Thanks for the reply. You are right on Bill with the H32, it would pop on half way home, then it would be out the next time I started it up. I've had four trouble free years of driving it, I've added lots more miles. I figured eventually things would start wearing out. I'll fix the EGR valve and look for vacuum leaks. I foot in front of the other, thanks gents

Hello everyone, it's been awhile. My 92 has been running great until now. It started running very rough (engine shakes like it has a huge cam), spark knocking, back firing, and lousy acceleration. All gauges look normal. It is a 1992 Lt1 with almost 160k, no mods, automatic. My first thought was the Opti and I did some research here and that sounded close. I used Andy's write up for checking codes (very cool, thanks Andy)but what I got back was not what I had expected.

1 C.12
4.H28 Quad Driver 3
H32 EGR Valve/circuit
H68 A/C Relay error (explains why AC never shuts off).
H72 Gear Selector Switch Error
---
9. ---

I grabbed my Helms Manuals (again, the first purchase after I got my 92 as recommended by the Gurus)I found everything in the manuals. My question is: Can an faulty EGR Valve cause this much trouble? Does this info tell you something I am not seeing? Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you

Truck brake rotors price difference?

This could also cover all rotor purchases as well. I have a 1996 GMC Sierra Ext. Cab 4x4. I just bought it and it seems like the front rotors are warped, pedal pulses. Advanced Auto has two rotors available, one for $25.49 and the other for $59.99. Is cheap cheap? I can't seem to find any other difference besides price, is there something else? Your experience is greatly needed, Thanks.

Obama is a smashing success. He is a student of Rules for Radicals By Saul Alinsky and everything is according to plan. The Dems have controlled congress the last three 1/2 years with the push over Bush at the helm. The Republicans before that....PLEASE! They won control and didn't know what to do with it. McCain would have done nothing differently other than maybe not bow to royalty and bad mouth America. McCain is the reason I did not vote Republican in 2008, Libertarian (the closest thing to a conservative I could find).

I agree about the reboot, our government does not fear us and have only contempt. They seem to have forgotten who works for who. I no longer see them as Dems or Repubs but rather statesmen civil servants or scumbags. Hells bells, America's got growing pains.

J3studio, that is a sweet tool box. Wow!. My wife got me a very nice fitted car cover for mine. That's about it for the vette. Last year she got me a t-shirt and a "Corvette only" parking sign for my garage. To help her out I got her a catalog from Corvette Central, moving her into the right direction. I showed her your tool box and made sure she knew that that would be a great gift for next year.

I have a stock 92 LT1 with auto, D36 w/2.59 gears, turn ASR off and hammer the throttle, up in smoke. I don't do it often but sometimes it just makes me smile:toothy5:. As for money reason, most tires have a 30k mile or more useful life, at an average of 5k a year thats about 6 years before replacement. I like to change up every three years or so anyway, no problem. I had a pro street 69 GTO with 19.5x33x15 Mickey Thompsons at 1k per year it would have taken 30 yrs to wear them out, they would rot before then, soooooo.......burn baby burn, usually a crowd pleaser. Life in a nut shell.

Are the pics of the rims above considered "sawblades"? The picture bellow is for the 1991. I would assume that the C5 brakes will not fit behind the saws, but will with the A-molds. Mine were really beat up and even though I like them I ended up buying the gray Z06 rims for my 92. The GS A-molds were a very close second. In the end it is a beautiful car with a cool engine. Thanks for the pics.

LOL, my 92 IS white and I want it to be red. Mine has the beige interior which I love.

Sweet90, blasphemy? Sawblades came stock. I am not a fan of the early ZR1 sawblades but the ones that came on my 92 LT1 I like on the Z with the 315's out back, beefy.

OHHHH Swwwweeeeet! I'll take it. That is the ultimate C4 for me, perfect color in and out. The only change I would make is I rather like the saw blades on the ZR1. A guy at my work brought his in and that's what he had. Very nice car sir.

Sweet deal. My wife wants me to get a newer truck for some towing and some hauling. I want something like a crew cab so I can seat about four people comfortably. I hadn't considered the Avalanche, looked on ebay and there are lots of them. I prefer a manual trans but couldn't find one. Did they come with a standard trans?

Well said. Buy the C6, use the difference to get a family type car. We use my wife's 07 Malibu for family stuff, and when she's at work I have a pickup I can use to haul the youngin's. I drive my vette everywhere, about 200 miles a week average. That's my 2 cents.

Run Tommy, get your gun, save yourself...

Pack of raccoons mauls 74-year-old Florida woman
Control officers hope to trap the animals

Updated: Monday, 05 Oct 2009, 3:56 PM EDT
Published : Monday, 05 Oct 2009, 9:10 AM EDT

LAKELAND, Fla. (AP) - A 74-year-old who was "filleted" by raccoons when she tried to shoo them away from her central Florida home was hospitalized for more than two days, authorities said Monday.

Gretchen Whitted, of Lakeland, was in stable condition Monday, two days after she saw a family of raccoons near her back patio. She told rescue personnel she tried to wave the animals away; a few minutes later, she spotted them at her front door and tried to run them off again. Then they attacked.

Whitted fell, and the five animals bit and clawed at her, Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said.

"They enveloped her," the sheriff said.:

"We're not talking about a lot of little bites here," Judd added. "She was filleted."

A neighbor called for help after hearing the woman's cries and seeing her covered in blood.

Whitted received dozens of staples and sutures and was treated for rabies, though officials doubt the animals were infected.

Fire crews flooded nearby drains where some of the animals escaped, but none turned up. Animal Control officers hope to catch them in traps baited with wet cat food and sardines.

"I've been a hunter all my life and I've never heard of raccoons attacking in a mob like this," Judd said.

1996 Grand Sport, this is the factory original setup, the stripes on the fender are what I added, vinyl of course. Easier to judge if I liked them with out the commitment of painting them. They come in any color you could want and then some.

I am ready to live without snow, will move in the future but for now here I am. Tonight on the drive home the temp read 48 degrees, feels like it rides harder. Heater works great. The up side of winter is the down time to do work without feeling rushed to get it back on the road. This season I will install all new stereo equipment and interior upgrades. It's ran great all summer, maybe some bling under the hood.

Thanks for the compliments.

Yea, I've been here almost two years and haven't posed any pics of my ride. I just got the camera a few weeks ago and I'm still learning how to use all the features. The first two photos are from earlier this summer with the GS stripes(both sides). I liked them, really set me apart...a little to much, so I took them off. The rest I took today before leaving for work. The last photo is of my house with the new roof and siding, 15K, just think of the mods I could have done. Oh well, the misses is happy so I am happy. I'll be putting it up for the season at the end of this month.

I think I was called a "California Howdy" and it sounds like an insult. I am not sure what it means but it was used in the sentence "Women don't wave to a California Howdy". I had stated that women in Corvettes don't usually wave or return a wave (only once had I received a wave from a woman driving a C5, I find women driving vettes very sexy). It is a friendly gesture, not a pick up. Was I dissed with the "Howdy" remark?

A lot of this hits close to home. My son called me to come hear something weird on the phone. He said it was making a strange beeping sound....I informed him that was a busy signal, he was dumb founded. My eight year old was similarly puzzled when he could not fit my 45's into the cd player. I realized I could not demonstrate how they are used since none of my current stereo equipment had a turn table. Hmmmmm. I miss album art the most.

Wow, I had just turned 16 and finishing up working on my first car with my dad, a 1968 Pontiac GTO convertible. I had found a Tripower intake from a 65, god I miss that car. MTV was on ALL the time. I loved the 80's. Never gonna have kids, never gonna get married, and lookin' to be a pro funny car driver. Ahhhh, youth.

Thanks, I have removed the dunce cap now that I have been learned. Wow, Thanks Tommy for the video. Very uncharacteristic, but very relaxing.....I like it. I am a big Ozzy fan but never heard much of Sabath. Fluff seems rather obscure and unique, good screen name. Fluff it is.

Skirlin, I play the great highland bagpipes. When you play in a rock band your jammin, I coined the the phrase skurlin from the skurl of the pipes but when I tried to use it as a screen name the first time 'skurlin' was taken so I changed it to 'skirlin' and I have used it ever since.

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Tampa police say Billy Mays, the television pitchman known for his boisterous hawking of products such as Orange Glo and OxiClean, has died. He was 50.

I liked his infomercials. Gonna miss him, Vince??? Hmmmm...?

Mine came with Hankook Ventus HRII on the sawblades, great tire in the rain but only comes max of 255, too small and only speed rate H (up to 130mph).

I bought new Sumitomo HTRZ (Z rated) 275's all around mounted on 2006 Z06 rims. They handle good in the rain. I only have about 2500 miles on them so I'm waiting on tread wear. They are an inexpensive tire so it's all good.

I have had a great day, grilled T-bones, yum. I received a new stereo for the vette from my two boys. Moderately priced but way better than the current one, it has the aux input for my MP3 player, yeah....no more cd's. It is already installed. Happy father's day everyone.

Damn, been there divorced that. There is a bright side though, at least you were not married with kids. A clean break without child support or alimony.

This will cheer ya up....

Ok, maybe this instead....

I have seem some great quotes in the signature lines and I have saved them in the past. Since my computer crashed and I did not back up anything I have started a new collection on my new computer (I now have the backup religion). There is one I remember I really liked but can't remember it all. It had a phrase in it like "...full throttle until you see the face of god, then brake." Does anyone know the whole phrase? thanks. Dave.

Thanks for the write up. It is stories like this that help me keep my cool when working on my cars knowing that it happens to even experienced mechanics.

Good morning everyone. Matt, that is BS on a major scale. If you wait until the last minute they gouge you but that ranks up there with last minute cancellation. Go customer service. Does the government run the airlines too? This screams customer service government style.

Not much happening here, kinda cool this morning. I've been considering joining the local Corvette Club but I'm not sure I fit the profile. Hmmmmm. Have a great day everyone.

Wow, that is a tough one. I have always been a big fan of GM cars. I have owned vehicles from all the major manufacturers and one VW Jetta and a Datsun 280Z (fun car). Buy new? My last car bought new was a 2007 Malibu for my wife, nice car. I really like the new Camaro and the current Malibu looks better but I do not like how this whole bankruptcy went down so for now I would not buy GM. As much as I hate to say it only Ford has my respect for hanging tough. Get the government out and I will buy again. I was watching FoxNews earlier and they unveiled the new line of GM cars that will be offered, I was not interested in anything but the Camaro. I also noticed the Corvette was nowhere to be seen, if they discontinue the Corvette I will never buy a new car from them again.

I do not own many movies but I have 'Ferris Bueller's Day Off' on DVD. This movie had a huge impact on my high school attendance. Anyway, Cameron's house, the all glass house the Ferrari crash into the ravine from is for sale.

Considering the current housing market I wonder if they would consider a 300 year mortgage.

I live in the country and my closest neighbor is across the street (everyone else is a least a half mile away) and they are major gearheads. It is not unusual for them to bring out their modified 4x4's with open pipes to do four wheel burnouts. I'm cool with that, though my wife finds it mildly irritating. Here is a video I found amusing, thought I would share.

LOL, SHHHHHHHHH....baby is sleeping.

Good afternoon everybody. Today marks the end of the fourth week in a row I have driven the vette into work everyday. After last years various problems keeping it off the road I vowed this year would be different. It's looking good so far. Besides, it gets twice the gas millage my truck does, good enough for me.

It's in the mid 60's and overcast but it's Friday so it's all good. See ya.
