My other code is the ecbm code 73. For an open or short on circuit 1687. After reading the fsm it looks like I need to put a 3k ohm resistor in line and ground the grey/ black wire?

No luck at Dakota. It's in the security system. I'm trying to see if the answer is any write up for an LS swap. I don't want the SYS flashing.

I started the car today!! There are still a few items to clean up. The CCM doesn't like the ecm being removed, so I am getting the CCM C41 code (lost communication with ECM). Is there a signal generator I could wire to the serial data and bypass this?

Exactly what are you asking here TPJ? What is the problem?

Can you post a schematic of what devices you have to tie together?

No real issue. I thought I could get away without a converter. By conecting the VSS signal wire and VSS output wire together, but found out the ECM converts the VSS signal then sends it to the CCM. I will get a converter to do this, so I will have a speedometer. The reason I thought I could get away with this is that the XFI accepts the VSS signal from the trans.

I have removed the factory ECM, and am installing a Fast XFI 2.0 controller. From the factory VSS I can hook into the the XFI controller. The question is the VSS output that was created by the factory ECM. In the red book page 8A-33-3 it says the ECM amplifies and converts the sine wave created by the VSS to a square wave and this is what is supplied to the CCM. I was thinking I could tie the output wire to the signal wire, but now it looks like I need a converter?

I have always had luck using a drill to remove the end of a door pin. Start with a decent pilot bit, and drill through the side of the pin. Then step it up to one bigger than the pin.

Their harness does have all of the factory plugs. With the kit they send a jump drive with their software. On here they also have the install instructions, and wiring diagrams. I have the XFI 2.0, which will use the pick-up in the opti for spark timing. They said with the EZ 2.0 I would need the crank sensor also.

It is still a lot of work, because I want all of the factory wiring that will not be used to be removed. I could go the easy route and lay their harness in with the existing.

Tommy, I'll have to say the seats aren't as big as they were in high school.

I replaced all suspension items. The floor jack would not fit under the sub-frame, and one of the rear leafs only had one spring left intact. When I had the front off it had a good look, and the rear bumper wouldn't have been reinstalled if it wasn't so shiny. It's a lot of blue, as the interior is also all blue.

Although I haven't posted I am still here. Last year I found a 1978 Nova 4 door. My first car was almost identical, except for the color and being one year older. I've been doing some restoring on it. The body is straight, no issues with floor pans or rust. When I looked at it the car is all original. It has a 305 with a/c, and 98,000 miles. Here are pictures from when I bought it to now. I have also cleaned and re-carpeted the interior.

Has anyone installed the Fast XFI on an LT1. I bought the system earlier this year, but just now am able to install it. There isn't a good install instruction manual. Fast said to I can remove the factory ECM for a cleaner look. I just want to be sure that I'm not going to have to go back and fix something.

I'm going to be removing the Split Second tuning programmer from my car. This is a piggyback system for the 92-93 LT1. This system makes it so you can program with a laptop and not have to remove the prom. You will need a separate wideband to check the AFR. Split Second does not recommend going more than 1.5 times the factory injector size. This is where I have run into issues.

When tuning you have a chart to enter numbers to adjust the fuel and timing. The downside is after changing the parameters you have to shut down the engine to upload the new chart. Which takes about a minute or two. This is still faster than pulling the prom.

I'm asking $300 for the system. If no one is interested I will post it on Ebay when removed.

Here is a link from Split Second.

I have a new master cylinder to install. The old one is full of crud. On the new reservoir it doesn't have a prime hose connection. I've tried to clean the old one, but cannot get to all of it. I'm thinking of getting a brass fitting and attach it to the new reservoir.

I relocated mine to the front of the frame by the opti. This is where Procharger has you relocate it. It sits low so the hose in and out rest on the frame.

They are ceramic pads with about 4kon them. The fluid was flushed at this time too. Today after a bit of driving I released the pressure with the bleeder and the wheel spun free, so that rules out the caliper or pads sticking. I pumped them back up and released the hose from the line and the wheel spun free again. I did this several times at both locations. So I am leaning towards the master cylinder.

When hot the front brakes release slow. After using the brakes my car will have a shutter and out slowly goes away. I was checking to make sure everything was tight and realized my front wheels would not turn freely. After they cooled it was fine. Then I pressed the brakes again and it was back, but not as bad. I tried this again when fully cooled and no issue.

O'Reilly's.

I called the previous owner, he told me he only had the hood and one of the doors painted. This means the Arctic White is the correct color. I brought the panel in to take a picture by itself. I noticed the front flange where there isn't any clear is not as dark.

I have resanded it and will put another coat of paint on it tonight, and compare the color before I put any clear on.

By itself it looks as it will match. Its when I put it next to the car it looks darker. There is a section of original white when I lift the hood by the windshield, and this panel matches it. You cannot see the shine in the picture, but it looks good. This is a rattle can job, so I only have $10 in it so far. I have a friend at a local body shop that will be able to match it.

I had to replace my lower fender on the drivers side. The only one I could find was a black one. I bought it and painted it arctic white. I already knew my car had a new paint job. Now I know it's not arctic white.

My DD is a ZR2 S10. They are known for eating wheel hub assemblies. It has 103k and is about to go on its third set. I'm starting to get noise from the front driver at 30mph+. They're easy to change.

It was the wheel bearing. I checked the drivers side and it had the same play, but it also has a tad of front to back. With the wheel off and a bar laying from the carrier hub to the rotor (zip tied tight to the carrier side) I could see the movement at the rotor. I installed the new bearing and the play is gone.

When I jack up my car I can wiggle the rear wheel about 1/8 of an inch from top to bottom. It's not there if I try from front to back of the wheel. I've been thinking of changing the wheel bearing hub. Tonight I removed the hub and it seems fine. It rolls smooth with a slight resistance. I have Banski on the trailing arms and camber.

My only idea is that the wheel bolt is not properly torqued, but why is the play only from top to bottom.

I just put a new engine in my GMC jimmy. The front seal between the timing chain cover and the oil pan is leaking. There is about an 1/8 inch gap where you can see the seal between the two. It is leaking at the part that meets the pan. Any ideas to seal this without having to pull the engine or the pan.

Well no SES light yet, but I still not convinced. The car seemed that it was still running rich. I have true duals, and so I cannot see what the driver side is actually doing. Tomorrow I will pull the O2's to see if if one is still carboned along with the spark plugs.

Tonight I switched the O2's side for side. This will see if the right bank was lean, or if the O2 that was reading lean would switch the code to the left side. The right had carbon, and the left was clean. These are new 3 wire O2's. I unhooked the heater wire too. After 15 minutes of sitting at an idle there wans't a SES light and the AFR was jumping around 14.7. Last night I had checked the connections and cleared the codes.

While the car was running it did pull itself rich and then back lean as it was learning. When it was running last night it did the same, but kept getting richer. I have reset the codes before trying again.

Although things looked good I am still not 100% convinced. I am still using all of the same parts.

My car is a '92 which has batch fire. My question is with one O2 sensor disconnected will the car still go into a closed loop?

The setup: I have a piggyback controller on my car. To tune it you disconnect the O2's and adjust the fuel map to the desired fuel ratio. When done plug the O2's back in to allow the factory ecm to adjust the fuel ratio. The piggyback modifies the injector signal, so you can add more or less fuel from the factory ecm pulses.

The situation: I have the fuel ratio's close. 14.5 at idle 13's under acceleration and 12.2 at WOT. With this I plugged the O2's back in and it is pulling to the rich side. At an idle it is reading 11, then I get a code 64 which is lean on the right side. The same side my wideband is hooked into.

Anyway tonight I disconnected the right O2, and now I have 14.0 for my idle. Is there a simple way to find out if my right O2 is faulty and reading lean, which would make the ECM want to add fuel. When I am driving the SES light goes away, but the AFR is reading 10.

You can put me on that list. My only complaint is my work is 7 miles away, and it takes 10 minutes to get there. I did pick my two year old daughter up from daycare in it a few weeks ago. She loved the launches from the stop signs.

Yes, I haven't installed it yet. The open double space in the panel on the left is where the breaker will be. I am looking at a 60gal from Quincy.

Here are a few photo's. The insulation should be installed in a few days. Then I can finish the walls.

Still making progress. The electric is almost done. I am hoping to be done within the next two weeks. The interior metal is arriving Wednesday.

I think it depends on what state you live in. Not all operate in certain states. I have Farmers and have been happy. All of my vehicles are fully insured. I call my agent, tell him what coverage I want, and its done.

I may convert the house garage to a gameroom, or a bedroom. The way the house was built you wouldn't be able to tell that it was a garage at one point.

The door is on and the concrete is going in on Friday. I am looking forward to having an air compressor and a parts washer. The first project is probably the motorcycle, or at least taking it apart since I will have the room.

Wow, nice! Is it heated? Are you gonna build a second floor inside? Lift? Details?

Heat during the summer and cooling during the winter. I am planning on insulating which will help the extremes. The ceiling is 12', but a lift is not in the budget.

I am looking forward to having the room, so I won't have to switch it up going from one project to another.

I finally will have some room to work. Currently I have a single car that I have been working out of. The new one is a 30x40 that is in progress. A few weeks ago I had an excavating company level out an area. Last week the shop went up. The door was on back order so it will be installed in a day or two. I don't know how well these pictures are, but here they are anyway.

There are two holes on the bottom of the filler that will line up with the bottom plate screws.

My newest is a PPK/S, and just in time for the new Bond movie. Its the two tone stainless version. I had it on order for a few months. Its accurate for a small gun, and can fit 8 rounds.

Here are a few thoughts as why they may say no side to side. Some may forget that having one drive wheel off the ground will allow the car to move. By lifting one side there is a chance the lateral load on the tire may be too much and pop it off of the bead (this would be an extreme case).

Just be sute the stands are on a solid surface, and located in the correct position.

I used the 1" wrap on mine. It took some time to get it done.
