Steve, is this vette the same '93 you raced in Hi 15+ years ago?
If so, I remember most of your posts which included you changing just
about every nut, bolt and vehicle component during your tour.

(Sorry, but I can't help with Wilcox)

Please excuse the intrusion .............

As posted by vetteblondie: "Looks like quite a large project Tommy! Congrats!"

Large project? Yes, especially the area labeled 'Dog Park'. Tommy might have to
take his pets in one-at-a-time.

Congrats to Sue for keeping Tommy busy with chores.

Nice work, Mike. Thank you.

Mike, if successful with Flickr, please advise. I just don't post many forum photos, so not very concerned, but interested, if needed. I will be experimenting with Flickr, also.

Awaiting my vette photo to change to a "small box", as suggested by Matthew.

My vette photo came from a Photbucket album. If I understood your response, I should not be able to post photos in this forum (?).

Have been reading the Photobucket posts, and have a question.

From Photobucket:

Free account : Each individual Member gets one free account that provides 2 GB of free storage or space available for your original photo files, or videos under 10min. The free account does not allow any image linking or 3rd party image hosting. If a free account Member exceeds their Content Limit, their account will be immediately suspended and they will need to become a “Paying Member” (defined below) in order to continue accessing their account. You can upgrade to a Plus account at any time.

According to the new rules: The free account does not allow any image linking or 3rd party image hosting.

Yet, I'm still able to share my album photos. Am I missing a start date for the new services?

May help (?). It is usually prudent to question authority:

"you won’t see a power or fuel efficiency increase by running high octane fuel in an engine that has been tuned and designed for Regular gas, nor will doing so perform any extra ‘cleaning’ inside the motor. On the flip side, running low octane fuel in an engine built for Premium can increase the risk of engine damage and will certainly impact that unit’s overall performance. The next time someone tries to pass these myths off on you, you can try explaining to them how octane ratings really work – or you can just smile and nod, pay for your gas and move on."

Welcome to the C4 Guru forum:

Check the brake fluid reservoir.....fill, if necessary.
Reservoir sensor is very 'sensitive', so keep the reservoir full.

If a full reservoir doesn't solve your ABS light problem,
you might check for DTC (diagnostic trouble codes).

You may have the 16 pin connector. See http://www.aldlcable.com

From the above link:

There are other styles of connectors, but the 12 pin OBD1 connector shown above is the most common. Some 1994-95 cars have the 16 pin OBD2 connector (shown below), Corvette's, Camaro's, and LT1 cars among them, as well as newer Australian Holden and Commodore. Even though it is an OBD2 connector, it has an OBD1 system behind it on these 94-95 cars.

After further study of this part, I discovered that the coolant that doesn't
pass through the small hole, is diverted to/through the barrel, eventually
joining with the coolant passing through the small hole. I'm guessing that
there is a slight delay of coolant flow, but not much.

It is a little more complex than just a smaller hole.

It is plastic... but it is in a hostile environment.

I don't think coolant condition would effect plastics as much as it effects metal. There isn't the same chemistry.

Think about it... plastics are more effected by temperature changes than anything else. Toss in the corrosive effects of coolant, under pressure, erosion is going to happen.

Coolant lives near boiling point. That can't be good... when a part is exposed to such an extreme range - below zero all the way up to 230F.

This is simply a replacement part. There is no avoiding it. And as these cars age, this is a likely replacement.

I decided to go with the GM part because the last one lasted. I don't know if the other brands use the same plastic, and I don't want to risk the part blowing apart at some point.

............................................

Thanks, Andy. No quarrel with your analysis.

Re the GM brand..... we don't know if it is the same part/composition made by the same manufacturer. Does ACDelco make any parts, or just package parts with the ACDelco name on the box? I'm quite aware that ACDelco markets many (all (?)) parts boxed with the ACDelco name on the box

$16 vs $8 is not a big deal, except if the $8 part is inferior. I will replace mine, and post a photo of the original part for comparison to your heater valve restrictor (same age - 1992 - mileage is 67600).

I cannot vouch for coolant changes prior to my ownership - 09/12/2012 - mileage: 63677. I'm just aware that the coolant appeared not to have ever been changed (?).

Might be more than we need to know:

I posed my question about cause of part deterioration before I learned it
was plastic. I'm sure any plastic will become brittle with time, but, now, I'm
interested to know if proper coolant maintenance might have prevented the
eroded nipples?

Andy, was the coolant changed as required?

Note: I ordered the $8.00 part from RockAuto. At 84, I'm not concerned with
longevity.

There is a heater line restrictor that feeds the heater core and controls flow.

This little plastic cylinder doesn't last forever... mine lasted 24 years and 214k miles. Mine had, apparently, been weeping for sometime... became a full on leak last week. It only takes 10 minutes to swap.

I will post a pic of what my dead one looks like, but in short, the nipples on the in/out flows were all but gone.

A new one is about $20, shipped, from RockAuto.com.

Only a person of considerable wealth would appreciate the need for maintenance
tools required for the cited vehicles. Kudos, Andy.

Agreed. The inability to enter and exit would be the likely reason for me to exit C4 ownership.

Sold my '93 ruby vert after 12 years of ownership, as I knew my disability (arthritis) was only going to worsen. After about a year without a vette, not much else mattered (yes, I have led a very full life), so I bought a 2002 C5 vert after hearing and reading about the C5 being more user-friendly in-out. Not so, for me. Sold the C5 after 1 year, and found a nice '92 C4 because of my C4 style preference, and added $12K to my stock account.

Nicely written. Appreciated more if you are a C4 owner. Thank you!

Tire deflation is a major concern for me, even though I have never experienced a flat in over 40+ years of Corvette ownership. A working spare is in the cradle, but
road flares, a 12V air-compressor, and a can of Fix-a-Flat are included with my "emergency stuff" (cell phone and road service contact # are a given).

At age 84, just in-and-out of the vette is a difficult and painful exercise, so emergency road maintenance is to be alleviated, or minimized.

Good thing I put in a threaded fitting.......

Matthew, good suggestion. I have omitted threads from my thought process,
out of ignorance.

Just a question.... do you also apply primer prior to the solvent cement application?

My PVC glue jobs are rare, so I was introduced to PVC primer with my last purchase.
I don't remember primer being necessary for pressure applications.
