cars for the 3.37-mile, 11-turn circuit.

The construction and performance of the Corvette C7.R gives Corvette Racing a key advantage. Based on the 2015 Corvette Z06 production car, the C7.R’s rigid frame gives the car improved cornering ability and stability. Those factors plus the Corvette’s impressive braking performance and throttle response along with Corvette Racing’s strategy and execution will be keys to success.

The Watkins Glen round also doubles as the third race of the Tequila Patrón North American Endurance Cup. It is a special four-race competition made up of the TUDOR Championship’s true endurance rounds. Gavin and Milner are tied for second in GTLM with Garcia and Magnussen standing seventh.

Corvette Racing’s No. 4 Corvette is second in team points, as is Chevrolet in the manufacturer standings.

Live television coverage of the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen starts at 11 a.m. ET, Sunday on FOX Sports 1.

The TUDOR Championship is the result of a merger between the ALMS and GRAND-AM’s Rolex Sports Car Series. Corvette Racing will compete in 11 races around North America plus the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Corvette Racing Display: For the Fans at Watkins Glen

Corvette Racing’s visit to Watkins Glen also means fans can take in a number of activities and at Chevrolet’s Corvette Racing Display in the Fan Midway Area:

Production vehicles such as the North American Truck of the Year, the Chevrolet Silverado, as well as the Camaro, Sonic and Impala
Showcars on location include a Corvette C7.R, and both a Corvette Stingray coupe and convertible, the North American Car of the Year
Fans can see a sample of engines, parts and accessories available for purchase from Chevrolet at their local Chevrolet dealer
Other activities at the Corvette Racing Display include a variety of interactive games for adults and kids
Fans who sign up with Corvette Racing will receive a special commemorative t-shirt

The Corvette Racing display opens 9 a.m. Friday and 8 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

ANTONIO GARCIA, NO. 3 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

“It is a short turnaround after a difficult race like Le Mans, but I am happy to go back to Watkins Glen and race the Corvette C7.R for the first time. Certainly it will be much different competing with the C7.R than a DP. This track has a good blend of high-speed parts and technical areas, so Corvette Racing should be able to challenge for another win. Things won’t be so easy with a six-hour race and lots of traffic. However, Corvette Racing has shown that we produce good strategies and excellent pit stops. It would be great if Jan and I could win our third straight TUDOR Championship race after a second-place at Le Mans. Regardless, a good finish would help us in the points race.”

JAN MAGNUSSEN, NO. 3 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

“It will be the first time for me in a Corvette at Watkins Glen. It’s an interesting place with a lot of history. The times that I’ve been there in other cars, I’ve enjoyed it a lot. So I’m looking forward to go back there and get back into the TUDOR Championship where we have won consecutive races. We’ve proven the car is good in all conditions. I can’t see any reason why we shouldn’t be able to fight for a win. It’s longer than a standard TUDOR Championship race and puts a lot more importance on pit stops and strategy. In the past, Corvette Racing has been very, very good in those areas and absolutely have been one of the team’s strongest points.”

OLIVER GAVIN, NO. 4 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

“It’s very much what you’d call an old-school track. It’s got three or four corners on it that are fast and really challenging. You get a huge amount of satisfaction from doing them well. It’s a circuit where you need courage and be fully committed all the time. If you’re at all timid or hesitant with it, then it can bite you. Generally the surface has a high level of grip. You can make a case for many different spots on the track being crucial for lap time, but I would stick my neck out and say that coming out of Turn 1 and uphill to the Esses is one of the biggest influencers.”

TOMMY MILNER, NO. 4 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

“If you’re going to put together a calendar for sports car racing in the U.S., you have to have Watkins Glen. It’s one I’ve been looking forward to for awhile. I haven’t won there but definitely want to add it to my résumé. I feel pretty confident going there. We have some experience with the car in a low-downforce trim, so if we need to go in that direction we have some knowledge to build from. And we typically run max downforce in the U.S. So no matter what, we should have a good car there. For some of our competitors, a six-hour race will feel a little long. But for us having just come back from Le Mans and doing 24 hours, it will feel like a breeze!”

DOUG FEHAN, CORVETTE RACING PROGRAM MANAGER

“It has been a long time coming but I am personally thrilled to see Corvette Racing finally compete at Watkins Glen. It is an iconic track with such a rich global history, and everyone on the team is excited by the opportunity to see and hear our Corvette C7.Rs make their Glen debuts. As the fans know, it’s a very short turnaround time for us following our strong showing at Le Mans. Rest assured, we readily accept that challenge and are welcoming the opportunity to showcase some ‘Ground Pounding American Thunder’ to all the Corvette and TUDOR Championship fans!”

CORVETTE RACING AT LE MANS: Runner-Up Finish for Corvette C7.R

Garcia, Magnussen, Taylor lead Corvette Racing effort with GTE Pro podium

LE MANS, France (June 15, 2014) – The new Chevrolet Corvette C7.R is a podium finisher in its debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Antonio Garcia, Jan Magnussen and Jordan Taylor were runners- up in the GTE Pro class in Corvette Racing’s No. 73 Corvette C7.R thanks to late-race heroics by the trio.

Despite losing valuable laps due to safety car nuances and a faulty valve stem for the Corvette’s air jack system, the No. 73 Corvette and its drivers completed 338 laps and finished a lap shy of the team’s first victory at the French endurance classic since 2011. The runner-up Corvette traveled 2,862.52 miles in the event.

“It was an honor to race the Chevrolet Corvette C7.R at the 2014 24 Hours of Le Mans in the GTE Pro class,” said Jim Campbell, Chevrolet U.S. Vice President, Performance Vehicles and Motorsports. “While Corvette Racing has won in class seven times, we are proud of the persistence, determination and teamwork from the drivers, engineers and crew that delivered a runner-up finish for the new Corvette C7.R. The team's 'never-give-up' approach was evident during each lap, pit stop and driver rotation.

“Every race, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans, provides a great opportunity to learn on the track and then enhance the technologies in the Corvette road car.”

Campbell added: “Thanks to the Corvette and Chevrolet owners who supported the Corvette Racing efforts at Le Mans or followed the racing action this weekend from around the world.”

The first daylight hours Sunday saw the trio fighting back after losing laps to a faulty valve stem for the car’s air jack and twice being separated from its competitors by a safety car in the race’s opening 12 hours. The No. 73 Corvette led for extended periods in the early portion of the race.

The final four hours of the race started with Taylor trailing the third-place Porsche by about 90 seconds before the young American drove a storming triple-stint to close the gap by more than half to 47 seconds. By the time he handed the No. 73 Corvette over to Magnussen and the Dane completed his first flying lap of his final stint, the interval to the new second-place Porsche was 28 seconds with an hour and 40 minutes left.

Magnussen drove a single stint and handed over to Garcia. The Spaniard took out huge chunks of time and took the second position for good when the Porsche pitted with trouble 75 minutes from the end.

The No. 74 Corvette C7.R of Oliver Gavin, Tommy Milner and Richard Westbrook placed fourth in class. The car had been running in podium contention as well before losing eight laps due to a slipped alternator belt and gearbox leak.

Gavin had reported a low voltage reading and a burning smell inside the car near the halfway point. Upon further examination, the crew found the alternator belt covered oil.

“As always, Le Mans was a stern test,” said Mark Kent, Director of Chevrolet Racing. “Achieving a runner-up position for the No. 73 Corvette is remarkable. It is a great reward for the dedication and work ethic of our team at Corvette Racing, Pratt & Miller and our Powertrain Group. We look forward to continuing this momentum when we return to the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship at Watkins Glen in two weeks.”

Corvette Racing’s next race is the Sahlen’s Six Hours at The Glen on Sunday, June 29 from Watkins Glen International. The event will air live at 11 a.m. ET on FOX Sports 1.

ANTONIO GARCIA, NO. 73 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

“We weren’t able to go for a win at the end. Things don’t always work out the way you planned, and when they don’t you always try to go for the next best option. At some point all the lead GTE Pro cars had issues; we had ours and they had theirs. At one point we were really down the order but we dug our heels in and slowly climbed back up the order, ready to strike when possible. So throughout the night and morning we moved back up the leaderboard - at the same time putting as much pressure on the other as we could. For most of the race we had the fastest car out there and we managed to finish in second a lap behind the leader; exactly the amount of time we lost in repairs at the beginning. I therefore can’t complain, and the lessons learned today will be implemented next year.”

JAN MAGNUSSEN, NO. 73 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

“It’s hard to be satisfied with second since it started so well for us a day ago. We had the car to win but as so often happens in Le Mans, things get in the way. We had some small issues in the pits and quite often picked up the wrong safety car. Three times I was stuck right behind the safety car which means you lose at least one third of a lap. But everybody performed flawlessly – especially Antonio and Jordan – but also the crew and the engineers did a stellar job.”

JORDAN TAYLOR, NO. 73 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

“My last stint was my best-ever stint in Le Mans, no doubt about it. The car was awesome and we were much better on the tires than the Porsche we beat to third at the end. We triple-stinted our tires but they only double-stinted. Regardless we had the strongest package out there today. We were just unfortunate in the beginning of the race.”

OLIVER GAVIN, NO. 74 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

“Our teammates did a fantastic job recovering from a broken air jack and losing some time. That’s pretty much what cost them victory but they got a great second place, and they are fully deserving of that.

“For us, the gearbox issue we had cost us seven laps and that’s how far we finished behind the leader. You could say that was what cost us victory. Our car wasn’t necessarily the fastest but we all worked extremely hard at it. Fourth is a good result but we were here to win. By not winning, you’re disappointed, you’re frustrated and you realize another year has gone by. But you also have to come back and shoot for it again the next year.”

TOMMY MILNER, NO. 74 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

"First of all congrats to the winners, and to Jan, Antonio and Jordan. They drove a great race. All three of them were quick all weekend. We were just not quite there all weekend. In the race, certainly anything can happen. You look past the issues you had in practice. Obviously the first part of the race went fairly well. But still you could see that our pace wasn't quite what it needed to be with outright speed. In these kind of races not having trouble, not making mistakes, that is the biggest key. We did that for the first 12 hours then we started having little problems here and there. It is always fun to coming here to Le Mans, especially with this team. All the people in France seem to like our cars and the loud, thunderous V8s that we have. It is always an experience coming here. No matter if you finish first or last, it is a fun week, and one that I look forward to every year."

RICHARD WESTBROOK, NO. 74 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

“This race just shows you how far we have come in a year: with a new car fighting at the front for a good chunk of the race, for more than half the race. We had a couple of issues out there, but that famous Chevrolet and Corvette Racing never-say-die attitude shown through. I am really, really proud to be part of this team and seeing everyone fight at the end of the race and claw our way back. Like I said, we've come a long way and the future looks bright for this car."

DOUG FEHAN, CORVETTE RACING PROGRAM MANAGER

“The race today clearly demonstrated why Le Mans is such difficult, demanding and awe-inspiring race. The final hours of the event required a passionate effort by Antonio Garcia, Jan Magnussen and Jordan Taylor – along with the efforts of the entire Corvette Racing crew, engineers and the GM Powertrain team. The podium experience at Le Mans is truly an Olympic moment. Congratulations to everyone at Corvette Racing and thanks to all our fans for their unequalled support. ”

CORVETTE RACING AT LE MANS: Corvette C7.R Leads After Six Hours

Westbrook has No. 74 Corvette out front in GTE Pro; Taylor fifth and gaining

LE MANS, France (June 14, 2014) – Corvette Racing’s two Corvette C7.R race cars have shown well in their debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. After six hours, Richard Westbrook led by nearly 30 seconds in the No. 74 Corvette that he shares with Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner.

Westbrook led a group of six cars on the lead lap that included Jordan Taylor in the No. 73 Corvette C7.R that was less than 90 seconds off the sister car’s pace. Both Corvettes led in the opening quarter of the race.

Jan Magnussen, sharing the No. 73 Corvette with Taylor and Antonio Garcia, put the Corvette C7.R into the lead at Le Mans for the first time 40 minutes into the race. He swapped positions with the first of the Ferraris, moving ahead once again on a dangerous and damp track.

Gavin also led in the No. 74 car during his stint as the Corvette Racing team elected to keep him out on dry tires during the wet safety car period. After the next pit stop cycle, Milner passed two Porsches in the span of a minute to go from third to first at the 3:30 mark.

The next Corvette Racing update from Le Mans will be the halfway report at 3 a.m. CT/9 p.m. ET.

JAN MAGNUSSEN, NO. 73 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

(Opening stint) “I’m happy with my first two stints. We have a really good car; I just had to be careful not to overdrive it. As soon as you do the car lets you know it doesn’t like it, so I took it easy, staying right within the limits. Then the rain came, at first a light drizzle. When I hit the wet part of the track I had the better momentum and passed (Gianmaria) Bruni for the lead. Then I just slowed down as the weather got worse. I had a big moment on the Mulsanne but managed to catch the car just in time. Even behind the safety car I was at the limit; one mile per hour faster and I might have shunted so I asked for rain tires. Even if it dries out quickly we have a car good enough to lose some time now and catch it back up later. We’re only two hours into the race, so why take the risk?”

OLIVER GAVIN, NO. 4 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

(How unpredictable was the weather in your stint?) “Those were tricky conditions and difficult at times. I’m pleased we made the call to stay out. Certainly when it first started to rain coming into the first chicane when the Audi crashed, I was really unsure what was going to happen. There were sheets of rain coming down. You could see it sitting on the surface and the car starts to glide. You just have to let it glide and coast. Fortunately I was able to get the car slow enough to get through the chicane and stay out of trouble. Even under the safety car, I was going 30-40 mph and still aquaplaning. In those conditions you’re doing all you can to survive. Then we realized it was short-lived and we thought we could make it work on the slick tire behind the safety car so we stayed out. I wasn’t sure but Chuck (Houghton, engineer) convinced me enough, and we did it. That put us in a position where we could capitalize.”

(How was the car in the dry?) “It’s a little bit edgy and tricky in the full dry with the tire we were on. It looked like everyone was struggling with the same thing; it was a matter of how forgiving you’ve made your car. As the circuit rubbers up, the car should be easier to drive. That’s certainly what we are hoping. By the time we get through the evening and into the morning, we should be looking good.”

TOMMY MILNER, NO. 74 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

(How was the stint?) “It’s a good start to the race for us. I’m still a little cautiously optimistic. We haven’t been super-quick all weekend. Our teammates have had the better of us; not by a lot but they’ve been quick all weekend. It seems like we have more pace in the race than we had from practice. Some of that comes from me being more comfortable in the car. My laps this week have been limited. It was crazy conditions with the rain. I’ve never driven on a race track with that much rain on it in my life.

“I’m most happy about the pace we seem to have in the car. Now it’s about being patient and running laps. I don’t want to get too anxious. Before the race, I thought we wouldn’t have the pace; that we would have to run laps and stay out of trouble. That part still holds true. That’ll be the biggest thing. The guys have already made good strategy calls so let’s see how that holds up.”

CORVETTE RACING AT LE MANS: Spirit of Le Mans Award for Fehan

Receives prestigious honor from Le Mans governing body

DETROIT (June 13, 2014) – Corvette Racing Program Manager Doug Fehan is presented with the Spirit of Le Mans award today from the Automobile Club de l’Ouest – the sporting authority of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Fehan, who oversees the Corvette Racing program on behalf of Chevrolet, received the honor the day before the start of the 82nd running of Le Mans.

The Spirit of Le Mans award is presented annually by the ACO to the person who has been instrumental in the growth in stature of the 24 Hours.

Fehan has been the program manager for Corvette Racing since its debut in 1999. Three years earlier, he and former GM Racing executive director Herb Fishel – a Spirit of Le Mans recipient in 2003 – helped put the plans in place to launch Corvette’s return to professional road racing in 1999, and the program debuted at Le Mans in 2000. A year later, Corvette Racing captured the first of its seven class wins at Le Mans.

“I am deeply honored and grateful to receive the esteemed Spirit of Le Mans award,” Fehan said. “To be in a group that includes some of endurance racing’s most famous names is extremely humbling.

“Returning to the 24 Hours of Le Mans each year is a very powerful and emotional time for me personally, along with everyone at Corvette Racing,” Fehan added. “Le Mans is one of the world’s great competitions and one where we have had considerable success. But even without that, Le Mans would still retain the mystique that comes over me each time I drive into the track for the first time each year. Those experiences – and many others we have achieved at Corvette Racing – are ones that I will remember for the rest of the my life.”

Corvette Racing debuts the Chevrolet Corvette C7.R this year at Le Mans with a two-car attack in the GTE Pro class. Antonio Garcia, Jan Magnussen and Jordan Taylor will drive the No. 73 Corvette with Oliver Gavin, Tommy Milner and Richard Westbrook manning the No. 74 Corvette.

Corvette Racing will go for its eighth class win at the 24 Hours of Le Mans since 2001 at 3 p.m. CET/9 a.m. ET on Saturday, June 14 with live coverage across FOX Sports 1, FOX Sports 2 and the FOX Sports Go app. Live in-car video from both Corvette C7.Rs and a Corvette Racing garage cam will stream throughout the race at foxsports.com.

CORVETTE RACING AT LE MANS: Second and Fourth in Qualifying for Corvette C7.Rs

Garcia leads qualifying efforts for the Le Mans debut for C7.Rs

LE MANS, France (June 13, 2014) – Corvette Racing will start second and fourth Saturday in the GTE Pro class for the 24 Hours of Le Mans following strong qualifying runs for its two Chevrolet Corvette C7.Rs. Antonio Garcia set a best time of 3:54.777 (129.867 mph) in the No. 73 Corvette C7.R and Oliver Gavin qualified the No. 74 Corvette C7.R fourth in class at 3:55.190 (129.618 mph) – encouraging starts for each of the two Corvette Racing entries.

"The Corvette Racing team had two solid evening sessions on track to qualify P2 and P4 in the GTE Pro class,” said Jim Campbell, Chevrolet U.S. Vice President, Performance Vehicles and Motorsports. “It also was great to get the Corvette Racing drivers additional laps in the new Chevrolet Corvette C7.R at night. The whole team is fully focused on the race."

Garcia – driving with Jan Magnussen and Jordan Taylor – posted his quickest in the middle portion of the night's final session. He improved on his best effort in the first session – one that was faster than any other car in the opening two hours – by 0.261 seconds around the 8.3-mile circuit.

“I had a very good qualifying lap today,” Garcia said. “It’s always difficult to know exactly how much you can push, especially on Thursday when you more or less know that these laps in the last session are the last laps before race day. You don’t want to take too many risks and we have seen on quite a few occasions this year and in the past that if it goes wrong here, it goes wrong big time.”

Gavin, who is teaming with Tommy Milner and Richard Westbrook, also set his best lap in Thursday’s final session.

The times were improvements from Wednesday’s red-flag filled session in which Garcia set the best time in the No. 73 Corvette at 3:56.443 (128.935 mph). Milner’s best effort in the No. 74 Corvette C7.R was a 3:59.446 (127.319 mph).

Judging by qualifying times, the race should be extremely competitive. The gap from Garcia to the seventh-place Porsche was less than a second.

Corvette Racing will go for its eighth class win at the 24 Hours of Le Mans since 2001 at 3 p.m. CET/9 a.m. ET on Saturday, June 14 with live coverage throughout on FOX Sports 1, FOX Sports 2, the FOX Sports Go mobile app and FOXsports.com – which will stream live Corvette Racing in-car camera feeds and a pit camera for the full race in the U.S.

ANTONIO GARCIA, NO. 73 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

“I’m quite happy with the balance and how the car feels for the race, so it looks promising. We mustn’t forget that this is still the first Le Mans for the Corvette C7.R, so we still have some unknowns regarding certain aspects. But we did a good job in preparing the car over the past two days and the Test Day and I can say we have a real good car for the 24 Hours. We’ll still have to see where exactly our competitors are, because cars can be fast over a single lap while others can be a bit slower over a single lap but be very consistent once they’re on race pace.”

OLIVER GAVIN, NO. 74 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

“It was certainly better this evening than yesterday. We managed to get some decent running in the car and develop it a little more. We feel like we have a better racecar now. I managed to stick in a time in there that put us fourth. It would have been great if Tommy could have had a really good run at it right there at the end with maybe some softer tires. We’ve made some steps and it seems like we are right there in the hunt with everyone else. It also seems that most everyone is complaining of low grip and edginess. The circuit, the surface and tires don’t seem to be bonding and working together so well at the moment. But that could come; the circuit could rubber up more and we could get a more consistent and quicker race car. We’re in a good spot. This should be a dogfight throughout.”

DOUG FEHAN, CORVETTE RACING PROGRAM MANAGER

“This is a solid start and represents a complete team effort. Our drivers, engineers and crew worked in sync to sort out a few handling issues with our Chevrolet Corvette C7.Rs following multiple red-flag periods tonight and Wednesday. The time we did have on track was extremely beneficial as we were finally able to get back to a competitive aero package tonight. We don't have much in the way of long-run performance testing, so that could still bite us. But the ultimate performance should at least let us compete. Now we just need to execute and have some luck for a clean race. We really appreciate our drivers for not putting a foot wrong in practice and helping us work through to good setups. From the time sheet, this looks like it could be a very exciting race!”

CORVETTE RACING AT LE MANS: Garcia Leads Corvette Attack on First Day

Spaniard fourth among GTE Pro runners in No. 73 Chevrolet Corvette C7.R

LE MANS, France (June 12, 2014) – Corvette Racing’s two Chevrolet Corvette C7.R race cars sit fourth and ninth in the GTE Pro class after Wednesday’s first qualifying session at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. An additional pair of two-hour qualifying sessions are set for Thursday and will help determine the grid for this year’s twice-around-the-clock enduro.

Antonio Garcia was the fastest driver for Corvette Racing. The Spaniard set a best time of 3:56.443 (128.935 mph) in the No. 73 Corvette C7.R that he shares with Jan Magnussen and Jordan Taylor. It put Garcia 1.689 seconds behind the provisional pole-sitting Ferrari.

Tommy Milner set the best time in the No. 74 Corvette C7.R that he drives with Oliver Gavin and Richard Westbrook – a lap of 3:59.446 (127.319 mph).

The crew of the No. 74 car had to change the gearbox during Wednesday evening’s four-hour practice session after Milner lost drive late in a lap during the closing 45 minutes. By the time the car arrived back in the garage, the Corvette Racing crew had a spare transmission, hoist and tools laid out to complete the swap. The repairs took less than an hour.

The day featured a number of lengthy red flag periods due to heavy crashes and damage. Race organizers ended qualifying 30 minutes early.

The first of Thursday’s two qualifying sessions is set for 7 p.m. CET/1 p.m. ET.

“It’s been an interesting day in that we’ve never had that many red flags on the first day of practice and qualifying at Le Mans. It wasn’t exactly what we were expecting. Normally we go through our entire to-do-list of changes and things to try, but now we only managed maybe 20 percent of that. We didn’t have much track time, but we will still have to analyze all the data - mainly from out- and in-laps. Still, the car feels very good and is very comfortable to drive. We’re definitely heading in the right direction. Hopefully we’ll have more track time tomorrow.”

TOMMY MILNER, NO. 74 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

“The best way to put today is that I’m looking forward to tomorrow. There were lots of little things here and there. The car right at the end was pretty good after some setup changes and after we fixed the issue with the driveline. It felt a lot better but I could never get a lap because of traffic and cars going off. We tried to get Richard (Westbrook) some laps in the car but couldn’t make that happen. So we’re all looking forward to tomorrow now.”

Our subdivision has lots of trees and some belong to the neighbors. They did not take kindly to us wanting to cut their trees, lol!

Too many trees in our area for Direct TV or Dish and no Verizon FIOS. We live in a small town so will probably try the app. Would hate to miss the last few hours of the race.

CORVETTE RACING AT LE MANS: First Laps at Le Mans for Corvette C7.R

Test Day goals accomplished; Gavin fourth and Magnussen sixth

LE MANS, France (June 1, 2014) – Corvette Racing successfully ran through its test program ahead of the 24 Hours of Le Mans today as the two Chevrolet Corvette C7.Rs turned their first laps around the circuit in the Sarthe region of France. Both Corvette C7.Rs ran virtually trouble-free during the pair of four-hour sessions two weeks before the famed endurance race June 14-15.

Four-time Le Mans winner Oliver Gavin set the fourth-fastest time of the GTE Pro field in the No. 74 Corvette at 3:58.403 (127.878 mph), set in the afternoon session. Gavin, partnering with past Le Mans winner Tommy Milner and Richard Westbrook, also was the quickest Corvette Racing driver in the morning session.

Jan Magnussen was the fastest driver in the No. 73 Corvette C7.R and sixth in GTE Pro with a lap of 3:59.192 (127.443 mph), set late in the second session. Another four-time Le Mans winner, the Dane was the first driver in the No. 73 to start the day and was the last driver in at the end of the session. He drives with Antonio Garcia – the pairing have won the last two races in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship – and Jordan Taylor.

The two Corvettes recorded considerable number of laps around 8.3-mile circuit. The No. 73 car completed 45 laps – tied for the most in class – during testing with the No. 74 posting 44. The top six cars were within two seconds, which bodes well for a competitive race.

With seven class victories at Le Mans since 2001, Corvette Racing and Chevrolet rank among the most successful teams and manufacturers to compete at Le Mans in the modern era.

The next time Corvette Racing takes to the circuit at Le Mans is 4 p.m. CET/10 a.m. ET on Wednesday, June 11 for free practice and qualifying. Corvette Racing will go for its eighth class win at the 24 Hours of Le Mans since 2001 at 3 p.m. CET/9 a.m. ET on Saturday, June 14 with live coverage on SPEED.

ANTONIO GARCIA, NO. 73 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

“The Chevrolet Corvette C7.R is a major step forward compared to last year’s car. So far we’ve worked on our usual, annual to-do-list for Le Mans, and everything is going to plan. With the new car we of course have a lot more work to do than with the previous car, which was always a known package. But so far everything we tried and at Road America seems to be working here and we’re definitely going in the right direction.”

JAN MAGNUSSEN, NO. 73 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

"We just improved the car as we went along. It was very hard to already find a race setup given the conditions of the track (green and dirty after a year). All three of us were happy with the changes we made, and we specifically made some good progress on the brakes. We came here with a car that was very good straight out of the box, so we could stick to the plan we had set ourselves to do today.”

JORDAN TAYLOR, NO. 73 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

“I didn’t get too much time in the car yet. So far I’ve tested the car at Road America, so it was good to spend half a day in Le Mans. The car feels quite comfortable. That’s the most important thing here in Le Mans – to have a car you feel comfortable driving and which all three drivers feel comfortable with setup wise. All three of us are happy with where we are and we are definitely looking forward to the race.”

OLIVER GAVIN, NO. 74 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

“The track was very dirty in the beginning and it took a while to be good enough. Everybody seemed to waiting for the track to become nice and clean. By the second half of the morning session is was good enough for everybody to work with it. All in all it’s been a good first run with the C7.R here in Le Mans. The car seems to be very predictable here. It does what we want it to do.”

TOMMY MILNER, NO. 74 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

“We went through our program of changes and ideas to make the car better, both in handling and performance. I’m fairly happy with where we are now. After all the changes we made, I did a run on new tires early in the afternoon session and the car felt a lot better than this morning on used tires. This is a first good test for the Corvette C7.R here, and things have been a lot better so far than last year around the same time.”

RICHARD WESTBROOK, NO. 74 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

“The first few laps were pretty strange, having raced in the Detroit TUDOR Championship race less than 24 hours before. There are probably no two more opposite cars like the Corvette DP and the Corvette C7.R, just like there are no two more opposite tracks like Belle Isle and Le Mans. Other than that the car felt really good with no major issues so all I had to do was to make sure I felt comfortable. I’m quite looking forward to the race the week after next.”

DOUG FEHAN, CORVETTE RACING PROGRAM MANAGER

“Unlike in years past when there was a huge differential between the different types of cars, this year they are all pretty closely bunched together. This is of course testament to the efforts made by the sanctioning body in creating a very good balance of performance. We’re pleased with where we are on a performance standpoint and are looking forward to qualifying in 10 days with the new Corvette C7.Rs.”

I checked MAV TV and supposedly it is offered by Comcast cable but NOT in our area. We don't get Fox Sports 2, Velocity or MAV Tv. We are deprived!

If they can pre-empt Sebring with basketball I am sure they would do the same with Le Mans on baseball. I wish we had a designated motorsports channel and one that everybody could get.

It it works it would be worth the $13.00. I doubt Fox Sports 1 will show all 24 hours. Can't get anyone to confirm TV schedule yet.

For the 82nd Le Mans 24 Hours the ACO has evolved its application for the FIA World Endurance Championship’s blue riband event of the year. It is devoted to the race and is aimed at tablets and Smartphones, and is now available on AppStore or Googleplay.
To enable fans the whole world over to live the 82nd running of the greatest endurance race in the world on 14-15 June in total immersion, the Automobile Club de l’Ouest has brought out an application, which reinforces its position in the galaxy of the new media.
It is available for any equipment that can use iPhone or Android applications. Under the name “24 Heures du Mans” it can be downloaded for free from AppStore or Googleplay and it has two levels of accessibility.

The first includes news, live classifications, on-board cameras, cars’ positions on the track, information on the drivers and teams, reports, interviews, videos, summaries, is free.

The second is the premium pack containing live videos of free practice, qualifying and the race in full as well as direct permanent access to images from the pits: price 9,90 euros.
This pack will be available on 11th June at 16h00, the start of the first free practice session for the 82nd Le Mans 24 Hours.

All the contents of the official Le Mans 24 Hours application are available in English and French. The menu is available in English, French, Japanese, Chinese, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish and Arabic (option to be chosen in the settings of your tablet, Smartphone, etc).
This application follows the one devoted to the World Endurance Championship FIA-WEC) launched in April at the first round of the season, the Silverstone 6 Hours. Those who already have this only have to download the update from AppStore or Googleplay to take advantage of the Le Mans 24-Hours version. After this race the application will be back in world championship mode for the other five rounds of the 2014 season.

With the continuation of the Le Mans 24-Hours Web TV (on the site 24h-lemans.com), which was such a huge success in 2013 – more than 7 million visitors – the second screen offer proposed by the ACO will be as complementary as it is unique in the world of motor sport.

CORVETTE RACING AT LE MANS: First Steps Toward Eighth Class Victory

Annual Test Day serves as dress rehearsal for Corvette C7.R’s Le Mans debut

DETROIT (May 28, 2014) – The biggest challenge yet for the new Chevrolet Corvette C7.R beckons across the Atlantic. Sunday is the annual Test Day ahead of the 24 Hours of Le Mans and eight hours of track time for the C7.R and Corvette Racing’s six drivers. It’s the only time cars can run on the 8.3-mile circuit ahead of official practice and qualifying for the world’s most grueling auto race June 14-15.

Le Mans is the biggest event on Corvette Racing’s schedule, and for good reason. It tests man and machine like no other in some of the most extreme conditions imaginable. And it’s one where Corvette Racing has a strong history – seven class victories since 2001. Once again, the team will compete in the GTE Pro class.

The driver lineups are the same in each Corvette for the third straight year. Antonio Garcia, Jan Magnussen and Jordan Taylor will drive the No. 73 Corvette C7.R. Oliver Gavin, Tommy Milner and Richard Westbrook will share the No. 74 Corvette. The group has a combined 12 victories at Le Mans – four each for Gavin and Magnussen, three for Garcia and one for Milner.

All six drivers tested the Corvette C7.R in a low-downforce aero package during a two-day test earlier this month at Road America. It marked a significant change in feel and handling from the high-downforce setup the two Corvettes use in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship. The team hopes the success in North America transfers to Le Mans. Garcia and Magnussen are on a two-race winning streak and stand second in the GT Le Mans championship. Gavin and Milner are tied for third.

The Corvette C7.R debuts at Le Mans nine years after its predecessor – the C6.R – made its first start in 2005. Much has changed with new design and engineering efforts that will aid Corvette Racing and its drivers at the 24 Hours. Even with limited downforce, the C7.R is much more stable and predictable than the previous generation Corvette, drivers say. That will make the Corvettes that much stronger in the medium- and high-speed corners that dot the Le Mans layout.

This also is the first race at Le Mans for a Corvette with a direct-injection engine since the final GT1 race for the C6.R in 2009. Corvette Racing engineers expect a 3 percent gain in fuel economy over the C6.R which could mean one less pit stop over the course of 24 Hours – a potentially huge advantage.

Sunday’s test sessions at Le Mans run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 to 6 p.m. Central European Time or 3 to 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. to noon ET.

ANTONIO GARCIA, NO. 73 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

(Benefits of Road America test) “Every single lap we do is important. We did all we can to get to Le Mans with the maximum amount of knowledge about the car and maximum amount of development. It took me a few laps to get used to the car in a low-trim setup. Even Road America isn’t a low-downforce track. You have to adjust your style to the aero more than the track. What I remembered about Road America was completely different because we ran a completely different aero configuration. You have to focus on driving the car and forget about where you are. We know we could have adjusted the car to go faster around there, but the focus was our Le Mans program and gain as much data as possible.”

(Test Day outlook) “When we left Road America, we were happy with how things progressed and how the car behaved on the track. Now we have to wait to see how this new C7.R is around Le Mans and where we are compared to our competition. The test will be important considering the weather. It has been difficult the last three years. If we have a week like we had last year – with almost no dry running – it will be difficult for us. We hope to have a good, clean run Sunday with nice weather that is good enough to confirm that all we have is good enough for the race and what we expect.”

JAN MAGNUSSEN, NO. 73 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

(Road America test) “As usual at Le Mans, everyone is looking for top speed and stability. I think we got through a good number of things at the test that will help us at Le Mans. But we won’t know how we stack up against the competition probably until the race at Le Mans. Even at the Test Day, people are testing stuff and not exactly going for a lap time. But we will get a good idea of where we are on the Test Day. Unfortunately if we are not near the top, there is not a lot we can do between the test and the race other than some fine-tuning. But I do think we are much better prepared this year than we were last year.”

(Outook): “We are in a much better position this year. Last year we were a huge amount of time off the fastest cars. This year I don’t think the gap will be that big. But if you are a half-second or a second off, that’s still a problem. We’ve done everything we can to be as well-prepared as possible.”

JORDAN TAYLOR, NO. 73 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

(Being back with Corvette Racing) “It’s been a long time since I drove the C6.R - since last year’s Petit Le Mans. It was nice to finally get laps in the C7.R. It’s a way different car –everything from the cockpit to the way it drives and the seating position. I sat in it at Daytona and Laguna Seca to get a feel for it, and to get to drive it at Road America was really fun. Getting up to speed in a car like that in such a competitive class is always difficult. It’s great having guys in the car with you like Antonio and Jan, who are obviously on it in the class and won the last two races. So I have the perfect guys to compare my data to and really figure out the car.”

(First C7.R impressions) “The biggest thing for me is how much more comfortable to drive and how much more predictable it is. The C6.R was always on edge; when it started to slide, it would slide quickly and it was hard to catch. Finding the limit of the car was always a little intimidating because there wasn’t much time to react when the car started to break loose. But once I got in the C7.R, I could instantly feel the grip and a much better sensation of where the car is in the corner. You know what’s about to happen and you can react much quicker. For our type of racing, it’s huge to have that predictability just for consistency over a run.”

OLIVER GAVIN, NO. 74 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

(Road America test) “It’s always good to go to Road America and test. I felt pretty confident in the car. You know from many years of going to Le Mans what the car needs to be fast at Le Mans. Did we tick all those boxes? I’d say we ticked some of them but you never know if you ticked all of them until you get to Le Mans and you see what your pace is like and what your straight-line speed is like. Le Mans is so unique and it’s so hard to replicate that and reproduce it anywhere in the world.”

(High-downforce vs. low-downforce setups): “Fundamentally the balance of the car is very similar. Just the level of grip in medium- and high-speed corners go down when you have a light-downforce package. So you know you have to be a little more delicate with the wheel, the brakes and slow with your hands and feet so as to not upset the car under braking – the sort of mindset that you need for when you go back to Le Mans. And that was another great thing about having that test at Road America. After running the cars with the highest levels of downforce possible for first part of the year, it was a bit of a culture shock to how the car needs to be set up and how it needs to be in order to go fast around 8.3 miles at Le Mans. You have to make those adjustments so not only is it good for us to go to Road America to test the car and see what it’s like in those configurations, it’s good for the drivers to get that experience and feel.”

TOMMY MILNER, NO. 74 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

(Driving with low-downforce settings) “It was a big difference in general from what I’m used to. But you have to reset your brain a little bit on what the car feels like in high-speed corners and under braking. Certainly for a first stab at it, the car wasn’t too bad. But over the two days (at Road America), we worked really hard on making it more comfortable to drive. We definitely achieved that – as comfortable as it can be with very little downforce. At a place like Road America, if you can be pretty comfortable in the Carousel with little downforce, then that usually bodes well for Le Mans.”

(Team preparations) “The atmosphere within the team doesn’t change much. But everyone on the team is a little more anxious to see how the car feels, how fast it can be and what we say about it over the radio because in some ways it is our first taste of what to expect for Le Mans. The biggest difference is just those first impressions and they make a bigger impact on the mood of the team a little bit early on. The car was obviously not very fun to drive to start with (at Road America) but nobody panicked. We put our heads down and started working on the car. We definitely left the test feeling pretty optimistic about going to Le Mans with a car that should be quick and one that is fairly nice to drive. But having said that, I’d trade a comfortable car to drive for a fast car at Le Mans any day. That’s part of Le Mans – trying to find that elusive balance.”

RICHARD WESTBROOK, NO. 74 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

(Back with Corvette Racing) “It’s great to be back in the Corvette Racing family. It feels like it has been too long. I had to sit out Daytona and Sebring because of my duties with the Corvette Daytona Prototype, so I was really excited to get back with the team and I was keen to try out the Corvette C7.R. I certainly wasn’t disappointed. It’s an amazing piece of machinery and engineering. Everyone at Pratt & Miller and Chevrolet did a fantastic job in improving on the successful C6.R in every department. It was a very encouraging test.”

(First impressions) “The thing that struck me was the lower center of gravity in the car. You can feel that right away. You can feel the added stability especially at high speed. The thing that was a big, big step is the lateral grip. The advancements in the center of gravity are just incredible. It was a real joy to drive and I have to say it was a little easier to drive and step into than what I was used to before. It feels much more like a racing car – something you can grab hold of and drive. When you have quick sections like the Porsche Curves, it’s all about confidence and this car really introduces a lot of confidence into its driver.”

DOUG FEHAN, CORVETTE RACING PROGRAM MANAGER

“I know all our fans are anxious to see the new Chevrolet Corvette C7.R turn its first laps at the upcoming test day at Le Mans. Experience tells us that any track time there proves to be extremely valuable and fundamental to success. While our recent two-day test at Road America was beneficial to get our first taste of running the car in a Le Mans-style, low-downforce setting, you simply can’t simulate actual Le Mans conditions at any other track in the world. That’s what makes the challenge and allure of Le Mans special and why it is the cornerstone of our racing program year in and year out.”

Doug Fehan, or Godug as we call him, is the "Program Manager" for Corvette Racing, but his role is so much mole that just a corporate title.

Doug has been an ambassador for the brand since the team's inception in 1999, and is a massive part of the team's success.

Corvette Racing has racked up 92 victories in endurance (82 in the American Le Mans Series, 7 at Le Mans, 1 at Daytona and 2 this season in the Tudor United SportsCar Championship) plus 10 manufacturers’ and teams’ championship titles in the American Le Mans Series and 9 drivers’ titles.

On top of his job at General Motors, Doug holds a seat on the FIA sporting group as the manufacture's representative for all manufacturers, and has been an ambassador for the sport and for the 24hrs of Le Mans.

Fehan will be awarded the Spirit of Le Mans on Friday evening 13th June by President Pierre Fillon, a prize given by the Automobile Club de l’Ouest to all those who have served the spirit of Le Mans.

I can't believe what they did regarding Sebring and now Petit Le Mans next fall. Almost as if they don't want people to watch the IMSA Tudor races.

Corvette Racing fans!

At the NCM bash there were a couple of questions to Doug Fehan, during a seminar, on who to complain to on improving the IMSA TV broadcasting over Fox Sports during the 2014 & future seasons. Doug responded that Corvette Racing fans needed to email their comments to IMSA and let them know how detrimental this TV package has been to racing and the series.

After checking the schedule I discovered that most of the races will be broadcast over Fox Sports 1, a channel most of us get, either through Satellite or cable. However, the Sebring race was a farce, with only 3 hours of TV. The last two IMSA races, Circuit of Americas and Petit Le Mans, have been moved to Fox Sports 2, a channel many of us on cable, such as Comcast, do not get. To make matters worse, Fox Sports thinks very highly of it's FS2 channel and is demanding a higher rate to cable companies, who refuse to pay it. On a Comcast forum there was a big discussion where Comcast explained the situation and indicated there was no FS2 coming to most areas.

IMSA & Fox have a 5 year deal that goes through the 2018 season. So, unless we can convince IMSA to keep all the racing on FS1, and do a better job showing the whole race, there will be no change in the future, and many of us will not see these races live. Corvette Racing fans are not the only ones who are upset as the other manufacture fans feel the same way. So, if you haven't been happy with the TV coverage please take a moment and contact IMSA, your cable company, and Fox Sports. Let them know that this motorsports TV package needs to be changed so that all fans can enjoy the racing, increase viewing and interest, and make the IMSA-Tudor series stronger.
Please pass this info to all your racing friends!

CORVETTE RACING AT LAGUNA SECA: Second Straight Win for Magnussen, Garcia
New Chevrolet Corvette C7.R a winner again in California

MONTEREY, Calif. (May 4, 2014) – It wasn’t nearly as easy as last time, but Antonio Garcia and Jan Magnussen scored their second straight GT Le Mans victory in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship on Sunday. The duo won a hard-fought battle for the second consecutive season at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca – this time in their No. 3 Chevrolet Corvette C7.R.

Garcia won by 4.710 seconds as Corvette Racing took its third straight win at the track and seventh since 2004.

"Today was another fantastic day for Jan Magnussen, Antonio Garcia and Corvette Racing,” said Mark Kent, Chevrolet’s Director of Racing. “It was a tremendous performance by everyone involved. The strategy and execution was perfect from the start. We saw again why this class of racing is among the best in the world."

Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner in the No. 4 Corvette C7.R ran among the leaders early and often before finishing fifth in class after Gavin was hit from behind and spun off track late in the race.

Magnussen led all 42 laps of his stint, although this one wasn’t nearly as calm as his race to victory at Long Beach last month. Instead of a 10-second lead, he rarely led by more than a second and was under tremendous pressure. Twice, the Dane had to lock up the brakes going into the Corkscrew turn, the first time when he was pushed wide by a prototype just before the braking zone.

On a one-stop strategy following a pit stop and driver change at the one-hour mark, the focus of the battle turned to Garcia and Giancarlo Fisichella’s Ferrari. Garcia bided his time and used a slower car as a pick to move into the lead with 22 minutes left. With solid tires and great balance, he was able to steadily pull away.

Corvette Racing’s next event is the 24 Hours of Le Mans on June 14-15. The next GTLM round of the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship takes place at Watkins Glen on June 29.

ANTONIO GARCIA, NO. 3 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

"I knew we had a really good car going into this race. The C6.R was successful coming into here, and I knew the Chevrolet Corvette C7.R would be good too. We proved that yesterday (in qualifying) because everything was running up to where we wanted it to. I knew the trick would be to save the tires because I saw Jan was having troubles with that. I knew he flat-spotted once or twice the front right, so it was difficult for me getting into the car knowing I had to save the tires. It was a good call on the pits just to do one stop. We lost a position to the Ferrari because Jan lost quite a bit on the in-lap and we lost maybe a second. I tried to overtake once or twice the Ferrari but I saw on pure pace that it couldn’t happen. Then getting back on my mind I knew I had to run those tires for half an hour, so I decided just to give up a little bit of pressure on them and just start saving tires as best I could. Doing that I wasn’t losing much time to them, maybe a little bit, and as soon as he caught traffic I could get him back. In the end if paid off pretty good and then I used traffic again. When I saw that prototype going to pass (the Ferrari), I really went for it and make a run as much as possible and he had no chance to block me. Then with 20 minutes to go I could use the tires I had saved."

JAN MAGNUSSEN, NO. 3 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

“This is the perfect preparation for the team to go on to Le Mans full of confidence. We know when everything works we can win. Antonio did a fantastic job. He was fighting every lap. When the opportunity came there wasn’t a clear track where he was able to pass the Ferrari. As soon as the opportunity came he was there and then able to pull away for a safety margin. It was a fantastic job by the whole crew, the engineers, everyone at Corvette Racing.”

(His stint) “This was a tough stint. To begin with I had quite good grip and balance in the car. Towards the end there when the Porsche was catching me, I got pushed a little bit wide by the DeltaWing and had a huge lock-up into the Corkscrew which gave us a flat spot so that kind of took our edge away a little bit. I really, really had to fight for my position then.”

OLIVER GAVIN, NO. 4 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

“It was another one of those races where we showed a lot of promise, and it just didn’t really work out for us whatsoever. With the limited track time we got here, we took a bit of a shot with the setup of the car. For whatever reason, we were working our rear tires just a bit harder than most other cars out there. Tommy did a great job in hanging on to the car for so long with those worn rear tires. We took a gamble with the tires for my stint, and it was looking like it was going to be pretty good. Then the rear of the car just started to really snap away. It caught me out going into (Turn) Six – I ran wide up the hill there. I was able to get back on it and got going again. But then the No. 56 BMW was coming like no tomorrow; they had stopped and I knew they were quicker than us… I don’t know what happened, but as I came through the center of turn one, I got hit and turned around and we lost three spots. It kind of summed up our day really… very frustrating. A lot of effort from all the guys with the stop, and they did a great job. It is frustrating. It just seems right now like we can’t seem to catch a break. We always seem to be in the wrong place at the wrong time with people. We’ve got to turn that around. We go to our next race, which is our biggest race of the year, the Le Mans 24 Hours. Hopefully it is a really nice change in our fortunes this year because it has been a rather testing first few races for us. We need to go back, regroup and think about exactly how we are attacking these weekends and if we are doing something slightly wrong, we need to address it and fix it because we need to be 100 percent for our next big race in Le Mans.”

TOMMY MILNER, NO. 4 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

“Tough stint there for sure. With the practice schedule, we didn’t get a whole lot of running. We weren’t too sure how long the tires were going to last. We found out pretty quickly in the race that we were on a little too soft of a compound early on so our lap times suffered quite a bit. Then I made a mistake in (Turn) Four and ran wide. We lost five or six seconds, something like that. Stuff like that makes a difference in a race like this with no yellows. It would be nice to get a yellow to pack everybody up, and go for the race. But, that is probably not going to happen. The gap was pretty big for awhile there, then it kind of closed up as Jan had issues as well. So he kind of brought the whole field back to me again so we aren’t too far away. But, it is hard to pass here, so every little mistake and things like that will definitely show itself at the end of the race."

DOUG FEHAN, CORVETTE RACING PROGRAM MANAGER

“What an incredible day for Corvette Racing! Today, everything had to be perfect to win - the driving, the strategy and execution. Once again, Corvette Racing did it all and that is what enabled this victory. Two victories in a row is a great way to head to Le Mans – the most important race on our schedule.”

CORVETTE DPs AT LAGUNA SECA: Chevrolet Regains Prototype Engine Manufacturer Lead

Third runner-up finish for Jordan, Ricky Taylor in Wayne Taylor Racing Corvette DP

MONTEREY, Calif. (May 4, 2014) – Jordan Taylor and Ricky Taylor gave the Corvette Daytona Prototype program another podium finish Sunday at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, moving Chevrolet back into the lead of the Engine Manufacturer championship standings for the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship.

The two brothers drove the No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Corvette DP to a runner-up finish – their third such result in four rounds of the inaugural TUDOR Championship.

"Congratulations to Ricky and Jordan Taylor, and Wayne Taylor Racing on today's runner-up Prototype finish,” said Jim Lutz, Chevrolet’s Program Manager for Corvette Daytona Prototypes. “Given the difference in performance between the Corvette DPs and the rest of the field, this is an outstanding achievement and moves Chevrolet back into the lead of the Prototype Engine Manufacturer championship."

Unofficially, Chevrolet now leads the category by one point.

Action Express Racing’s Joao Barbosa and Christian Fittipaldi placed fifth in the No. 5 Corvette DP. All four Corvette DPs entered led the race at one point. The No. 90 Spirit of Daytona entry of Richard Westbrook and Michael Valiante led the first 26 laps, and Marsh Racing’s No. 31 Corvette DP of Eric Curran and Boris Said led just prior to the race’s midpoint.

The next round of the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship is the Chevrolet Sports Car Classic presented by Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers on May 31 from The Raceway at Belle Isle Park.

JORDAN TAYLOR, NO. 10 KONICA MINOLTA WAYNE TAYLOR RACING CORVETTE DP, FINISHED 2ND

“That was as good as we could have done. We knew coming in here the P2s were going to be strong. Going on that out lap, I knew that was where they struggled and we had to make the most of it. We made a move around the No. 90 and the No. 5 and got the lead; we were able to stretch it but as soon as we made that last stop, we were saving fuel all the way to the end and I think we were the only Daytona Prototype to do that. We should be happy with a second-place here, and good points for the rest of the season.”

RICKY TAYLOR, NO. 10 KONICA MINOLTA WAYNE TAYLOR RACING CORVETTE DP, FINISHED 2ND

“We didn’t expect to beat the P2, but it's a really good points day. Jordan did a great job. The team did a great job making the changes overnight – really transformed our car. We’ll go on to some of the strong tracks for us and I think we are in a really good position. We did some mechanical things to the car, and went back to what we knew from last year and the car was really, really strong.”

CORVETTE RACING AT LAGUNA SECA: Pole Position for Garcia, Corvette C7.R

Corvettes on front two rows in GT Le Mans class for Sunday’s two-hour race

· Second straight pole position for No. 3 Corvette C7.R

· Gavin, Milner to start fourth in GTLM

· Front-row qualifying effort for Westbrook in Prototype class

MONTEREY, Calif. (May 3, 2014) – Antonio Garcia continued Corvette Racing's stellar record at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca today with pole position in the GT Le Mans class. The Spanish star captured his first fastest qualifier honor with Corvette Racing with a lap of 1:22.373 (97.809 mph) in the No. 3 Chevrolet Corvette C7.R.

"It was a great lap by Antonio and a great day for Corvette Racing," said Mark Kent, Chevrolet's Director of Racing. "A second straight pole position in this class is no easy achievement. It speaks volumes to the team's preparation, strategy and execution with the new Chevrolet Corvette C7.R."

Corvette Racing will be on the front two rows in the class. Oliver Gavin qualified the No. 4 Corvette C7.R fourth on the grid at 1:22.768 (97.342 mph). Sunday's two-hour race for the TUDOR United Championship's GTLM and Prototype classes begins at 2:45 p.m. PT.

“The lap was pretty good… right on the limit everywhere,” said Garcia, who teams with Jan Magnussen. “The Corvette C7.R worked pretty good. I just have to carry on the momentum we have.”

A victory Sunday would be the third straight in Monterey for Corvette Racing. Garcia and Magnussen won last year while Gavin and Tommy Milner were victorious in 2012. In both instances, the race winners went on to win the driver's championships in the American Le Mans Series. All totaled, Corvette Racing will go for its seventh victory at the circuit since 2004, and Garcia’s pole was the fourth time a Corvette Racing driver was the fastest qualifier in class.

Garcia and Magnussen also are coming off a victory in the most recent TUDOR Championship race at Long Beach in April. It was a double podium for the team with Gavin and Milner third.

CORVETTE DP: Westbrook second in qualifying for Spirit of Daytona

Richard Westbrook led the contingent of Corvette DP drivers in the TUDOR Championship’s Prototype category. The Englishman set a lap of 1:18.788 (102.259 mph) in Spirit of Daytona’s No. 90 Corvette DP. Westbrook, going for his third straight pole at Laguna Seca, was just 0.227 seconds off Johannes van Overbeek’s pole-winning time.

Three Corvette DPs will make up the first three rows in Sunday’s race. Christian Fittipaldi was fifth for the championship-leading No. 5 Action Express Racing entry at 1:19.175 (101.759 mph). Ricky Taylor qualified sixth in Wayne Taylor Racing’s No. 10 Corvette DP at 1:19.504 (101.338 mph).

Live television coverage of the Continental Tire Monterey Grand Prix starts at 5:30 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1.

The TUDOR Championship is the result of a merger between the ALMS and GRAND-AM’s Rolex Sports Car Series. Corvette Racing will compete in 11 races around North America plus the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

CAMARO Z/28: Second-Place Finish for CKS duo of Curran, Aschenbach

Eric Curran and Lawson Aschenbach scored the second straight podium for the new Chevrolet Camaro Z/28.R on Saturday with a runner-up finish in the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge Grand Sport (GS) race. Curran qualified second and led the majority of his stint, and Aschenbach finished 0.473 seconds behind John Edwards’ BMW.

This was the first race for the Camaro Z/28.R following a GS victory at Sebring. Stevenson Motorsports’ Robin Liddell and Andrew Davis won there. Stevenson’s duo of Matt Bell and Andy Lally were 11th in the No. 6 Stevenson Camaro on Saturday.

The next round of the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge is May 24 at Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, Conn.

TUDOR CHAMPIONSHIP QUOTES

ANTONIO GARCIA, NO. 3 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

"This a good sign. The car really worked good. It was really difficult with this practice situation where you actually never got any clear lap or any clear feel of the car. So we were just kind of guessing or taking parts of every single lap we did on different parts just to make the car faster. It was a gamble but I think I’m on the right team to do it. The car was really good right out of the box, and Jan did most of the practice. That paid off quite a lot because he kept working on the car making it faster. And even if I did just 10 laps of practice too, the car he gave me was already really good.”

(Success in Monterey) “This race track has a nice history with Corvette Racing. Last year we were up front and ended up winning. And now with the C7.R it looks like even better. I think the guys did tremendous work back home, and even if we have a very limited time of practice, maybe that is a good thing. Maybe if you give more time to the other people, they will get closer. The car worked really good, and I did a pretty good lap also.”

OLIVER GAVIN, NO. 4 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

“It was nice to get out there on track with nobody else. I didn’t have any trouble with traffic, or anything like that. I just didn’t get the most out of tire when I compare my lap to Antonio’s. I lost time in particular corners where I needed to commit a little bit more and just get the rear of the car loaded up. I just didn’t hit the tire at the point where it had maximum grip. That is exactly where Antonio executed, and I didn’t manage to do that unfortunately. But I think there are a couple of setup changes in the mix as well that we need to go and look at. But that’s the way it can be when you only have two hours of track time. You take a stab at it, and sometimes you hit it right and sometimes you don’t. Today we didn’t quite get it right, but the No. 3 car did, and they’re the pole position winners which is great for them."

RICHARD WESTBROOK, NO. 90 SPIRIT OF DAYTONA CORVETTE DP

"Last year we had a one-lap wonder car, and this year it feels like we have a better car. It wasn't very smooth going into qualifying. We had a clutch issue in Practice 2, and I thought we were going to have the same issue in qualifying. The guys did a good job to band-aid it up, so I can't say it hindered me in qualifying but it was always in the back of my mind that it could come back. We will get that changed for the race. The car is behaving for the race. Of course I wanted pole - I'd be lying if I said I didn't - but starting from the front row is great for our recovery."

CONTINENTAL SPORTSCAR CHALLENGE QUOTE

LAWSON ASCHENBACH, NO. 01 CKS AUTOSPORT CAMARO Z/28.R

“We had a really good Team Chevy CKS Autosport Camaro Z/28.R. The guys have been working really hard since Sebring to counter this weight the series added to us. Unfortunately at the end we didn’t have any tires or brakes left. I was kind of hanging on there for dear life, and luckily the guys behind me starting fight among themselves. So we’re happy with second place. It’s a great momentum for our team. Sebring felt like we were kicked in the stomach after doing so well. We’ll take P2 and hopefully we can do one spot better in the next race.”

CORVETTE RACING AT LAGUNA SECA: Gearing Up For Monterey Repeat

Riding high after first victory for Corvette C7.R at Long Beach

· Magnussen, Garcia aiming for repeat of 2013 victory

· Gavin, Milner were winners in 2012 GT race

· Final TUDOR Championship race before 24 Hours of Le Mans

DETROIT (April 29, 2014) – Fresh of its first victory of 2014 with the new Chevrolet Corvette C7.R, Corvette Racing heads back to California where it looks to win for the third straight season at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. The two-hour Continental Tire Monterey Grand Prix is the fourth round of the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship, and Corvette Racing looks to keep rolling as well as moving up in the GT Le Mans standings.

A victory near the picturesque Monterey, Calif., coastline would continue that nicely. Antonio Garcia and Jan Magnussen in the No. 3 Corvette led the charge at Long Beach with a wire-to-wire victory while Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner were third in the No. 4 C7.R. The driver pairings remain the same for Monterey, which plays host to the TUDOR Championship for a two-hour race starting at 2:45 p.m. PT on Sunday. And like Long Beach, the GTLM class will race together with the lead Prototype category.

Like many other places on the TUDOR Championship schedule, Laguna Seca has witnessed its share of Corvette Racing highlights. The team has six victories at the track since 2004, five pole positions – including three straight by Magnussen from 2007-09 – and seven fastest race laps.

Laguna Seca also is where the Corvette C7.R broke cover in public during last year’s Monterey Historic Festival weekend. Milner drove the new racecar – in camouflaged livery at the time – for a couple of laps. This time around, it’s a safe bet the C7.R will be traveling quicker and more aggressive around the circuit.

Success is difficult to come by there, however. The climate in the Monterey area is notorious for changing often throughout a weekend. Track temperatures can rise and fall suddenly, and sand frequently blows onto the circuit – both can create slick and slippery surface conditions. As a result, handling and stability will be at a premium. That should play into the hands of Corvette Racing given the construction of the Corvette C7.R.

Based on the 2015 Corvette Z06 production car, the C7.R’s rigid frame gives the car improved cornering ability and stability. Those factors plus the Corvette’s impressive braking performance and tire management will be key to the team’s success this weekend.

Corvette Racing Display: For the Fans in Monterey

As if the on-track action at Laguna Seca isn’t enough for fans, the Corvette Racing display will have a number of activities and vehicles for spectators to take in, including:

Production vehicles such as the North American Truck of the Year, the Chevrolet Silverado, as well as the Camaro, Sonic and Impala.
Showcars on location include a Corvette C7.R, and both a Corvette Stingray coupe and convertible, the North American Car of the Year.
Fans can see a sample of engines, parts and accessories available for purchase from Chevrolet at their local Chevrolet dealer.
Other activities at the Corvette Racing Display include a variety of interactive games for adults and kids.
Fans who sign up with Corvette Racing will receive a special commemorative t-shirt.

The Corvette Racing display opens 9 a.m. Friday and 8 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

ANTONIO GARCIA, NO. 3 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

(Race outlook) “We are going back to Laguna with a different format; the last three years I ran there in long-distance races. Last year was especially close – mostly because of the yellows – but at the end it was a big win for us. It was the first win of the year for the No. 3 car and where things started to turn in our favor for the championship. Between Jan, myself and the whole No. 3 Corvette team, we’ve always felt pretty confident at Laguna Seca. No one is exactly sure how the new Corvette C7.R will work there, but there is no reason to think it won’t work better than the C6.R. The other manufacturers will be strong so we need to keep performing the way we have this season – especially the way we did at Long Beach.”

(Keys to success) “Laguna is always very difficult to approach because you never know the temperature and how the tires are going to work. It can be a really cold race or a race with very nice temperatures. It will be very important to anticipate that in order to make the car work. The track is a little narrow so you really need to make the tires work otherwise there is a point where you can struggle quite a bit.

“It will be a shorter race but also a two-category race. So that means things may be very clean. As a result, it is very important to keep in touch with the lead car… if it’s not us. It could be another race like Long Beach with no yellows. Personally, I’d very happy to run another race like that where we led from Lap 1 with no yellows!”

JAN MAGNUSSEN, NO. 3 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

(Track impressions) “Laguna Seca is one of my absolute favorite tracks. I’ve always enjoyed driving there and it’s in a fantastic area. The track is very interesting. The layout suits the Corvette and suits my driving style. It’s always a great feeling driving there. We have had some success there in the past. Last year, we won the race and it was what really kicked off our championship run. I’m looking forward to another good result. It would be nice to back up the Long Beach win with another one at Laguna Seca.”

(Last year’s race) “The thing that stands out is that while Antonio was in the lead for all of his stint, the rest of us on the No. 3 car were sitting there thinking what was going to go wrong. We had been so close to winning races in 2012 and the smallest mistakes cost us wins. It wasn’t really until the car crossed the line that we accepted we had won the race! We were so used to losing it in different ways. So that was fantastic and really started our championship run. It proved to everyone that our car could win. It was the first win for Antonio and me. Hopefully we can have another great race with a bunch of points and maybe another win.”

OLIVER GAVIN, NO. 4 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

(Track thoughts) “Laguna Seca is a great race track. It’s one of the premier tracks in the U.S., and one that everyone enjoys going to. It’s a great part of the world, and the layout is a unique one. It’s a challenge to get a good lap together there. Generally it’s a low-grip surface and you can be punished for mistakes. But it is a circuit that has a great flow to it and one that you get a lot of satisfaction driving around.

(The past and present) In the last few years – particularly with the GT car – Corvette Racing has been very competitive there. The No. 3 car won there last year, and Tommy (Milner) and I won there the year before. It seems that whatever setup we land upon seems to one that work well there. Our car is solid on the brakes and seems to rotate in and to the apex of the corners, and we can bear down on the apexes pretty well in most of the medium- and slow-speed corners. It just seems that our car can work efficiently there and I can see that the C7.R is strong in all those departments. We’ve improved the traction with the new car, and all of those things should help us going back to Laguna. I’m buoyed by our performances in all three events we’ve done so far in the TUDOR Championship. We have a fantastic car in the C7.R, and I feel that right now we can fight with everyone for the victory. That’s a great position to be in. We are in a nice spot where we can attack and hope to come away with great results.”

TOMMY MILNER, NO. 4 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R

(Progress so far) “I’m not surprised that we had good results at Long Beach. We saw in all the testing and racing during the first few events that the Corvette C7.R was quick and competitive. Each time we go to a track this season, it’s the first time there with the C7.R, but there is still lots of carryover from years past and a wealth of knowledge that we can pull from. Judging from how the car has performed, we should be extremely competitive at Laguna.”

(Rolling out the C7.R last summer in Monterey) “That was obviously something that was pretty cool. It was my first experience sitting in the car. It’s great to now go back there with the race car. The two laps I did at the Historics were not really in anger… I was very conscious of the fact that I needed to be sure that nothing went wrong! It’s exciting to go back to Laguna where the public first saw the car. It would be great to win there, and it would be even better if it were Oliver and I to get a victory this time!”

(Laguna preparations) “Laguna is definitely tough in regards to tire wear and balance of the car. There’s not as much sand as there used to be that comes on the track but there is still quite a bit. The track has definitely improved that by putting curbing in certain areas which makes it difficult to bring sand on the circuit. But it’s definitely a prominent feature of the track. Laguna is a place that if you don’t have the balance of the car spot on, you’ll suffer throughout a stint. Getting the setup spot-on is pretty important. So far this year, we’ve rolled off the truck with cars that have been pretty well-balanced. I’m optimistic that it won’t be a problem for us. Depending on how our pace is compared to our competitors, you work that much harder to find any advantage. The schedule is pretty compressed so it’s important for the guys back at the Corvette Racing shop to make sure they get the balance as good as it can possibly be so we can fine-tune things in practice instead of swinging wildly at it.”

DOUG FEHAN, CORVETTE RACING PROGRAM MANAGER

"It's always great to return to the Monterey Peninsula, especially coming off our well-deserved victory at Long Beach. Laguna Seca is one of the sport's iconic venues and a place where Corvette Racing has a long history of success. To win there requires a car with great braking and handling along with proper tire selection, pit stop execution and good track management by the drivers. I think the C7.R, the crew and our drivers have clearly demonstrated all those capabilities in the first three events this season. Combine all that and it should make for another exciting weekend of racing for all our Corvette fans!"
