So I decided to call Carolina clutch and see what they had to say. They had me text a picture of the clutch and after receiving the pic they called me back and offered to help me out on the purchase of a new setup and gave me free shipping. So that made my day. It will be here Thursday and I just got a new insert for my flywheel today. I hope to be running again by this weekend.

They my resell spec for certain cars but the horsepower levels and physical appearance of their different stages for the c4 are totally different from anything I've seen on specs website. Or they make a cheaper product for them to sell.

I tore it all apart and found the hub of my friction disk was missing some springs. And that I also think was causing the pressure plate to not release. But I have come to the conclusion that I am not buying another Carolina clutch. I found a clutch masters or a spec that seem reasonable ($500ish) but don't really know how I feel about either because I haven't really heard anything about clutchmaster and mixed reviews of spec. And input would be great!!

Seeing as how he said it used to work in third definitely points to low fluid because it couldn't maintain pressure in both circuits. And if you were to cross your t's and dot your i's you should have replaced the torque converter after he attempted to fix it the first time. It sounds as though your "mechanic" isn't all that well versed in transmissions. Buy a rebuilt trans with a converter and save yourself a headache.

3rd gear clutch pack is shot if it has the proper fluid level. Overdrive is a combination of the application of the 2nd gear band and the 3rd gear clutch pack. Im a little rusty on 700r4/4l60's. But if you've bad a low fluid level or a clogged filter it could have easily cause this. It sounds like it considering you said it has slow shifts and lack of gears.

I'm going to try and bleed the system out. If that's not it I'm going to have to drop the trans and find out what the hell is happening. I will have some news for you soon. And pics if its more then air in the system. But it feels normal. So who knows.

It will go in gear but it creeps as you are trying to jam it in. It WILL go in. But it's not easy and every gear is equally difficult. Engine off its as it normally is. You can start it in gear. The car moves unless you are on the brakes. Once under way it is like shifting without the clutch. I did what I had to do to get it to where I could work on it but it was not liking it. Nor was I. The pedal feels normal. It felt normal before I swapped everything out.

This all just instantly started happening. No signs of it. I've had to change the master and slave before. And dealt with the clutch issues. This is a new tranny. I've not really had a chance to beat on it. It's not been really race. And it's engine is not out if this world powerful. I am clueless as to what else it could possibly be.

so the other night i had my vette out and a friend ask to drive it. i went along with them they drove it way more normal then i was expecting but were complaining it was hard to shift. never grinding or seeming out of order. they were short so i assumed they werent pressing the pedal in enough. i get in the car to go home and it won't hardly go into any gear at all. shifts fine when the engine is off. so i replaced the clutch master cylinder and the slave cylinder. no difference. i recheck everything. dont know what to do other then drop the trans out and look at the fork. about 5 years ago i loc-tite'd the pivot ball into the bell housing cause it backed out on me. it made a mess of shavings and you could hear the fork rubbing the pressure plate when you pressed in the clutch.. none of this is going on. i am going to try to bleed the slave one more time as i didn't have a helper after a while. i tried putting a spacer between the slave and the fork. no difference. clutch has 4000 miles on it and the trans has about 2000. anyone have this problem?

i got the code to cut the key. so they gave me a key but it was the wrong chip. but i turned off the vats in the pcm and turned the key on and jumped the starter with a nickel and it started.. so once i put all my shit in my storage unit i am going put it in there and forget about it for quite a while.

i lost my one and only key to my car the other day.. went to the dealer but my vin didn't show a vats code. i tried getting to the build sheet but its a goner. its parked at a friends house and i need to get it into my storage unit so i can get the hell out of here. anyone know where i can get this info? the dealer called some hotline and they had to send it to level two which takes 24 hours. and i found out that defeating it in the pcm isn't enough.

they make an adapter plug but i think for a lt1 it would be an easy swap. i did this swap on a 96 or 98 buick lesabre. it was a direct swap. you could run either/or alternator.

I put a previously enjoyed LT1 in my trans am and it needed valve seal very badly. The oil light comes on when there is only 2 quarts left.

There isn't a hole in my moroso drag pan. I just left it disconnected. All is well. The sensor provides a ground, so having it unplug doesn't turn the light on.

don't bother with the buy back.. you are already doing something unique at a good price.. build it and charge.. if you aren't making a decent return you gotta do something to reward yourself..

yeah.. i would imagine the whole 350/400 as a big seller. just saying you couldn't go wrong with ls1 stuff. its a great idea. i would skip over if they want it or not.. just make it so you can do it. even if they dont know what they are doing bragging rights sells more parts then usefulness. look at AFR..lol.

i think that level of thinking is above the what the average tinkerer is willing to mess with. but, i would start with one for an ls1. it'd sell instantly.

well back in december i got really frustrated with my current situation and decided to apply for a job that i knew i would probably get i just didn't know how it would effect things like my relationship. but since that is dead and gone its no longer an issue. well, i got the job. found out yesterday. i am in the hiring process to work for KBR inc as a mechanic in iraq. i should be leaving in the next 5 to 8 weeks.

Without reading the whole thread, i would pick Guldstrands brain. You know they did their 93 Correctly, with 6 speed and LS-6. Looked factory. I bet they got help from GM too.
The LS-7 is a great idea, 427, 6 speed. Sweet.
I would first get the suspension and driveline ready to handle the engine. That way you are prepared as it is a torque monster, as well as high HP engine.
Its a hobby, and its better than drugs or alcohol, so do it the way you want as it is your car.

i know without a doubt that a d44 is not going to hang with a blown 427. i don't care what you do to it.
