Thanks for the input, Matt and Andy.  I was afraid that would be what I would hear.  I did quite a bit of searching myself before posting, and had no luck, so I was hoping maybe someone would know something that I couldn't find.  I'll keep looking/asking....but I'm not optimistic.

As a sidenote....I have another good friend who is a real Electronic "genius".  Wonder how hard it would be to "reverse engineer" the module and see if it could be fixed?  Of course, if the failed part is proprietary, it probably couldn't be done.....but, it might be worth a shot.

Thanks again....Thanks

Hey guys, I've got a good friend down in Florida who has a 2000 Convertible. He has started getting the "Service ABS" message. It is showing the following codes:

C1217 H BPMV pump motor relay contact CKT open
C1243 H BPMV pump motor stalled
C1255 H EBTCM internal malfunction

He has taken it to two different dealers with the same answer: He needs to replace the following parts:

1. Electronic Brake Control Module: Part #9367071
2. Brake Pressure Modulator Valve: Part #15230740

Both are discontinued by GM and not available from any sources that they have. My internet search turned up nothing as well. It seems the early ('97-2000) models have different parts than anything later, and no one can repair them, and salvage parts are scarce and expensive (and still old and used!).

Anyone have any ideas? Since my car is a '98, I am very interested in this in case it happens to mine in the future, but mainly I'd like to help my friend.

Thanks in advance!

I hope Memo makes a full recovery.  We had just left the stands in the horseshoe when it happened, and really I was kinda glad that we weren't there.  The replay looked horrible, and for a few minutes (until they announced that he was awake and alert) everyone feared the worst.  It was really sad to watch the Gainsco crew pack everything up so early, and it was obvious they were very concerned, too.  It could have been worse!

Yeah, I saw that vid, Bill.  It's great, and a testament to the amount of technology now in all  these cars.  We got a good close look at the C7Rs, and they are really amazing machines!  And, the DPs are even more impressive.....at least to me.  Short of the Gidley crash, which was very scary, the racnig was a blast to watch!

Trae and I (and our wives) attended the 24 last week, and here are a couple of pics and a link to a bunch more, if you are interested.  I will say, I had an absolute awesome time!  By far the most enjoyable racing event I've ever attended.  I know many of you have attended more, and probably better, events, but this one was special to us.  I also know that everyone is not sold on the merger of the two series, but I felt the racing was incredible.  Anyway, here they are.  No particular order, and including several from the Corvette Corral and parade laps (both Trae's and my car). And even one of the C7 Z06 in Cyber Gray!

If anyone else from the Guru is attending, it would be great to meet you there.  Trae and myself will be there all four days, and we will be parked in the Corvette Corral.  Any others going?

Okay, I realize that I don't post on here much, but I think this is pretty important. It is with great pride that I introduce my first Grandchild, Aria Keegan Jenkins!  Born Thursday, and if time goes by like it seems it has for me, will be driving her own 'Vette by this time next year!  Here's a pic:

Hey Chris,

Why don't you come over in the next few days and let's discuss this.  You've gone too far with the car to do something now that may result in you not enjoying it as much as you can.  I think I have a pretty good idea what you intend to do with the car when it's driveable (it's never "finished"!), let's discuss it, okay?

From what I learned during my ordeal with this problem, if the steering wheel does not lock, then the recall has been performed on the car.  What the dealer may have had to reset was the actuator.  If it does not retract far enough, it will not tell the BCM that the wheel is unlocked, therefore the "Pull Key Wait 10 seconds" message, and the car will not run past 2mph (it will shut off).  Per Paul (the guy on TeeBee's vid), this usually happens because of a weak battery. The system is very touchy as to that issue.  A second recall installed a "K" harness that should have fixed it.  On my car, once I installed an Optima Red Top battery, I had no more issues.......going on 3 years now.  I can still hear the actuator when I turn the key.  It obviously does not lock or unlock, but it moves enough to give the signal to the BCM.

The guy in TeeBee's vid (Paul) was at the NCM Bash this past weekend......answering questions, and I heard him telling some other guys the same thing he told me, and is on the vid.

Good luck with the C5.....you'll love it!

Just returned from the National Corvette Museum Bash. If you've never attended this event, I would recommend that you put it on your future to do list. I had an absolute blast. Got to see a couple of C7s, met and talked to Tommy Milner and Doug Fehan, saw a very, very large number of 'Vettes (over 1500 registered), and got to watch as a couple of our club members became celebrities, of sorts. "Vettes of the Smokies" members Peter Earl (Grandson of Harley Earl) and his daughter Madeline were quite well received by the Museum, and Madeline was asked to be a Celebrity Judge for the Friday car show. It was really fun to watch as our friends were afforded the recognition that comes with being related to Harley Earl!

Here's a couple of pics.  The rest I took are here!

Trae and I had an absolute blast this past weekend at Barber.  Thanks to the "Team Corvette of Birmingham" club, we had the opportunity to get up close and personal with the folks/cars at Spirit of Daytona, Wayne Taylor Racing, and Marsh Racing (Whelen Corvette).  They also hosted the Corvette section of the Sports Car Corral, where we parked.  Here are a couple of pics, plus links to my photobucket albums.  Please excuse my photography.  It's not much compared to some of you guys!

Trae and I are in Birmingham for our annual trip to the Rolex Grand Am races and the Izod Indy Car race. Today, we took in the Barber Motorsports Museum (yeah, we did this last year too, but if the pics from last year didn't bore you too bad, maybe you'll want to look at this years crop). Anyway, here's a couple, and the link to the rest of mine. (Trae took more, he'll post his later)

Bill, do you think that Ganassi is still sandbagging?  Just running hard enough to stay ahead?  Wouldn't make much sense, would it?

I actually loved my '85, but the headroom was a little lacking (I'm 6'3, 215).  Now, the C5, as Marcus says, is a totally different car, but as far as headroom and comfort, I find it way ahead of the C4.  You won't be disappointed with the comfort of the C5, but it won't "hug" you on curvy roads like the C4........at least IMO.

Good luck, and post pics when you find one!

This happened this past weekend right here in Northeast Tennessee.  What this guy was doing driving across the mountian, in a rainstorm, in this car, is up to speculation.

ThanksThanks for the heads-up, Marcus. I will definitely keep an eye on that situation. As it is, I've been running the AC a lot so far this season, and I've seen the puddle under the car, so I'm okay for now......but I will keep watching!

This video may not be as "entertaining" as some of the others posted here, but it answers the question!

Well, I don't have any newer pics of the interior or engine bay(even though it's not changed since last year), but these have all been taken since this time last year.  The first two may look familiar........taken Saturday at Shelton Vineyards in NC (that's even Trae driving the car) at the show we both went to.  I apologize for the bra being on the car, but the Cicadas are really bad in these mountains right now, and I hate cleaning 'em off the nose!

The last two I think I've posted before..........last summer on the Blue Ridge Parkway.  Anyway, I'm proud of her, so I hope she stands up to the great looking cars you guys post!occasion5

That brings up a question that I've had. The places here that recycle oil (Advance and O'Reilly) each have huge tanks where I pour my used oil. I run synthetic in my truck, the wife's crossover, and the Vette. I know that I'm not the only one who dumps used synthetic oil in those tanks.......soooo, is the "recycled" oil part synthetic? dontknow  Does is separate in the refining process?

Morning fellas,
Great weather here the last few days....mid 80's and sunny. I'll spend tomorrow getting the C5 ready for an "All Corvette Show" in Knoxville this Sunday, hosted by the East Tennessee Corvette Club.

Marcus, take care of that back. I cringe when I hear anyone speak of lower back/left hip pain. That's how I started, and then ended up in surgery. I don't want that for you.......the past 14 months have not been fun.

Everyone have a great day, and keep it in the road!

Peace

That is a pretty good team....and nice guys, too. Here is the aforementioned Alex Gurney, along with Jon Fogerty, and Trae!

Have a Blast!

Thanks, we are having a blast! I know it's not Sebring, but the grounds and track are really incredible, and the racing is pretty good, too. Maybe next year you (and anyone else who would like) could meet us here. It's an easy drive from our home, so it's an easy trip to make for us.

Very sad......I have so many memories of the Grump. I never actually met him, but I watched him race many times at Bristol, starting back in the '60s in a Nova, then on to the Camaros, Vegas, etc. He changed the way Pro Stock Drag Racing was done. Rest in Peace, Grump!

Okay, back today for the races. Now I'm not a photographer like Andy, or any of the rest of you for that matter, so don't laugh at my attempts, but we've had a blast today, and can't wait until tomorrow for some real racing! Sorry I don't have any pics of the Indy cars practicing in the rain late today......the roostertails were quite a site!  Got some shots of the Corvette DP cars, and even the Whelen GT Vette.  The Spirit of Daytona Corvette DP qualified 1st, the Gainsco Corvette 2nd.  The Suntrust Corvette (Ricky Taylor) spun while qualifying, and did some kind of damage.  You will see in the pics that they were doing some major mechanical work.....at least to the clutch area.  Tomorrow should be fun!

DP2

Click HERE for the rest of the pics.  (Bill, I tried to make it a little easier to find for old farts like you and me!)

Oh yeah, Bill.  Trae says the Indy cars were ugly before, too.......just uglier now!

Enjoy!

Trae and I are in Birmingham for the Rolex Grand-Am and Izod Indy Car races. Today we went to the Barber Motorsports Museum, and I must say we were highly impressed. I know that several of you guys will be interested in some of these pics. A lot are really neat old race cars........a large number of Lotuses (Lotusi?......hell, I don't know what's plural for Lotus!), but there are at least a million motorcycles here...well, almost a million, anyway.

Barber1

Barber2

Either Trae is 7' tall, or this is one low car!  Care to guess which?  Click here for the rest of my pics!  Enjoy!

Great pics, Andy! Looks like it would have been a blast. I hope to make that trip next year, if all goes well.

In the meantime, hopefully Trae and I can post some interesting pics next week. We are going to Barber Motorsports Park this weekend for the Rolex Grand-Am and Izod Indy races. We should get some good pics of the Corvette DP cars, and maybe the Whelen Corvette GT car.

Well, I don't really consider myself a "lurker", but I don't post often enough to be a reg either, I suppose. The beauty of this forum is the amount of knowledge here, and great folks that are willing to share it. Over the past several weeks, you guys have given answers, advice and ideas to C4Williams on a regular basis. That willingness to help has resulted in this young man amassing a bunch of great parts, ideas, and know-how, and he will have a really nice '85 when we get it all together. That, my friends, is what this forum is all about!
