Congrats Tom. I'm 10-15 years out, but I'm running out of gas! I envy you.

Runner, are you good at managing investments? I know you are very interested, I can tell by your posts. Ever consider a C4 investment club? I'd be interested in something like that.

I'd be happy to run it for the group. It could be fun, interesting and profitable.

What a great set of headlight. My wife used to have headlight like that. "When we got married, my wife was a
36C, now she is a 38 long".

Do not ever repeat the above or you will be divorced fast.

Talk about putting lipstick on a pig....

AIG was nationalized by the US but is was part of the Dow Jones averages and its low price looked bad in the index...
So they took out AIG ($2.25) and replaced it with Kraft
($32.00).
Presto....we just changed the numbers.

Having grown up near the water my entire life, I love boats.
As kids, we use to build them all the time. None of them ever floated. Hope you have better luck.

The pisser is that crude oil has dropped $5.00 per barrel because of this weeks events (hurricane, bankruptcy-Lehman, bail-out Merril Lynch and AIG needing 40 billion is short term money).

My turn. I'm not going to use the man of the house thing or the 1953 thing (Andy well written) but I am going to take the investment thing.

The baby needs to be planned for, like education for starters and the (tax wise)(most children don't have a tax bracket) best way to save for a childs education is thru a savings account at a bank or UGTMA uniform gift to minors act brokerage account with the purchase of a good growth fund. Both of the above needs to be opened using the childs SS# since 9/11 the Patriot Act requires it.

I have parents and grand parents opening up accounts for childred all the time.

Time to shake hands and say "I'm sorry".

Crude oil briefly breaks $100.00 per barrel, then comes back a bit ($100.23).

I got an email yesterday from the Corvette dealership that I used five years ago. It was an offer saying if you liked the 96' you purchased from us in 2003, you will love this
"2002 Z06 with 57000 miles for $21990. They sent thirty photos and has me making some calculations.

The Vette is in Texas, thank God.

Doomsday predictions..... You don't have to go that far back. Check all the doomsday/end of the world predictions that were going to take place on year 2000.

Some of them came from those religious wack jobs that predicted the end of the world. Guess it was just another day.

The wells were capped for hurricane Gustov two weeks ago.
Thats why crude oil is at record lows and gas is in short supply (can't get product to the refineries).

The only refineries that are still running are the ones over 150 miles from the Texas gulf coast. The start-up of a shut down refinery takes two to four days. There is over sixty refineries shut down at the present time(7:35am).

So, hurricane Ike has just prolonged the problem.

10:10am edit..

The RBOB (blended gasoline) current contract...$2.85 up .11 cents today. Thats a large one day move.

All of europe is using neuclear power for the most part.

Kind of like running shoes. They sometimes look great on the outside but after 500 miles, they have lost the bounce and you will get injured.

Some analogy.

Most of us will never foreget this day and where we were when we heard the news of The World Trade Certer, the Pentagon and the crash in Pa.

I was at work, and within minutes, the entire office was in my office looking for an answer. There was none.

Where were you guys and gals...that moment?

Nothing new, SOS. Sex and graft is normal for congress. Thats why their public approval rating is so low.

Back to the scandal...Sex for oil....offshore drilling is involved is a drug and sex scandal with big oil and the gov. Almost as interesting as the Elliot Spitzer scandal.
The Europeans laugh at the U S because we make such a big deal of these things, ie Bill Clinton and the above mentioned.

We propably will see and read much more of how A screwed B, between now and the election.

Better be something big. Took mine to New York for shows and dinners for her 60th. I had to, she took me to Vegas for mine.

Dinner at a nice resturant with a few close friends would be nice. At least a dozed red roses.

Or just cut off your genitals and sleep on the couch, forever.

Well, good news, I got the water heater in last night. Took about 4 hours total, but that included draining the entire 50 gallon tank (and house pipes ) and an hour trip to my favorite toy store, Home Depot. Ended up my cousin and I had to pepipe the gas lines since the new tank was slightly different than the old one. No big deal, just more work. I'm just glad we got it done. Morning shower was powerful and the water felt cleaner than the old sediment filled tank. Nice.

Anyone have big plans for the day? Hope everyone has a great day!

Brrrrr....Chilly are words many of us in south Florida don't understand. Got up this morning and turned on the tv to track the hurricane. At 5:00am it was in the mid 80's.
